Warning Alert!
Those who live at Nowhere should evacuate immediately. Recent news has discovered an unknown but dangerous villain is hidden in Nowhere. Having the capability to create a weapon on par with a nuke, which has destroyed an entire army sent by the military.
All residents must leave their homes and bring only the bare essentials they need. You will be taken elsewhere and relocated until the villain and the army of Grimm has been dealt with. Any acts of refusal and resistance may lead to arrest however, and the evacuation should be done calmly and orderly.
Huntsmen and military troops are there to help you. Thank you for your time.
Things were getting interesting in the world, and by interesting the figure thought bad. Particularly in Nowhere.
'No, don't think such thoughts.' The figure told himself. 'There are people over there about to handle it. Strong people too.'
Truthfully, the figure knew he shouldn't be such a downer. While he knew the battle happening in Nowhere would be dangerous, that didn't mean all hope was lost. Thanks to Sebben and others, last he heard was that many powerful Huntsmen were coming alongside heroes. Even those from the different dimensions were included, and the figure knew they were quite tough. Even so, he couldn't help but feel some worry/ After all, this would be a dangerous fight for all participating.
Sammael was leading the charge, and a mad scientist known as Van Kleiss had a powerful army with him. Things were going to get ugly.
'Not that it'll stop me from the mission at hand.' The figure has gotten unusual reports coming from here in the Wilds. Animals weren't as aggressive, or just weren't around. Grimm weren't as seen often yet would make surprise attacks on towns and villages. Not to mention the bandits that lived here seemed to be growing more bolder, such as the attack on Denver. Such a thing shouldn't have happened unless...they had a sponsor.
This was his job and mission, to figure out the mysteries occurring here in the Wildlands. Taken by none other than Roland Deschain, the last Gunslinger and current wielder of a fragment of Gan's power.
On this day he was on a mission as already mentioned. Putting a stop to his search for the other worthy wielders of Gan's power for a small time. Even though the search was important, that didn't mean Roland should just stop doing jobs that could help the people of this world. And right now, Roland wanted to figure out what was going on in the Wilds. It was already dangerous before, but when people entered the place they were attacked indiscriminately. These days, it sure didn't feel like it and Roland had an idea of why.
Fallen.
'Would explain how bandits can attack a city and aren't targeted by Grimm.' While it's possible the attack on Denver where both bandits and Grimm struck was a coincidence, Roland didn't think so. It was clear to him that a Fallen is behind this. The only question was whether this is on the orders for Sammael, or their own.
"Be careful.' Roland then heard a voice, one from the Light of All. Gan. A being of immense power, and the one who granted Roland his newest abilities that could counter the Fallen. Normally the being wouldn't talk too much to Roland, as the entity had his own business, but occasionally he would speak to Roland at times.
"I will." Roland responded as he continued walking through the trees and shrubbery. Where eventually, he found what he was looking for. "Hm. Quite the problem."
Everyone knew about the Wildlands and how dangerous it was. Not that it stopped idiots, fools, or arrogant rich people to try and take the land of its resources. One of them being some tubby lard who was the closest to making a town...which then failed causing a great loss in money. Now that very town had lights, and clearly people who were walking about like they weren't surrounded by Grimm. Because there were Grimm that wandered, but in a position that clearly showed them guarding the place and on standby.
Roland kept calm, knowing any negative thoughts, even the smallest one might attract the Grimm's attention. Thankfully, it seemed that the Grimm weren't able to sense him properly due to the fact that the Grimm were living next to a negative farmhouse. As expected from bandits, who could only think of dark things be it barbaric or just plain petty.
Either way, Roland moved downward while taking out a small portable camera. He came here because word had it that the Wildlands were being very unusual. Now he had proof, and this was something others like Sebben could learn about once the deal with Van Kleiss was over. Better not to distract Sebben considering he had his hands full. Especially since Roland heard the latest news occurring in Nowhere. The bomb.
"What a waste of life." Roland muttered as he crept closer to the town. Eyes observing both bandits and Grimm. Noticing how the bandits on watch were quite lazy and were doing a horrible job at keeping an eye out for intruders. Leaving it to the Grimm mainly who while we're better, also had a pattern that Roland could exploit.
The last Gunslinger made his move with perfect timing. His footsteps were near silent, and his presence undetected by those watching. Roland also noticed the lack of cameras and was able to enter the town very much easily. Hiding in an alleyway once he got over the wall that defended the town, and then began to observe more.
'The town seems to have running electricity and water.' The Gunslinger thought as he saw how the bandits went on with their day. Some showing their spoils of conquest while others fought. One actually was playing on their phone, revealing this place had local internet.
They must have a technological genius or engineer to get the stuff here running. Not to mention Dust which Roland assumed must be from storage before it was left behind by the last company that worked here. Either way, this place had the basic things for living here and there with fighters all around.
None on Roland's level of course, considering that most bandits had weak training and a lack of skill. However, before Roland could make a move he spotted some figures. Then cursing a bit when he saw who they were.
Satyra.
"Damn." He cursed as he saw a massive scorpion lady and cat girl eating some ice cream. He knew the regular scum would be here, but Satrya as well? Either they were bandits that were just wearing the clothes of the human-hating organization, or they were the real deal. One that has an alliance with this group here.
Obviously there was no way Satyra would work with bandits. Even ones composed with faunus and mobians, and at best would hire such crooks for a mission. Which means that Satyra probably instead made a deal with whoever is truly running this show, a Fallen. Satyra has made deals with the group before, and they would do it again so long as there's benefits.
'And yet I wonder if Sammael is part of this scheme.' Roland knew how Sammael made deals with many people across the ages. However, he was far from the only Fallen to do so, and the group under him had their own lives and goals. The other Fallen, while ultimately obeying Sammael, lived lives of their own with schemes to pursue their own end games. So it's possible that it's not Sammael, but another Fallen that's here doing their own thing.
The question is, and the answer Roland is trying to find, is just what those plans are. Fallen after all had plans that can end badly with death. Considering the wiped towns and the event at Denver, it's pretty clear that the Fallen's plan already killed so many people. So if Roland was going to do anything to help, he needed to figure out what those plans were and then stop the Fallen. Kill them if he has the chance as well.
With Gan's power, killing Grimm is a lot easier. While Roland won't go in guns blazing, he was certain if he met the Fallen in charge of here he can handle them depending on the circumstances. At worst, it wasn't a Fallen in charge of here but maybe one of Sammael's cronies who was granted control of Grimm. Either way, Roland wasn't going to run and kept on moving to find out more of this place.
Taking pictures of the people here, the buildings, and even the Grimm. Along the way he then overheard something and stopped. Listening in closely as he heard some bandits speak.
"Gotta admit, things have been going fine for us since we got that creepy woman by our side."
"Shh!" The other man then told his companion. "Don't say such crap aloud. For all we know, that woman would kill us if she overheard."
Roland narrowed his eyes. He stood still and continued to listen in.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." The man said as he then took out a dagger and began to clean it. "Still, it's neat to know that thanks to Bandit Princess, the Grimm doesn't hurt us and it makes banditry a lot easier."
"True enough." The other man agreed while chuckling. "Now we can take out the nearby towns, and so long as we target the ones Grimmfall or the authorities don't pay attention to, it's all easy." Roland frowned while also being a bit angry.
It's true. Not all towns and villages were cared for by those with power. But that also wasn't an excuse for such scum to do as they pleased. Didn't help that because of the incident in Nowhere, most Huntsmen and Huntresses were busy there instead of watching the towns outside of Grimmfall. When the time comes, Roland will ensure these criminals paid for their actions.
For now though, he must wait and watch. Moving on to hear more information, which he did.
How apparently the town has more Dust for some kind of project. An agent heading toward Nowhere to steal something. Bandits being taken in to train harder to make up for their weaknesses. An experiment happening in the big tower's lower levels. Satyra troops apparently come here now and then to search for items here. Most of it didn't make too much sense to Roland, seeing as he lacks the information and context to understand what's going on here. But he learned enough to realize this place was up to something involving Dust. A lot of it.
Now Roland just needed to know why. It's doubtful they were getting so much Dust to make bombs out of it. Most likely it was going to be used to perhaps power something. It made sense seeing as while this place had electricity, only the electricity came from the installed Dust generators made years ago meaning if they wanted to power something else, they needed more than just that.
But what made Roland wonder is what were they powering? A new weapon of sorts? Some experimental tech? Either way, Roland would find out as thanks to the conversations he heard, he knew where the Fallen is. Inside the biggest building in this town which also had Grimm patrolling the area. Having Beowolves, Ursa's, Nevermores, and a few others watching from the land and even the sky.
This won't stop Roland as he then began sneaking towards the building. Though while doing so, he then heard a loud buzz. One that was heard by not just him, but many as they all turned toward the building. It seems something was happening down there.
"No. No. No!" Watts slammed his fists onto the console. Upset with a snarl as he looked at the stolen energy he had thanks to the creepy girl Salem has. Cursing as he overlooked the glass orb where the transferred energy is in. The power that Krunk held, and frowning.
Nearby the computer consoles were read, giving out a dangerous warning. That any more tampering would be very dangerous. As in a nasty explosion that'll likely vaporize the lab, Watts, and a good chunk of the building to nothingness. Except for Salem, seeing as she's immortal and even then Watts had no intentions of dying.
"Problems." Inside is Hazel, who came due to not having much else to do. Watts just huffed but decided to speak anyway.
"Unfortunately, yes." He admitted as he began recalibrating the energy. Inputting some data to keep the energy contained. "I have finally discovered the energy needed that could fuel our portal, but getting it to be compatible with the device isn't easy." If anything, as much as Watts hated to admit it, the energy was difficult to control.
"So we may need to use Dust again." Hazel commented with Watts growling.
"Maybe. But I'd rather use this one." Watts muttered. "While we can use Dust, we'd need enough Dust to power a village. That'd take forever." Not to mention time consuming while convincing the unruly bandits to gather it all. Sure they can force them, but these bandits were far from loyal.
"Maybe if we're lucky, Cinder's allies can tell us what's going on." Hazel said, pondering if maybe those two can explain how they got here in this world. An alternative way out of here of this world.
"Maybe. Though it's doubtful." Watts saw her allies, and he wasn't impressed. A girl who was a butt-kisser to Cinder while blind to the brat's faults, and a boy who, while more bearable, is just intolerable. Still, it'd be something if they could find a way out of here.
"What are you doing?" Both men then flinched as they saw Salem's new little girl behind them. Having not heard of her entering, and turned to find the creepy child behind them.
"E-edel." Watts stuttered before composing himself. "What are you…"
"Doing here?" Hazel finished. He was also on guard. While Salem said it would take prolong exposure and being near her, the fact that she can drain her life is still worrying. Both taking a step back.
Edel pointed, and both saw she was pointing at her pearl.
"Right. That." Watts said as he then went to the computer and inputted a code. The pearl he kept then released as he then stepped aside. Edel then aimed her hand at the pearl, which then floated over to her. Both men feeling more unnerved for some reason, but kept their cool.
"You." Edel then spoke to Watts. Who did his best not to flinch. "What did you need my pearl for?" Edel then asked a seemingly harmless question. Something which Watt's obliged by, wanting her out as soon as possible.
"Just to extract the energy to fuel the portal." He told her.
"Portal?" Edel tilted her head.
"We are...trying to leave this world." Hazel answered slowly. Not really sure if Edel would even believe them since she shouldn't know they're not of this dimension. But also saw no reason to lie either.
"I see." Edel then said, accepting the answer. "So you're not of this world, and wish to go back home." She nodded as she then dissipated into smoke. Though her eyes then looked at the slowly being constructed portal. "Thank you for the answer."
Hazel and Watts shivered.
"What a strange child." Hazel then said with Watts scoffing.
"As if." Watts huffed. "At the very least, she shouldn't cause any problems for us." The doctor went back to the portal. "If anything, this is causing more problems for me than anything else."
"Can you really get it to work?" Hazel asked.
"Of course I can." Watts confidently said. "This will just take time to truly complete." It'll go faster however if Tyrian can get the information on this other portal. That would be perfect.
The two then decided to leave to eat something. Leaving behind the portal they had and going upstairs. Then, a light came and from nowhere and exiting it was a man with with a cowboy style outfit and some guns. Roland then looking around and saw the portal.
"Well what do we have here."
Outside the building, Edel looked at her pearl. It was now as smooth as it originally was, with the Turbo energy extracted and now gone. Allowing Edel to use her pearl again without problem.
"Sir." Including communication, as she then spoke to whoever is on the other line. "I know what their plan is."
Roland is here, and he's sure to make a good impression. A painful one for the villains here. While I guarantee Salem and the others will live, it won't be without a few bruises and scars.
And Edel finally learns of Salem's plans, and it seems she's going to give them to Sammael. How he'll react is anyone's guess.
