As soon as Natsu recovered from his experience with the symbiote he and Gray started searching for any remains of it. Unfortunately black ooze wasn't exactly easy to find in the big city. They checked the church first, looking from top to bottom but it was no where to be found. Natsu tried to use his smell to track it down but the symbiote had no scent. The ran across roof tops and swung from buildings for hours during the night but still nothing.
"Any luck?" Natsu said to his partner over the phone.
"Nope. Sorry." Gray replied. "Do you think it might have gone into the sewers?"
"I really hope not because I do not want to go through that nasty place again."
"Listen is it okay if I call my part of the search off early? Aunt Ur bought this new TV and I want to get over there and help her install it before she hurts herself."
"Sure thing. I'll call you if anything happens."
He hung up and continued his search. Since neither he or Gray had found anything in the past few days since they started looking, he was beginning to think that maybe the symbiote fizzled out like Erza suggested. He was about to call it quits on the search when out of no where something jumped down and slammed him into the rooftop he was on. He pulled himself back up from crash and saw something that made him understand a whole new level of fear.
What had attacked him was a large, bulking, figure covered in black and resembling a dragon. It had reptilian eyes, talons, teeth, and forked tongue like Natsu but this one was far more frightening. Far more dangerous. Far more filled with hate. Natsu knew what it was and what it wanted. It was the symbiote and it had come for a fierce reckoning with him.
"Did you miss us Red?" The monstrosity spoke in it's inhuman voice.
"You ensnared another human being?!" Natsu realized in horror.
"One more better suited to our gifts." It grabbed Natsu and started to brutally punch him in the face. "We have one mission! To destroy you for rejecting us! And to destroy that partner of yours for driving you to do so! And our new host is more than willing to help us accomplish that! After all he wants you two do gooders destroyed as well!"
"What do you mean?"
The symbiote peeled away a little which allowed Natsu to see the face of it's new host and to his horror it was Laxus Dreyar. The very last person Natsu wanted infused with some evil energy.
"Hey Dragneel." He said with a sickening grin.
"Oh my God Laxus!"
"No! Not Laxus! It's Black Dragon now!"
The symbiote covered his face again and he lunged for Natsu, pinning him to the concrete.
"Laxus stop! You don't know what you're doing!" Natsu cried in pain. "You don't want to kill me!"
"You're right we don't. Not yet anyway. Killing you would be too easy. You haven't suffered yet and we intended to dismantle you piece by piece." He hissed in Natsu's ear. "After all we know all your little secrets. We know who you are, we know that Blue Tiger is really that nosy nerd Gray, and we know who you both care about the most. Like Professor Clive for example. Isn't he like a second father to you? And that med student Erza. Hard to believe a hottie like that ended up being friends with you."
"You leave them alone!" Natsu demanded. "They don't have anything to do with this!"
"If you care about them then they have everything to do with this. But perhaps we should start with the first person you ever started caring for. Oops! My mistake that would be your dear old Daddy wouldn't it? But he's dead. Dead because you let that mugger escape."
"Shut up!" Natsu snapped before punching him across his face.
"Ooo did I strike a nerve? Good. But since your old man is six feet under I'll have to start with the second person you started caring for. Your best friend Gray. I'll hurt someone he loves and he'll blame you for it because none of this would have happened if you had just listened to him the first time he warned you about us. Killing two birds with one stone."
"No! I won't let you!"
But Black Dragon was too quick. He dodged Natsu's lunge and managed to trap him by knocking a large piece of debris onto his body.
"Oh and by the way just so you can't call your bro and warn him about us." He dropped Natsu's now smashed cell phone at his face. "See you around Dragneel."
"No Laxus! You can't do this!"
But Natsu's cries were in vain. His only hope was to get out of the debris and get to his friend before it was too late. Right now Gray was at his aunt's house helping her install her TV.
"Gray I appreciate the help." She said. "But I could've done it myself."
"That's what you said when you tried to install that new microwave and you almost set the house on fire." Her nephew chuckled.
"One little mistake."
"Yes and I'm making sure that it's just one." He had finally finished getting it ready when the doorbell rang. "You expecting company tonight Aunt Ur?"
"No dear I'm not. I wonder who that could be?"
They went to answer the door and found Laxus on the other side.
"Hey Fullbuster." He said with a vindictive smirk.
"Laxus?"
"Gray do you know this man?" Ur asked.
"Dreyar. Laxus Dreyar." He introduced. "I'm an old school friend of Gray's."
"Is that so?"
"Friend is a relative term." Gray said.
"And you must be Gray's aunt. I've heard so much about you." Laxus said. "You know I think it's so nice that you've been raising him since his parents passed. I'm sure it would just destroy him if something were to happen to you."
"Well uh..."
"Could you excuse us for a moment Aunt Ur." Gray asked. "We need to have a little talk."
"Of course."
Gray and Laxus stepped outside of the house.
"Not to be rude Laxus but what are you doing here?"
"I thought we could have friendly chat about how I lost my job."
"Hey it's your own fault for creating doctored evidence."
"Which no one would have known about if you hadn't of stuck your nose where it doesn't belong. But I found a way to get even."
Gray didn't like the sound of Laxus's voice. There was something not right about it and before he could ask if Laxus was feeling well, he watched as the bully from his school years turned into the monster he almost lost his best friend.
"Laxus? What happened to you?"
"I think you know all too well what happened to us Gray. Or should we say Blue Tiger?"
Gray felt his body go stiff in horror.
"How did you find out?"
"Being attached to Natsu allowed us to learn all his secrets including the ones he kept about you."
"What do you want?"
"Revenge. Revenge for ruining our lives! You talked Natsu into rejecting us and you got us fired from our job. We're just here to return the favor but not by killing you. We're going to destroy the people you love most."
Gray's eyes immediately went toward the house where his aunt lived.
"We know what you're thinking." Black Dragon chuckled. "Oh I better get to my aunt before this monster harms her. Well that is a brilliant idea. I mean she is the only living family you have left!"
"Laxus if you dare try to-"
"But now that I think about it the old motherly type isn't that satisfying to me. I think I'd much prefer that other important lady in your life. The one you're all lovey dovey for. What's her name? Juvia I think?" He said. "I hear she's a real looker. You wouldn't mind if I paid her a little visit would you? Tiger?"
He was off before Gray could stop him. Poor Gray couldn't even tell his aunt he was leaving. He just put on his costume and headed for his boss's house as fast as he could.
