Chapter 8: Leave a Whisper

The sun was down, and Subaru and his trio were back at Crusch's manor. They had planned to return home back to Roswaal's mansion tomorrow morning. Otto was to take the four of them home.

The raven haired teen was not sure what to do now. He had tried to face his feelings about Rem after seeing the possible future that he dodged. His thoughts also drifted to Emilia and how she was so nice to him even after everything that had happened since he met her. Another thought popped in his head, well it more accurately grabbed him.

Ram was dragging him by the hand to whatever room was close. It just happened to be her bedroom. She pushed him in and slammed the door shut. "Barusu."

"W-Woah, Ram. What are you doing?" He panicked and tried to move to the door only to be cut off.

"We need to talk." Ram's deadpanned voice was surprisingly calm.

Subaru took a deep breath and stared at her. "Alright. We can talk." He moved over to the bed and sat down. He patted the bed next to him so Ram could also sit. "What happened earlier?"

"I-I don't know. Something just over came me. I always disliked you. Not quite hatred, but not love. But, something's changed I think."

"I knew that much." Subaru set a hand on her shoulder. "Look Ram. I can't deny that you are important to me. You're Rem's sister, so you have to be. However, it's not the way that I feel for Rem or Emilia. You're like a sister to me."

Ram sat in silence for a second. "That's actually a relief. Now that you mention it, I don't think I love you the way that Rem does. I do see you as more of a protector and a brother. You won Rem's heart that night in the forest. You also won my respect and trust."

"Then why did you try to kiss me?"

"B-Because, I didn't know what to think about my feelings. When you helped Rem last night, I was so happy that I would have kissed you. I guess that thought stayed with me." Tears began to leak from her eyes.

Subaru wrapped an arm around her. "That's ok Ram. You're special to me. I don't know if I could live without you. You can take your time and determine how you feel about this. Just know, when you want to talk. I'm right here."

"T-Thank you. I want to be alone right now. Can you take Rem to sleep with you tonight?"

"Sure." Subaru stood and shut the door to her room. As he left, he found Rem standing outside the door in her new night gown. Her face spelled out concern for her sister.

"What happened?"

"Oh, nothing that wasn't settled already." He rubbed his neck hoping she wouldn't press the matter. Unfortunately, she did.

"Are you sure? Big sister looked upset when we got back. Maybe I should…" Subaru was quick to get in her way as she reached for the door.

"A-Actually Rem. Ram said she wanted to be alone tonight. To sort some things out or something like that. She asked if you wanted to sleep with me tonight."

"I would be honored to sleep with you tonight." She curtsied as she took his hand.

The duo made their way to the next room over. It was close to around 10 pm so it was time for bed. When Subaru opened the door, they were greeted with a surprise that neither expected. There, laying in the bed, was the beautiful Emilia. Apparently, from the looks of it, she was waiting on him to come back, but fell asleep before he did.

"Rem, do you mind sharing the bed with Emilia? She looks too peaceful to wake up right now." Subaru hoped that Rem would be willing to accept it.

"Of course. I don't mind it. As long as I get to sleep next to you." Rem smiled and walked to the bed. As Subaru laid down, he noticed Emilia stir a bit. After another couple of minutes or so, she started to wake up. Rem was already out like a light by now.

"Suba…?"

"Hey Emilia. You came to see me and fell asleep, I guess. You're more than welcome to stay the night here. Thing is…" He waited as she lifted her head to see a sleeping Rem holding his right arm. "…you have to share."

Emilia paused for a second, then she moved her hand onto his chest and laid her head on his shoulder. "I'm okay with it. I get to sleep with you so it's nice." She was soon asleep with his arm wrapped around her back.

Subaru took a moment and analyzed the situation. 'Okay. So, not only do I have one of the girls I love most in this world in my bed cuddled up with me, I have them both. This is Heaven.' His thoughts were interrupted by a certain cat that decided to appear even though it was dead of night. "Hey Puck. How's it going?"

"I see you found her." Puck smiled slightly.

"Yea. Ram asked me to keep Rem in here tonight, and we came in and found Emilia. I wasn't gonna make her leave, so I just laid down. She woke up enough to slide up here." Subaru stroked Emilia hair making her smile in her sleep.

"Yeah I knew making her fall asleep was a good idea." Puck chuckled as he floated down. "I knew she wouldn't do it on her own, so I figured a push would be nice."

"Thank you, Puck. I owe you one."

"No, just make her happy Subaru. Maybe one day, you can be my son-in law." The gray cat spirit soon faded back into his crystal.

"Well, maybe one day I will marry you, Emilia."

The next morning, Subaru woke up to a light movement on his chest. Apparently, much like Ram, Emilia moved in her sleep, a lot. The half elf had made her way completely onto his chest and had managed to push Rem off the bed. The blue oni was still asleep on the floor. It amazed him that, in her sleep, Emilia was bolder than when she was awake. He admired her sleeping face for the longest time before she squeezed him a bit tighter.

"Wow, you can be possessive when you want to be." Subaru chuckled. In doing so, he inadvertently woke Emilia up.

"Hmmm." Emilia picked her head up a bit and slowly opened her eyes. Hey eyes soo adjusted to the unfamiliar room and her body felt the warm firm mass she was laying on.

"Morning." He smiled as her face went from pale to crimson.

"I-I uh.. I can explain." She stuttered as she looked around. It didn't take but a second for her blush to go full blast as she tried to retract her arms from around him.

"No need. Puck told me everything. Well, everything except why you came here."

"Oh." After a minute, she tried to get up. However, she lost her footing and fell back down. "I'm so sorry Subaru." Once again, she was about 5 inches from his face. His deep brown eyes staring into her beautiful amethyst ones.

Subaru just laughed. "It's okay Emilia. It was nice having you stay the night here."

"Y-Yes well. I must be going." She got to her feet and quickly rushed to the door.

"Hey Emilia." She turned back to look at him. "I love you."

"I-I love you too." With that, she opened the door and left.

He stretched his arms out above his head. It was only then that he remembered that Rem was asleep on the floor. Looking over the side of the bed, was the cutest thing ever. Rem had pulled a pillow down with her and was using it. Funniest part was her butt was up in the air as she slept, though her long nightgown covered everything.

"Now how in the world did you end up that way?" Subaru quietly and gently retrieved the demon from the floor and placed her on the bed as he went to the shower. 'It's gonna be a long day.'
