Marcus Black
Marcus Black was a hired Hitman and Assassin. Being one of Remnants most infamous wanted and a dangerous conbatment. By GrimmFall standards, he would be a Rank 4 threat with the skills to back it up. being capable of espionage, poisoning, trap-making, planning, and hand-to-hand combat. having the especially dangerous power to steal other Semblances, that could turn a fight around when dealing with strong Huntsmen. Having been wanted all over Remnant because of the amounts of kills he made and numerous crimes. Being as feared as Tyrian himself in some cases.
What many didn't know however, was that Marcus had a son.
One day the assassin wished for an heir, and so he raped a woman and produced one, then killed the mother. From there he would raise his child as an assassin. Said raising would be no different from abuse, where not a single day didn't go by where he made his son crawling on the floor and bleeding all over. Where the only break his son would have is doing his chores, eating, and using the restroom. It eventually led to the point where Marcus forcibly stole his own son's Semblance which traumatized his child, just because he stated it was a crutch.
This naturally caused his child to become hateful and resentful of his father. Where one day when Marcus got back from a job and decided to drink, he was attacked. Despite being intoxicated, Marcus showed why he was such a threat and caused so much damage to his child, that his son would have to amputate his own legs due to the bone damage which couldn't be healed at the time and could have led to infection.
Still though, for all the damage he did, Marcus would fall by his own sons hands. His body left to rot in what was once his hideout while his child, Mercury Black, left with two women while spitting at his fathers corpse.
To this day, Marcus's influence still affects Mercury, as despite being free from him, is still chained by his past.
A few days have passed since Satyra left.
During those days, things in the Wilds have been more or less calm and okay as far as one can say. The town everyone now inhabited being fixed up and slowly becoming functional, with no real problem aside from the occasional rough-housing and laziness. The latter of which was dealt with by Bandit Princess who occasionally went to wander in the Wilds to see if she could find anything of interest for herself. Her men doing the same as some would find interesting things, and now no longer feared the Grimm believing their leader found a way to keep them back.
As for Salem and her allies, things were going fine as well.
Watts had spent his time studying the earth and its technological wonders with awe. Using as much skill as he had to hack places he could and stealing their blueprints, while also working on the dimensional portal which is now seven percent complete. Obviously creating a device to breach a hole in space time isn't quick, but at least progress is being made.
Hazel decided to spend his time training while also taking the time to enjoy nature. Finding it calming to be here, and taking some time to relax. No more needing to kill Huntsmen in Mistral, and had the time to feel at ease.
Cinder herself also decided to use her time to train. While she may have not done horrible against Catra, it infuriated her that she was being beaten back. As such, she had decided to get some additional skill with Salem even teaching her a bit from time to time. Though when she wasn't training, she found herself in the town's quiet library where no bandits were around, and silently read the books there.
As for Tyrian...no need to say what he did.
Meanwhile, for Salem, she found herself having the rare chance to actually just do nothing instead of plotting. Sure she used her Clairvoyance and Grimm to keep an eye out, and still did research on earth. However, with no pressing demands in having to topple trusted groups and manipulate poor fools, Salem discovered she didn't entirely hate this free time. So until something came up, she discovered the small hobby of using her Clairvoyance to view nature like Hazel, while also thinking about memories of old. Such a nostalgia time.
"Uh." Mercury whined as he left the trees while feeling a bit awkward. holding a bar of soap in his hands before he then sat and got a water bottle, where he opened it and spilled it on his hands. Then used the soap to wash those hands of his as best he could. "This sucks. And Em, don't go back there. Turns out the squirrels marked that territory as theirs."
"Too late for that." Emerald scowled as she then began cleaning her hair. "What I wish for a real mirror, and not this stupid hand held one. I want a real bathroom!"
"If only." Mercury scowled.
It's been a bit since Mercury and Emerald have been trapped here in this world. That's right, they know it. Fully aware their in a completely different dimension after seeing the strange buildings, writing, and to top it off, the animals standing on two legs. That, and the internet.
And boy were they not pleased.
I mean, why wouldn't they be?
It was bad enough they were in another world. Made worse that unless its to buy food and small items, their 'boss' made sure they came back to it and didn't allow them to stay in hotels. While thanks to the stolen money called Technos here they managed to get outdoor stuff, Mercury and Emerald didn't like being stuck in the great outdoors at all. Mercury just hating it, and Emerald just being reminded of her time as a street rat. Both hating it and missing modern conveniences.
"So then," Mercury looked toward Emerald as he finished washing his hands. "Later on, wanna get some warm clothes. It's been getting rather cold lately." To prove his point, the wind then came and gave both of them a chill despite having active auras.
"Yeah." Emerald nodded. "It would be nice to not freeze to death. Though," Emerald then turned where nearby is a group of Grimm, where none other than the massive Hound Grimm laid down with the others, doing nothing at all. The closest they can call resting despite the fact Grimm don't even get physically tired. "You'd think it'll let us."
"It has to." Mercury countered. "I don't know why, but that thing is keeping us alive. So I'm sure it'll allow us to get some warm blankets and junk so we can keep surviving and not turn into human popsicles." Because boy wouldn't that suck.
"That's fine." Emerald shrugs as she then grabs a brush and does her hair a bit. "i wanted this cute sweater I saw in that shop yesterday. I should have enough money to get it."
"Same." Mercury nods. "Saw a neat jacket that'll matc my style. Plus some parts for my legs." He then looks down and pulls up his pants to reveal a metallic prosthetic limb. "Need a few tools for good ol maintenance."
The two then got up and walked up to the Hound, where it perked up and looked at them.
"..." Along with the other Grimm who coldly stared at them, as if upset for interrupting their break. Great. To think they've been reduced to pets of a Grimm. That was insulting.
"Uh, hey there." Mercury gave an awkward laugh. "Listen, you probably can't tell since you're a Grimm and all, but, Em and I need some warm clothes and junk. Since it's getting cold."
"So we'll be leaving for a few hours. We'll be back long before the sun sets." Emerald added with a shaky smile. Otherwise they risk this thing chasing them, and while it never revealed itself to others, it beat them up once they made it back home. Their 'punishment' for staying out too long.
The massive canine just huffed and turned back. Dismissing them with the other Grimm no longer paying attention to them. A small Jackelope Grimm then walking toward them and showed some teeth before hopping into a nearby backpack that Emerald had stolen a while back. Rolling her eyes, Emerald grabbed it and put it on her back. The Hound placing a 'babysitter' on them, and if they stayed out too long, that thing will attack them.
Mercury learning that the hard way. His butt still stinging even now.
"Cool." Mercury then began walking backward with Emerald following him. "We'll be back soon, promise. See ya." Then like that, the two then went to do their usual business. If they were especially lucky, then they could return back home without the Grimm thinking they were hungry and giving them dead animals as food. Or that poor sap of a teenage girl that one time.
"Uh." Mercury shivered at that memory. "Just in case, let's get some food as well."
"Sure. No need for a dead rabbit." Emerald sighed.
So the two were off again.
"This is Delta. The targets have left the Hound. Repeat. The Targets have left the Hound."
"Excellent. Then proceed as planned.'
"Copy."
"Now then." Genji says as she got up and stared walking. 'You all know what to do, correct?" She says where one can see many Huntsmen behind her. Each of them being Rank 3 with a few being Rank 4. All of them being well trained and totaling five, six with her.
"Yes ma'am." The oldest of the group, a well known Huntsman in the field, says with a nod. "We are to surround and kill the Grimm this Alpha has on command, and if possible capture it." It was normal for Huntsmen to be assigned to capture Grimm, if only to study them. More so when a new species of Grimm came with the possibility of more may be seen.
"That's correct." Genki replies to him. "This Grimm has been shown to have unknown capability from reports we got of it. And by capturing it, we should learn more about it.'
"Tch." A female Huntress frowned. "We should be killing the thing instead of nabbing it. This freak has killed twenty nine Huntsmen and Huntresses. Not to mention over a dozen civilians that it encountered."
"Yeah." Another man angrily says. "Why make things difficult for ourselves, when we can just end it here and now." Because this Grimm is connected to Sammael somehow, and whatever goal he has for it by sending it to Japan. Not that she can actually say that, so she needed another answer.
"Because we must know more of our enemy to combat when the next Grimm like it arrives." Genki tells them. "This is the first reported species of this version. No doubt more of it will come later, and as such, we need to be ready."
"Screw that." A young male says with his teeth showing a snarl. "That fuck killed my brother. Like I'm going to waste my time trying to capture it."
"Then you may leave." Genki coldly says. "I'm sorry for your brother, and by no means do I feel happy when I learned this monster has killed many Huntsmen already. But remember, death is always a possibility when facing Grimm." The man looked like he wanted to say more, but stopped himself when the oldest of the group grabbed him and shakes his head.
It is saddening, but many forget that the life of a Huntsmen isn't as great as one thinks. For when combating even just the Grimm, they were still dangerous and some just had either bad luck or died simply because it happens. That or maybe even because the Huntsmen get cocky, as Genki learned that the first Huntsmen that went after the Hound died because they figured it was easy prey before the SkyWeb updated its details.
'And now I must see just what its purpose here is.' Genki thought as she remembered last night, just before she went to bed and spoke to Sebben.
…
...
"So you wish for my advice?" Sebben asked as Genki sat on a chair and a hologram showing Sebbens face was speaking with her.
"Yes." Genki nods and then faces the mayor of GrimmFall. "Have you gotten my husband's reports of what Japan's news is talking about?"
"I did." Sebben nods solemnly. Truthfully, he didn't even know about this threat since he had been busy with other things. So he only knew now after SAM-R-AI gave him the news. "And I can see that it is worrying the people of your home considering the news is calling it a speaking Hound."
"Has Sammael ever employed such Grimm in the past?" Genki asks, wanting specifics.
"...Not often if I'm being honest." Sebben rubs his forehead with his thumb. "It's very rare, but he only sends such Grimm when the situation calls for it. And even then its legendary Grimm which are rarely seen even to this day."
"While I doubt this thing is legendary, the fact is that any Huntsmen that chases after it have been slaughtered.' Genki thinks of the reports she got of those who hunted after it, only to become the hunted instead. "Still though, do you have even an inkling of an idea of why he sent this Hound here?"
"...I do have a theory." Sebben then says gravley. "You recall Baxtra, yes?"
"I do." A nightmare that the first Kaiju Grimm escaped its confinement.
"And were there any actual casualties when it escaped?"
Genki blinked, a bit surprised by the question. She then recalled back to that day, and realized it then. "...No. None at all, or at the least, none caused by Baxtra." If anything, the only people that died were those who used Baxtra's escape to take advantage of their own gorals, petty gangs and the like.
"My guess is that Sammael sent this Hound to cause fear." Sebben then says. "Right now, you're people are already nervous with Baxtra and the countless threats that your new heroes, the Shinkalions, are facing. However, up to nobody or any great amount of casualties have happened."
"I see." Genki understands now. "Sammael is using this Grimm not just to cause fear, but using it to slowly pick off the Huntsmen one by one." Making the people then assume they're losing their protectors to a Grimm the media is foolishly posting daily since it appeared and actually spoke.
"It's still a theory of course." Sebben then picks up a piece of paper. "After all, this report does state it only attacks when it is attacked, and doesn't seem to be actively hunting."
"But it is indeed still causing fear." Genki reminds him. "Not to mention those two teenagers with it. Which reminds me, anything on them."
"None I'm afraid. Almost as if they don't exist."
"Then I'll capture them and the Grimm and see what Sammael's plans are. Whatever this Grimm is here for," Genki touched her sword. "Then I will end its plans."
…
…
Already a few soldiers were going to capture the teens, having been keeping an eye on them with hidden drones. Once they capture them, then figuring out their role will be easy. As for the Grimm, they'll do their best to capture it, but if it proves too much to even do that, then killing it is the next option.
So with that, the team then went onto a helicopter and began flying off.
It had been born many years ago, created to be a type of hidden weapon. Placed in dormancy where secretly, it was given information of all sorts thanks to the link it had to its mistress. Learning, understanding, comprehending everything of the human world.
Then one day, the link vanished.
Negativity came all over, and the sounds of screams were heard. Realizing something was wrong, the Grimm woke up from its 'sleep' and saw two teenagers. A boy with silvery gray hair and a red eyed girl. While it could have killed them, it needed them. For her smell was on them, and such a thing will be useful for it. So it grabbed them after calling off the other Grimm, then went into a strange portal and went through it.
Where here, it found itself in a world it somehow knew wasn't home.
With Grimm that looked and acted like the ones at home, but felt ever so different.
Even then, it commanded them. Told them what to do. Used them and the ones from home that came with it to kill the humans that weren't the boy and girl, then dragged them off once more. Intending to use them to find its mistress while killing anything in its way.
Those foolish Huntsmen were always chasing it even though it didn't bother them. Attacking the wandering humans with a picnic and others when it ran into them, and saw they were about to call for help. Such an annoyance.
"...Grrrr." Now once more, it could feel it. The smell of wandering humans once again. No, not wanderers. The smell of metal and Dust was on them, and the noise of blades could be heard in the air. With a small growl, it then commanded a few of the lesser Grimm to get ready and move subtly.
Once more it seems it would have to fight.
Fine then. If they wished to die, then so be it.
Er, no action here, more of a prelude. Next time, a battle I've been hoping for and waiting to write. Emerald and Mercury versus soldiers with the Hound vs Huntsmen and Huntresses. Mind you, the former two will eventually join our canine friend later.
While I already have an idea how to do this and what to write, if any of you fine folks have suggestions and ideas, then go ahead. I'm gonna have a blast doing this.
