His week had been hell, to say the least.

Nastu was never one for school, and college was ten times worse. He wanted to have the year break but his mom convinced him that the sooner he starts, the better.

It made sense, but Natsu wasn't even sure of what he wanted to do for his future, let alone figure out what classes to take for them.

In the end, he always considered his mom's advice better than his own, so he listened to her.

Didn't mean the classes didn't suck, though.

Natsu was pretty sure that the only class he ever enjoyed and actually did good in was chemistry. Something about chemical reactions was cool to him, and he found it surprisingly easy to understand.

Besides that it was mostly just passing grades, not many A's on his report cards. His mom knew he tried his best though, and he was grateful that, at least to her, that was enough.

So classes hadn't been going well. He was taking five to start, but throughout the whole week he didn't see the girl that he'd seen on his first day again.

Natsu went out of his way to walk the halls, check back at the escalator, and even peeked inside a few classes.

Nothing.

He'd wandered around so much, he was starting to memorize where everything in Fairy Tail was, which was no small feat considering its size.

It had bummed him out, and he wasn't sure that he'd ever see her again.

Until Monday came back around.

Natsu intentionally took the wrong way to his Calculus class again. He stood near the bottom of the escalator, checking the time.

9:28 A.M.

Just a minute before he'd seen her last week. With a glimmer of hope, he got on the escalator. He rode it all the way to the top.

No sign of her.

Figuring he still had a minute before class, he took the escalator back down.

He knew he would look stupid, but then again nobody was around, just like last week.

They added a new escalator for what? You'd think it would be getting a lot of action around the area, but Natsu had yet to see anybody else in that area.

He got off, turning around one more time to go back up.

Once on, he looked up, and sure enough, there she was.

Her hair was in a messy bun this time, baggy sweatpants and a hoodie on, a more comfortable look, but she still looked perfect.

He wanted to say something to her as they passed, but his mouth wouldn't move. He just stared at her, and this time, she looked at him.

She gave him a soft smile, one he was too frozen to return.

He looked back once she passed.

She didn't.

He made it to the top, watching her leave to probably go to her next class.

Stupid!

How did he not say anything?

Now he was gonna have to wait another week to see her. He groaned, walking into class and taking his spot next to Gray.

Natsu had already told Gray about his efforts to find her again, and how he'd hoped to see her today.

"Well?" Gray asked, a slight eager expression on his face.

Natsu slumped on his table with an exaggerated sigh.

Gray wanted to laugh, but decided against it.

"Didn't see her?"

"No, it's worse than that. I saw her, but I didn't say anything." Natsu mumbled, not looking up.

"She even smiled at me, but I just stared at her like an idiot."

"I'm not sure you could stare at her any other way," Gray said with a chuckle.

"Well at least she smiled at me!" Natsu sat back up. "If she saw you, she'd probably turn back around, or scream, or—"

Natsu was interrupted by the professor, announcing the start of the class and what the topic of the day was.

Gray just rolled his eyes.

"Look, it sounds like you know at least once a week where she'll be. That means for at least a little while longer, you can try again," Gray whispered.

"I don't want to have to wait until next week," Natsu grumbled.

They sat the rest of the class in silence. Natsu walked Gray to his next class again, then headed on to his own class, disappointed.

It was Thursday. Natsu wouldn't admit it, but he really liked that half of the classes he was taking, Gray was taking too. It was nice having someone you knew with you.

They'd just got done with their composition class, and made their way to the college's cafeteria.

They each bought some food and found a table to sit at. They talked about how stupid their classes were, which professor they liked best, and how the food here wasn't too bad.

Gray was in the middle of talking when Natsu looked up, and saw her.

She was buying food, and she must've said something funny because she made the worker laugh.

"Gray, shut up."

Gray paused for a second, "what?"

"It's her," Natsu breathed.

"What are you talking about?"

"Behind you, it's the girl I've been telling you about! Don't make it obvious, but—"

Gray did a whole 180, eyes immediately finding her because, like Natsu had told him, she was stunning.

He turned back around, "you think she would like you?"

"Would you shut up!" Natsu fired back. "She's going to a table. She's sitting down. Alone!"

"Well what are you waiting for, hot head? Go talk to her."

"That's creepy! What am I supposed to say, 'hey, I'm Natsu, I've only seen you twice but I've been looking everywhere to find you again, what's your name?'"

Gray rolled his eyes, "just tell her what you've told me, you think she's really pretty, ask for her number or something. I wanna see her say no."

"Listen here, frost breath, she wouldn't be able to resist me!"

"Are you gonna say something or not? If you won't, I might have to give it a shot," Gray said with a smirk.

Natsu's eyes widened.

"Yeah right, if she wouldn't go for me she'd never go for you! I'd like to see you try!"

"If you insist."

Gray started to stand up, but Natsu grabbed his hand and yanked him back down in his chair.

"The hell!" Gray said, fake cradling his wrist.

"Fine, weirdo, just watch. I'll show you how it's done."

Gray chuckled, and Natsu jokingly licked his pointer and middle finger and fixed his eyebrows.

"Here goes nothing," Natsu said, slowly standing up.

Gray turned around to watch as Natsu passed him. The girl was eating her food and scrolling on her phone.

Natsu was nearing the table, and Gray could've sworn he heard him clear his throat, about to say something.

The words were a second from rolling off his tongue, he opened his mouth to speak, and then-

Someone came up and hugged her from behind.

A guy.

"Hey Lucy, sorry I'm late, babe."
