Chapter 7

A/N: Happy New Year everyone! 2014 is finally here, I really miss last year though, and I feel like I'm dreaming but no matter. As they say, time marches on. It is a new year, and my resolution is to update every Friday (Including this Friday) until I finish this story, so if you see me slacking off, feel free to smack me and remind me to get my lazy bum back to work ok? Also, I'm so sorry that this chapter was so short and filler-ish. I promise that the real action will get started soon. (I think I've said that before, but please bear with me!)

The effect those words had been spontaneous. They turned from warriors preparing for battle to teenage girls getting ready to go the mall in a matter of seconds. Lily was a bit reluctant to leave her parents alone, but Alice managed to convince her not to worry too much.

They apparated to the mall and nearly attacked the store in a mad dash to get Mary ready for the ministry ball. After nearly two hours of searching, trying on, fake modeling and many complaints from Alice about "strange muggle fashions" they finally found Mary the most wonderful dress. They debated for a little while about getting her a nice set of dress robes- Mary claimed that there was no such thing as "nice dress robes"- and finally won out against her other fashion challenged friends.

The girls were about to leave the store, when Mary saw an ice cream shop a couple blocks down the street. "Last one there is a rotten egg!" She cried taking off running.

Of course, it was no use. Marlene's long legs and Quidditch training allowed her to speed across the streets without even breaking a sweat. Lily was a close second- what with all that running back from the Room of Requirement or the library with about a minute left till curfew- but Mary and Alice were trailing behind miserably.

"Bloody… fit… people," Alice managed through pants after they finally caught up. Marlene took a dramatic curtsey and made a group of old ladies give her funny looks, and Lily stuck her tongue out .(A gesture most decidedly invented to make Petunia sniff at her in the most comical way imaginable.)

They all ordered some ice cream and aimlessly strolled around town lapping at their cones and talking about nothing and everything in particular. They visited the park and skip rocks and play on the swing sets, attracting many odd looks from all directions. None of them care though, it felt too good to shed their responsibilities and just frolic in the sun.

No NEWTS, no wars, no Severus, no James, no responsibilities, and basically, no stress. Lily found herself wising, quite often through that day that time would just stop and let her relax with her friends on the swing sets for ever.

A/N: So what do you think of my baby chapter? I'm sorry again that it's not longer, but I swear that it'll get better from here. So just let me know what you think!
