Atem could not leave, he felt horrible to leave his secret crush behind, he felt horrible he could not enjoy life with his own body, and when he saw his crush also did not want him to leave, he hoped for a second chance in life. When he entered the open doors to afterlife, a air force pushed him back, right into Yugi's arms.
They saw the door closing, while the gods told him to enjoy his newborn second life until he was truly ready to join his family.
They where shocked that the pale man with purple eyes walked to the doors, but when the force pushed him back, he had his Egyptian caramel bronze coloured skin, and his eyes where as crimson as blood, Atem couldn't help but notice some drool coming out his crush mouth.
But they where also shocked that Bakura, the spirit from Ryou, and Malik, the spirit from Marik where also thrown back into the world of the living, their Hikari's ran over and crushed themselves in their arms, releasing their sexuality.
Both Tea as Tristan where the only ones who where against gay relationships, and where Tristan left the group, Tea stayed because she wanted to date Atem.
Both Seto and Ishizu worked together and managed to create the necessary papers for Atem who would become Yugi's distant nephew, also Atem would be a year older then Yugi but at Domino high school he entered the same classes as Yugi did, it was because Yugi was a very smart kid, he was one year younger than the others. So they all where seniors.
Also Bakura and Malik were provided with the necessary papers to stay and travel around legally.
That was three weeks ago and however Atem saw Yugi still smiling, his smile looked forced, and it was mostly when Tea was around, maybe was it because Tea hated Ryou now?
One day she came around, Yugi was send to the store earlier by his grandfather so she decided this would be her chance, she asked if Atem would date her, Atem rejected, he told her his heart belonged to someone else, she however did not accept this and crushed her lips against him.
Yugi who just entered the room saw what happened, tears in his eyes he ran to his room locking himself, but Tea already saw it, she smiled when Atem forced her off and hit her. "Do that never again, or I swear for every god in creation I will send you to the shadow realm!" He shouted angry at her, knowing the Yami's powers where still there.
"Oh face it Atem, you enjoyed that!" She shouted back.
"There is no way you could arouse me in that way Tea, because I like men!" he almost yelled when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
Grandpa had walked in and caught the two in their fight. "Tea it's best for you to leave, and Atem to the kitchen NOW!" knowing grandpa had no room for a fight the young man left to the kitchen and waited till the elder would enter.
Atem knew something was wrong with his Aibou more since the encounter he and Tea had, but somehow he did not find the courage to speak with the boy, one day however it happened when the two were walking in the mall, when Yugi stopped suddenly for a piercing shop, Atem already visited once.
Yugi told him a few weeks ago that having piercings in the right ear in this time meant you were gay, Atem however couldn't care, he still loved to wear earrings, something he missed when he still lived in the puzzle.
Yugi had his thinking face a frown which wrinkled deep in his head, and Atem felt the link was open walked over, maybe he could reach his little Hikari now.
/Aibou? Are you alright?/ he asked the smaller
Yugi looked up out of his thoughts but could somehow not answer his best friend and secret crush, but he knew he could not because of what Tea was currently doing with him.
He had known for a long time now, but never told him or his friends, the only person who knew was his grandfather.
While the former pharaoh was looking to the piercings in the display he saw one he liked, only not for him, he only didn't know what Yugi would say.
"How about this one?" Atem asked more to himself then Yugi, not noticing he said it out loud.
"It looks cool, but it would not suit you Atem." The boy said.
"I was more thinking for you little one." Atem replied with a smile.
"M...me?" The smaller stuttered.
The former pharaoh only nodded.
"Will it hurt?" the boy asked with fear but also a hint of excitement in his voice, when Atem came home with his ear pierced he liked it and secretly he also wanted to do it but was afraid of the pain.
"No, only if you focus on it to much." Atem smiled.
The smaller thought about it. "Yugi, if I give it to you, will you speak with me again, and tell me what is bothering you?" Atem asked.
"But we do speak Atem, and nothing is bothering me." The boy said nervously hoping his most dearest friend would not notice it, sadly Yugi is a boy who can't lie.
"Liar." Atem said, just as stern as Yugi did a few years ago when he still was pharaoh but a mere spirit.
"Am not.." the boy stated.
"Yugi, when I was still a spirit I noticed very soon you can't lie smoothly, come on let's pierce your ear, or do you chicken out on me?" Letting the boy know he would let it rest for now.
"Will you hold me?" the smaller asked him.
"Always." Atem promised him, and also meaning it in a different way.
Both boys walked in and told the man what the smaller wanted, he didn't want to do it at first because Yugi was under age, so when Atem showed his ID and told he shared custody over the boy the man agreed.
Holding Atem's hand the boy yelped a bit when the ring was shot in the shell from his ear, Atem also purchase himself a new ring and they walked out.
The boy was sniffling a bit, so Atem also gave him an ice cream which made the boy smile again.
When they came home grandpa saw what the smaller had in his ear. "First leather and now that! Atem I'm sorry but I what you do with your body is non of my concern, but if Yugi comes home with another piercing or a tattoo before he is 20 than help me gods!"
"Grandpa! Atem promised me he would never force me to do it, and I wanted it for a long time! Atem only gave permission because I asked him!" Yugi shouted towards his grandfather.
"He did? His grandfather looked shocked by what his grandson just told him.
"Yes grandpa, he did, I asked him a day after he placed his, because I knew you would not let me."
"Yugi, Atem the both of you are grounded for two weeks, no friends and electronics, you for thinking you could do this without my permission, and you for accepting it without my consent." Their grandfather said while first pointing to Yugi first and next to Atem.
"Did the two of you eat?" grandpa asked, and the boy nodded in a yes next Yugi already accepted his punishment went to his room, Atem however wanted to start a fight because him being 19 was not fair.
"Atem! Don't even think about starting this argument with me, or you get a week extra! Now to your room!" the old man said in a stern voice and look which even Shimon did back him back when he was still a prince.
The young man did not try to go against the old man and followed the boy to their shared room, yes there was a spare room, but when Yugi every night crawled in a sleeping back on the floor in the spare room, Atem decided he moved the bed to Yugi's room the desk from the boy was moved to the spare room so they could do their homework there.
Once he closed the door, he turned to Yugi.
The boy sat on the former pharaoh's bed with a big grin on his face.
"how much did he add you?" he asked innocently.
"He almost scared me, so I didn't even try, but still, it's not fair, I'm an adult."
"Atem, remember grandpa is in his early 70th and when he was still young, tattoos and piercings where a sing of rebels and gangs, and in his time when he was 20 they would say he was responsible enough to receive no more punishment, maybe we should have wait a year."
"So only you were admitted to the house until he finds it enough? Yugi we did this together!"
"And I'm glad you did, but why are you so mad? Do you have a date or something?" the boy asked him curious.
Atem shot him a mischievous grin and jumped over to the boy and started tickling him, Yugi did his best to push the elder off, but he enjoyed this way to much, when the younger started to yell he needed to pee Atem stopped and they both popped down on the younger his bed.
"No, but I have a special someone in sight." The elder boy told him truthfully after he regained his breath, for he also enjoyed the little wrestling they both had.
"Ooh tell me, is she pretty?" the younger asked him and tackled him nearly in excitement.
Atem chuckles for Yugi's enthusiasm and softly pushed the boy of him. "Yugi, it's time I tell you a little secret I held many years, even when I was still a young prince."
The elder boy hoped if he would share part of his secret with the boy, he also would tell his.
"I never felt attracted to girls, it's men who arouse me." The elder said.
"So when you kissed Tea?" the younger asked him.
"You saw?" the elder asked surprised and taken back a bit.
"Yeah, but I was to upset to see it end." Yugi whispered.
"Yugi, I will be honest with you, she asked me on a date and I told her I was gay, she didn't accept and kissed me, I even felt her smiling when I was struggling to break free from her, and when I did, I slapped her, and I yelled at her until grandpa came in."
"Does grandpa know?"
"Yes, he does sweetie, and you? No longer after Tea?"
"No, um she is acting strange, um I don't know, oh look at the time we have school tomorrow." The boy said and ran towards the bathroom for his evening shower.
Atem took a deep sigh, damn, "I had hoped he would talk" Atem said softly and took his PJ pants, when he had changed he crawled under the blanket and closed his eyes.
Yugi putted the shower on, it was in the beginning a struggle to find a structure routine because both he and Atem loved to take long showers, so they decided Yugi would shower before bed and did a small wash with a cloth in the morning, and Atem would take a shower when he was ready because the older always was to hot for comfort at night and did sweat allot then.
When the water was on a nice temperature he stripped down his clothes and under the shower he started to cry.
It wasn't unusual for the boy, every evening he cried, he cried about the fact he saw his crush kissing his very first crush, and now he was glad Atem told him what truly happened, but still, he could not tell Atem what happened shortly after the kissing incident.
He wanted to speak, he truly did, but he was scared for what would happen.
After two hours of crying, he decided he was ready, so he dried himself off and went to his bedroom hoping Atem already was asleep, which he was, Yugi slipped under the covers and fell asleep also.
That night Yugi awoke from the thunderstorm that was going on, usually it wasn't this hard so he didn't mind, but when a thunder slash stroked somewhere very close, he got scared, and without himself noticing, he screamed.
Atem shot up, never in his worse nightmare he'd never heard such a terrifying scream, and when he realised it was Yugi who was screaming, the boy shot up and was next to the younger boy.
Yugi was trembling, so Atem knew it was an added stress factor now for the boy, so he pulled the boy in his lap and started rooking and softly singing a lullaby, it worked the boy calmed down, and when the thunder was calm enough for the younger to sleep again, he asked Atem if he would sleep next to him.
Atem didn't understand at first until the boy held his blanket up for him, he smiled and nodded, plucking his cushion from his own bed and crawling next to his younger doppelganger.
The small boy crawled against the elder and laid his head on the others chest, listening to the elders heart, the smaller fell asleep.
"good night sweetie." Atem whispered and pressed a kiss on said boys head before drifting to sleep also.
The next morning the younger got up and did a small wash before dressing in his uniform, Atem already knocked on the bathroom door because he over slept a bit, the mattress from Yugi smelled way to nice for him to get up easy.
When the smaller got out he took a quick shower brushing his teeth at the same time, also dressed in his uniform, hanging his jacket like a cape over his shoulders like a pharaoh.
After breakfast Yugi ran up the stairs to brush his teeth also and while grabbing his backpack the both walked off to school
The only moment Yugi and Atem did not see each other was when they needed to go to their locker, or the toilet.
And the first was where Tea took the little one apart and started threaten the boy.
"If I ever see you speak with MY Atem, I will sent you the most unpleasant bullies we have here."
"but how are you going to do that? Atem and I live in the same home, and sleep in the same room." The boy said desperately.
"Then you sleep on the couch or move out!" she hissed and walked away.
The poor boy started held his tears and ran to the toilets, in a stall he started to cry, he didn't come out when the first period bell rang the boy skipped class, and when second period started he called himself sick, and went home.
Atem, Joey, Ryou and even Bakura where very concerned, they knew Yugi entered school, but when he took off to his locker, he was gone after.
They also found it strange that Tea did not show any concern for the boy, which made Atem concern more.
When Atem came home he found grandpa, but Yugi never showed up, so Atem called the other guys and they started looking for his little Hikari.
Three days is the boy missing, and when Atem isn't at school he and his friends are looking, hanging flyers in the city and talking with people who could have seen him.
It's the fourth day of the young boy missing and Atem, Joey, Bakura and Ryou are sitting at their table crossing the places they would look today after school, when Tea arrived at their table, Atem loudly groaning tries his best to ignore her, Ryou and Bakura both know what happened between him and Tea and they to ignore her.
In one fluid swipe she pushed the papers from the table and lands herself in Atem's lap.
"Why are you even try to look for him, he only stands in the way."
Bakura realized what she did picked the girl out of Atem's struggling lap, and force her out, before the others can follow them, they hear.

Loud cheers ran trough the canteen, everybody thinks the new popular boy must have done something very bad.
Atem paled, and looked towards Ryou. "Please come with me?" he asked the pale boy.
Joey already was behind Bakura at the time so Ryou agreed, and walked with Atem to the headmaster's office.
"Ah mister Sennen, go inside the headmaster will see you now, uhm mister Bakura maybe you could go in with him." The lady at the desk told them.
"Hello boys, please take a seat." the headmaster told them.
Atem and Ryou both sat down on the chairs and looked towards the headmaster.
"Atem, your guardian called, Yugi is found he is in the hospital at this very moment, I send you to them now." Noticing how pale the Egyptian boy looked he told Ryou to go with Atem until he was safe with his grandfather.
Both boys where speed walking towards the hospital, and Ryou being taller then Atem had trouble to follow the other but kept going.
In the hospital they ran to the information desk and Ryou stated Yugi's name, the man behind the desk typed on his computer and said, Room 234 second floor.
They both ran up and when they reached the door they knocked.
Grandpa called them in, and Atem already heard at the tone he wasn't pleased at all, no the old man was livid.
Yugi was sound asleep, and ivy in his wrist and as pale as the sheet of the bed.
"They found him in an ally, he was dehydrated and has a fever, he was awake and told me what made him decide to ran away." The elder told both boys before they could even question him.
"And Atem I'm telling you this right here right now, if that woman ever dares to even look at MY grandson, I will kill her so for his and mine, take care of it!" The elder continued.
Both boy knew which woman grandpa meant, and Ryou took out his phone and started typing rapidly. Only to receive a very quick text back, the white boy said. "I think it is taken care off already, I told Bakura and Joey which room Yugi is."
After half an hour the other two boys walked in. "They admitted Tea to the psychic ward." Joey said.
"But how?" grandpa asked.
"Shadow magic." Both Bakura and Atem said.
"Why is everybody so loud, I want to sleep." Came from the bed.
"Yugi!" The four boys shouted at the same time.
"Atem, it's time you tell him son. Come on boys, we go and tackle the restaurant." Grandpa said.
The three boys and grandpa walked out the room leaving Atem and Yugi behind.
Yugi still thinking about Tea's threat did not look towards Atem.
"Yugi, talk to me, please Aibou."
Yugi said nothing.
"Tea is gone, she can't harm you anymore."
Yugi still kept quiet.
Then Atem remembered a song he recently heard, a song what he started to learn so he could ask Yugi to be his Boyfriend, and he started to sing.

Yugi started to tear up, and Atem who noticed it, cubed the boys face in his hands, whyping the tears away with his thumb and continued singing.

The same afternoon Yugi was released, and back home Bakura told what he did.
"She was driven by popular boys from which she would take their virginity, and then dump them, telling everybody how bad he treated her in bed so the guys would loose their fame, only to become more popular herself." He grumbled. "When I figured out I made her think she was a very unpopular and very unattractive girl, it drove her mad."
"Will she ever heal?" Yugi asked the bitterness in his voice clearly there.
"No, only if we set her free, she will die like a lunatic." Bakura said with a smirk.
Yugi only nodded and layed his head on Atem's lap drifting off to sleep.
Valentine day has arrived and Yugi was getting ready to go to the ball, Atem went out earlier that day, and Yugi hoped he was back on time to get ready.
At 7 PM he heard the doorbell ring, and grandpa called to his grandson. "Yugi, there is a very, VERY hot date here for you!" carefully not to fall off the stairs he walked down and his mouth dropped when he saw Atem standing there in a indeed VERY hot suit.
Atem was wearing a silk black suit with a crimson red button up, and a white tie, his shoes where just as silk black as his suit, and Yugi had trouble not to drool.
Yugi was wearing a amethyst coloured silk suit with a very dark blue button up, the boy had no tie, his shoes also where silk amethyst. Atem always did mention his eyes sparkled deep blue which was an amazing effect with his amethyst eyes, so Yugi wanted to do something with that. And where Yugi tried his hardest not to drool, Atem needed a napkin.
When the elder boy wiped his mouth he asked the younger if he was ready to go.
"Not so fast you two." Grandpa said and he handed both boys a very small box.
Both boys opened the gift and in it there was a earring, Yugi's had an crimson stone attached on it, and Atem a Amethyst, both boys did them in right away.
At school they had fun, together and with Ryou, Bakura, Joey and Seto. At some point Atem sneaked out and when he came back he draw Yugi to the dance floor.
There started the very same song Atem sang a month ago when Yugi was in the hospital, Chicago and you're the inspiration. When the song was over Atem asked Yugi to be his boyfriend, and carefully brought his lips to the younger boy's lips.
Before he hit them the boy said yes, and ended in a very passionate relationship.
