Chapter 19 on the eve of 2019 (or the first day of 2019 in some places already). That seems fitting. I hope you all have a wonderful New Year. I suppose this is also an ode to the Rock the Family AU of this month.

It was 6:20pm and Sybil was lying across the bed. She was lying on her back, holding a pregnancy test in her hands over her stomach. It was positive. She wasn't sure what to think. She wasn't unhappy. But she was shocked. She and Tom had been married for two years and had been trying for a baby for almost as long, but had so far been unsuccessful. Until today.

Sybil was still lying on the bed, thinking about her future when Tom came in.

"Hey, love," he said.

Sybil sat up like a shot and turned to see him. "Hi," she said. "I didn't hear you come in. How was work?"

"Work was fine. I did call up the stairs when I came in," Tom said. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Sybil said, shoving the pregnancy test under her leg as surreptitiously as she could, as she spoke to her husband.

"Sybil, love," Tom urged. "Talk to me. Something's up."

Sybil coughed. She took the test in her hand, careful not to let Tom see what it was, and stood from the bed. She walked around to his side of the bed and stood in front of him. She handed him the test and let him put two and two together.

"Is this a pregna-" he started, but he stopped himself when he read the word 'pregnant' on the small screen. After a moment staring at the test, he dragged his eyes away to look at Sybil. "This is yours?"

Sybil nodded. "I took it today. About fifteen minutes ago." Sybil couldn't help the smile that spread across her face.

Her smile was infectious, and Tom soon caught on.

"I can't quite believe it," Sybil said, holding her face in her hands. "We've wanted this for so long."

Tom stepped closer to Sybil and kissed her fully on the lips, taking her waist in his hands, as her hands moved to his shoulders and back.

They had waited for months for Sybil to fall pregnant, and it wasn't through lack of trying. And finally the time had come. They were going to have their own little Branson running around the house in a few years' time. Sybil had taken many pregnancy tests since they had decided to try for a baby, and they had all been negative. After a while, they had learnt not to have hope. Each test that Sybil took, they expected a negative result. So to see a positive one was unexpected and shocking and glorious. They were starting a family. Just as they had always wanted to.
