The Red Bear Strikes
Authors Note: This is a crossover between RWBY and the C&C Generals mod, Rise of The Reds, as well as some minor crossover with EndWar. Of course, its mostly ROTR getting the crossover and just bits of EndWar, there and there. I won't lock myself to just using units from said games, as I'm also going to use plenty of IRL weapons and vehicles for this fic. Now, enjoy reading everyone.

Ch.1
During the War on Terror against GLA, Russia sat in the sidelines, licking its wounds from the downfall of the Soviet Union. The country was quite the mess, especially in the economic sense. Sure, Russia was holding, but with many pieces in shambles, many high-ranking figures were able to get away with things like selling weapons to the GLA and other groups, fueling the war that the bear can't even fight on.
Even with the end of the War, Russia's government remains in corrupt. Of course, one can only do so much before the people around would start taking action. After some incidents of internal politics that almost lead to a Civil War, enter Suvorov, the new President of Russia. Within his term, he managed to slowly return the motherland to its former glory. He took advantage of the damages from the War on Terror and supplied the world with Russia's oil, making them the number one oil distributor of the world, giving Russia a huge economic boost.
The huge change causes Russia's infrastructure to improve, from education, industry, trade, and of course, military power.
With the world paying Russia for oil, more money can be used to bring back their glory of Russia's muscle. Their Cold War toys were upgraded and modernized, new weapon systems were developed, and slowly but surely, Russia came back to being a super power.
Of course, the legacy of President Suvorov was threatened, when the world was getting back to its feet. America with its Fusion Reactors, Europe with its Solar Arrays, and China with their nuclear energy, meant they're less reliant on Russia's oil, meaning the large economy of the motherland would slowly fall, and eventually damaging the country in the long run.
Suvorov didn't want all his hard work, his legacy, his country to fall. He began planning things, but with how geopolitics is shifting again, and the presence of GLA running around, it was difficult to save his country. At this point, he was considering to start a false-flag operation against ECA to start a war, but he didn't, as there was a new situation that could change everything for him and his nation.

"Gentlemen. As you can remember, Chernobyl has been one of the biggest nuclear disaster known to man. Pripyat has been abandoned due to the radiation. But after years when the radiation slowly dissipated, we sent an exploration team in. The simple scouting mission ended with the team finding something… different." The holographic screen shows an image of a portal in the streets of Pripyat.
"It was a portal from what the team observed. As they made a short test of throwing a bolt onto the thing and saw it disappear on the other side. After a week, scientists started observing and testing it out, from lab rats to drones. And they made a shocking discovery that it really is a portal to another world." The hologram shows a short clip of a drone flying through the portal and eventually showing a lush forest in the evening. What was so odd, was the large dark flying avian creatures in the distance, as well as the shattered moon shining in the night.
"Yes, I know people. It is odd as you can see it. Long story short, the scientists crossed the portal and found the place to be very similar to earth in many ways. And before any of you ask, it is not earth, just from the sheer fact that the moon is shattered proves that. Of course, this discovery was made two months ago. I'm telling you this because it relates to your upcoming mission." The intel officer looks at each soldiers in the room, making sure they're listening.
"The scientists wants to study this new world, but of course, there are some… not so fun threats to deal with." The screen then shows an image of a black creature that looks like a deformed big wolf. "These things."
"These creatures attacked the scientists camp and forced them to flee back to the portal. They came back with guards armed with assault rifles. It works, although, these dark devilish creatures are a little tough… and supernatural…" The screen shows how the creature dissipates as it was killed.
"The scientists weren't able to get samples due to that, leaving them clueless on what those things really are. It didn't end there. More creatures were eventually encountered, and in all shapes and sizes. They were all tough, that some can shrug bullets quite easily, so the expedition was once again forced to retreat." The screen shows an assortment of creatures, from a giant snake, scorpion, an odd but terrifying bear, as well as some huge avian creature, with the expedition running back to the portal.
"That's were you lot comes in. The government is concerned of those creatures choosing to go out the portal and causing mass panic, and the scientists wants to explore the place and require military assistance to guard them. Not just infantry mind you. But a battalion guarding them, as some of those creatures would really require heavier firepower. As your file have mentioned, you will go to Ukraine, Pripyat. And set up an FOB on the other side of the portal to guard the scientists, as well as assist them. Now, my little explanation done, I'm sure you lot have tons of questions, so ask away." The intel officer exclaims, watching many troops raise their hands.
"Sir. Would it be suspicious if a battalion of Spetsnaz forces would just drive into Pripyat? I'm sure the world will notice and start asking questions." One of the soldiers asked.
"A valid question, but you do not have to worry. We will act as guards for the Chernobyl itself. While the surrounding area has decreased its radiation pockets, the reactor itself is still harmful, and there's still nuclear material inside. Your battalion will act as guards to protect said materials from terrorists like the GLA. Of course, that's just on paper, your real task is beyond this world."
"So, who's guarding the power plant?" One soldier chimes in.
"A different unit. We sent several battalions, and we plan to set up an FOB on Pripyat soon. The world won't look deep into it, as its just as taking precaution against GLA." The officer said. "Anything else?"
"Sir, regarding the mission, what should we expect from the hostile creatures?" Another soldier asks.
"They're rather territorial, and most of the time, attacks you on sight. While tactics against the creatures will be in a different briefing, what you should expect that they're rather tough. Smaller one can sometimes take several bullets, even more if you hit their… bone plating. So it is recommended that you move as a group with different weapons for different creatures, as for specifics, well, like I said, wait for the next briefing." He motions for other questions.
"Sir." A younger soldier motioned. "What do we do if the portal closes?"
Other soldiers showed their concerns regarding such questions, giving some worried glances.
"If the portal closes… well, the scientists have been observing the portal as well. And as far as I'm concerned, there's no changes on it yet. Once there is even some changes, all troops are ordered to back off to prevent such possibilities… but if you do get trapped… hold your ground soldiers, we won't leave you behind." The officer assures, nodding to the troops. "Plus, even the scientists would prefer to keep it open for their own uses, so extra priority on keep the portal open. Anymore questions?"
More questions were made, causing the officer to sigh. It was a long discussion, on things they don't understand, and it was understandable as it was the unknown, and the unknown gives birth to fear and uncertainty, as between fighting a huge war, or stepping to a new world, the former was easy, as one can easily expect things, the latter? Not so much.
Of course, these are brave soldiers, willing to answer to their motherland's call. Fear is put aside for their duty.
XXXXX
After a week of preparation and planning, a battalion from the Spetsnaz Guard Brigade or SGB, was chosen to be the expeditionary force. While it would've been cheaper to send a conscripted force, the Government wants to keep the portal and the new world classified, so they sent an elite and trustworthy unit for the mission.
Due to the mission requiring some flexibility as well as reliance of vehicles, the 19th Mechanized Battalion was chosen for the task, due to each and every soldiers being versatile and trained to operate any vehicles. Of course, due to the nature of the location, the Battalion were re-equipped with some older vehicles to save on costs and logistics.
Because instead of using the state of the art T-100 Ogre tank, the unit was provided with old T-64 Rhino tanks due to it being easier to maintain as well being more than enough to fight off the dark leviathans that crawls in the new world. That, and newer vehicles are better off used to fight against modern threats unlike the beasts of this world.
Even then, the majority of combat vehicles, were the old yet proven Mauler BMP's. Light and amphibious, this was the perfect IFV for the forested areas of the new world, while having excellent firepower against the hostile creatures, its main purpose is to transport troops and scientists throughout the area safely, unlike trucks and jeeps.
Of course, this expeditionary unit had plenty of air assets. From simple Pchela-1T drones, to old fixed-wing aircraft like Su-25 Frogfoots. Although, the majority of the air units are helicopters, for both defensive and transport roles, with the latter role being given to the Ka-50's successor the Ka-68 Hellion, its speed and firepower makes it a great unit for guarding the base's general surrounding area.
For aerial transport, the Mi-80 was given such task. While large and cumbersome, it can carry high number of troops as well as vehicles without much issue, while still having some small defense via nose mounted gatling gun. Of course, for such size isn't always required for transporting smaller groups, hence a fleet of Mi-24 Hinds are around, not just for transport, but an attacker as well, it is a middle ground for both rotor based choppers.
Infantry and base defenses are a different story. Due to Russia's economic boom, it managed to modernize as well as replace most of the equipment. Meaning, most of the infantry equipment are new, or at least, not old, and with this being a battalion of Spetsnaz Guard Brigades, meant its infantry has tons of access to some top-line weapons and gear.
Same goes for the newly constructed base. Its walls were lined with watchtowers armed with an HMG, and towers for Kashtan turrets. With the latter being special as its twin 30mm gatling guns tears up most hostile creatures, and its Anti-Air missiles can knock out most aerial creatures. For harder targets, RPG turrets and tank bunkers were made to defend the wall and the base behind it from tougher leviathans. And in the situation of a breach, all of the buildings like the Command Center, Motor Pool, Barracks, Research Centers, etc. are built like bunkers to withstand such breach.
All in all, the expeditionary base was well built to defend itself, house all the personnel and equipment, and do its mission of exploring the new world.
XXXXX
After a week of constructing the base, the staff and commander decided to expand the range of surveillance for their drones and air assets to know their surrounding location some more, as well as looking places of interests for studying. The scientists wanted to compare the materials found in in this world to Earth, and so far, most of it were the same.
But during scouting, one of their Pchela-1T drones have spotted something odd… a railroad. This wouldn't look interesting if it were on earth, but they weren't in earth, they were in a new world untouched by humankind, filled with dark, deadly creatures. And those rail tracks implies intelligent life, other humans.
General Gregor, the commander of the expeditionary force, was called to see the big news, causing him to watch the feed directly.
"Sir, these rail tracks are 30km away from our base. While we'd have preferred to follow it and see where it goes, the drone can't fly that far." The drone operator says out, letting the small drone fly circles above the tracks.
"Hm… this is interesting. Interesting indeed." Gregor nods as he looked at the screen. While he was no scientist, he can see the implications of other intelligent life in this planet, maybe human, maybe not, yet the thought was interesting.
Of course, unlike the scientists who found a goldmine in exploration, the general finds this concerning. Intelligent life, humans, means there's territory, and his country literally built a military base on what probably in the forest of some country… this would give the wrong implications if they were found out, accuse them as invaders and start a war. While Mother Russia is back to being a superpower and has one of the strongest military forces in the world, Gregor is concerned of the unknown.
"Get the drone back and send a squad to put some surveillance equipment near the tracks." The General orders out, with the drone operator immediately turning the drone back home. "We need to know more about this world. And with those tracks, it implies that any intelligent life in this world has industrialized. We need to know how technologically advanced they are."
"What do you mean General?" A scientist asks out, worried about his orders. "Your tone implies that they would attack us. I'd rather not turn this scientific mission into a military one. This expeditionary force is already militarized, and I do not wish to make it more armed that necessary!"
"Your concerns have been heard Dr. Natalya. But for all I'm concerned, we might've unknowingly invaded a country, a country we do not know of its capabilities of. While I'd negotiate if we contacted them, I'd rather not be unprepared if they just attack us at first sight. For all we know, they can have a similar fanaticism of the GLA." General Gregor reasoned. Despite having a military career, he is a pacifist, mostly avoid causing conflicts, and preferring to find alternative ways around violence.
Of course, he didn't reach the rank of General if he wasn't capable of pulling the trigger. His pacifism and avoidance of unnecessary battles is the reason why he is known to end battles rather quickly, using swift tactics with his mechanized forces to stop the violence faster. One of the reasons he was chosen to command the expeditionary force.
"J-just ensure we don't shoot first if we encounter them. We have enough wars already." The scientist Natalya exclaims, she already had enough of wars back in earth, and she'd rather not have one in this world where she can peacefully study things.
"Don't worry about it doctor. For now, we need to know if the people of this world can be trusted. For that, we need to know them. If they are reasonable, we will eventually introduce ourselves, kindly. If not… avoid them as much as possible and attack if necessary." Gregor sighs at the last part. "Prepare a report for this. I need to set up a meeting."
XXXXX
Hours after the discovery, a pair of Hinds flew through at high-altitude, flying fast to avoid unnecessary encounter with the avian creatures. Their current destination was the rail tracks, with the objective of dropping their squads to set up some surveillance equipment, from high-definition cameras to motion sensors, the equipment will be left there for a long while to see if it can catch sightings of a train, and see if the eggheads check or guess the technological level this world has.
"We're 5 minutes to the landing zone. Get ready men." The pilot of the Hind utters out through the radio, causing the troops to get ready.
While their small-arms fire can kill those dark creatures, what they worry was the larger 'leviathans' that runs around. Sure, grenade and rocket launchers are enough, but its the numbers they are worried off. While not a single Spetsnaz have died to these creatures, the early expedition months ago caused some casualties, and the cause was that the creatures attacks in numbers. And such waves are a somewhat frequent occurrence in the base.
A well fortified force can stop it just fine, but a squad of soldiers against those waves? Not a chance. There was a reason to never go alone and always remain in contact to ensure there's help nearby. Either from other squads, or from the assistance of vehicles. Its always good to be prepared.
Aleksey felt the chopper vibrate as the gatling guns of the Hind fired a burst, before he saw an avian creature dead, falling to the ground from the window. The young soldier watched the other Hind nearby, firing a small salvo of rockets on the ground, and judging from the shriek, they successfully blew up a group of those deformed animals.
"LZ is clear. Get ready to hop out." The pilot exclaims, opening the door as their aircraft descends to the forest in a clearing. Once they're a meter off the ground, the first squad along with Aleksey jumps out with the surveillance equipment, before looking at the tree line with rifles at the ready, watching out for same hostile creatures.
The other Hind landed behind them, unloading the other squad and other components of their equipment and did the same of looking at the tree lines for possible hostiles.
"Area clear!" Their squad leader exclaims. "All right gentlemen, we are 400 meters away from the rail tracks. Keep caution as you move through the forests. Now come on, lets go!"
Aleksey and the two squads lifted up their things as they move through the forest, all rifles trained in different directions. The two Hinds remain in the air, circling around the squad from a distance to shoot Leviathans, and keep watch to provide some air support.
It was the usual operation.
While the men have only spent a week in this world, each day was always doing something. From the trivial tasks like cleaning and equipment maintenance, to tasks like manning the defenses, scouting, and escorting scientists. The SGB troops quickly gotten used to the drills to handle possible threats the world has to offer.
"Hostile down." Aleksey reports, after a burst of suppressed gunshots was heard.
The squad glanced at the same dark, deformed wolf, bullet holes on its torso and head, slowly dissipating. Aleksey scoffed at the creature, training his rifle, the VSSM Vintorez, to a different direction to watch out for more hostiles, as that wolf probably has a pack nearby. While smaller creatures are easy to deal with, they are a little tougher than the organic animals they have witnessed.
Aleksey noticed that while these creatures were heavily based real animals, they are a little more resilient, thanks to their hardened bones peeking out of their hides, at the same time, also being more aggressive. When he hunted back home, wolves would often leave him alone, same goes for most wild animals. These dark devilish creatures? They attack on sight.
Quite unnatural, as he heard from a friend in a different squad, who was sent to escort some scientists to observe said creatures. From what he heard, they acted like the animals they were based on, but for some reason, they don't seem to feel hungry despite not eating anything for days. Of course, one can assume that it takes a long time for said beasts to feel hungry, that and it takes more time to observe such creatures to make a proper conclusion.
"Oh blyat! Almost got me…" Nearby suppressed gunshots rang out from his fellow squad members. Their AK-12's killing a small pack of the same devilish wolves. No casualties, aside from that one soldier almost getting jumped on by said wolves.
"Maybe we should switch to 7.62… our current bullets doesn't seem to kill them fast enough." One says out as he shook his head. Aleksey has heard similar complaints as well, the current assault rifle caliber, 5.45x39mm, while light, accurate, and has higher velocity, it has some struggles on stopping the beasts, meaning they have to fire more shots to effectively put them down. Command also considered to switch to AK-15's, its 7.62x39mm rounds might do better. Although, some are also considering the extreme and arm every troops with ShAK-12's.
Aleksey wasn't sure about the latter.
Though, compared to other soldiers, Aleksey is a little more confident with his weapon the VSSM Vintorez. Twenty-Round mags full of 9x39mm rounds. Sub-sonic, but heavy and has a good armor penetration. Can kill those beasts reliably in few shots, maybe even one if he shoots accurately. Bonus points that being sub-sonic means no audible sonic boom, as well as the integral suppressor makes his rifle very quiet.
A good choice against the current hostiles.
As minutes passed by of slowly walking through the forests, occasionally gunning down some beasts, the squads radios crackled. It came from the pilots. "Attention, we spotted a train driving down the tracks a few kilometers away. Delay the set-up for the surveillance equipment and stay hidden. We're backing off for a bit to not get spotted by the train."
The Hinds in the distance flew farther to nothing more but a spec in the distance after the warning. The two squads were already in tree lines facing the tracks. Aleksey looked through his scope and looked at the distance, and seeing a train moving through the tracks at a decent speed. He can't get better details due to distance, but at that point, the seniors ordered them to get back in the tree lines and hide. The last thing they want is getting unwanted attention of the people of this world.
The two squads hid behind the trees and greeneries, waiting for the train to pass-by. The general made a strict order to not get spotted by any intelligent life. The higher-ups wanted to ensure that they remain as a secret for now to prevent a possible conflict with unknown inhabitants of this world. Plus, even if they can win against the people of this world, chances of negotiations, as well as hatred can form and can cause terrible consequences for the long-term.
Each and every troops knows the stakes.
"Lieutenant? Should I turn on the camera?" Aleksey asks out, as he was the one carrying one of the surveillance camera.
"Da. Go on ahead Corporal." The squad leader nodded, causing Aleksey to unzip the bag and hurriedly activates the camera. Some squad members also pulls out the other surveillance equipment like a recorder. An idea from the egg-heads to know what the train sounds like and deduce what tech level it was.
Seconds went by, before the ground rumbles slightly. The train was getting closer at a fair speed, Aleksey and other squad members got their surveillance equipment up, ready to see and hear the passing train from the shadows of the trees, while others look at other directions to watch out for hostile creatures, hoping that none would come and expose their location.
In a few seconds, the train passed by, and within that seconds, the squad could tell it was a cargo train from all the carriage it was pulling. The train itself, while quite fast to get detailed descriptions, resembled like a futuristic steam engine, though, from what they heard, it barely sounded like a steam train, as it didn't belch out steam, nor sounded like one.
But one of them also noticed something…
"Guys… did you see that blur?" Aleksey asks, his squad mates looking at him with different expressions, others noticed, the others didn't. He then sets the HD surveillance grabs his PDA, replaying and pausing the part he saw, showing it to the others.
A girl wearing a big bow in grey black clothing, and a red haired man in a dark long coat. Both were obviously running on the train, as well as jumping. What was so odd was that they were armed as well. One had a pistol connected to something, while the other had a sword.
Aleksey then resumes the recording and the two figures moved almost in a blur as they ran and jump on the roof tops of the carriages, before they're no longer in the camera's focus as the train pulls away.
"What the hell…?" One of them exclaims wondering what they saw. "You sure it wasn't sped up?"
"Nyet." Aleksey shows that the recording wasn't sped up whatsoever.
"Right… we can wonder what that thing is later on. For now, get the surveillance equipment up, move!" The Lieutenant then looks back to Aleksey. "You, save that recording. The scientists and intel groups may want to know more about it."
"Da, kommandir." Aleksey nodded, saving the recording before acting as a look-out as the squads began to set up the equipment in the tree lines, all were pointing to the rails from different angles.
The rest of the mission mostly became uneventful as the squads finished their objectives, going back to the LZ as they occasionally shot down some hostile creatures that got close. As they got back to base, they chattered about what they saw, from the train itself, to the two figures. Many questions were about 'what they are?' or 'how?' when regarding the two armed, fancy dressed figures.
Some are also excited of the prospect of other humans around, meaning it won't be too hard to communicate with them when the time comes. Even then, others remain cautious, as it is in human nature to cause violence, and they are rather concerned of what they saw. For something so fast, they could be very effective in combat. Maybe such things are rare on this world, maybe not, even then, the troops are a little worried, but steeled themselves.
The Spetsnaz can fight anything that stands in their way after all.

"Right, a train that looks like a steam engine that doesn't sound like its steam powered, and then some super-speedy humans moving on top of it..." General Gregor summarized, as he and other scientists looks at the footages from hours ago.
"Hm... I am not sure what to conclude about this, General. First, it looks like it came from some… cartoons or anime. I mean, look at how fast they are going, that and the fashionable clothes you'd expect from some moody teenagers. I do not know what to say about this really. Aside from concluding that we might have some super humans in this world, even then we don't have sufficient proof yet." The head scientist says, looking at the footage with some confusion as well as some curiosity.
Meanwhile, the Gregor was already thinking of many things related to the footage. For one, his mind or imagination, is reminding him of those fantasy novels he reads during his teenage years. Like, an armed force being sent, or finding themselves in a fantasy world. Though, this world he was in was a little different. For one, the train, and the clothing implied that this world was in the modern times like earth, and two, while their implication that this world is modern, maybe magic exists?
The General wasn't sure, as his inner child was the one suggesting it, but with those two running that fast? Its either magic, or some scientifically complicated bullshit.
He wishes for the former.
"We really need to explore some more to get better idea of this world. Those beasts outside is really slowing us down." The scientists agreed. The prospect of exploring a new world was something they did not expect to do in their careers, but with it possible, they'll happily do their jobs. Of course, while they hate being slowed down by military bureaucracy, they all know it's necessary to prevent them from being attacked by those damned hostile creatures.
The scientists and researches often get annoyed when their field research gets interrupted, or forced to abandon it when the guarding soldiers encounter huge numbers of those creatures, or when they came close to a leviathan type monster. It's also annoying that said beasts dissipates to nothing. They'd have a field day researching those creatures!
"Preparations for intel gathering is already being made, as well as long range recon aircraft is being sent here soon. By next week, we might get some recon planes to look for places of interests like settlements that we can eventually prod for intel. For now, we do our operations as usual, but remain in alert just-in-case." General Gregor said to the people around him. Intel groups, scientists, as well as officers already knew that the General already made a meeting with the higher-ups back in earth for more funding and extra assets.
They'll be even busier in the coming days.

Nearby the airfield, Aleksey sat down with a blank sketch pad and pencil. His shift just ended half-an-hour ago, and decided to use his free time on his little hobby. Currently, he was sketching an Su-25 currently parked in one of the many hangars, drawing its general shape and adding the little details. The Frogfoot, was a well-proven ground attack aircraft. But with how the modern battlefield was changing, it is barely used aside from fighting in low-scale conflicts.
Though, in this world, it's simple design and ease of maintenance, as well as ruggedness and reliability meant it works well excellently well in this world. It was fast enough to outrun avian creatures, as well as enough payload to level any tough leviathans. It was the perfect CAS aircraft for this world from its fair mobility and amount of armaments it can carry.
Though, through the occasional sounds of gunfire from the base defenses, Aleksey can hear a plane taxiing through the runway. He gave a curious glance, and saw the flying machine moving. It was a MiG-31, and just like its predecessor, the MiG-25, still holds the reputation as one of the fastest combat aircrafts ever developed.
It has been a week since the mission of planting some surveillance systems near the tracks and seeing the first train. A few days later, the surveillance has spotted another train, a passenger train judging from the carriages and the many people inside it, proving that there more people in this world. This caused the research of this world to be even more funded as well as getting more equipment like the aforementioned MiG-31 'Foxhound' for one big recon sweep.
Currently, there's the first two are quickly being sent for that said long range mission, as Aleksey watched a pair of Foxhounds preparing to take-off. Not long after, the first aircraft howls its huge engines, speeding up the runway before taking-off, followed by another one. Both of the aircrafts are equipped with external fuel tanks to extend their range for the long mission.
Aleksey waves at the aircraft for a bit, silently giving them wishes of good luck and safe travel. Because if they manage to stumble upon a civilization and got shot down, they are to kill themselves if they cannot be rescued.
He hopes that it won't end up that way. Earth is already full of conflict and tragedy, and he'd rather not have those in this strange somewhat peaceful world.

"Well Irina, we're not the first fliers of this world, but we're probably the first ones who managed to fly this high and fast." The pilot flying besides the lead aircraft says out.
"Heh, we probably are. Look at those birds trying to catch us. Can't even keep up nor fly high enough to catch us Fyodor." Irina, the leading pilot exclaims as the High-Definition recon camera looks at the hostile avian creatures trying to catch them and not even getting close.
"Father will be proud of us of how far we've came. I mean, look at us, flying one of the state of the art planes, in a different world no less." Irina chuckles proudly at what her younger brother said, looking up to the clear skies above.
"I think father will be having a hard time seeing us here. We're practically in an alien world. Though, thinking about it, if we somehow die here, do we go in the heaven of this world, or back in ours?" The older sister asked, looking at the sky with a curious look.
"That's an answer I can't answer sis. That, and I won't allow ourselves to die in this world either way." Fyodor shook his head. He and his sister worked hard to reach their dreams, and they aren't going to make their hard work and their fathers sacrifice go to waste.
But before one can talk, Irina noticed something.
"Fyodor. Look, another settlement." Irina exclaims, looking at the screen as the recon camera shows farmlands as well as some structures nearby.
"That's the 12th settlement we scouted out. This one is very large, guess that is to be expected for a farming community." Fyodor remarks, making sure the camera of his plane can get a good look at the ground.
"Hm… looking at it, the settlements are getting larger as we fly farther from base." Suddenly, the radios of their aircraft crackled, picking up some signals.
"Unidentified aircraft, you are approaching Vale airspace please slow down… what the fuck?" The two Russian pilots noticed the pause of the new radio signal, before listening to the background voices that happens to be in english tongue. "Guys, is the radar working or what? The radar picked up two unidentified objects… flying at alarming speeds…"
"How fast exactly?" One voice asked in the background.
"Uh… Mach 2.8?" The radio operator answered, still unaware that he left the radio turned on.
"What…? Kid, you better be reading that right, no aircraft can fly that fast." Both Fyodor and Irina just remained silent, contemplating on what to do next as they listen to voices on the other side of the radio. But before they can do something else, they flew out of some clouds, and the camera of their aircrafts managed to see an entire walled off city below them.
"Oh what the hell…" Irina manages to say to his brother, looking at the ground with some awe. It was a full blown city, complete with highways, streets, as well as the many buildings around it. A far cry from the settlements they saw earlier, as they looked small and poor compared to this place.
"Fyodor, lets map this place before we leave. Go." Irina replied to Fyodor in a secure channel. The open radio was to pick up open signals, like the air control they are currently hearing.
"Da." Fyodor nodded from his cockpit as the siblings began moving their aircraft around the city to map the place.
"Sir, look! The unidentified objects are changing speed and direction!" The pilots listened to the open radio on the air control.
"Contact them again!" The older voice ordered.
"This is Valean air tower, you are trespassing Vale airspace! Slow down and state your business!" The two Russia pilots cringed at that, they have trespassed foreign airspace and they might face terrible consequences in this unknown land.
"Still no reply… send some aircrafts in the air to pursue, go!" The older voiced commanded, causing the MiG-31 pilots to cringe some more. This is already bad as they now have sent aircrafts to pursue them.
Aircrafts they do not have any knowledge of.
"Fyodor, let's bale and fly west. We need to lose them before returning to base." Irina voiced out, already taking not of her radar picking up two aircrafts flying towards them.
"Da, come on." Fyodor nodded, following his sister's lead as they both turn away and started increasing the throttle, away from the city, and their new pursuers, struggling to catch them. Not long, they reach the speeds of Mach 3, leaving their pursuers in the distance, as well as the huge walled city behind them with no words, and no weapons fired.
Hopefully, they didn't make an enemy of this place.

"The investigation continues regarding the Unidentified Flying Objects or UFO's spotted this morning in Vale airspace. The Vale Air Control tried to contact these objects but received no reply. When they sent interceptors to pursue said UFO's, they flew away in an alarming speed of Mach 3." The newscaster voiced out, as the screen shows a glimpse of said aircraft from the footages of the long range cameras of the Bullhead interceptors, showing the odd aircraft in the distance, as it speeds away.
"These machines that violated Vale Airspace are suspected to be an Atlesian prototype aircrafts, but Atlas themselves denied such claims, as they have neither capability nor the audacity to fly it over Vale. For now, Atlas is simply offering their assistance regarding the UFO, but even then there's still no clue. This is Lisa Lavender of Vale News Network, wishing everyone a happy and safe day."
Ozpin sips his coffee as he watches the afternoon news switching to a different topic. That was interesting news in his opinion, all while somewhat concerning. He knows Atlas isn't going to risk its Alliance with Vale by testing such a daring toy on its airspace. That, and from what James has told him earlier, Atlas does not have the capabilities of making such machine. Ozpin can trust his words on that, but that still leaves the question, where did those aircraft came from?
In all his long, long life, he has encountered how humanity has advanced technologically, and he was there when humanity invented its first aircraft, taking great pride of achieving something of what's once used to be impossible. But those pair of machines he saw in the news earlier? He wasn't sure. Either its some black project by other kingdoms, or something else he doesn't know.
For the former, that can be easily dealt with in the future.
For the latter though… that is something he should be very concerned of.
To fight his war against the Grimm and Salem, he must keep tabs of many factors to ensure his plans can work successfully. But those things he doesn't know of? It can potentially throw a wrench to his plans. Maybe it belongs to Salem who managed to hire minions to develop these machines. And with the speeds it can achieve, it can probably deliver a hard hitting payload to the kingdoms walls, breaking it for the Grimm to enter and cause chaos, and those aircrafts can easily outrun anything that goes after them…
That was a very concerning thought.
The headmaster of Beacon downed his coffee, dampening the new headache coming in. He needs to know where those aircrafts came from to ensure it doesn't disrupt his plans and potentially cause chaos in the future.
"Centuries of living and I barely get some free time." Ozpin sighed with all the incoming stressful work.

Well, that's the first chapter, I hope you people enjoy. And yeah this first chapter might be a little rushed, but I wanted to get things started quickly and involve Remnant and some of its characters to get things interesting. For now, I hope you people enjoy this fic, and be sure to leave some reviews so I can improve this story.
And for the curious, Rhino is just a modified T-64 tank that is light enough to be airdropped, Mauler, is just a BMP-3, the Ka-68 Hellion is just a heavily improved Ka-50, this time, carrying two 30mm cannons, Mi-80 came from EndWar, a heavy lift helicopter that can carry multiple tanks and the Mi-24 Hind… the same chopper we all know and love.
Oh and help the soldiers decide between using 5.45x39mm, or 7.62x39mm AKs. They want the most reliable assault rifle round on taking down both Grimm and eventually hostile individuals in the future.
Good decisions saves lives after all.
