Ace hummed as he looked at Marco. "Shall we head to San?" Marco nodded. "We can. I look forward to seeing her again, yoi." Ace chuckled. "I hope she feels the same. San isn't exactly a people person." Marco could have guessed that. But he hoped this would go fine. They then headed out on deck, heading over to Stefan, Ace holding a hand on the wolf, before he held his hand out to him, Marco taking it, and a second later, they were gone in black smoke. When they landed, Marco managed to not lose his balance, having gotten somewhat used to it the other times. When they landed, they were on the beach, close to a tree that had Ace's mark on it. arco then looked around, seeing no one, neither animal nor person, aside from Stefan. "Where is everyone, yoi?" Ace hummed. "Probably by their cave, we should head there." Marco blinked. "They live in a cave? Even San, yoi?" Ace nodded. "Yeah. There is a treehouse here, but San never uses it. She's been raised in a cave and likes it. So don't look at her weird for it." Marco nodded. He wouldn't do that.
They then started walking through the woods, Ace seeming to know the way to their cave. They walked for about half an hour, before they came to a cave, Marco seeing the treehouse close by. As he saw the cave, a couple wolves came out of it, San coming out on Moro's back. "Ah, it's only you." Said San as she went off the wolf, heading over to them, Ace holding his hand out, shaking San's when she was close. "Thank you, for letting us come by." San shook her head. "It's okay, I get the reason. I didn't know this Marco was a mythical being when he was here, he was never much around Moro." Ace nodded. "I know, but we're here now." San nodded and moved a bit back, letting Moro come up to them, Ace petting the wolf. "Hi, Moro. This is Marco." The wolf then looked at him, ears going a bit forward. Ace hummed. "If you can change only your ears, you can hear what he says. Marco blinked, before he concentrated to do that, never having just changed that. When he had, he looked back at the wolf, ears going back. "Hello, Marco." Marco blinked. He hadn't expected the wolf to actually talk so he could understand. "Hello, Moro." Moro moved his head a bit to the side. "What are you doing here?" Marco let out a breath. "I heard you were a mythical, and honestly, I just wanted to say hi. I've never met a mythical." Moro gave a curious look to him, Marco not sure how he knew it. "That surprises me, Ace knows 3 more mythicals, even the guardian of the ocean." Marco blinked, looking at Ace. "You know 3 other mythicals, yoi?" Ace nodded. "I do. You can probably meet them too." Marco nodded. He would like that.
Moro then tilted his head. " I am surprised you didn't know. But you are welcomed on this island anytime. I am familiar with your phoenix. I knew the one before you." Marco blinked. "Do San accept that?" Moro nodded. "She listens to me." That had San nod. "I do. If Moro accepts you, I will too. I trust Moro's judgment." That was good to know. And he was glad the wolf accepted him. As he stood and spoke more with Moro, just small things, he noticed Stefan running off with the other wolves, probably to have fun. Stefan was probably glad to be back with his kind.
As the day moved by, Marco and Ace headed to check the island out, just walking through the woods while they chatted, seeing the wolves now and then, but never for too long. He enjoyed just walking and chatting with Ace, never really having it this calm on the boat. When they walked back towards the cave, Marco having no idea how Ace knew his way back as they had walked around, Ace stopped when they were close to the small clearing around the cave, Marco not sure why and was about to speak when Ace held a hand out. "They are having a bonding session." Marco blinked, looking at the clearing, now seing San and all the wolves there. The wolves, aside from Moro, were running around San, who was turning on the spot with her hands out, eyes closed, a calm look on her face. Moro was lying a bit away, looking at the group. San then suddenly stopped, head tilting upwards as she let out a small howl, the wolves stopping with her and raising their heads, howling with San. It was a beautiful sight. Ace then gave a small chuckle. "This is how wolves bond. Stefan is just here for today, and probably why." that made sense, the wolves probably wanted to be around Stefan too, and this was his kind.
They stayed a bit away for a few more minutes, before they seemed to be done, Marco and Ace heading to the group, San looking at them. "Had a good trip?" Ace nodded. "We did. The island is in good shape." San nodded. "It is. I am glad no one has come to destroy it." That was right, the island had been attacked before, the reason there were so few wolves around now. It had Marco take a step forward. "I'm sorry your island has been attacked before, but I am glad you who are here made it, yoi." San gave a slow nod. "Thank you." He then saw Moro moving his head, making him change his ears again to his phoenix one. "You are a good person, Marco. I am glad that out of everyone, you are the one to have found the fruit you did." That had Marco feeling glad. Glad Moro thought that. For him to have known the one before him, Moro must have been around for long. "How long have you been around." Moro shook his fur. "For centuries, millennials even. If I die, I am reborn again, here to protect the island and the wolves on it." It was all amazing and extraordinary to hear. Marco didn't know how it would be if he died, if he would die or be reborn again. But seeing as there had been a person before him, he had a feeling he would die. But it would be tough as he could regenerate fast. He still wondered how the person before him died. Maybe Moro knew? "How did the person before me die, yoi?" Moro let out a low hum. "He drowned. You might be able to regenerate but seawater makes you weak. You can survive some time underwater, but only for so long." That made sense and Marco noded. Before he could speak, Moro did. "I am glad you're with Ace. He's a good person too. He works in a horrid world and makes things easier for many, including us. He has helped many fights." Marco nodded, sending a look at Ace, who was petting one of the wolves. It wasn't Stefan, but maybe this Tsume Marco remembered from last time. Ace was working in an abominable world, working to save and help people. He was doing an amazing job of it too, even though it has its downsides and many risks.
As they sat and spoke for a bit, San and Moro said they needed to take a trip around the island, leaving them alone by the cave, the other wolves following after Moro. As they were gone, Marco looked at Ace. "Join me for a flight, yoi. Just a quick one." Ace gave a look to him. "Are you sure?" Marco nodded. "I am. Come on, I want to show you how it feels to fly." Ace nodded. "Okay, but if you drop me, I will be mad." Marco chuckled. "I won't, I promise." Ace nodded. "Fine, Let's try this thing then." That had Marco glad, glad Ace trusted him. Marco then changed into his phoenix from, lowered his upper body some, making it so Ace could get on his back. Ace did move to sit on his back, going a bit slow, most likely a bit unsure about it. As he was on, Marco sent a look at Ace, who nodded, holding on to his fire feathers. Marco then moved to carefully fly upwards, hearing a small surprised sound from Ace as he held on tighter, legs also moving to hold around him tighter. Marco could understand that. Suddenly flying could be scary, and it would be a long fall soon, as Marco flew higher up. He made sure not to fly too fast, to not scare Ace. He got this was somewhat scary. Marco then flew a bit around, Ace seeming to start to enjoy himself, his grasp loosening, one time even leaning forward into the wind, Marco seeing Ace closing his eyes in his peripheral vision. He was glad Ace was enjoying himself.
Marco then flew a bit more around, before he slowly landed on the ground, Ace moving off him and Marco changing back. When he had, Ace gave a smile to him. "That felt nice. It was fun." Marco smiled back. "I am glad. I had fun too. I enjoy flying." Ace nodded. "I get it. It felt nice. We should also think of heading back soon, evening is approaching fast. It was, and they had been gone almost all day. Time moved fast when they had fun. But it also brought up a thing Marco wondered about. "What about the other mythical, yoi?" Ace hummed. "He only comes out at night, so we must take that another time." Marco blinked. "We can come back, yoi?" Ace nodded. "We can. I think I heard you got accepted by Moro, so we are welcomed anytime. But next time, let's try and stay for a couple days." That sounded like a good idea.
They stayed for a couple more hours, until the sun had almost set, before they headed back to the boat, giving a goodbye to both San and Moro, Moro saying he hoped to see them again, which Marco hoped too and had a feeling they would. Overall, it had been a good day.
And that's the chapter, hope you enjoyed
It might to have been the longest one shot, but it is what I came up with for now, and I can do more about it later as they take another trip might be in the main story, I'll think about that
