She Will Be Loved
Chapter 18: Moving In
By Love Ink
Angela had to admit it felt strange moving into Juice's little house. It was a nice place, way nicer than the dump he lived in back in New York. The living room was on the small side with a large TV in front of a big black leather couches. Off of that was a small kitchen and dining room table with chairs that looked suspiciously like the one that had once been in her Aunt's house before Happy got her a larger one for Christmas. Off the living room was a hallway leading to three bedrooms; the master with a bathroom inside and two others with a bathroom between them.
"This place is nice, Juice," she said, noting the marijuana buds in the glass jars on the kitchen counter. "Very you. Love the couches."
Juice shrugged a shoulder, his hands shoved deep into his pockets. "Yeah? Was gonna get those bean bags I had back home again, but I remembered how much you hated 'em."
She raised an eyebrow at him, surprised he'd remembered that. She had only made the comment once or twice. "Good choice."
"Yeah. Think we got all your boxes in your room. Not really any rhyme or reason to them, though. Koz and Hap kinda just threw them in there. I can help you unpack and...organize if you want."
Angela smiled. He had such a sweet look on his face, all she wanted to do was kiss him. Guilt filled her at the idea; Raj had only been dead a few months and she was already thinking about kissing Juice! What the hell was wrong with her? She pushed that urge aside, feeling her face heat up in a blush. "Yeah, sure," she said, handing him a box with all of her bathroom stuff. "Go crazy."
He grinned at her, taking the box towards the bathroom just down the hall from her room. She could hear him humming to himself as he started organizing her toiletries. Putting on some music, she started unpacking her room, decorating it and hanging up her clothes. A few hours into it, her stomach started to grumble. Pausing her music, she headed towards the bathroom to check on Juice. He was so focused on the task at hand, he didn't even hear her approach. She bit back a laugh when she realized what he was doing. "Juice," she said, catching his attention. "You don't have to organize my lipsticks by color, y'know."
"Huh?" he asked, lifting his head and blinking at her for a moment before he realized what she'd said. "Oh shit. Yeah, sorry. Kinda got in a zone."
She laughed softly, moving to stand beside him. "Here, I'll help you."
His responding smile lit up the whole room. "Thought you were gonna fuck with me and mess them all up for a second there," he admitted with a little shrug.
"Now, why would I do that when you've worked so hard to tell the difference between 'Tickled Pink' and 'Barbie Pink'?" she teased, nudging him lightly. "I'm hungry. You hungry?"
"Yeah. What're you in the mood for? They don't have big chain restaurants around here, but there's still good places around town. We can stay in or go for a ride. I could show you around Charming or something."
She grinned at him and nodded. The idea of riding on Juice's motorcycle, her arms wrapped around him as they flew through the town, made a familiar fire start to build in her belly. It wasn't a betrayal to Raj if she rode with him. They were just two friends that needed to get from one place to another. There was no reason for her to feel guilty about that. "How 'bout we get outta the house? I have a feeling we're gonna be spendin' a lot of time together here."
He chuckled, nodding his head enthusiastically. "Sounds great."
"Cool. Let me get changed, so we can get outta here," she said, taking the last lipstick from him and putting it in the drawer. "Now get out, so I can shower quickly."
"Y-yeah. Totally. Me too," he said, before his eyes widened. "Shit. Not with you. In my own shower. Over there. Not here. This is...all you."
Angela laughed. She tried her best to banish the thought of sharing a shower with Juice, his hands all over her body, out of her brain. She pushed him away gently, hoping he didn't notice the blush she felt coloring her cheeks. "I know what you meant. Go shower, goof."
Juice was finishing up organizing Angela's movies, incorporating them with his own in the living room when she walked into the room. He stopped just to stare at her. She was in a simple pair of jeans, no rips, nothing fancy, just a normal pair of jeans and a tank top with a baggy black sweatshirt over it. His baggy black sweatshirt, he realized. He felt his heart flip-flop in his chest; she was stunning. She shifted awkwardly under his gaze, tucking a stray hair behind her ear. "What?" she asked, hands shoved deep inside the sweatshirt's pockets.
You're beautiful, he thought, holding back from saying it out loud. "I was wondering where that sweatshirt went," he said instead, reaching out to tug on one of the hoodie laces. "Looks better on you, though."
"Does that mean I get to keep it?" she asked, her dark eyes alight with amusement.
He shrugged a shoulder. "I'll think about it," he answered on a shrug. The only reason he'd want it back would be because it smelled like her; he liked the idea of having her close no matter where he went. "You wear it often?"
A blush covered her cheeks as she shrugged and nodded. "It's comfy. I um...I liked wearing it 'cause it reminded me of you. Made me feel less alone when I was...feeling lonely back in New York."
Juice felt his own cheeks heat up in a blush. He loved the idea of her wearing his sweatshirt when she was feeling lonely. It meant she'd missed him so much just his sweatshirt was comforting; he liked that he meant that much to her. "Well, now you got me, so I'm gonna need that back...eventually."
"Well, you know where I live," she said, following him out the door towards his bike. He grinned, nodding as he placed his extra helmet on her head. Despite knowing she was perfectly capable of hooking up the strap for herself, he did it for her, letting his fingers linger on her skin for a moment. She smiled back at him, her dark eyes sparkling. "Thanks."
He fought the urge to lean in and kiss her, grabbing his own helmet and putting it on his head instead. He nodded, swinging his leg over his bike and waiting for her to get on behind him. She slid in closer to him, moving her arms around his waist just as he started his motorcycle. He revved it up, tearing out of the driveway a little faster than usual for one reason. His move had the desired effect, Angela drew herself in even closer to him, her cheek pressed against the back of his blank prospect's cut. He smiled to himself, pushing his bike a little faster. It was the first time they'd ever ridden together; and he couldn't deny how good it felt to have her wrapped around him. He made sure to ride a little slower and take the long way to the little diner just outside of Charming.
Pulling to a stop in the parking lot, he waited for her to climb off before getting off himself. She handed him her helmet, raising an eyebrow at the little diner. "You afraid to be seen with me in Charming, goofy?"
"No, 'course not," he said with a scowl. "My brothers are always at Flo's. Kinda wanted you all to myself. 's been a awhile since we got some alone time."
Angela's responding smile sent butterflies through his stomach. "All right, goofy. Let's go get some grub."
Juice held the door of the diner open for her, allowing her to walk in front of him. The waitress showed them to a little booth in the corner, giving them sticky plastic covered menus. There was a twinkle in her eye as she looked between them. She winked at him before telling them she'd be back to take their orders. Angela raised an eyebrow at him. "This place is cute."
"Yeah. They have killer Matzo ball soup. Almost as good as the one at Mrs. Z's place," he said with a big grin. Angela's face fell for a brief moment, her dark eyes hyper-focused on the menu. He'd thought the mention of their favorite hang-out spot would bring back happy memories of all the times they'd wind up there after a long night out. He didn't think it'd upset her. "What? Somethin' wrong with Matzo ball soup?"
"No," she said softly, messing with the charm on the necklace hanging around her neck. "I um...I was sitting at a booth at Mrs. Z's...and Raj was comin' to meet me and..."
Juice felt like the world's biggest asshole. He'd known that. What was he thinking bringing it up? Sure, they had a lot of good memories there, but her last one of that place was seeing her boyfriend get mowed down by a car! "Shit, Angel. 'm sorry, I didn't even think..."
"It's okay, it's okay," she assured him quickly. She raked a hand through her hair before setting it on the table, fiddling with the edge of her napkin. "It happened. It's done. I'm...I'm getting past it. Don't think I could ever go back there, but I'm getting better."
He reached out, placing his hand over hers and giving it a squeeze. "One day at a time."
She nodded slowly, giving him a shaky smile. "Yeah," she breathed on a small nod.
Her thumb stroked over the side of his hand, sending tingles through his body. He moved his thumb over the underside of her palm, a little surprised she hadn't pulled away yet. They were holding hands. In public. Something he'd always wanted to do. If they hadn't just been discussing her dead boyfriend, he would've leaned over to kiss her.
"You two ready to order?" the waitress asked.
Angela pulled her hand away quickly, a light blush coloring her cheeks. "Oh um...yeah. I'll take the burger combo with fries."
"And a side of ranch and barbecue sauce," Juice added in, knowing it was what she wanted. "I'll take the same. And two milkshakes. One with all three flavors and one with just chocolate."
"Comin' right up," the waitress replied, walking away with a small skip in her step.
"You remembered," Angela commented, her smile bigger than before.
He let out a sigh of relief, grateful she didn't look sad anymore. "Well, yeah. You're the only person I know who gets both and mixes that them together. So weird."
"Says the man who likes all strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate all mixed together in one milkshake!" she shot back on a laugh.
"It's called Neapolitan and its fuckin' delicious!" Juice contested with a grin. He was happy he got her to smile again, got her to laugh; he'd been worried he'd spoiled the night by mentioning Raj. They bullshitted a bit, reminiscing about other memories of New York that didn't have to do with Raj until the waitress came back with their food. She set the milkshakes and food in front of them, and he pulled his towards him, scowling at Angela. "I'm not sharin' with you."
She thanked the waitress before sticking her tongue out at him and throwing a French fry at his face. "Meanie," she said, laughing when he threw one back at her. She caught it, dipping it into the milkshake before taking a bite. "So good."
"Right? Dunno why people knock it. Milkshakes and fries is the perfect combo," he agreed on a grin. "Haven't had a sit-down meal like this since Christmas."
Angela frowned a little, shaking her head at him. "Surprised the Sons let you out long enough to hang out."
"Hap and Koz gave me the day. Said as long as I'm helpin' you so they don't have to, no one is allowed to bother me," he explained, leaning back against the seat with a sigh. "Can't wait 'til this stupid year is over. So tired of gettin' pushed around."
"You chose it," she reminded him on a shrug.
That wasn't what Juice was expecting. He thought she'd be sympathetic and agree with him about how much it sucked. "Yeah, I did," he agreed awkwardly. He took a long sip of his milkshake for lack of a better thing to do. Clearly, Angela still didn't approve of him prospecting. Maybe she just didn't know the club well enough. Maybe if he got her to go to a club party, she'd see how great the club was. "There's actually a party at the clubhouse this weekend if you want to go."
Angela didn't look too excited. "I dunno."
"C'mon! We celebrate you comin' home! It'll be fun! You can meet all my brothers! I mean, some of 'em are pretty weird, but you'll love Chibs, he's my sponsor and Gemma's been dyin' to meet ya."
"Maybe," she said on another shrug. "Let's take it one day at a time. What movie are we watching tonight?"
"Just got the remastered Indiana Jones trilogy with all the bonus shit."
She grinned, her dark eyes lighting up with excitement. "Can we get popcorn and MMs?"
"Already got 'em," he replied, smiling back at her. "Marathon?"
"Oh hell yes," she agreed on an eager nod. "Let's do this shit!"
They finished their food and headed home. Juice rode a little faster this time, eager to get to his place and watch the movies. He started setting up the first one while Angela popped the popcorn. He smiled as he heard her humming to herself something that sounded suspiciously like the Indiana Jones theme song.
"Popcorn is served!" she decreed, walking in with an enormous bowl of popcorn with the hint of colorful MMs peeking out here and there. Two beers were clutched precariously in her other hand. He grabbed the beers from her, setting them on the small coaster he had on top of his coffee table. She raised her eyebrow at him. "Coasters, huh? Very manly."
"Shut up. Rings on the table drive me fuckin' bonkers," he muttered, sliding off his cut and gingerly hanging it up on a hook by the door.
She snickered at him, shaking her head. "Goof," she said, sitting down on the couch with a sigh. He sat down next to her, grabbing a handful of popcorn and shoving it into his mouth as he pressed play. She scooted a little closer to him than normal, folding her legs up onto the couch. She turned to smile at him. "I missed this. Missed you."
His heart did a little flip in his chest. "Missed you too, Angel."
Juice realized he'd fallen asleep midway through Temple of Doom, when some loud explosion woke him up. There was a strange tingling feeling in his arm, and he looked down to find Angela sound asleep with her head partly on his shoulder, partly on his chest and her hand on his chest just underneath. His heart skipped a beat as she nuzzled her cheek against him in her sleep. He knew he should wake her up, tell her to go to bed, but he loved having her that close. Slowly, he moved his arm around her more, his hand settling on her hip, allowing her to move in a little closer. For the first time in months, his mind was completely quiet; he was at peace. He could get used to this.
Angela woke up with a start as her dream quickly turned into a nightmare. For some reason, in her dream, she was the one who got hit by the car instead of Raj. Only she had seen it coming and tried to run. She woke up just as the car slammed into her legs. Her heart raced as she took in her surroundings. Juice was snoring away beside her, his arm wrapped around her back, hand settled underneath her shirt on her hip. Swallowing hard, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. For some reason the feel of Juice's hand on her skin grounded her, made her feel safe. It was just a dream. A horrible dream. She was safe now.
She turned to look at Juice. He was still out cold, his head tilted back over the back of the couch as he snored away. She knew she should get up and leave, but a part of her wanted to stay wrapped in his arms just a little longer. Another stronger part felt guilty as hell about the way she craved Juice's touch, the way she couldn't stop thinking about him. If she hadn't had those feelings for Juice, she and Raj wouldn't have fought. She wouldn't have stormed out. Raj wouldn't have followed her, and he wouldn't have been hit by a car. He'd be alive.
She raked a hand through her hair, slowly getting to her feet. She moved the bowl of popcorn out of this lap and onto the coffee table then grabbed a nearby blanket and covered him with it. "Sweet dreams, goof," she murmured before heading back to her new room. Alone.
Setting a few things up here...
Next chapter should be a fun one! Angela going to her first SAMCRO party!
Any ideas or suggestions of things you'd like to see are welcome! It's her first time meeting the club back when it is intact and happy so I'm having a bit of fun with that. ;)
I think she may catch the eye of one of the younger Sons in particular...
Thanks for reading!
