Chapter 16: 16

Evening came soon and Subaru made his way to the room of Emilia with a spare set of clothes in hand. He had promised her that he would spend the night with her before he and Rem went to his home world for however long.

The hallway seemed endless as he approached the large door he was searching for. Quietly, he knocked on the door.

Light footsteps came from inside as the door creaked open to reveal Emilia in her light white night gown. A pink blush lit her cheeks as she welcomed in her guest. Subaru noticed that the crystal was not around her neck.

"Emilia, where is Puck's crystal?" They started to her bed and sat down.

"Puck promised to let us have p-privacy tonight and is staying with Beatrice." Her pink blush turned a deep red on her pale cheeks.

"Well, I'm okay with that if you are." Subaru's silly grin got her to smile and overall feel better about the awkwardness.

"I-I'm okay with it. I just want one more night with you. Just us." Her selfless nature was beginning to override her choice.

Subaru noticed this. "Emilia, if you're having regrets about this…"

"No!" Her shout startled both of them. "I, I just want to see if I'm right."

"Right about what?"

"How I feel."

He held her hand and stroked her finger with his thumb. "Emilia, you don't have to push anything. It's not like we'll be apart forever. A couple of days at most."

Emilia let a tear slip out of her eye. She had a plan for tonight, but she didn't know if she could go through with it now. It was too… much.

"…Lia?" She only caught the last of it.

"Y-Yes?" Her faked smiled came up habitually to hide her nervousness.

"I asked, are you okay? You've been spacing out." Subaru placed his hand on her shoulder. "I can go if I'm the issue."

Emilia grabbed his hand and nuzzled it a bit. "I-I want you here, but I don't know what to do."

"About what?"

She took a deep breath. "This." She lunged forward and kissed him hard. The force of her movements threw him back on the bed and her on top of him. She had no idea what to do with her hands so they just cupped his face and held on.

Subaru on the other hand was very confused. Yea, he'd kissed Emilia before, but this was something else. This had traces of… lust? Her had no idea what was happening and had no idea how to react.

Her breathing was rushed, and her cheeks were flushed. (Dammit!) Her arms snaked around his neck and pulled him into her. Emilia had Subaru for the night and was not going to let go.

Meanwhile

Rem was sitting in her room and packing few things in a small bag. Subaru had told her that he was going to spend his last night here with Emilia and Rem agreed. She wasn't too happy about it at first, but she knew that Emilia probably loved him too. The only thing she was worried about was that Emilia trying to seduce him or something like that.

'But Emilia is the ultimate prude. There's no way she'd try and seduce him.' Rem chuckled at her own thought.

She continued to pack her bag. A set of sleep clothes, a set of day clothes, and her things from her bathroom. It was hard not to bring her maid outfit, but she knew she didn't need it. Subaru would take care of her on the other side. He would take care of her like she took care of him.

Just then, a thought panged to her. 'What if Emilia is trying to take one last attempt to steal him from me?' The idea seemed ludicrous, but there was always the possibility.

Rem shook her head side to side. "No, he wouldn't do that to Rem. Subaru loves me."

"Subaru loves all of us." A voice came from behind her. It was Ram.

"Ram?"

"So, what's my dear little sister nervous about now?" Ram grabbed her sister's shoulders.

"Uh, I…" Rem sighed and sat down. "I want to know what Emilia planned tonight with Subaru."

"Then let's go find out." Ram grinned ear to ear. Her mischief never stopped when it came to Subaru.

Rem sat confused for a second, then it hit. "You want to go spy on them?"

"Duh?"

"But isn't that betraying his trust?" Rem kicked her feet and played with her thumbs.

Ram knelt in front of her sister. "Yea, but it doesn't matter if we catch him breaking your trust first, does it?"

"I suppose not." The more Ram talked; the more Rem listened.

Soon enough, Ram was dragging her baby sister down the hall to Emilia's room. The halls were silent except for the sounds of the two maids making their way to the room of one they served. Everything about this was wrong, but they had to check and be sure. Ram wanted to make sure that Subaru was right for her sister, and Rem was just following her lead.

The two finally approached the white door and leaned in. Nothing could be heard at first, but when Ram listened into the keyhole, she heard it. A feminine moan. Quickly, she looked into the keyhole and saw Emilia on top of Subaru kissing him like her life depended on it. She got a clear view up Emilia's dress due to the way the two were laid across the bed. A small wet spot had manifested on Emilia's underwear.

Ram dared not say anything yet. Rem was still trying to listen in, but the only noise was coming from the key slot. As Ram watched on, her own core was beginning to stir a bit.

Rem noticed as her sister brought her legs closer together, rubbing her thighs. "Sister?"

"Uh, it's n-nothing." Ram stuttered, never taking her eye off the keyhole. She could see everything and hear even more. She heard Emilia moan into Subaru's mouth and watch as she ran her pale thigh up against his crotch.

The blue haired demon had had enough. Her sister was keeping something from her, and she wanted to know what. "Move over." Rem gently nudged her sister away and peered through the hole. There, she saw the man she loved making out with her rival. *Gasp*

That stopped everything. Rem's little gasp caught Emilia's attention and got her to stop and stare at the door.

"Is everything okay?" Subaru asked as he leaned up. He was panting since they had been kissing for about a minute straight or so.

"Someone's at the door." Emilia never looked away from the door to her room. She rolled off and covered herself in embarrassment.

"Oh, of all the people in this mansion, who could be spying on us now?" He chuckled and got up from the bed. His track jacket was off of him, and his pants were sagging down a bit. The more he walked, the more they fell. Eventually, he made it to the door. He quickly pulled them back up to cover himself a bit.

"Who do you think it is?" The elf wondered aloud.

"I think I know who it is." He reached for the handle and gripped it.

Emilia pondered a moment. Of all people, who would be cheeky enough to peek on their privacy? "Could it be Rem? Maybe Ram?"

"Try both."

Without warning, Subaru flung the door open stunning the twins and making them fall down to the floor.

"Welcome you two. What brings you by?" His grin kind of made Ram mad and Rem all the more embarrassed.

"I wanted to know if you were cheating on my dear little sister. Low and behold I see you here kissing Emilia." Ram scolded.

Subaru just placed a hand, not on Ram's shoulder, but Rem's. "Rem. If you want me to leave Emilia here right now, I will. However, I did make the promise that I would spend my last night here with her, and you did agree to let me."

Rem stood in silence for a moment, weighing her options. On one hand, she could ask Subaru to leave, and he would most likely stay with her. On the other hand, she could tell him to keep his promise since she would be with him in his own world. In the end, she chose the correct option.

"Y-You can stay with her tonight. I don't mind." Her bright red cheeks contrasted perfectly with her light blue hair and eyes.

"EH?!" Ram turned on a heal at her sister.

Rem turned and started to leave, but Subaru caught her. "Rem." He gave her a quick kiss. "I love you."

That got the blue haired maid all giddy. She grabbed her sister's hand and pulled her along smiling the entire way.

"Now, that's taken care of." Subaru walked back to the bed where he found Emilia still a little embarrassed. "You want to continue? Or just go to bed? It is pretty late."

Emilia looked over at her clock. It was getting late. "W-We can just go to bed." The inner part of her screamed at her to continue but she couldn't. Not after the twins showed up at the door. "I-I."

Subaru hushed her. "It's okay. I get it. Bad timing and that." He quickly kissed her forehead as he laid down on the bed.

The elf sat stunned for a moment before falling back and laying on his bare chest. "I-I don't want you to go." Her voice was soft and muffled.

He ran his hand through her hair. "I know, but I have to go home. My parents are probably worried sick about me. I did just kind of disappear on them." His right hand wrapped around her back. "It's not like I'll be gone forever. Just till I get settled back there and explain all of this to my parents."

Somehow, that made Emilia feel better as she visibly relaxed. "Alright, but you have to come back here and see me. I don't know what I'd do without you."

Subaru just laughed. "Silly, how else do you think I'm supposed to help you win the crown? I may only be gone a week, so come up with fun stuff to do when I get back okay."

"Okay." Emilia smiled and closed her eyes.

It wasn't long till she fell asleep. Subaru just stared at the ceiling for about thirty or so minutes before he got a strange feeling. He'd been around the girls enough to know when he was being spied upon.

"Alright, Rem. You can come in now. She's asleep." He called out seemingly to no one.

The door quietly squeaked open to reveal the left eye of Rem. She was no longer in her maid outfit but instead, a night gown that reached her ankles.

"Are you mad at me for spying?" She sheepishly made her way over to him.

"No, I'm not mad. I figured it was either you or Ram coming here." He chuckled and placed a comforting hand on Rem's cheek.

"Why would Ram come back?"

"In case Emilia and I got busy." The slight blush on his face transferred to Rem's once she realized what he meant.

"Y-You wouldn't do that to me, would you?" She really wanted to hear that he wouldn't be with Emilia after choosing her, but she knew the answer.

"I can't say that I don't love her too Rem, you know this." He turned his head back to Emilia. "However, I wish to be with both of you, but I don't know how."

Rem just stared. She knew that his heart was torn between the two of them. "I know you said that you don't want to have more than one wife because it's immoral to your world. What if…"

"What if, what?

"What if, in this world, you're married to Emilia. And in your world, you and I…" Rem's cheeks were once again bright red.

Subaru saw her trouble and took her hand. "Rem. Are you saying that when we get to my world, you want to marry me?"

She jumped a bit when he said it, but a smile appeared on her face. "Hai." She nodded her head very fast.

"Then, when we get there. Let's settle in a bit, explain this all to my family, then we can figure it out."

"Promise?"

He stuck out his pinky to her. "Promise."

Rem happily stuck her pinky out and wrapped around his. This sealed their deal. When they got to his home and settled in, they would get married.
