The Aftermath

With aching bones, Tygra sat up. Looking at Gard and his brother, the Tiger of Thundera asked: "You alright, Gard?"

Already attending to the wound that Pumyra had inflicted upon him, Gard nodded. The Old Savage knew well the healing plants of the Wilderness, having lived there long enough it was only natural.

While Lion-O and Tygra spoke to one another, Gard sat in silence. His mind was elsewhere, thinking of his youth from so long ago. He did not wonder about Pumyra's death, at the Battle of Sengann Fortress he had seen a similar result with Jaques and was beginning to understand why she had died. Mumm-Ra was obviously not all powerful, there was one who had left some strange and marvellous powers on Third Earth that could block his powers, lift his spells, whatever the words chosen, they applied.

Things had been different before the coming of the animals. How would Third Earth have been different? Gard could hardly imagine. What manner of states would have emerged had Mumm-Ra's ship not crashed upon this sphere? A marvellous question, all Gard knew was that the arrival of Mumm-Ra and the animals had completely changed the history of this orb that the Father of the Gardites called home. And yet, another question was born: Who else had come to Third Earth from the stars?

Gard had begun thinking of his youth and now he was thinking of things he could scarcely imagine. He could not even imagine the origins of this planet of his, the origins of Third Earth, a planet knocked out of orbit by its own sun, becoming a moon of the giant known as Jupiter. There were things that the creation myths of his people or any other could not have dreamed.

Holding his axe aloft, Gard stared at the blade and wondered when he would next wield it against Donalbain. A final battle was coming, he knew that to be so, but when it would happen and where? Where was this fourth stone that the ThunderCats and Mumm-Ra were searching for? It had to have been somewhere on Third Earth, but where?

Where indeed? Third Earth was vast and the Wilderness had a way of quickly reclaiming what was rightfully its own. If those that had been granted the Soul Stone has suffered a fate similar to Thundera in the past, then their home could have quickly been overrun by the Wilderness.

"Lion-O, what exactly does this Soul Stone look like?" asked Gard.

"Blue and diamond shaped." Replied Lion-O. "Do you think you may have seen it?"

"I may have seen many things that look like it." Stated Gard as he stroked his chin. "Blue and diamond shaped is not exactly uncommon for a stone."

"Terrific…" sighed Tygra. "The proverbial needle in a haystack. Where exactly do we start?"

"I'm not sure." Commented Gard. "Though I may have an idea."
