Caring
I didn't think about the pain, anymore than I acknowledged the danger. At least, not until it was all over.
But she did. Every second of the time I was missing with my team.
I look at her standing just a few feet away, her limpid eyes on me. Her smile is only for me in these seconds she's enjoying that I'm safe and well and back home.
I don't fully understand her caring. It was never part of my life before. But I like it from her.
