Chapter 19: What the hell!?

"What the hell!? Are you kidding me?" Yugi asks when Atem drives the car into the lot of the camping they are staying for the next two weeks. He looks towards his boyfriend in astonishment, wondering himself why he did not pick the camping like he does every year during their holiday.

"What's wrong with it?" Atem asks wondering what the previous Pharaoh and spirit has done wrong this time and feels a bit angry because he did his best to figure things out on the web with what camping was within their budget and wasn't a far and stressful day of nothing but driving. He was so happy he found one with those demands they both agreed on.

But as being a previous spirit and pharaoh who most of the times got his things handed on a golden platter, he always had trouble adjusting to certain conditions after he regained his body. Like for starters he needed to adjust to the fact Yugi's mother could walk into the bathroom and instead of washing him like he demanded from his servants many years ago, she screamed and ran out yelling at him to lock the door when taking a shower.

Or to never leave a metal spoon in the tub while heating ramen in the microwave, it happened a few times already that he managed to forget take it out. The use of a laptop thanks god he has a bit experience with thanks to Yugi and his guidens when he asked him while still being a spirit.

But hand him a cell phone, and things are going to explode… literally… It happened five years ago only a month after Atem was given his own body and Yugi has until today still not a single clue how Atem managed it to let a practically undestroyable cell phone explode. Atem was in the hospital for a few days since a glass splinter got stuck in his eye, it took a few days to try and repair the damage done. Why did it take a few days you ask?

Well, Atem had during his first month in the living world all the possible shots they give a child when it's born. By going to the doctor's every three to four days for a few shots Atem developed a severe fear for them. And who can blame him. It came to a point grandpa gave Atem a horse drug in his morning coffee to knock him out and drag him to the doctor's office only to drag him out again and let him sleep off the drug only to repeat the same procedure three days later again.

So, when Atem had a glass splinter in his eye and they went to the hospital with him, Atem literally fought for four days tooth and nail to let the doctors check him out. It was out off sheer exhaustion they finally managed to knock him out and remove the glass from his eye. Luckily no permanent damage done to the eye.

Anyway, Atem tried his hardest to find a nice camping with a beath attached to it, it had the right price and was an hour drive away from home. The only thing Atem did not understand was what a 'nudist camping' was. And like the stubborn man we all know him to be… he did not ask for help to explain it to him and booked a spot for the two of them.

So, you can imagine Yugi's reaction when he saw the sign above the parking lot Atem drove on. "Atem, you do understand that only woman who are having their period are allowed to wear a panty over here?" he tries to explain patiently to his boyfriend. "I don't think I feel comfortable to walk around here in my birthday suit." The younger says and hopes Atem did not pay upfront already and hopes he can look for a different camping.

Atem, who's anger went down as soon as Yugi explained him why he reacted this way looks a bit shameful towards his boyfriend. "I'm sorry, I hoped I did do it well this time."

A deep sigh slip past Yugi's lips. "You did well, only you did probably not look to the clothing demands when you saw this camping… did you tell them you pay as soon as we arrive?"

"Was that possible? The only thing I saw was no returns after paying." Atem asks stumped telling Yugi enough already, if they don't wish to throw away this money, he needs to suck it up and go in the buff.

"It's… okay… I just have to… adjust and not allow… my insecurities to take over." The younger says with a sigh and gets out the car. Atem soon follows him making sure he locks the door and they both walk towards the 'sign in'.

While Atem signs them in Yugi already browses through the folder they were given with rules. He heaves a sigh happy over the fact they are allowed to leave their cabin while dressed when they go outside the camping. However, it's not allowed to go to the beath with clothes on, you need to leave the cabin naked.

Also going to the store on the camping is without clothes. And as Yugi already told Atem… only woman is allowed to wear a panty when they are in their periods. Poor Yugi feels like he is an overly ripe tomato, how is he ever going to keep his dignity, he feels insecure enough as it is about his body.

It has a few burn scars from the burning building on his body, the scar from his appendix removal is still fresh since it happened last winter when he suddenly fell sick. And how would they judge him with his size? Atem says he is average in size, but what if he only says it to make him comfortable?

Not even when he was in his school years, he ever felt comfortable enough to shower in the open space after P.E. he always went into a stall, and when that wasn't possible, he always waited until a stall came free risking being late in next class.

Atem walks over to his boyfriend and hugs him from behind. "I'm sorry little one, I saw nudist camping but felt to stubborn to ask. And it looks so easy when you do it, I thought I did everything right." The previous spirit whispers in his ear regret in his voice.

"Next year I plan a camping." The younger huffs and walks towards the car hoping he can make the best out of the situation. He seats himself on the passenger seat and waits till his boyfriend finally shows up.

He is angry but also… he tried his best to find this place, and it's true Atem isn't one to ask for help, it's not in his nature. A thing Yugi and the gang still are trying to teach him, but sadly always fail to do so. Luckily the damage most of the times is easy to fix.

In the end the two got a really nice time when Yugi noticed the men and woman did not look towards his 'pride' and could let the tension go. they even enjoyed it so much the next following years they went to that very same camping having the time of their life.

Authors note: so while I'm recovering from covid, I had a little bit time to overthink some things that were discussed during my birthday, a few things came up and this was one of them, and I want to dedicate this chapter to my dear cousin Hikari-Otum , and my dear friend Yugi_Loves_Atem_1306 . i know guys, not the normal amount of length you are used to me, but sometimes a short chapter also can give you some joy.
