03051999 – Thank you for such nice review! Ain't it a cute confession? Well, Aichi is adorable, right? Oh and I loved the minivan series! All the episodes! And there have been a few episodes where there are few instances of Kai and Misaki (implications) that they are close than in the actual anime (I noticed some). Anyway, the short eps are really worth watching and they are so cute and funny as well! I was like 'Cuteness overload!' and I wish they would more minivan eps. I loved it! Oh and I hope you'll like this chapter too! RnR! ^^

Jessica Pathak – Kai is showing unexpected reactions, isn't he? Let's see if he shows more of his emotions… (Although I'll try to keep his original character in check) And there's more to come! Thanks! Enjoy! ^^

Chapter 29

No One's POV

Kai Residence

"…" Genryu stared in front of him.

Genryu Kai was speechless at the moment. There aren't many situations which affect him much but this surely did. He stared at the young women in front of him and blinked. The Tatsunagi sisters looked very apologetic and worried as Suiko was profusely apologizing to him. Maki Nagashiro, Suiko's secretary, was behind them, standing a few meters away.

"I didn't know anything myself-… I'm deeply very sorry, Kai-sama…" Suiko bowed as she continued "If I had any idea about this I'd never-…"

Suiko paused when Genryu raised his hand up to stop her. Kai Toshiki didn't look a least bit affected which didn't go unnoticed by his uncle as he stood beside Genryu's seat while Kourin stood beside her sister.

Kai was recalling yesterday's events and how he enjoyed his day with Misaki before the Tatsunagi sisters showed up and he was called in the parlor. Kai was very grateful to Misaki for the situation that he was witnessing right now and if she was here, he would've hugged her. Yes, he was that happy… He suddenly recalled the quick peck he delivered on her soft cheek and how she was blushing… Now that he thought about it… he didn't think much but just acted. He was brought back to reality with Genryu's voice.

"It's fine…" Genryu sighed out.

The sisters looked reluctant while Kai looked amused.

"Uncle said it's fine so it's fine" Kai said and Genryu shot him a glare. "I think it's admirable to go to such lengths for one's family…" he added.

"You're so kind… Thank you for understanding" Suiko smiled in relief.

"Hn" Genryu grunted. "But can he… be a good leader?" he enquired and Kai smirked.

"Yes" Kourin replied with a confident smile.

"Of course. He has learned from the best after all" Suiko smiled at Kai who shrugged. "His name is Sendou Aichi-san" she said.

"Sendou… Aichi…" Genryu got another shock of the day…

"We'll take our leave. Thank you for your time" Suiko and Kourin bowed before leaving.

Kourin and Suiko walked off, leaving Genryu to his musings. Kai glanced at his uncle who hadn't said a word to him so he walked off.

On the other hand, Naoki and Shingo were eavesdropping around the corner.

"So that's Kourin…?" Naoki eyed the blonde. "And that's-… What happened to you?" he hissed at Shingo who was blushing and fidgeting beside him.

"K-Kourin-san… S-she's here!" Shingo stuttered out, grabbing Naoki's sleeve tightly. "Get me her autograph please! Please!" he begged.

"Ha?" Naoki looked at him, plainly. "Get a hold of yourself, Granny glasses" he hissed, rolling his eyes.

"Please…?" Shingo insisted, holding out a notebook and pen and Naoki sighed.

"Fine…" Naoki sighed and left to get an autograph. 'Boss will get mad if I go to them directly… And if the Boss uncle finds out, I'm a goner' he thought, looking for an opening and he found it when his eyes landed on Maki.

"Psst! Psssssttt!" Naoki called for attention as he hid behind a pillar but Maki didn't budge. "Psssttt! Oyi! Glasses girl!" he threw a crumpled paper at her which hits Maki on her head.

"What-…?" Maki turns to glare back and sees Naoki motioning her to come closer. She grabbed the ball of paper and walked to him, glaring all the while.

"What's the meaning of this, mister?" Maki asked, showing Naoki the crumpled paper.

"Sorry about that. I just want an autograph from Kourin. So here" Naoki told her, extending the book and pen and Maki frowned.

"I don't work for you, mister" she told him, turning back to leave but was surprised when Naoki grasped her wrist. "…?!" she looked at him, wide eyed.

"I know that. But you see, I can't go in there and my friend wants her autograph so just help out, will ya?" Naoki insisted and she raised her eyebrows. "Please…?" he requested, although he didn't look like he was requesting.

"Fine…" Maki sighed, taking the book and the pen.

"Thanks, Glasses girl!" he grinned.

"It's Maki. And you're still holding my hand" she told him and instantly let go.

"S-sorry!" he sputtered an apology, scratching the back of his head, embarrassed and she walked off with an amused smile.

"I'll back in a second" Maki told Suiko and Kourin as she walked off to hand the book and the pen to Naoki after getting Kourin's autograph.

"I hope it doesn't affect our business…" Suiko shared her worries.

"I'm really very sorry, Nee-san…" Kourin looked down.

"It won't" Kai said from behind.

"Kai-san…" Suiko and Kourin paused.

"I'll look into this matter myself. So don't worry about losing deals and all" Kai assured them.

"We… can't thank you enough. It'll be an honor for us if we can be of any help in future, Kai-san" Suiko smiled gratefully.

"I'm sorry for putting you through all that… I really am" Kourin said to Kai. "You even helped us…" she looked grateful and Kai sighed.

"It's alright. It was Tokura's idea" Kai shrugged and Kourin smiled.

"You're a good person, Kai-san" Kourin told him.

"Whoever told you that" Kai smirked.

"Ah… Such a fine young man! If only I wasn't so much older than you…" Suiko sighed dreamily.

"…!" Kai and Kourin gave her a bewildered look while Suiko laughed.

"Just kidding!"

One Week Later…

Misaki unconsciously touched her cheek then shook her head, repeatedly. She has been like that quite a lot these days. She narrowed her eyes at nothing in particular as she thought about the certain brunette. He is constantly on her mind ever since and it was making her annoyed. She clenched her fists. She won't be able to work like this at all!

'He did that on purpose!' she thought.

"Misaki-san, meeting with Kei-san is in ten minutes" Ibuki informed.

"K-Kai?"

"I said Kei-san" Ibuki corrected and Misaki cleared her throat. 'Kai, huh?' he smirked.

"Okay" she gave a curt nod. "You go ahead, Ibuki-san" she told Ibuki who shrugged.

"Yes, Boss"

"Are you okay, Misaki-chan? Your face looks flushed" Shin looked worried as he walked to his niece.

"I'm fine" Misaki replied. "Ibuki-san is here to help me then why are you here in office, Shin-san? I told you to rest at home" she stated.

"Uhh… Oh, yes. You're going to meet your friends today, right?" Shin said instead and smiled.

"Don't change the subject" she narrowed her eyes at her uncle who laughed sheepishly.

"Okay-okay. I'm leaving! You have fun!" Shin said and left.

'At least he won't be there today' Misaki thought and slapped her forehead 'I really need to stop thinking about him!'

That Evening…

Akari's Café

"It started raining…" Aichi sighed.

"Try this, Emi-san! I made this" Kamui served at Emi's table. "Aichi-onii-san, you too" he added.

"Oh, thanks. This is delicious, Kamui-kun!" Emi complimented with a smile and Kamui swayed with a blushing face.

"T-Thanks, Emi-s-san!" Kamui grinned.

"Why are you still here, Kamui-kun? Your shift ended an hour ago" Akari quirked an eyebrow.

"I… I'm here to help!" Kamui sputtered out.

"Oh, really…? If you say so" Akari teased, shooting a glance at Emi.

"Ne… Onii-chan, I really wanted to meet Kai Toshiki-san" Emi told Aichi who shrugged while Kamui was listening in.

"How cute" Akari smiled when Kamui left, grumbling.

"Kai-kun was supposed to-… Oh, he made it" Aichi smiled as he glanced behind Emi. "Good. Almost everyone's here" he said, happily.

"Of course! Ren-sama and Miwa-san dragged him" Asaka said while Kai looked uninterested as usual.

"…!" Kai looked surprised when Kamui crashed into him who seemed in a hurry.

"…"

Aichi and others looked as surprised as Kai whose shirt was blotched with some sauce. It was an accident and everyone knew it. Kamui held the spoon in his hand and looked at Kai who was a head taller than him. Kai narrowed his eyes down at Kamui who mimicked the glare as he seemed to recognize the taller brunette. At the same time, Miwa and Ren, who were parking their cars, entered the scene and looked amused.

"You! You're the 'Prince of Ladies' hurt, aren't you?!" Kamui exclaimed.

"He means… 'Heart'" Akari cut in.

"What…?" Kai looked confused.

"You won't win, you hear me? I'm gonna win her heart" Kamui stated. "And sorry about that shirt" he said and left.

"Hn…?" Kai was more confused now.

"Sorry about that, Kai-san… The girl he likes is a fan of you, that's why" Akari told Kai who rolled his eyes. "Anyway, there's restroom to your right" she pointed and Kai walked off with a sigh.

As soon as Misaki entered the café, she glanced around and saw the café was almost empty, except for her friends.

"Look, she's here" her friends greeted.

"Sorry for being late. My car broke down-…" Misaki paused when Kourin cut in.

"It's fine, Misaki-chan" Kourin smiled.

'Thank goodness… he isn't here' Misaki thought as she put her umbrella at the entrance and walked towards her friends. Her eyes roamed around to confirm Kai wasn't around and as she wasn't looking ahead, she bumped into Kai on the way. Misaki looked surprised as Kai held her shoulders to steady her. Kai looked amused when Misaki blinked a few times while looking at his face.

"Awww~! Look, they're hugging!" Akari exclaimed.

"No, we aren't" Misaki stepped away from Kai and glared at Akari. 'Must stay away from him!' she chanted in her head as she took a seat beside Kourin.

And from then on, Kai started noticing things he would never notice… Tokura Misaki was trying to avoid him and he didn't know the reason.

"Okay, so let's toast everyone!" Miwa exclaimed and Aichi sweatdropped.

"Guys… You don't need to-…"

"For Aichi and Kourin!" everyone shouted anyway…

An hour later…

Aichi and Emi left before everyone as Emi had early class the next day and Kamui went with them. Kourin left when her chaffer arrived while Miwa and Asaka left in Ren's car. Well, Akari signaled Miwa so that Misaki would be left to go with Kai and Miwa winked in approval before leaving.

"Now I have to get the bus…" Misaki sighed.

"Oh, no need!" Akari waved, dismissively. "Kai-san will drop you off" she stated, looking at Kai.

"Hn" Kai shrugged while Misaki looked reluctant.

"Umm… No, it's-…"

"Let's just go" Kai stated and left after giving a curt nod to Akari.

"Take care, you two!" Akari waved with a smile.

'That Akari!' Misaki glared in the front.

Kai merely drove his car after Misaki gave him directions to her house. She was sure he wouldn't speak but then she was proven wrong.

"Is there any problem?" Kai asked and she looked startled.

"No?" Misaki replied, calming herself.

"Then why are you avoiding me?" his question surprised her.

"I… am not avoiding you"

"Don't deny, Tokura…" he said. "You even changed seats" he was frowning at her.

"I was just-…" she paused. "I don't know what-…?" she paused again.

"Hn?"

"I couldn't focus on my work at all this week because you-…!" she stopped and he narrowed his eyes.

"I, what-…? We didn't even see each other all this week, Tokura" he stated.

"…You're right… I'm sorry" she said, realizing he was correct.

"That's fine" he said and shrugged "I know you missed me"

"Ha?"

"That's your stop" he said, stopping the car in front of her house.

"Yeah…" she looked in turmoil as she got off the car reluctantly. "Kai…" she called to get his attention.

"Hn?"

"Thank you… for everything, Kai" she smiled a little. "Now that everything's fine with you and our friends, we can finally focus on our own work" she said.

"Aa"

"I guess, I'm going to focus solely on my company now that everything's got back to normal… And I'm happy that I could help you after all that you've done for me" she told him and she looked grateful. "Besides, I promised I won't bother you anymore" she added and he frowned.

The sudden change in atmosphere was noticeable to both.

"You aren't a bother, Tokura…" Kai told her. 'I know what you're trying to do…' he thought and it hurt as well as angered him that she was making distance between them.

"T-that's good to hear…" she paused after that, unsure of what to say.

"It's alright, Tokura. You can say you no longer want to stay acquainted with me…" he deadpanned and she looked at him in surprise.

"…" she watched as he averted his eyes from her and started his car. Her look told him that he was correct.

"Goodbye, Tokura…"

"Goodbye, Kai…"

And he left…

Some Time later…

"Who is occupying the ring at this time-…?" Jun paused when he got his answer "Kai…?"

Jun was surprised to see Kai in the boxing ring after so long. He was more surprised that Kai was even present there as it was almost midnight. On the other hand, Kai Toshiki was angry and frustrated and very much conflicted and he himself wasn't sure why or when he got in the ring. All he did was punch the punching bag with unnecessary force which didn't go unnoticed by the spectators. The audience could see that the brunette guy must be really very angry before carrying on with their tasks.

"Guys, don't interrupt him. I'll be right back" Jun told his men and left hurriedly. 'I should call Miwa' he thought.

Meanwhile, Kai was in inner turmoil. He didn't…uh... couldn't understand what was happening to him or with Tokura. He wasn't at fault. Why did she suddenly want to cut ties with him? He wasn't stupid to see what she was trying to do. It was obvious to him and it had… hurt. She was breaking their bond… and he was very upset, hurt even. He just wanted to clear his mind but it doesn't seemed to help.

'After all this time, when I-…'

Kai threw one last punch at the sandbag and discarded his gloves. He didn't want to show his anger at her so he just left. It was suffocating in there. His head hurt and he took deep breaths. He just walked off not knowing where his feet took him…

"Kai-…" Jun came back a few minutes later and paused when he didn't see Kai anywhere. "Where did he go?" he asked a nearby person.

"He left. I saw him going up" the man answered.

"Check the club, Jun-sama" another guy suggested and Jun frowned at them.

"Go search for him now!" Jun shouted at his men, making the men surprised. "I'll look in the club. Call me once you find him!" he ordered and his men scrambled off.

"Yes, Jun-sama!"

For once, Kai Toshiki's mind wasn't working. He sat at a bar, on a bar stool and he didn't even knew. Yes, he was that affected. His eyes saw but he wasn't exactly looking.

"Get me some water" Kai said.

"I got something better than water" he heard someone say "Wanna try?"

Kai didn't reply and merely stared at the polished wood surface of the table.

"Here you go, sir" again someone said, putting a glass on the table which touched Kai's hand. "I think I've seen you somewhere, sir" the man added, eyeing Kai who grabbed the glass and drank from it.

On the other hand, Jun spotted Kai at the bar and went there hurriedly.

"Wait!" Jun grabbed the glass from Kai's hand and put it on the table. "Are you alright? Hey?" he asked Kai who looked at him.

"Jun-sama" the bartender addressed Jun.

"Jun…?" Kai addressed and Jun felt relieved. "Hey. I don't like this" he said to Jun who had no idea what his friend wanted to say.

"Uh… Let's get you home" Jun said and Kai sighed.

"No"

"How much did he drink?" Jun asked the bartender.

"Not much. A glass and a half, sir…"

"That's bad enough…" Jun sighed when Kai swayed in his seat with a flushed face. "Did something happen, Kai?" he asked the brunette.

"I don't know… what happened" Kai replied, confusing Jun more. "She just… cut ties with me" he said, upset and crossed his arms.

"You mean… you broke up?" Jun quirked an eyebrow. "Are you talking about that light haired lady that you rescued that day? She's your girlfriend, right?" he enquired.

"No… We're-…" Kai paused and scratched the back of his head as if thinking. "We're not… in relationship orr anything" he told Jun while trying to focus his eyes on Jun.

"Oh. Then it's not about break up…?" Jun muttered in confusion and Kai groaned in annoyance. "Then… did you two fight…?" he asked.

"Nah…" Kai shook his head 'no' and clicked his tongue "Tsk. You… won't… underztant (understand)"

"Okay-okay. Relax…" Jun sighed. "I think… she's confused or something? Or she wanted some space? You should wait for her" he told Kai who looked like he was contemplating something.

"Spazh…? (Space)… I see…" Kai's speech was more slurry now and Jun found it amusing. "But… we ain't-…" Kai suddenly felt his head spinning and he slumped on the table he sat at.

"Kai, you okay?" Jun grabbed Kai's shoulder to support him.

"No… I don (don't)-… feel good" Kai groaned out.

"There you are! Jun! What happened? Are you alright-…?" Miwa arrived a few minutes later. "And what is he doing here?!" he saw a slumped Kai at the table while Jun sat beside him.

"He's…drunk" Jun informed Miwa who looked surprised.

"What?!" Miwa exclaimed and shook Kai. "Kai? You okay?" he asked but Kai didn't answer as he had dozed off.

"I think… its heartbreak. He was in the ring earlier" Jun told Miwa and sighed. "Did he have a fight with his girlfriend? He was saying something about break up" he explained.

"Eh? He doesn't have a girl-… Wait. Heartbreak, you say?" Miwa raised his eyebrows and ruffled his hair. 'It must be something related to Nee-chan…' he thought and shook his head.

"Anyway, I'll lend you a hand. Get him home safely" Jun said as he stood up and grabbed Kai's arm.

"Yeah" Miwa grabbed Kai's other arm and the two supported the brunette by shouldering his weight as they walked towards the exit. Kai mumbled something incoherent as he stood with his friends' help.

"…!" Jun blinked in surprise, looking at Miwa's car and put Kai on the passenger seat. "You… have a pink car?" he stated, covering his laugh.

"T-that's my sister's!" Miwa looked embarrassed. "Anyway… thanks, Jun. We owe you again" he smiled.

"Hey, we're friends, aren't we? Now go on" Jun shrugged.

Miwa sighed as he glanced at a passed out Kai on the passenger seat 'You're so dishonest with yourself…'

To be continued…
