~ LX: The last Queen of Woodland Realm ~
~ Eleyewn ~
Woodland Realm, 3019 TA, March 5
He had not visited her statue for days but referring to her name brought a bitter smile to his face. A memory came back to him, the first memory of her. The day they had actually met, was so very long ago, his father was alive and he was not a king back then. He was the only son of Oropher. He had ridden out with his company to inspect Nature. However, Thranduil's had one more secret reason he joined the journey. He had heard about a very strong and special creature living in Greenwood, it was an elk of great power. He hoped to find it.
It was the third day they were returning home when Thranduil thought he had heard something down a stray path away from the usual route. He rose his hand and shush them turning his attention down to the long and dark path. "Stand back and do not follow me," he ordered and rode down the path curious to see what had gotten his attention.
Finally, at the end of the route between huge oak trees stood the elk and stared at him. It was such a magnificent creature, as Thranduil had suspected it to be. As soon as he set his eyes to focus on the source, there was a sudden movement above the trees and the elk turned away and left.
"I know you are there. Who is lingering in the shadows?" Thranduil spoke keeping a calm demeanour however his anger was starting to increase since someone dared to scare away the elk. He waited until the offender would show himself.
Suddenly a tall slender figure leapt down the tree and landed where the elk used to stand. The figure was wearing a cloak and hood hiding the face as it remained in the shadows and was staring at him. The figure did not move nor did it speak it just was staring at Thranduil.
"Reveal yourself," Thranduil ordered and accepted for the figure to obey his command "I am Thranduil, son of the King Oropher, Prince of this realm, who are you?"
"I care not, who you are Prince Thranduil," a strong but sweet voice was heard "You can be the King's son or the baker's, we are all equal under the woodland realm."
Thranduil face changed, anger won his calmness away and he was ready to strike down the man who dared to speak to him in such a manner "On whose authority are you speaking those daring words," Thranduil spat.
The silhouette finally stepped into the light and pulled down its hood, revealing the face of an elleth, a very charming elleth with piercing eyes. "On no ones! Are we not all children of Eru my Lord," the elleth answered in a kinder tone than before.
Thranduil glared at her, she was the reason he lost contact with the elk, and now she was daring to talk to him as if he was some a commoner. "What is your name, she-elf?" he asked adding all his rudeness.
"Eleyewn," she answered offering a smile to Thranduil kept staring at him without fear or worry.
He observed her in silence for a few long moments. He could not see her clothes as her coat was covering her gown, he could only notice her face and hair. It did not take long and he knew that she was a maiden of his father's halls. Her braids were enough to reveal that information about her. "Who is your father, Eleyewn of Greenwood?" Thranduil asked to know where he would find her.
Eleyewn took a step back and rose her head looking at the tree she had climbed off, "That my Lord you will have to find your answer on your own!" she said and before he leapt up into to three she added, "The elk is the spirit of all the animals of Greenwood, only those we pure heart can summon him."
Thranduil watched her disappear in front of him, she was moved with such grace and charm that it enchanted Thranduil. He turned and called to his company and leapt onto the tree and went after her. They spent all day looking for Eleyewn, but he never managed to find her that day. But the damage was already done. Eleyewn had earned his attention and now Thranduil was looking for her.
The memory was soon gone as he returned to the reality that he was living now, a world without her. Thranduil recalled why he mentioned her name. It was when Amethyst had asked him if Legolas would become king if Thranduil would sail to Valinor. And she would be then the Queen of Mirkwood.
Amethyst and Dínenion were dining with Thranduil in his halls. Lately whenever the Elvenking was around, Amethyst choose to dine with him. She always had questions, important questions about his leadership. And until now Thranduil had answered and tried to keep things calm. But when she dared to take the title of his wife things changed.
The Elvenking stopped eating and glared at her, his authority was now known. "Maybe it is not an official crime to make plans to marry the prince since your dear father expects the blood-oath of his father to be fulfilled," Thranduil said and straightened his posture gazing at her "It is even not wrong to dream about the prince and becoming his wife. Through all the centuries I have met many she-elves who dreamed of it."
Amethyst placed the fork against the plate and gazed at the Elvenking listening to what he would say. "I am not dreaming of it, I know it will happen. You can't ignore an oath taken by your own father by blood." she interrupted glaring at him. Her father, Dínenion, cast a glance over her finding her approach rude and hoped that it would not backfire on them.
"I cannot, however, overlook the disturbance you are causing. The woodland realm had only one Queen, and that was Queen Eleyewn. Even if you wed my son, you will never become Queen of the Woodland Realm. I am King and have forsaken too much to remain King. I am not planning to sail any time soon. Do you forget you are in my Kingdom and you are under my rules? I have not agreed upon anything. I have allowed the moonlight folk to find refuge in my halls." Thranduil's demeanour had now changed his words were not angry but solid "I have not accepted any oath yet, a blood oath or not, it was done by my father and me. It included me and your aunt, none of us is available any longer to wed."
"Excuse me, My King! Who told you such inaccuracies? It is a blood oath of your kin, you can't ignore it!" Amethyst pushed the matter further.
Thranduil crossed his legs and sat in such superiority. His body was placed in such a way that he was making it clear how self-centred he was. "Your gratitude is misplaced. I did not need to ask anyone. I already know what is happening inside my own halls. And you better know when to hold your tongue. If Legolas returns, and you both insist on that foolish oath, I will seek the counsel of the High Eldar, and if they find valid the oath we will have this discussion again. From now on, know your place. Because next time you will face the dungeons of my Halls even if you are Dínenion,'s daughter." the Elvenking concluded and rose from his seat. "I have lost my appetite," he added and took his leave.
Amethyst stared at the Elvenking in shock as he left the diner of his halls. She always believed that Thranduil had accepted the blood oath and that he would not fight against it. However, she was wrong. Thranduil never acknowledged the oath of his father. For him, the oath was broken when her aunt perished. And deep down Dínenion knew that it was true. But he had the last hope that they could somehow trick the Elvenking.
Amethyst was furious, she looked like a balloon ready to explode. "When Legolas returns make sure you undo the spells and have him remember everything, I will teach Thranduil a great lesson about his pride and ego," she demanded and her father sighed and nodded.

Thank you for taking the time to read this! Feel free to Review - Follow - Favorite!
MewLover9000: It means a lot that you read and reviewed the tale. Regarding Xena, you are on the correct track. I don't want to give away future chapters. I definitely appreciate slow burn in tales as well. I had planned to attempt to rescue Boromir and Haldir, but I changed my mind. I'm glad you enjoyed the fight and I hope to find the inspiration to create greater ones in the future. Again, many thanks! ^_^ I hope you keep enjoying it!
(I will address your question: I do not plan to add another Xena Universe character. The first reason is that I cannot write now since it will ruin the plot. Therefore, I will respond when the moment is appropriate. The second reason was that I opted to include just Xena in the story when I first conceived of it. I considered including Gabrielle in a couple of chapters. Until now, I have attempted to incorporate Xena's dreams. Ares and Heraclius are my favourite Xenas Universe characters, but I must be honest: I cannot fit them into the tale at the moment. Because I choose not to do it as a complete crossover. I am simply bored with the character of Xena. I believe I've answered your question, and I hope that in the future there will be a crossover with characters from both universes.)
amyunder: I will shut up ^_^ I am glad you enjoyed the story and keep reviewing it.
