*Sigh* Well Folks... its time to ride the Why hasn't SniperTheNoodle Updated his story in over 2 months train once again. Its... honestly a pattern at this point and the worst part about it is all the people who seem to genuinely enjoy my writing don't get the content that i know i can deliver.

Lets start from the beginning. Writers Block. Everybody gets it, there's no denying that, write too much at once and you'll find yourself running out of ideas. Now, I updated daily for roughly half a month. I was bound to get writers block eventually. And once we entered the Shade Arc It struck like an ICBM.

Secondly. Motivation. A big part of why I like to write is because of the feedback I get, and the satisfaction of watching the view count tick up. That being said. Keeping up with this. And a job. And dealing with my personal life gets very difficult. Especially during what is objectively the time of greatest change for me so far in life. I... its honestly no excuse. And I'm sorry for having left you all waiting. But I'm going to try to get back to a sense of normalcy.

Thirdly, and lastly as this is the biggest A/N I've ever wrote. Consistency. I. Suck. Balls. At Consistency. Part of the reason, maybe the biggest reason I fail to update isn't out of some lack of time, in fact I've had more time than I know what to do with lately. It comes down to sitting down and spending an hour busting out a 1.5-2k long chapter that is well thought out, compelling to read, and progresses the story somewhat. And for me personally, if i have no regulation on when that happens, it wont. End of story. That is why for the short while i did update daily, it was always before 11AM and always around the same time, only diverging for a few exceptions, like when i had to go in to work early, or had a day off.

But my schedule is crazy and inconsistent as of late, and I only feel comfortable uploading a new addition to this story after once again finding something to ground me. I will no longer do daily uploads, the timing of it is just not in the cards. I'll work something out I Promise that. My deepest apologies for making all of you wait. But without further adieu, lets get into the first update in months to A New Chance.

Late spring was a nice time to visit Vale, the trees had all just regained their color, and the semi-cool weather was refreshing compared to the sweltering heat of Vacuo. Aurum mused about the differences between her old and new homes as she walked down a familiar dirt road. After just a short walk admiring the beautiful nature surrounding the small island of patch, Aurum found herself at the doorstep of her childhood home.

Smiling thinly as she knocked on the door, Aurum was greeted by Summer, who quickly invited her in. Saying hello to Tai as she passed him cooking in the kitchen, she joined Summer on the couch in the living room and asked what she came here to.

"So... did my mini-me join my little sis?"

A brief look of confusion appeared on Summer's face before realization dawned, Summer sighed, "Well, she got invited, and I was about ready to decline... Ozpin isn't exactly the most trustworthy person... but then I remembered how you went to school with your version of Yang. And I decided to let her in..." Summer gave her daughter a glare, "You better stop the future from repeating itself missy."

Ruby sighed, and gave her mother an apologetic look, "I've done enough prep in the last nearly 2 decades to prevent a lot of what happened... Its gonna be a bit rough, but if i do everything right, and nothing changes too significantly then we have a shot at beacon not falling and our daughters never having to join this war to begin with."

Giving a fierce look to her mother, Ruby continued "Since Torchwick has no henchman to save him, at least not to my knowledge I'm going to need something from you, k?"

Summer nodded and asked precisely what it was she had to do.

"So this summer, you're gonna need to show up to-"

With Affairs set in place and her brief visit to vale concluded, Aurum returned to Shade, stepping off the bullhead only to be immediately swamped by her daughter, looking down at her daughters gleeful smile and bright eyes Aurum chuckled and ruffled Neo's hair. "You miss me pipsqueak?"

Neo simply closed her eyes and hugged her mother tighter, only for the moment to be ruined by her partner, "Ever the mommy's girl huh Neo?"

Stepping out from her mother's cloak and towards the offending party Neo stuck out her tongue and blew a raspberry at Scarlet before disappearing in a burst of petals, only to reappear sitting on Scarlet's shoulders giving her a nookie. Scarlet protested, but once Neo began tickling her along with the nookie they both collapsed to the ground in an intense battle.

"Ack! Nooo! Neo Stop! Plea- Ahh! Nho heehe Sto-hophp Nooho-hehe-oooooo..."

Aurum watched on with slight mirth at her daughter's antics and reminisced. It had been a long time, but she still vaguely remembered her struggles with the Neo of her past life, the 2 sides waging war for so long. To think that her sworn enemy was now the person she trusted most.. it was almost funny in a way, her probably third greatest enemy, and probably the one with the worst grudge against her now loved her unconditionally. It was only a passing bonus that it made her objective easier. Of course at first that wasn't the case, but... she was very happy with how everything turned out.

Calling out Aurum spoke, "Alright you two, break it up." Nearly immediately she received a reply in the form of a simultaneous,"Yes Professor." and an "Okay mom, but she deserved it."

Aurum gave Neo a stern look, and in reply Neo simply shrugged. Pinching the bridge of her nose and sighing, Aurum mumbled to herself, "Whatever... they're best friends anyways."

Aurum then out of nowhere felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up, eyes blowing wide she drew her weapon lighting fast and spun it, deflecting the bullet bound for her head, glancing over to her daughter and Scarlet as two loud cracks echoed across Shade's campus, she found that they were nowhere to be seen. In her head, a voice echoed Sniper 283, guard tower on the wall, Scarlet is hit in the Shoulder, Neo is taking her to the Infirmary Aurum wasted no time rolling into cover as a third bullet whizzed by her head and a fourth shortly after grazing off of her aura on her thigh.

Aurum Hoped for her aim to be true and used her maiden magic to imbue her weapon with a hardened aura piercing magical bullet, steadying her breathing and adjusting her zero on her scope, she licked her finger, held it up and hummed to herself, then readied her self.

Aurum waited for one more bullet to graze off the ground next to her, counting 5. She then took a deep breath, poured the aura into her legs, and leaped. Aurum's jump took her well over 15 meters into the air and she took aim on the way up, right at the apex of her jump she exhaled... and fired, a bright blue flash came out of the front of her rifle and the recoil of her gun sent her backwards several feet as she fell, wincing slightly on the landing due to another bullet whizzing by on her way down, the shot was fired before she had, she had seen the muzzle flash on her way up.

Aurum reached into her cloak and pulled out a set of binoculars, far higher zoom than her sniper's scope. Aurum looked at her target and a small smile graced her face, the sniper was no more. Silently congratulating herself she put her binoculars away and turned her head to the now open door. Giving a thumbs up to her daughter who was standing in the door, she watched as she disappeared, reappearing right in front of her, "Mom? What was that?"

An intense look appeared on Aurum's face, "I don't know kiddo, but I think we should go find out eh?"

Walking back over to the parked bullhead, she stepped inside to find the pilot holding his stomach, a pained look on his face, with no hesitation Aurum helped the man to the floor and barked orders to Neo, "GET THE FIRST AID KIT QUICK!" Neo Hesitated for a split second, and then complied, rushing to get the first aid kit.

Handing the first aid kit to her mother, Neo then was told to get Headmaster Theodore and to call the EMS, Nodding and running to the headmaster's office,

Aurum applied first aid, silently berating herself for being so stupid, that Sixth shot must have been what hit him, if i had fallen straight down that bullet would have gotten me in the chest. But the sniper must have not accounted for recoil... if only I had just been quicker.

Aurum glanced up into the horizon, in the direction of the guard tower the sniper had been perched in. So many questions in her mind, Why Now? How were they in a City Guard tower? And most importantly Was this Salem's doing?
