The Next day, Team RWBY and Aurum awoke at the break of dawn, quickly breaking camp and beginning their mission anew. Most of the day passed without event, save for the occasional Grimm skirmish. As noon drew near though, Aurum called out to the girls once they had finished with the pack of Grimm they were dealing with.
"Alright girls, Now, I know you all want to go find that white fang base and stop whatever it is they're doing out here."
Team RWBY stared back in shock, but Aurum continued, seemingly unaware of the effect her words had on them.
"So I'm going to let you guys in on a secret, I've known where the base was the whole time. I just had to wait through till today for some personal reasons. Anyways, the base is under us."
Team RWBY had various reactions to this news, Blake looked ready to go right then and there, Ruby looked slightly confused, Yang looked a little angry and exited, and Weiss looked just angry.
Weiss was the first to speak up, "So you've just been wasting time?" She said accusingly, with a glare that would make most wither in fear.
Aurum had seen that very glare thousands of times.
"Nah. Had to make some stuff happen, or was your team's little chat last night just a waste of time?"
The three members of RWBY that had participated gained a faint blush and Weiss sputtered, "B-but, how?"
Aurum shrugged, "I didn't ask those questions about your motivations for nothing you know. We're asked to, to make you think about it and talk about it with your team. It may be a bit forced, but team bonding is always good. I couldn't just waste that."
The 3 members of team RWBY fell silent, and Ruby looked a lot less confused,
"Oh, so that's why... that's great! You literally tricked them into becoming better friends."
A beat of silence passed,
"Does that make it less genuine?"
Weiss facepalmed.
RWBY and their huntress sat on top of a tall skyscraper, peering over the edge at the train down below. The building they were on was within a massive cavern, the train in question sat on a rail as several White Fang soldiers milled about doing various tasks.
They watched as several soldiers loaded a large metal object into one of the rear cars, with Aurum pointing out that the object in question was a bomb.
The group then formulated a plan, and descended to the cave floor, though not in the typical fashion. A multicolored ball of rose petals descended in the cave and landed directly atop the train, with the 5 immediately setting their plan into action, Aurum dissolved into rose petals once again, taking off down the tunnel as fast as she could without alerting the white fang. Weiss and Blake descended into the cars, quietly waiting for the signal, While Yang and Ruby moved up the cars to near the front end, laying down atop the engine of the locomotive and waiting.
Suddenly, from the tunnel a loud screeching noise could be heard, accompanied later by a profound groaning and crumbling sound, like a skyscraper was attempting to rip itself apart. Immediately, a dark and gravely voice came on over a PA,
"We've been compromised, get on board NOW! Or we WILL leave without you!"
Ruby and Yang smiled from their place, with Yang quipping 'That's our queue.' The two jumped down and entered the engine of the train, only to find their mission already complete. They looked at each other and shrugged, deciding it would be better to start the engine now, then wait for the white fang to. They turned the throttle to max, and then destroyed the lever, leaving the front of the train to get back on top.
Meanwhile, Weiss and Blake had locked the doors of several train cars, with crowds of white fang being left behind as the train slowly began to roll down the track. The train was significantly less populated than it was originally, only staffed by roughly a hundred White fang and 4 Officers.
While Team RWBY began fighting white fang soldiers, Aurum waited, she had caused a major collapse in the tunnel, and had ripped up the tracks, right below where her daughter's patrol should be, she had to run at nearly a half of the speed of sound to reach that distance in time, seeming as it had taken 30 minutes to get to Vale the last time, and she had needed to cross half that in roughly one minute, so now she was waiting for the train to pass, roughly halfway between the new end of the tunnel, and where the train had started.
Aurum was idly checking her fingernails when the train barreled by, going well above the speed it was the last time. Aurum sighed to herself and sped up to match the train, before hopping on and entering the crew cars, only to come face to face with Torchwick's new Hench-woman.
"So, The legendary Huntress decided to pay us a visit hmm? Well-" Emerald Flickered out of Aurum's vision, reappearing right behind her, "Why don't I show you some hospitality?"
Aurum dropped to the ground, her leg coming out in a sweeping kick, managing to catch the girl off guard. Emerald responded by gaining an angry look and disappearing once more, her voice now disembodied, "I see you hold up to your reputation, sadly, you wont live to further it."
Aurum stood once more, before throwing herself to the right, and jumping back.
In her illusion, Emerald's face lit up in surprise, she was clearly confused, as from Aurum's perspective, she should have been invisible.
"You aren't the only one with tricks girl."
Emerald furrowed her brow, a determined look crossing her face. Emerald slashed with her blades, but once again the cloaked huntress dodged at the last second, though slightly faster than the first time, it was here that Emerald noticed that the huntress's eyes were shut... her face lit up in confusion once more, with an adorable look that read 'Wait what?'
Aurum sent out a seemingly blind jab, Emerald was too busy being astonished by the fact that her opponent was fighting with her eyes closed, and was nailed right in the face, being sent back across the car.
Emerald rose to her feet, and looked at her opponent, she stood in a classic boxer's pose, fists raised and ready, except her eyes were still closed. Emerald tried to use her Semblance to mimic the sounds of her own footsteps, trying to goad Aurum into an attack. But Aurum stood resolute.
The mint haired girl the decided to throw caution to the wind and charge, missing the smirk that grew on Aurum's face.
Charging Left, right cross left middle.
Aurum threw a hard right cross, hitting Emerald before she even had a chance to attack.
Uppercut left bias
Following up, Aurum gave a swift uppercut, Trusting in her companion completely, and smiling when she felt her fist find purchase.
Right Straight Kick, Direct ahead
Once again Aurum's attack stuck home, and Emerald was sent flying across the train car, her aura breaking on impact with the wall.
Aurum opened her eyes once more, seeing her opponent sat on the floor against the wall, Aurum walked over and knelt down, speaking to the girl on eye level, "You're better than this Emerald. I wish you the best."
Aurum began to walk away, making her way to the next car down, when Emerald called to her, "H-how? How did you fight me with your eyes closed? I even made audio illusions and you didn't even react."
"I have my rank for a reason you know." Aurum said as she walked out of the room.
I'm sorry for the short chapter, but I'm super tired right now, and really need sleep. I've been up since 6pm yesterday, and its nearly 4. Once again, bigger one on Thursday due to the shortness of this one. See y'all then.
