Yugi doesn't know what is worse, the pain, or the fear, he is shaking in his boots. While cradling his hurtful cheek, sending glares to his grandfather, he takes place in the waiting chamber until they will call him inside.
And for good reason, for a good few weeks he is having a painful toothache, Yugi never liked the dentist so he always try to avoid going. But when fever hits him and painkillers do nothing to ease the pain, grandpa decides it's enough and drags his grandson to a new dentist clinic in the hope his grandson overcomes his fear and will go on a regular basis.
When grandpa is singing in his grandson as new client, Yugi took place and tried to focus his mind on his phone and his favourite game, but with his nerves going high wire he can't focus at all.
With all the papers he needs to sing, grandpa sits next to Yugi and fills them in.
Then suddenly a female comes towards the waiting room. "Yugi Muto?" She calls out with a smile.
Yugi stands and sees grandpa is still working on the papers, so he needs to go inside on his own, with a big gulp he walks over.
"Hello Yugi, my name is Mana, I'm Atem Sennen's assistant. Follow me please?" she asks after the introduction. Yugi nods nervously. "Oh don't worry, Atem is a very kind man and many clients always walk out with a smile." She says when she sees Yugi's nervous state.
Yugi doesn't replay, he looks around, instead of the boring white halls you see in the other practises he has been, this one looks very warm and inviting. The walls are sand yellow and the floor which has a design of what looks like a river, it almost looks like its really flowing.
On the walls are different designs from what look like figures out Egypt. It's a wonderful sight. Because Yugi is looking at the pictures he doesn't realise he stopped walking. "Beautiful huh?" Mana says when she noticed he stopped walking.
"Yeah, and so detailed. I have been in Egypt a few times before, and this looks truly amazing."
"Well, my brother, I and cousins of ours are from Egypt, and we figured to show our clients where we come from, they will be more at ease." Mana explains.
"Well it's working on me, thank you. But who is the owner?"
"That will be my brother, he also will be the one treating you. But if you don't feel at ease around him speak up and Malik will take you as his client. But most of the clients my brother took don't want to go to Malik, it seems because of his assistant."
Yugi nods nervously when Mana hold open a door, and a Male sits behind a computer looking into some patients data, but as soon as Yugi enters he clicks down the client base and stands.
"Hello, you must be Yugi?" the Male says with a smooth voice which has a very calming effect on the young man. "My name is Atem." The male introduces himself and reaching out a hand. Yugi takes it and looks into the crimson red eyes, they look stern but somehow they also give a calming effect to the younger.
"Don't worry, I won't bite." Atem says with a small chuckle when he sees and feels how nervous Yugi is. "Why are you afraid?" Yugi looks up, all the other dentists he visited never noticed or never wanted to notice his fear, and this one looks truly interested.
"Did something happened in the past? Is that the reason you're afraid?" Atem urges, he always was a man who was truly concerned about his patients, and wanted to see where the fear is coming from so he could figure out a plan to help them.
Yugi nods looking down to his feet.
"Is someone here with you?" Atem asks.
"My-My grandfather." Yugi whispers.
"And seeing with how thick your cheek looks, I can only guess you have a serious toothache?" Atem asks noticing the foul air coming out of this young man's mouth. Yugi nods again. Atem turns and walks to the phone presses a few numbers and holds the horn to his ear.
"Ah Anzu, if mister Muto filled the papers for his grandson he can leave, I'll make sure his grandson comes home safely, and I will take no clients anymore today." Atem says in the horn. Yugi hears the lady at the other side of the line say something, Atem thanks her and puts the phone down.
Next he turns and gestures to the other chair in the room. "Let's talk. And when we talked over it, I will treat you." Atem says softly and with a smile on his face.
Yugi takes place on the chair he was offered and takes a deep sigh. "Relax, you are way to tense Little One." Atem says softly.
Yugi perks up and looks offended, how this man dare call him little while he himself is maybe a few cm taller. "I'm not little." Yugi speaks up.
"I know, I didn't say it to offend you." Atem says and holds his hand up as a sing of no meaning harm. "Will you please tell me where your fear is coming from?" he asks Yugi again.
"Uhm, I don't know exactly, my father was a dentist and before he was arrested a couple years back he always treated me. After that I just fear them, maybe I even did before." Yugi says softly.
"And did any of the other dentists fill any cabinets?" Atem asks softly and Yugi shakes his head.
"My-my father always strapped me to the chair when he treated me, it didn't make matter if I had a cabinet or not, he never sedated me telling me I need to feel the pain I gave my teeth." Yugi admits and sniffs a bit.
"That's harsh. Why did he blame you for what he fed you?" Atem asks and gives Yugi a tissue, he takes it and dabs the tear under his eye away.
"Because I'm as grandpa called me a 'sweet tooth', I love to eat sweet stuff." Yugi admits with a blush and small chuckle.
"Hmm, and how many times a day do you brush your teeth?" he asks if he sees how white Yugi's teeth look but knows the smell says something else.
"Three times sir." Yugi says politely
"Yugi, please call me by my first name, sir is still my father." Atem smiles. "Do you also floss and use mouth water?"
"I do, but still I'm hurt." Yugi says feeling a feverish wave washing over him.
"I believe I know where your fear is coming from, normally I would ask the client to come by once a week and we take it slow, but seeing how swollen your cheek is and how feverish you look, I must treat you today."
"But will I be strapped again? Like my father did?" Yugi asks with a whisper eyes full of fear again.
"No, only if you wish to be strapped." Atem says with a chuckle and wink. "I will guide you step by step, I tell you exactly how I treat you, show and even let you hold the devices I use, if you wish I will sedate you to minimize your pain, you can even watch on the screen how I handle you." He says and points to the television above the chair. "And if you walk out with a smile today, I am a satisfied man." Atem concludes.
"Okay" Yugi only says. Atem reaches out his hand, and Yugi carefully takes his and trembles softly, Atem guides Yugi to the treatment chair and helps the young man laying down. With a soft smile Yugi feels himself relaxing enjoying the comfortable chair, while other dentist chairs he laid in where very uncomfortable.
Atem sees the little smile and admires his little patient, he heard from this kid's father, a terrorist dentist only good enough to treat criminals in his opinion, and yes the father of this boy is the culprit of Yugi's main fear.
He had read the reports of many dentists who did treated... no tried to treat is a better word, this young man, and they all say they see only terror in the boy's eyes, they saw him one time and then never again, three of them are even bitten by the boy until they bled what made them stop treatment immediately, so Atem knew he needed to be careful if he wanted this young man keeping as his client.
Atem was a bit shocked when he saw this young man standing in his exam room, he looked so beautiful and he almost jumped the kid and wanted to pounce him to the oblivion. Yes Atem admitted he is Bi, but he tends to the male body more, and the body from this young man he wished to make his.
Step by step he patiently explained Yugi what he is going to do, and as promised, he even let's hold Yugi the instruments, Yugi looks with fascination how Atem is filling the tooth glad there is someone who truly cares for his fear and is willing to help him even with the risk of him biting the man.
Atem is shocked, if a cabinet was filled they did it sloppy, not with the care he was taught to do, that alone sent him in a fit of rage, he now really understands where this young male's fear is coming from, with these poor filled teeth, most of them need complete new treatment!
Yugi sometimes looks away from the screen to see how the red eyes from his dentist look closely and carefully to his teeth, and with him showing, telling and even let him hold the tools, and Mana who sometimes makes a joke to make Yugi relax, Yugi feels almost fully at ease, only something in this man's eyes shows what makes him still a bit uncomfortable, but what could it be? Sometimes he sees how Atem's eyes smile towards him, and even sends him occasionally a wink, he sees how sometimes the crimson red turns darker like he saw one of his friends did when he was lusting over his boyfriend. Is this man seriously flirting with him? Well, if he is, Yugi will not complain.
Atem has fixed the most hurtful tooth, lays his tools down and next he sits next to Yugi. "I'm going to be honest with you Yugi, but I don't know how your father could treat your teeth so badly, they are filled terrible and by doing so, your teeth are bound to have cabinets until they filled correctly or until they fall out, I'm willing to help you, I will fill your teeth like they supposed to be filled, and I can only do that if you are willing to trust me."
"But we don't have the money to do all of this." Yugi whispers while pointing to his face making a motion around his jaw aria.
"Do you have a job?" Atem asks and figures out a plane already.
"No I'm still looking, not much company's want me because of my status as King of Games, and don't want a mob of fangirls in their building when I'm there." Yugi says with slight irritation. That doesn't goes unnoticed by Atem.
"Then I offer you a job, you will be the assistant of Mana, will be well paid, you will have the chance to learn, as profit, treatment for my co-workers is free, and as added bonus, you will overcome your fear." Atem offers with a wink.
"R-Really? You don't care I'm the king of games?" Yugi asks.
"Nope, I'm a gamer myself in my free time, and if you really want to pay me, a duel with the duel king himself will be an amazing way to kick his butt, maybe even dethrone him. And I don't believe you have a huge fangirl mob chasing you wherever you go, how else could I treat you if they truly where here? So what do you say?" Atem says mischievous and receiving a swap on his ear from Mana.
"Watch your tongue Atem! He is still our client!" she scolds.
Yugi giggles softly and thinks about the offer. "Hmm, okay, but how do you treat me?"
"When our shift is over I will treat you, but not every evening, I think that will be a little too much, how about once a week?" Atem asks and Yugi thinks over it again. "I even treat your grandpa for free." Atem also offers afraid of losing this young man.
"That would be nice, if grandpa still had his teeth." The boy chuckles and Atem laughs noticing the foul smell is not as strong as before.
"Okay, I accept your offer, but one Friday a month I want of because I have tournament then and need to keep my title. Unless you are capable of defeating me whatever I doubt." Yugi says with a bright smile and challenge in his bright eyes.
"Hmm, Friday is usually our day off, because my cousin, his husband, my sister, Anzu and I have family fun then, and if you become a member of the Sennen dentist family, then we of course need to see you in a duel. After I'm going to kick your tiny smashing ass!" Atem says.
Yugi not noticing the double meaning only smiles glad he finally has a job, a job that can help him overcome his own fear.
Atem calls to his sister and asks for a workers cheat, and in Arabic he says Yugi is off paying for treatment.
Yugi looks up, and with a mischief look in his eyes he says in Arabic "Thank you for the free treatment, but you don't have to keep it secret." Atem of course is taken back, he didn't know his new co-worker speaks his native language.
"I'm fluent because of my grandfather who often went to sites as archaeologist in Egypt, he taught me the language." Yugi explains.
"How many languages do you master Yugi?"
"The basics, my native is of course Japanese, at school I had English, and at grandpa's the Arabic."
"And all three fluent? I'm impressed. I'm glad I only mastered English next to my Arabic. If I have a person which is poorly with English I usually need to call Anzu, but I rather keep her on her place." Atem admits careful.
"So basically you are glad I know English? But why open a practice in Japan if you speak the language poorly?" Yugi asks carefully.
"When I finished my study, it's normal to place a new dentist practice in a place of their choice, and because I specialised on clients with fear, and they needed such a practice here, that's how we opened here. I have to admit, my cousins know the Japanese language and we wanted to open the practice together." Atem says with a wink.
A few Years have passed, and Yugi adapted fast to the dentist practice. His teeth are now healthy and strong, and indeed as added bonus, he overcame his fear. Yugi even started to follow an online classes to become a dentist assistant himself, and of course Atem's guidance helped him allot.
Yugi is now a registered assistant, and because Mana only was temporarily, he took over Mana's place. If there is a patient who is scared, Yugi goes to them, talks with them and supports them to return weekly so they can practice to overcome their fear he truly takes his time with them, and doesn't rush at all.
Yugi also noticed himself often enough looking at Atem, and why not the man as an amazing personality, looks handsome, his ass screams to be slapped, but Yugi is too afraid to tell his boss, he is gay he is bullied often enough for not being interested in the female body specially since his female crush rejected him on a cruel way. But Atem also loves to look to the young man who is the sunshine in his practice and with every time he sees him he feels like kissing him and ravage him on the spot. His assistant even can bring a smile on Marik's face.
With the practice blooming and all, soon a new addition came into the practice, a married gay couple the dentist Ryou and his assistant Bakura. Atem was pleased to see Yugi and Ryou know each other since high school.
Ryou explained he chose the path of being dentist because of Yugi's fear, he specialised himself mostly on scared patients, which was enough for Atem to add this duo to his team.
However when Atem wanted to hire a Duo named Weevil, and his assistant Rex, Yugi tensed up completely. After a background check, Atem saw these two didn't work for the client's, but for their wallets, he declined them.
Atem and Yugi work digitally together, and because of their friendly nature, they created a good build client base.
And however the two don't admit it yet, even the clients see how these two look at each other. You don't have to be a genius to solve this puzzle, they belong with each other.
And it will be revealed, when inmates come for their dental check-up, it's a basic rule the inmates never go to the same dentist twice, a safety manner as the director from the jail explained, but they are now looking for a permanent practice to save costs. The Sennen practice stands high on the list of potential candidates for this job.
Atem called the staff together and they watch over the inmate's client list, to see who get who, and hope everything goes well.
One name jumps out of the list, Atem uses his yellow marker and claims this patient to be his, if all goes well, and he does his assistant a huge favour by this.
"Okay as you all remember out of safety manner tomorrow no regular clients are seen by us, the inmates are coming to our practice, the prisoners come out the bus by three, if one is ready and placed back in the bus, and they bring in the next." Atem explains his crew. "Although the guards stay in the same room as the prisoners, I ask you all. Please be very careful. Don't let them trick you."
The whole crew nods their heads.
"Yugi, I know you wanted off tomorrow, but seeing Mana wasn't able to come over, I'm sorry but I need to cancel you day off."
"But, I promised grandpa I would help him in the store!"
"And I also explained to you, your day off could be redrawn if Mana wasn't able to come. I'm sorry, but I need you here." Atem explains again. He feels guilty, he didn't ask Mana to come, if the young man's father wouldn't be there he would call her over.
"Can I team up with Ryou then?" Yugi tries obviously scared for the following day.
"It depends, the agents will tell us tomorrow what the routine will be." Atem says and adds then. "If we need to discuss something in private I highly recommend talking Arabic."
Yugi takes a deep sigh, why did he even try, he saw inmates often enough in his father's practice, and if the rules didn't change there will be no switching between the teams working together, and then you have the fact, because every team knows the other well, it is a strange habit for them to switch in general. Atem walks over and places his hand on the younger his shoulder feeling the tension in them, he needs to calm his assistant down.
Yugi looks up and he sees Atem smile. "If necessary, we use our tools to protect our self Little One and I will not let him harm you I promise." Atem says. Yugi looks with admiration in Atem's eyes and then he nods with a deep sigh.
"Okay everybody, remember we open at 8 am, the prisoners will arrive at 08.15 and after a short introduction, we start, at 13 PM we have a break until 14 PM and after we work until 17. Please be on time, and let's all hope this is truly a one-time thing." Atem closes the meeting.
Atem stops in front of the game shop, Yugi's grandfather is swiping the curb and waves Atem over, he already talked with the elder about what today is going to happen, and the elder agreed, this would be the final step for his grandson to overcome his fear.
"Good morning Solomon, how are you today?" Atem asks politely.
"I'm fine my boy, it's Yugi I'm worried about, he had a restless night."
"I figured but it's also necessary even if you agreed. Uhm if you are okay with it, I want to finish this day with my co-workers at the bar, and for Yugi's and mine safety let him sleep over at my place?"
"Yeah that's fine by me, that boy comes out way to little." Grandpa chuckles. "But, if you hurt my grandson, then I promise you I will kill you young man." Grandpa says with a mischief look in his eyes, he also sees how the two look towards each other and he hope's they confess one of these days.
"Grandpa behave yourself!" Yugi scolds the elder with a humorous smile and voice. Atem looks closely to Yugi and he sees dark circles under his eyes, he is glad this typical prisoner is the one before break and he truly hopes Yugi can find closer after this.
"Yugi? Do you know why your father was arrested?" Atem asks when they sit in the car. Atem was always wondering for the reason why but never asked.
"Uhm, he treated once someone of very high status, if I remember correctly he was an emergency case, they didn't come often to father's clinic, the man wasn't pleased with how father did the treatment, when he walked out father's assisted forced me in, this man probably stayed behind and heard me crying and screaming, his guards ran in and they saw how father strapped me to the chair, they arrested him for child abuse and giving treatment purely to fill his wallet." Yugi says while a tear drops out his eye. "And the worst part is, I never got the chance to thank the man for saving me."
"What would you do if you would ever meet him?"
"I don't know, I would thank him, and further? No idea how I would react." Yugi says in all honesty. Another tear slips out his eye.
"Do you remember his name?" Atem asks bending over to opening the clove cabinet and handing Yugi a tissue from it.
"Hmm, it was a very long name, and if I remember correctly he was from Egypt, I don't remember how he looked." Yugi muses. "Sorry it isn't much to help you with huh?"
Atem who was in his own world remembers something his father told him a few years back, could this be? I call father after shift. "Atem? The light is green. Are you okay?" Yugi asks if he sees Atem spacing out.
"Huh? Sorry Little One, yes I'm fine, are you ready to do this?" he says while stepping on the gas and starts driving again.
"Do I have to?" Yugi asks in the hope Atem lets him still go just this once.
"Keep your head up Little One, don't show fear and stay close to me... but not to close, I need to be able to work." Atem chuckles and parks his car.
The staff all arrive on time, at 8.15 sharp a bus stops on the parking lot, a policeman steps out first and walks inside the practice, he taps his cap and introduces himself. "Good morning gentlemen and Miss." He says towards us and lastly Anzu. "My name is Officer Barry, you will treat our prisoners today, I must ask you NOT to switch if you are already in a team, so it isn't confusing for us, I also must ask you not to speak with them, and you will give them the treatment they are needed without sedation. As you already probably already know, there will be a guard with you in the room. It was the intention to send a second batch at 1pm but the board decided to send them to a different practice, so after the first batch you are ready."
During the lecture Atem saw Yugi tensing up and placed his hand reassuring on Yugi's shoulder, and before Officer Barry can continue, he interrupts him. "I know you said before inmates will never come to the same practice twice, but I have read the reports they send us over and I know my practice is on the list as permanent practices, but I must disappoint you! When I told my people they almost all packed their bags and left this clinic behind, and besides that my clinic is based on the patients fear to overcome them. After today there aren't any prisoners welcome anymore! The teams are Ryou and his assistant Bakura, they are in examine room 3, Malik and his assistant Marik are in examine room 2, and Myself and Yugi are in examine room 1. I wish to start now so this day can be over!"
The morning went well, all the inmates who Atem and Yugi needed to give treatment luckily know how to hold their teeth healthy and strong. Atem and Yugi only spoke with each other and sometimes the guard asked them a question which they of course answered.
With half an hour still on the clock, the last prisoner is brought in, Atem sees again how Yugi tenses up when he sees the man, Yugi walked out for a moment to splash his face and to calm himself down, he then looks into the mirror and says to himself. "I can do this, I am stronger now, I can do this and this is the last time I will ever see him." With a last deep breath, Yugi walks back, his father already in the chair.
"Well I'll be dammed, I knew you would follow my footsteps kid!" his father shouts out loud. "This old man taught you well! Look at you, my son a dentist!" the man says loudly.
"Shut up Muto!" the guard shouts.
"Ready Yugi?" Atem asks carefully, Yugi nods and goes to his place.
"What's the deal? Why are you at the assistant side? Don't tell me you're this peace of filth assistant!" Yugi's father shouts.
"Sorry, he is a racist I'm afraid, always was." Yugi apologises in Arabic towards Atem.
"Don't Yugi, is this man who should apologise not you." Atem reassures back in Arabic. Preparing this man for the picture.
When it's taken Atem looks to the picture. "Yugi, look at this please?" Atem asks in Arabic. Yugi bends over Atem's shoulder and sees the condition of his father's teeth. "What can this mean Atem?" he also asks in Arabic.
"It means he gave himself treatment when he was still legalized dentist, and because he gave it himself, he created this." Atem explains. "And he probably got some punches in jail what also can be a reason for these. Look these are from the first photo I took from your teeth." Atem continues and shows Yugi a different picture from a few years back. Yugi has seen this one, he gave Atem permission to hand this over to the dentist collage he did his exams.
"They look just as horrible as how mine looked before, and if I see correctly worse."
"True, they are worse than yours where, his are too far gone to be saved, the only option here is pulling them all out." Atem says. "Please go get Officer Barry for me okay? We need to discuss this with him." Yugi nods and walks out, he sees the officer and calls him over.
"Something wrong?" he asks Yugi.
"Yes, the teeth of mister Muto are too far gone, they need to be pulled will he be able to act normally." Yugi responds. My boss asked if you could come in please."
Together they walk inside, Atem has a deep frown in his forehead. He sees the officer walks inside and asks for a private conversation.
The guard and Yugi's father wait outside.
"Are his teeth really that bad?" officer Barry asks.
"I have seen this once in my still short career as a dentist, only the teeth of that man outside are beyond rescuing. Pulling them all out is our only option I'm afraid." Atem says.
"Why not try if you did it once before?"
"Because this young man teeth were still to be saved, that man however! His teeth are rotten to the core, I don't know how long he was a dentist, but I'm sure as hell he treated his own teeth worse than his own son's teeth."
"Are you willing to pull them?"
"I am, but I don't know if my assistant is able to continue. That man outside is his father."
"Then we leave it up to the young man." Officer Barry says and both Atem and him looking towards Yugi.
"He did do me allot of harm, but I'm willing to help... only if it is possible if when it gets too much, I can switch with Bakura."
"Are the other prisoners ready?" Atem asks.
"Yes only this man needs treatment. How long do you need?"
"Well for calling me a piece of filth because he hates people that aren't his kind, a hammer would do perfectly within five minutes as added bonus for you he will be knocked out for at least a day, but to keep my profession and to pull them all? I would say the whole afternoon." Atem responds.
"Very well, when can you start?"
"Sir my crew and I are working since 8.30am without a break, also if I need to pull alone in one day, that will cost me my back, I need to inform my team and you must allow us to switch every hour. Furthermore, Yugi here is the only one of his own kind, he will accuse my people and I know for sure they will not be amused if they are called filth! I have two workers that will become murderous."
"Fine, I'll come back with him at 1 pm, I allow your crew to switch, is it possible for Yugi to stay at all times then?"
"No!" Yugi says stern. "That man almost ruined my teeth and every time he gave me treatment, he strapped me down and took care of me without sedation, I will not stay longer than necessary, if anything, I'd rather drop everything now and go home, but for my co-workers I stay! But if a team switch comes I switch also!"
Atem couldn't be more proud when Yugi spoke with this much determination. "Make sure he doesn't eat before you return, and do you still want no sedation for this man? If he bites my people I don't want them or me to be blamed if they punch him!"
"If he truly was a person who said make them feel, then why not he also? If he bites your people are allowed to do what they seem necessary. We will return at 1pm." Officer Barry says turns and walks out.
That was an event they will all never forget, every tooth the team pulled out the man cursed they're skins full with the most hurt full words.
At some point he knew to snatch a tool and hit Yugi on the cheek, Atem was in rage when he saw Yugi bleeding, one of the guards needed to hold Atem and pull him out the treatment room assisted by Bakura, while Bakura held Atem down, Yugi did his best to calm Atem, while Malik, Ryou with Marik finished treatment.
When the man finally walked out, without his teeth, he dared to say towards Yugi that he still loved his son.
What Yugi did then shocked them all, he walked to his father, gave him a hug first and when he pulled back, he smashed his fist in the man's face. A crack was heard but Yugi nor did his father seemed in pain. "I love you for placing me on this world, but I will never forget what you did to me. Try not to contact me for I'm no longer your son."
The guards walk out with Yugi's father and when they are out of earshot, Yugi grabs his fist and moans in pain and falls to the ground. "Oooh that was a bad idea!" Yugi moans out, Atem supports Yugi while getting up and Ryou goes fetch an ice pack. When the ice didn't help Yugi's pain they went to the hospital and discovered the kid has a nice right blow, Yugi's fist was broken, his cheek luckily didn't need stiches so when Yugi's wrist was casted they went to the bar.
They talked over the day's event and after they had fun. It was Bakura who eventually pushed Yugi in Atem's lap, and the two were forced to kiss each other.
When they parted they looked in each other's eyes and brought their lips together again.
That night when Yugi stayed over at Atem's they had a fun time together, Yugi never slept home after that.
Atem and Yugi entering the practice, they are a bit late because of some... uh... morning activities. "Good morning Atem, Yugi seeing your flushed faces and the time you finally decided to enter, I guess I already know the deal." Bakura says with a smirk.
"Kura be nice!" Ryou scolds his husband and turns to the two newcomers. "Atem there is an emergency case in your room, he wanted only to be helped with you." He says turns and walks to his own examination room to start the day.
Both Atem and Yugi walk to room 1 to see a tall man sitting on the same chair Yugi sat the first time when he walked in. Atem freezes, and when the man stands he leaps forward in a mad dash only to be cached by the long male in a tender and caring hug.
Yugi looks closely and sees something familiar in this males face, if only he remembered where. "So son I see your first dream came true, you're a dentist and have your own practice, what about the second?" the man asks Atem with pride in his tone.
"Also came true father." Atem says and sniffs. Yugi is shocked, in the few years he works here and since the month he and Atem are dating he never saw Atem cry, a smile tugs to his face, even the toughest guy can cry. He thinks before turning and wants to walk out to discuss the agenda from today with Anzu.
Atem however has a different idea. "Father, I want you to meet the kid I told you about, my boyfriend Yugi Muto." Atem says taking Yugi in his arms and guide him to his father.
"It's nice to meet you again Yugi, I only had wished your wrist wasn't broken when you finally found the courage to stand up to your father. And I'm glad to say you overcame your fear thanks to my son." The man says, and then Yugi recognized him. This was the same man he did meet about 10 years ago, this man who saved him to prevent his father torture him anymore.
Yugi who usually only hugs Atem and his own grandfather, does at that moment the unthinkable possible. He leaps towards Atem's father tears in his eyes and hugs the man, the man is taken back a bit by this response but then lays his arm around Yugi and hugs him back. "Your welcome kiddo." He only says.
Atem doesn't intervene, he gives Yugi the opportunity to thank his father. And when Yugi has collected himself, he has a special surprise for Yugi, because in his eyes they are longer boyfriends than only one simple month.
In his eyes, they became boyfriends the day this beautiful sunshine walked into his room the very first time.

(A/N) oof I went to the dentist myself this morning, that's how this popped up, so with a thick cheek from the sedation, and the feeling I am drooling all over my shirt I started writing this.
Before you ask, yes I did actually bite my previous dentist, I did warn him, he didn't listen so he took the consequences. It was then I decided to go to another practice and I'm happy I did, since I'm in the new practice I truly did overcome my fear, but….. I still don't like it.
