The Buckingham Palace. Part 8...
I edited the chapter by Naruisawesome and I don't own Ghost Hunt.
As I dart through the main entrance of the family wing, I skid to the right and hit the back wall before sliding to the ground.
"Damn that hurt." I move my hand away from the lump that's already forming on my head. At least there's no blood this time. I rise from the ground without dusting my clothes off. When my foot squelches, I look down and gasp.
"Blood…"
Where did it come from? And whose blood is it? When I raise my head and turne in a circle, there wasn't just blood on the floor. It was on the walls and ceiling too. It takes all of my willpower not to vomit. I gag and cover my mouth with my right hand. This is not the time to get sick on the job. I swallow the bile that resides in my throat. A shiver goes down my spine.
"Who's there?"
A spirit appears in front of me. "You mustn't go in there."
I take a deep breath and remove my hand from my mouth. "I must. They won't survive without my help."
The spirit nods and hands me a charm. When I reach for it, the charm shimmers and transforms into a sword. The blade was pure white, and the handle was black with blue diamonds edged into it. I grab the sword and run to the queen's chambers. I raise the sword above my head, preparing to slash the double doors, when a spatter of blood drips onto my shoulder. I look up at the ceiling and see a corpse with a bloody red sword in his left hand. He comes down swiftly and I jump back to avoid the sword.
"Who are you?"
His cackling laughter grates on my nerves, and he swings at me before I can raise my own sword.
"Master Lin, don't let that sword touch you." One of my shiki says.
"Why?"
"That is the verfluchtes blutschwert; it gives a terrifying blood illness to anyone it cuts," the Crow Shiki says. I dodge another strike aimed at my head. The others better get here soon. I don't know how much more of this I can take. Mai's body is not used to using a sword.
The spirit comes at me again with the sword pointed at my chest. He comes at me so fast that there's no way I'll be able to dodge this in time.
Mai, Ayako, Monk, Masako, and John gape in shock when they see Mai's body rise from the couch and bolt out of the room.
"Mai, where are you going?" Monk asks.
"Mai, you must follow Master Lin. He cannot use his abilities properly while inside your body." One of the shiki whispers in her mind.
'Why didn't Lin-san tell me sooner?' Mai asks it.
"Master Lin is unaware of this; you must understand, young miss, that you will be completely vulnerable to spiritual and physical attacks until you return to your original bodies." Another shiki explains. Mai stands up from her spot by the monitors and turns around to look at everyone.
"Monk, I need you to call Yasuhara."
"What for?" Monk asks.
"I need the history of verfluchtes blutschwert." Mai replies.
"Huh?"
"Ayako, Masako, and John come with me. Naru and Mai are in danger." Mai says.
