"Elena served as the flower girl, but she barely scattered her basket of petals; to her, it was just another party. She did love the fluffy dress her mother put her in that day, and with its big white bow like butterfly wings and fluffy green skirt, she looked like a little smiling flower. She stood by her father, who looked distinguished and serious in his gray suit, but he broke into a nervous grin as their cluster of friends parted to reveal his bride. Lucy clutched a small bouquet of peonies as she walked towards Tim, holding his eyes with hers as "I'm Glad There Is You" by Ella Fitzgerald played over a speaker in the corner."

- Epilogue: Forever, Inevitable

"Ready? Ok, let's go see Daddy."

Angela stepped out of Elena's bedroom a moment later, giving a thumbs up to Tim who waited at the end of the hallway. "Here she comes, Bradford." She turned back toward the bedroom and said in a coaxing voice, "Come on, Angelface."

A few seconds later, Elena ambled out. She was all smiles, and a sweet little laugh left her mouth as she spotted her father. She was ready for the wedding, wearing the flower girl dress she and Lucy had chosen a few days before. It was a cute little outfit they'd picked; the green skirt was fluffy like a ballerina's tutu, and a large satin bow on the back of the white top almost looked like wings as she toddled towards Tim.

"Hey, baby! Look at you!" he exclaimed as he knelt, letting her run into his open arms. "You look like a princess."

"I'm a princess," she agreed, nodding happily in a way that made her dark brown hair, tied up in two high pigtails, bounce.

"Oh, my," he breathed, tickling her belly twice. A moment later, over the sound of her giggles, he heard Lucy's voice.

"Tim."

He looked up, seeing his fiancee. "Oh, my," he repeated, sounding much more awed with her than he had his daughter. The two-year-old in his arms still nuzzled into him, so he figured she didn't take it as a snub. Tim stood, bringing Elena with him as he did, and looked at Lucy. She wore a white dress of beaded lace, a pattern that drew his eye to her hips, to her waist. Her hair was down and curled, and he reached for her, gently burying one hand in the curls at the nape of her neck as he brought her close.

"Mommy princess too," Elena whispered, reaching one hand out towards Lucy. She put her hand on her daughter's back, then wrapped her free arm around Tim's waist.

"Look at you two. My loves," she said fondly, perhaps a little tearfully. At the end of the hall, Angela waited, and she let the family have their embrace before interrupting when the time to separate had come.

"It's just about go time, you guys," she said, then reached around Tim for Elena. "Come on, Angelface. Let's give Mommy and Daddy a minute."

Elena began to protest, but Tim quickly comforted her. "Go with Aunt Angie, baby. I'll be right out." Then, they were alone.

There was a moment where all that they could do was look at one another sharing a gaze that was laced with so many things. There was love, and there was hope. There was want, and there was wonder. All of it occurred, in this sweet, stolen interlude.

"Well," Lucy said, breaking the silence first as she reached to straighten his collar. "Aren't you handsome?"

"You look gorgeous," Tim replied, and it was hard not to kiss her, even though he would only need to go without for another minute or two. "You're as beautiful as the day I met you."

Her nose wrinkled before she teased, "I hope I look a little better than I did in long sleeves and wool pants. Otherwise, what did I just do all that work for?" Her arms wrapped around his neck, but he knew she would refrain from kissing him until after the vows when Grey pronounced them husband and wife. Still, she went up on her tiptoes, grazing her nose against his.

"I should get out there," Tim whispered before she slid her hands down the front of his suit. Her palms folded over his heart as she took a half-step back, and he gripped her wrists gently. "Last chance to run, Chen."

His joke only underscored his nerves, but Lucy knew him well enough not to be put off by it. She responded earnestly. "I'm not going anywhere, honey."

He kissed both of her hands, then her timer. "Meet me at the end of the aisle?"

She nodded, smiling. "I'll be the one in white."
