She Will Be Loved
Chapter 37: Jealousy
By Love Ink
The motorcycle show was growing strong in the summer heat. Angela was sitting in front of one of the large Mayan trailers, just soaking in the sights before her. The boys were all greeting their brothers from different charters, catching up with each other and walking around the show. Meanwhile, she sat with Vanessa and Rosa, catching up with them as they sipped on the margaritas Dia had made.
Rosa was telling a long winded story Angela had already heard before, so she let her mind wander. Glancing around the busy place, she spotted Juice standing with the rest of the Sons, goofing off as usual. She smiled, content to watch him from the peace of the Mayan camp. He looked good in his cut and tight white t-shirt, his mohawk perfectly styled and freshly shaved so his tattoos stood out. God, he was handsome. A part of her wanted to be beside him, joking with him, Hap, and Kozik. Three of her favorite people in the world. But she couldn't. Not with Esai there. He'd flip out on her for being with the Sons when she was supposed to be there with him.
She was pulled from her study when a pair of warm hands landed on her shoulders, massaging gently. Looking up from her seat, she found a pair of ice blue eyes looking down at her. As cold as their color was, the look in them warmed her insides. Esai was just as handsome as Juice with his pretty light eyes contrasted against his tan skin. The only difference was, Esai knew he was handsome while Juice was oblivious to the other girls who were throwing coquettish looks his way. "Gonna head over to the mod's tent. See what they got," Esai said, squeezing her shoulders. He dipped his head to kiss her quickly before flicking her nose. "Don't cause trouble."
Angela wrinkled her nose as she stuck her tongue out at him. "No promises."
He smirked at her, squeezing her shoulder one last time before leaving her alone with the girls again. She watched him go before looking back towards Juice. He'd moved away from his brothers to grab a beer from the drink tent. For some reason, her eyes kept getting drawn back to him. It was weird to be in the same place and not have him close. She'd grown accustomed to having him at her side.
Then a girl stepped towards him. A tall, leggy girl with shiny blonde hair who wrapped her arms around him and planted a kiss on his cheek like he was hers. Angela tensed, her hands closing into fists as she clenched her jaw. It was one of the girls he'd been making out with the night she'd gone to the SAMCRO party with him. The night when she'd first hooked up with Esai. Were they together now? Why hadn't he said anything? "What the fuck?" she muttered quietly.
"What?" Rosa asked from her side. She looked over to where Angela was looking and smirked. "Ang, you serious? You know he ain't yours, right?"
"No, no. I know I just...didn't think he was into blondes, that's all. It's weird," she played it off easily, shrugging a shoulder. Her whole body stayed tensed though as she watched him flirt with the girl. Then, the girl leaned in and kissed him. Angela felt her stomach churn; who the hell was that girl? "That's disgusting. Makin' out like that in front of all these people. They should get a room."
Rosa looked at her liked she'd grown two heads. "Girl, I seen you and E do worse than that in a fuckin' grocery store. Don't be so jealous."
"I'm not jealous! It's just gross. That's all," she said on a shrug. "I don't need to see that."
Vanessa laughed, shaking her head. "Don't even worry. That girl's one of them Croweaters. I doubt he even knows her."
Angela bit her tongue, knowing better to explain that he did indeed know the Croweater. Her stomach was churning as she watched Juice interact with the girl. Watching them was putting all sorts of thoughts in her head as he watched the way his rough hands slid down the girls sides, slipping into her back pockets. She bit her lip, picturing him doing the same to her, his lips sliding against hers as he held her close. She swallowed hard, shivering a bit at the thought of it. "I'm gonna go over there. Say 'hi'."
Rosa scoffed at her. "No way, chica. You stay here. Let him have his fun, girl! Boy follows you around too much, let him get some ass while he can."
Angela waved her off. "I'm just gonna say 'hi'," she insisted, feigning innocence. "He's my best friend."
"Uh-huh. Right," she replied, clucking her tongue at her. "Don't let Esai see you over there. Gonna make him jealous, and that's never good."
"It's just Juice. There's nothin' to be jealous about," she assured her with a roll of her eyes. "I'll be back 'fore E gets back anyways. Just calm down."
Juice was surprised when Hannah approached him, even more so when she'd put her hands on him and kissed him. He didn't know what she was thinking. Sure, they'd made out a couple times when she couldn't find anyone with a full patch to spend the night with, but there were plenty of full patches around, and she seemed focused on him. He had just pulled away from a heavy make out session with her when he spotted Angela walking towards them. He cringed inwardly; why was she always catching him making out with other women? He drank her in, loving the way she looked in her cut off jean shorts, tight olive green beater, and white Adidas. She was beautiful; he'd always thought so. Hannah was pretty too, but who knew why she wanted him this time around. Still, he had to admit, he liked the girl's attention, whatever the reason. He slid his arm around the girl's waist as Angela approached. "Hey Angel," he greeted, nodding to her. "How you doin'?"
Angela's dark eyes slid to Hannah before meeting his, a strange look in them that he couldn't quite put his finger on. "Good. Just hangin' out. Thought I'd come see what you were up to," she replied, sliding her hands into her front pockets. "Who's this?"
"I'm Hannah," Hannah answered with a hint of an amused twinkle in her eye. "His girlfriend."
Juice stared at her, confused. She definitely wasn't his girlfriend. Not even close. Hell, he couldn't recall ever having a single normal conversation with her. He looked over at Angela who grimaced at the word. He raised an eyebrow...was she jealous? "Nice to meet you," Angela replied tersely. "How long have you been...together?"
"Not long," Hannah answered, draping herself over him as if marking her territory. Juice didn't care about that, though. He was still shocked that Angela Ruiz, the girl he'd had feelings for since the moment he'd met her in New York, was jealous of Hannah.
Hannah kept talking, but he wasn't listening; he was too busy looking at Angela in a totally new light. Her dark eyes found his, an almost sad look in them as she fidgeted with her ring. He wanted to kiss her then, tell her how it was her that he wanted.
Then a shadow was cast over her as Esai stepped up behind her, sliding an arm possessively around Angela's waist and kissing her temple. She tensed a bit, breaking their stare to look up at him. "Oh. Hey E."
"Hey chiqui," he greeting, taking advantage and pressing a quick kiss to her lips before looking at him with a smirk. "You got a minute?" he asked, his hand teasing the waist of her shorts.
Juice wished she'd look at him again, but she was staring at her feet now, her cheeks slightly pink as if she'd been caught doing something she wasn't supposed to. Her shoulders tensed for a moment before she answered, "Yeah 'course."
"Good. Got somethin' I wanna show you," he stated, his hand sliding under her shirt.
Juice had never wanted to punch him more especially seeing Angela shift uncomfortably under the other man's touch. "No seas grosero," she chastised in Spanish, elbowing his side. Juice had no idea what she was saying, but it really seemed to annoy Esai. (Don't be rude)
"Whatever," he muttered, squeezing her hip. "You comin' or not?"
Angela sighed softly before nodding. "Yeah, yeah, let's see what you got. Nice to meet you, Hannah. See you later, Juice."
Juice watched her walk away, staring at her back as he tried to straighten everything out in his head. Had Angela really been jealous? Could she actually have feelings for him? People has been telling him she did, but he didn't believe it. Not until that very moment when he saw the jealous look in her eyes did he feel a flicker of hope that he might still have a chance.
Esai was tugging on Angela's wrist, pulling her away from Juice as fast as he could. The way he tugged pulled on her barely healed collar bone, sending a wave of pain up her arm. She hissed, digging her heels into the ground. "E!" she exclaimed, trying to yank her wrist from his grasp. "Esai! Stop! You're hurting me!"
Esai pulled her behind a nearby trailer, pushing her against it. His blue eyes were gleaming with anger as they looked down at her. "What the fuck was that?" he growled, his face just inches from her own.
"What?" she asked, crossing her arms over her chest. She had a sinking feeling in her chest she knew exactly what he was talking about though; she'd let her feelings get away from her. Esai wasn't the brightest bulb in the box, but he knew her too well for her to hide things like this from him.
"What? You think I'm blind?" he demanded. "You were jealous of that girl 'cause she was with the fuckin' prospect! I saw you! You are my girl! Not his!"
Angela shook her head. "Are you fucking kidding me? You think I'm into Juice?" she asked feigning indignation. He was right, of course. This was the same fight she'd had with Raj, and the idea of going through it again with Esai was making her sick to her stomach especially after the way it'd ended with Raj. "E, we're just friends! I told you that! Why don't you fuckin' trust me?"
Esai punched the trailer beside her head. "I don't want you near him!" he shouted before taking a deep breath to try and calm himself. "Enough is enough, Angelita. You are my girl, and you should be with me. I'ma...I'ma have Pops talked to Clay. Get someone else on you or-or you can just move to Oakland with me, okay? No more of this bullshit."
"I like where I live, and I told you when we started, it wasn't going to change! I trust you when you go out on your runs and shit. How come you can't trust me? Have I ever given you reason not to?"
"No but...it drives me crazy that you're so far away!" he insisted, caressing her cheek lovingly. "And with him of all people!"
Angela rolled her eyes at him, tugging on the front of his cut and putting a soft kiss to his lips. "I love you," she reminded him, trying to defuse the situation. "I'm with you. Don't be so insecure. I don't question every little thing you do, do I?"
He shook his head, kissing her again. "Love you too, chiqui, and you're mine. Por vida." (For life)
She nodded slowly. He said that to her all the time and lately, the more he said it, the more uneasy she felt. It felt too possessive, almost suffocatingly so. She wasn't the young high schooler he could boss around anymore, she was older, more independent. She wanted her space and wanted him to respect it. "For life" no longer sounded romantic, it sounded like a prison sentence. "I know," she murmured before kissing him again. She pushed him away gently. "Go back to camp. I'ma find a bathroom."
Esai raised an eyebrow at her. "You want me to go with?"
"Nah. I'm a big girl. Think I can manage it on my own," she said, smoothing over his patches with a smirk.
"All right," he agreed, bobbing his head. He kissed her once more, making a sound of appreciation as he turned away. "Mmm. Love you."
Angela laughed in amusement, shaking her head at him as he walked away. Once he was out of sight, she exhaled the breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding in. Leaning against the trailer, she glanced up at the crystal clear blue sky and wondered what the hell had gotten into her. She was with Esai. She loved Esai. Juice hadn't wanted her; he wasn't even an option. She was over it, so why was she so bothered by seeing him with another girl?
She didn't really need to use the bathroom, just wanted some space, a little room to breathe. Seeing Juice with someone else had bombarded her with emotions she was all too familiar with. Jealousy, lust, anger. Emotions she shouldn't be associating with him. Not one bit.
She found the abandoned grandstands usually used for some kind of races during the fair, but for now, were empty. Climbing to the top, she looked out over the craziness and breathed in deeply, enjoying the warm air as it blew across her face.
The sound of boots on the metal bleachers made her look down to find Juice climbing up to her. He sat down on the one in front of her, leaning back onto the bleacher behind him right next to where she was sitting. His chestnut eyes stared up at her, studying her face for a minute. "You all right?" he asked.
"Yeah, 'course," she lied on a scowl. It was hard to look at him without feeling that wave of jealousy, and the want to kiss him and make him forget all about that stupid sweetbutt. "H-how long have you and Hannah been together?"
"We're not. At all. Dunno why she said that," he said on a laugh. "Feel like she was just messin' with you."
Angela wrinkled her nose at him. "Why?"
"No idea. Croweaters like to stir drama sometimes...that's what Jax says at least. Hannah's nice, but she's slept with all my brothers 'n' blonde's not really my type," he explained on a shrug.
She fought the urge to smile; she'd known Hannah wasn't his type, but it felt good to hear it from him. "She's really pretty though."
His eyes met hers again. "I've met prettier."
For some reason, she got the feeling he was talking about her, and it made a warmth bloom in her chest. She blushed, looking down at her hands and messing with the ring Happy had bought her so long ago. "Oh," she said lamely. She rubbed her palms on the thighs of her jeans. "I better...I better get back to E. He's gonna wonder where I am."
"What's he so worried about?" he asked, slowly getting to his feet.
"No idea," she replied with a smirk. "He was the unfaithful one in the past. Dunno why he always thinks I'm gonna be the one to cheat."
Juice wrinkled his nose, shaking his head as he started down the bleachers. "I don't like him."
"Think the feeling's mutual, bud," she told him. A sense of longing filled her; she missed Raj. Missed being able to hang out with Juice and not feel bad about it. Missed his total trust in her. She caught sight of Lino heading their way and sighed. "Told you. Sent his little minion after me."
Lino nodded towards them, meeting them in the middle. He smiled at Juice, extending his hand for him to shake. "Sup, Juice?" he asked, good naturedly.
"Hey Lino," he replied, shaking his hand. They pulled each other in closer for a man hug, which surprised Angela; they barely said two words to each other when they met in the middle of Oakland and Charming to swap babysitting duty. "Not much goin' on. What's up with you?"
"Nothin'. Just makin' sure this one here had someone followin' her," he replied, nodding towards Angela. "Her man was worried someone had gotten her."
Angela rolled her eyes exaggeratedly knowing that was not why Esai set Lino after her. Esai was just making sure she wasn't with Juice...which she had been. "I'm fine. Just wanted a breather. Too much testosterone over there. If he was so worried, why didn't he come get me himself?"
"He's deep in a card game with Santo Padre's new boys. They're stealin' all his money too," Lino explained on a shrug.
"Fabulous," she muttered sarcastically. Esai was one hell of a sore loser and was sure to be in a shitty mood if he was losing money. "All right. I'll head over there. See if I can help him out."
"Cheating's not fair," Juice said, as they all started walking towards the camp.
Angela didn't miss the way Lino seemed to grimace. She raised an eyebrow but kept quiet; she'd ask him about it later. "You haven't seen Esai lose," Lino murmured, shaking his head.
She laughed, nodding enthusiastically. "He's such a baby sometimes."
Lino shifted uncomfortably as he nodded. "Yeah, really though."
"What is up with you, Lee? You're actin' weird," she accused, eyebrows raised at him.
"Nothin', nothin'. Just want to get back to my girl. Too many weirdos around here," he stated on a shrug.
Juice chuckled, nodding a bit. "Just keep her away from Tig; he's got a weird thing for Latinas."
"She ain't goin' near any Son," Lino stated with a smirk. He elbowed Juice teasingly. "Even you."
"Hey! I'm a nice guy!" Juice exclaimed, feigning offense. "I wouldn't touch her!"
Angela listened to the two go back and forth, intrigued by how comfortable they were with each other. It was almost as if they'd known each other for a lot longer and had actually spoken to each other more than the five minutes they had when they met each other so Lino could follow her to Esai's or so Juice could follow her home. There was something they were keeping from her, and she wondered what it was. What had she missed? She'd ask Lino later...when he was drunk. He was always a little loose lipped after a couple of tequila shots. She would ask Juice, but she had the sinking feeling Esai wasn't going to let her out of his sight again.
Lots of jealousy going on here...more excitement coming next chapter and a guest appearance by one of the
Santo Padre boys!
Let me know what you think!
