Aurum left that meeting with a thin smile on her face and a look in her eyes. The Meeting had lasted from early in the morning to the wee hours of the next day, and Aurum was tired. Entering the apartment she had been assigned in the Beacon staff-house, she thought of an easy way to check for bugs, Hey Rose, I hope there are no cameras or microphones recording my room. Clever Ruby, That outcome has already been determined, so I cannot affect it. However the probability you are being spied on is the same as getting 500 Heads in a row.
Assured that she wasn't getting spied on, Ruby locked the door to her room and flopped down on her bed, her mind immediately going to her mom. I met mom... Ruby started crying I haven't seen mom in 14 years, and now she's just a scroll call away... Ruby was knocked out of her musings by a knock on her door, She knew straight away that it was Theodore, the headmaster having an extremely unique way of knocking on doors, vibrating his hand and rapidly knocking several times in a second.
Drying her eyes, Ruby sat up from her bed and walked to the door, upon opening it she was greeted by Theodore and Rumpole standing in the hallway. Inviting the two in, Ruby shut and locked the door, when she turned around she was immediately hugged by Rumpole,
"I could see how hard that was for you, if you ever need anything I'm here." Ruby pulled out of the hug, fresh tears now glistening in her eyes "aww, thanks Rumpole." Rumpole's face crinkled a bit, before finally relaxing, "With how much you've trusted us, and with how much you've risked, please, call me Xanthe." Ruby's eyes widened, and behind Xanthe Theodore's eyes widened to comical proportions. Ruby pulled Xanthe into another hug and Theodore, after recovering from the shock, got a dangerous glint in his eye.
After the two had separated Xanthe turned to Theodore and sighed, "Out with it."
"IT TOOK YOU YEARS TO TELL ME THAT! YOU'VE ONLY KNOWN HER FOR A YEAR!"
Xanthe had the decency to blush, "Its not my fault you're so foolhardy, of course I trust her when she has so much on her plate"
"Snrk-"
The two turned to Ruby, who was covering her mouth, mirth clearly visible in her eyes. Xanthe blushed harder, and Theodore's already red face became even redder. Finally after watching that display Ruby could handle it no longer, and burst out laughing, dragging the others in until all three were laughing.
Mentally strung out after a several hours long conversation, Ruby slept all of two hours, waking up at the brisk hour of 9 in the morning. After obliterating the small alarm clock on the nightstand Ruby sat up with a massive yawn and crawled out of bed and got dressed in some pajamas she had brought with her.
Stepping out of her small bedroom she sleepily walked over to the small kitchenette and started brewing herself a cup of coffee, after waiting a few moments for it to brew she poured herself a mug, she slowly walked to the couch in the corner of the small studio apartment. As soon as ruby had sat down and started sipping her coffee, she heard three very fast and light knocks on her door.
Sighing heavily she set her mug down on the coffee table and got up to answer the door.
Summer Rose was slightly nervous, she had never met another silver eyed person, let alone someone that know how to use their powers, bracing herself for the most awkward conversation of her life she gave three light knocks on the door.
She was greeted by a very unkempt Aurum, her hair was in quite a state of disarray, she was wearing pajamas, and she didn't have her contacts in. Immediately Summer regretted her choice.
"Uh... h-hi, um i was wondering if you'd w-want to talk, I-I-I kind of really want to g-get to know you" Summer asked with a heavy stutter. Dammit why cant I speak like a normal person!
The girl before her simply blinked and moved aside, waving her hand in a "come in" motion. Sumner walked in and opened her mouth to begin speaking. As soon as summer opened her mouth to begin speaking Aurum held up a finger and walked over to the couch and coffee table in the corner of the room, she bent down and picked up the mug on the coffee table and downed the whole thing in one swig. She then ran a hand through her unkempt hair to straighten it out and asked Summer if she'd like a cup of coffee.
Summer sat and watched this with her mouth still open and when asked just shut her mouth and nodded. Aurum simply walked over to the small kitchenette and poured herself another mug and got another out for Summer.
Walking out of the kitchenette and back to the small living room, Aurum set down the two mugs and flopped down on the couch.
"Ho-kay, What did you want to talk about?"
Summer just sat there dazed, then after a small hesitation she shook her head and sat down at the chair next to the couch.
"I want to know more about you, I've uh... never really met another Silver eyed Warrior, and now one just shows up out of nowhere... its kind of cool, so I just want to get to know you better."
Aurum simply smiled, Hey rose, I hope my mom is not gonna get freaked out by what I tell her, *Sigh* Ruby, you really are the least subtle person out there, if you cast a thousand dice, whats the chance you get a total number above 1500.
I know Rose, "Well this isn't how I wanted to do this, but since you came to me, I guess i'll let you in on a secret. But you have to promise not to tell anybody. Not Tai, or Qrow, or even Ozpin. None of them can know this. Understand."
Summer looked confused but nodded anyway, Aurum narrowed her eyes and reiterated "Summer, I need you to say it, Swear to me you wont tell a soul, Swear it on your Kids."
Summer looked even more confused now but swore anyways, "I swear on Ruby's life I wont tell a soul."
Satisfied Ruby nodded her head, "Okay, well then, its nice to see you again Mom."
Summer was now incredibly confused, she just wanted to get to know the new girl but now she made her swear not to tell anybody about something and called her mom?
"I-I... I don't understand? What do you mean? Why did you just call me mom?"
"Well, that would be because you're my mom, I'm your Daughter."
Ruby chuckled as her mom simply sat there in stunned silence, then she saw it click in Summer's head.
"Ruby?"
Ruby started to tear up a bit, but she bit her bottom lip and held it in. She gave a watery chuckle and said, "That's me"
Summer saw the girl start to tear up and moved seats to the couch, she put her arm around the girls shoulder and asked, "But how, my little rose is only three and is probably running around my house like a cannonball right now, how can you be her."
Ruby grabbed a tissue off of the coffee table and blew her nose, and answered her, "I came back mom, I came from a future where Salem had won, I was the last one, I... I watched them all die... I watched Yang and Blake and Weiss all die... I witnessed the fall of all of the kingdoms, Beacon and Vale Overrun with Grimm and flames, Mistral in a political mess and Haven without its headmaster, The floating city, fallen to the earth and submerged under the waves, and Shade's headmaster poisoned and dying as his city and school were under siege from a Grimm horde 10 Billion Strong. I was in the final battle... the last stand of humanity, it was just me and my team against Salem and the largest Grimm horde in history... Yang died first... our brawler, she was the furthest in front... she was impaled on a goliaths horn after her Aura failed... Blake was next, she tried to dodge a swipe but her dodge put her right in front of a blast meant for me... she died right there, three feet in front of me... and Weiss... she saw Blake die just as I did... and she snapped, she went ballistic, and died to a stray swipe, I was all that was left, and as I ran towards Salem with tears in my eyes... I was struck by a nevermore feather, and then I was in the Aether."
Ruby was openly crying now, she looked to her left to see Summer sitting in thought. She brought her scroll out of her pocket and opened up the photo gallery, she scrolled over to the photo she had taken in atlas after getting her Huntress License, tilting the scroll towards her mother she said, "This is us just after getting our licenses"
Summer inspected the photo with intense scrutiny, she saw the small girl with silver eyes and red tipped hair, and a cloak tied to her shoulders. She looked up at the crying girl next to her and sighed. "You really are my little rose aren't you."
Ruby simply sniffed, turned to her mom, and hugged her tightly.
"I've missed you so much"
