Chapter 7: The Spa Night Sleepover
One cold third Saturday of February 2022, I met up with my childhood friends Sarah, James, and Henri at Hartwood Acres Park for games and activities like Guess that Scent!, Glow Ring Toss, a Candy Scavenger Hunt Relay Race, Round Robin, and making slime, along with treats like Mix and Match Snacks, Golden Nuggets, and Rock Star Cupcakes. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. Then, we went back to Pittsburgh's Perfect Parties client Abigail Mifflin's house in Fox Chapel for her spa night sleepover. There was soothing spa music playing in the background, and the room smelled of a pleasing perfume with lighted candles. We began with snacks, which were Chocolate-Covered Strawberries, Finger Sandwiches, and Manicure Marshmallow Treats, along with fruit and veggie platters, and of course, a birthday cake. "Wow, all of this food looks so yummy," Henri stated, licking his lips. "Too bad I can't have any!" "No, you can't, Henri," James pointed out. "But, I must admit that this music is nice, even though it's not Santana's music, which can be quite soothing to us at times!" "Yes, I agree, James," Abigail stated. "Santana is more rock music, though!" Then, we moved on to other activities, like massages and foot baths, as well as facial masks, manicures, and pedicures, along with the movie Never Been Kissed on Disney+. "Abigail, I bet that you are so glad that you are doing manicures, pedicures, and other makeovers in this time and age," Sarah happily stated. "I still remember Sarah and I doing hair and nail makeovers when we were young girls, which was around the time when I first met you, especially with the toe separators and flip-flops seen tonight." "Remember how I was painting my toenails just before my date with John Paul?" Sarah asked me. "Of course I do," I replied. "But, he took you to see an R-rated movie when you were only 13 years old, which was how old Abigail was when I first met her and her sisters up at Edinboro." "You probably chose Never Been Kissed because you just turned 21 years old, Abigail," Sarah stated. "Yes, that is exactly why, Sarah," Abigail replied. "The other movies James and Henri don't really like that much, or they are not available on a streaming service," I pointed out, "but again, this slumber party is not about them. It's not about you guys!" "Yeah, how could I forget watching The Princess Diaries during Hailey Thomson's Traditional Sleepover in Oakmont before the pandemic hit us?" James asked. "We would have all loved to watch The Lion King tonight since it is on your belt," I pointed out. "But, that is not exactly a girly movie, Angel," Abigail told me. "The next time we meet up with the Sobert sisters, we will have to have a movie night featuring The Lion King," I pointed out. "I am surprised that they haven't come down to Pittsburgh at all this month yet!" "Well, they were probably busy with other work, Angel," Abigail told me. "This was especially pointed out on Abigail's birthday party in the South Hills," I continued, "and we don't have too many days left in the month!" After the slumber party was over, it was time for all of us to leave. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
