Okay so here is the next chapter. I just wanted to remind everyone of two things. 1. I know the first few Chapter are a bit extreme to say the least but I promises if you stick with me you will also get some lighter funnier times ahead as well. 2. This stories is not 100% cannon to the story line, I have adjusted a couple of things I have imaged "went on behind the scenes" so to speak to suit my muse. Now with that I would like to thank all of those who left reviews and kudos they do help the inspire the muse and the writing. Truly it means a lot, thank you. Now on to what you all really came here for, lol.

Chapter Two – Can You Feel My Heart by Bring Me The Horizon

Hyde's P.O.V – January 1, 1980 – 7:57 AM

He was standing with his back propped up against the corner that faced the hall where Red and Kitty had walked out of sight more than three hours ago, keeping his eyes focused waiting to see their figures return. If it wasn't for the couple security guards sitting at the desk, never leaving, he would have already attempted to find them on his own. Intensive Care Unit, ICU, that is where Jackie was, that was all they knew. That's if she was still alive.

He took a deep breath as his chest constricted at just the mere thought, as he sent up another prayer for her heart to keep beating. Also maybe, God if you happen to be real just maybe, you could let Jackie feel his heart beating along with hers, use his heart to beat for her if that was what was necessary to keep her alive. Choking back a sob that was threating to tear loose from his chest Hyde took another deep breath and swallowed back his sorrow as he looked up towards where he was told heaven was supposed to be to finish his request. And sure, maybe Hyde was pushing his luck with this one, but he had to add if there was anyway it was possible, could he let Jackie know even though he had screwed up monumentally that he still loved her.

Taking off his sunglasses Hyde rubbed his face harshly before glancing over at the others in anger, the only other one still awake was Eric. Eric, who did his best give Hyde a reassuring smile, even though his own face was so obviously filled with worry. Donna was asleep in the chair next to him, her head resting in Eric's lap. Bob was on the other side of Donna his head bobbing as he tried to stay conscious, was currently resting on his hand, dozing quietly. At least he was doing his best to stay awake, poor old man. Fez and Kelso, on the other hand were in chairs next to each other along the wall farthest from Hyde both their heads resting back against the wall in slumber as if they hadn't a care in the world.

Movement caught his attention in the peripheral vision from the opposite side, causing him to bolt upright in a ram-rod straight position. Taking a couple of steps closer to the open double doors to his left as he spotted Red turn around the corner making his way towards them, hearing Eric scramble to get up behind him he held his breath in anticipation. Red was alone, that had to be good right? That would mean that Kitty had stayed with Jackie, right? If she was still alive, she wouldn't want to leave her alone at a time like this. The closer Red got the less confident Hyde was in that assessment, he could see his red rimmed eyes, see the anger in the tense and rigid way he walked, almost as if he was marching like he did in his military days.

"I'm only going to say this once, so you idiots follow me." Red spat at them as he passed them by and made his way to stand in the center of the waiting room. Eric patted Hyde on the back as they both quickly and quietly followed Eric's father, Hyde's eyes already misting because in his heart he knew whatever Red was about to say was not going to be good news. His Doll was going to break his heart again, except she had no idea she was doing it this time.

Red then bent over and picked up a nearly full cup of cold coffee that setting in front of him on a small table, he then turned to his left and proceeded throw said coffee all over Kelso and Fez giving them both the rude awakening. As their screams rang out, they in turn woke up Donna and Bob.

"Come on Red, what the…" Kelso started before he noticed the look in Red's eyes to which he quickly and smartly shut his month.

"I don't know how the any of you morons could sleep at a time like this. You do realize that Jackie, your friend, the girl you're supposed to be dating..." he pointed at Fez in anger and Hyde feels so much more that he can put into word in that moment as Fez shrinks away. "That she could very well be dying."

"No." The word was automatically pulled from his lips, as his felt Eric's hand grasp his shoulder firmly keeping him back as he had apparently been about to take another step towards Red, everything within him rejecting on a primal level losing her so permanently, even someone simply speaking the possibility. Red's eyes lock with his, as everyone come to stand around them. He watched as Red calmed himself by taking a deep breath, and Hyde knew regardless of he wants to hear it or not, the man he trusts most in this world is about to tell him the truth of the situation.

"The next 45 hours are critical; she's having seizures which are causing her heart to fail and go into cardiac arrest. It happened twice before they came to get me and Kitty, and once while we were back there with her. They have her on a ventilator because her lungs are weak and not wanting to function on their own. There are other things, but I am not going to go into that right now. For now, this is what we must focus on, just keeping her alive."

"Why? Why is this happing to her?" He couldn't help himself, Hyde had to know what it was that was trying to take his doll away from him so eternally. He was pissed and he had no one else to take it out on, at least not now. What had caused this to happen? She had been drunk with him more than a handful of times before and never had something like this occurred. Had she been sick, and no one noticed? One thing was for sure, he knew now he had wasted precious time. Time being angry and vengeful when he could've talked to her and worked issues out the way she had pleaded for him to do in the beginning when Sam had first arrived.

"Now that, that is something I would like some answers to myself. Do any of you idiots know what Cloud-Nine is? Or that Jackie was using?" Red sharpened his eyes at each of them in a glare that meant business and Hyde's mind almost short circuited, Jackie rarely smoked with them, there was no way she would be using a hard drug like Cloud-Nine. He'd heard some bad stuff about that crap and even he wouldn't come within ten feet of it.

"She's not using Mr. Red, she just has some happy pills that make her not sad anymore, there's nothing wrong with that." Fez piped up as if everything was okay with what Jackie had done. As if Jackie suddenly being a death's door was not the fault of her so called, "happy pills." Just the fact that Fez had known she'd been using any kind of hard drugs and said nothing to anyone pisses him off, he could have stopped this from happening, he could have saved Jackie's life. Hyde felt himself stepping forward again, fists tight, only to be stopped by Eric grabbing both his shoulder's this time and Red placing his hand on his chest and fixing him with a scowl of now is NOT the time.

"Are you telling me you knew Jackie was taking that crap and you didn't do anything about it? That's not okay Fez!" Apparently, Hyde wasn't the only one to feel or think this way, he thought as Donna ripped in to Fez from the other side of Eric, letting Hyde hold his tongue on the matter.

"But Donna, you're the one who said it made her all better! Remember that night we went out to the bar." Wait, what?! Donna had told Jackie that she was better after she had taken this junk. Hyde's eyes widen as he snapped in neck to turn look at Donna in shock, along with Eric next to him.

"Wait, wait, are you guys telling me that you both knew Jackie using this stuff?" Eric asked clearly in shock at what had become of his friends while he had been away in Africa, as he let go of Hyde.

"No! No, I mean… Well, she was acting… Okay maybe I knew something was off. I was just so glad she'd stopped bugging me with all the sobbing and crying and was back to being happy. Fez was the one who actually knew about the pills?" Hyde flinched at her words. That part, all the crying a sobbing, he was the one responsible for that. He had assumed, he knew now mistakenly, that Donna would be there for Jackie as he let loose with all his venom and rage with Sam for her affair with Kelso in Chicago.

Putting his hands on his hips, Hyde took a deep breath and did his best to control his anger and the sick feeling building in the pit of the stomach at not only towards his friends but himself, as he asked the question, he needed the answer to, the question he knew Red needed the answer to. Locking his eyes with Fez, Hyde demanded he just where he got the information he had. "How the hell did you know she was taking the pills, Fez?"

"I… I… I like to read her diary. She writes about a lot of stuff in there or well at least she used to. The last couple of months she hasn't made an entry." Fez pauses as he realized moving his gaze from Hyde to Eric, Red, and Bob too, that he has done something VERY wrong. He fiddles with his fingers for a moment before he continues. "She keeps the dairy in her dresser drawer, that is where she keeps the pills too."

There was a very long silent pause where the air that lingered around them seemed almost dangerous, like if anyone of them but Red was to move a bomb would have gone off consuming them all. Hyde kept his eyes fixed on Red, waiting for what was next. Hoping and praying to that same God he seemed to be praying an awful lot to the past few hours, that Red would let him see Jackie, that his Doll would make it through this next 45 hours so could TRY and fix some of the damage Hyde, himself had help play apart in.

Each second that passed by, watching Red rubbed both hands down his face before placing them firmly on his hips, Hyde struggled with the sick feeling in the stomach and a rising anger with himself at what was happening. Because with each second that passed, he remembered more and more of just how much damage he had inflicted on his beautiful Doll, just how much he himself had to make up for. Sure, she wasn't an angel, as his mind keep reminding him. They didn't get to this impasse without her ultimatum, cheating with Kelso, and harsh words too, but when it came down to it… it was as if someone or something was telling Hyde if he hadn't of chosen Sam when she walked through that door, if he had just sat there and talked to Jackie, they wouldn't be here.

Red's P.O.V

"As much as I hate to say it… we may need the information she has in that diary. Dr. Asher seems to think Jackie has been using for quite a while and from what Num-Nuts and Donna here is saying, I guess that is true. Knowing all the details of that could help him to treat Jackie medically. And digging through her personal things so that Dr. Asher can know when she started using and how much she is taking in order to help save her life... Well, then it's need to the done." Red stated in a fact of the matter tone as the rubbed at the tension in the neck, his eyes never straying from that of the two boys in front of him. They had to know it had to be them to be the ones in charge of retrieving Jackie's things, he knew Steven especially wouldn't want to go, but he couldn't trust the other morons with this.

"I know that some of you may not want leave right now, but you don't have a choice in the matter." He pulled himself to his full height, examining each of the young adults in front of him, making sure they all knew this was not a request.

"Can I at least..." Donna began in a strained voice filled with tears, only to be cut off by her own father.

"Excuse me young lady but I didn't raise you to interrupt, and I believe Red here it's finished with what he has to say." Bob instructed in a no-nonsense tone, showing that was he here to back Red up in more than just a physical manner. Placing himself beside Red's right side like a pillar in a storm, Bob nodded at Red to continue before clapping on the back as if to let him know he had his back covered.

"As I was saying, fact of the matter is there are going to be a lot of things that are going to be changing. Many of which, I am sure you morons are going to be objecting to. And let me assure you I don't' give damn what you think, what you want, or what you like, you will be doing things my way from here on out or you will have my foot so far up your ass you'll be chewing on the sole of my boot, am I understood?" Red looked at each person to confirm that they understood what the near future was mostly going to look like for them, especially were Jackie was concerned.

"Now Eric, I want you to take Steven along with brainless 1 and 2 to Jackie's apartment so you and Steven can get that diary. Steven you are to go through Jackie's room see if you can find anything that can be of use other than the diary." He pulled out the keys to the Vista Cruiser from his pants pocket and handed them over to his son holding his eye contact. Even if he didn't say the words out loud, Red hoped Eric could see just how proud he was of his son he was in that moment. Maybe it wasn't clear to the others yet, but it had become clear to him that his son had been a vital part of this group. Once he had left for Africa it seemed as if they had all lost their minds, and fallen apart and he was hoping his son would be up to the task of helping them to find their sanity and piece them all back together.

Sparing a glance, at Steven, the other young man whom he had come to think of as his son, Red saw in his eyes that the battle that had been raging inside him for the past 9 months since the he had come back from Las Vegas had irrevocably reach a full blow war. The war between the boy who was scared to give himself completely over to love and the bitter angry man who hated the fact that he did love; Steven was going to have to look inside himself and not only face who he had become but come to a decision as to who he ultimately would decide to be once and for all. This was not going to be an easy road for him, and he did not envy the journey Steven had ahead. Swallowing hard Red quickly moved on, Steven didn't need any more direction he knew what he was to do.

"And you two are to stay at the apartment and wait see if anyone calls or comes looking for Jackie that you have never seen before. She had to be getting the crap from somewhere, we need to know where and since you boneheads can't be bothered with caring enough to even to stay awake here, I can only hope you don't screw something as easy as waiting at the apartment." He ordered the two dumbest of the group as he pinned them down with his glower making sure if they botched this up it would be Red, they answered to.

"What about me Red?" Donna's voice was small, watery from the tears that were silently spilling down her cheeks. Red could almost see her as the small girl she used to be in the moment, but the was part of the problem wasn't, she wasn't a child any more… none of them were.

"Donna what I need you from is probably the hardest of all. I need you to pick out two outfits for Jackie." Red knew asking this would be hard, but it had to be done, still it seemed only he, Bob and Steven understood the gravity of what he was asking. Bob, his pillar of solidary had to take a seat, Steven simply turned and walked away towards the exit leaving altogether.

"Two outfits, but why would she… Oh…" The confused looked on her and everyone's face left the moment it hit them. One outfit for if Jackie got better, the other if Jackie didn't make it.

"Can you go with the boys and get that done, we need to be prepared and I don't want Kitty to be the one to go through Jackie's clothes at the time like this. I know it's a lot to ask but I think it's the least you own Jackie after the last few months, don't you." He stated rather than asked because they both knew she owed Jackie that and a whole lot more. Watching as Eric took off after Steven, he couldn't help but look at the three people that were supposed to be Jackie so called friends. Yes, they all owed her a lot of their time and affection if they ever deserved to have the title of her friend again.

"Yeah, yeah I can get it done." Red was able to make out Donna say in between the sobs that had taken over her as the reality that her friend, someone she did care about, was at deaths door took hold.

"Good, now go before I lose what little patience I have at the moment and beat the hell out of all of you."

Eric's P.O.V - January 1, 1980 - 8:47 AM

The drive over to Fez and Jackie apartment seemed like it could hardly contain it silence that was being cram packed into the vehicle along with the occupants. Eric hated it. Every part of him longed to make some sort of joke to break the tension that had built around them, as the same heaviness followed them down the breezeway and inside the small living space that Jackie and Fez shared once they had arrived.

"Soo… you guys have anything to eat?" Leave it to Kelso to be the one break the silence and think about his stomach. Eric couldn't help but roll his eyes as he watched Kelso head towards the kitchen and opened the fridge, with Fez not far behind. Donna closed the door behind her and fell against as if she simply didn't have the strength to stand anymore and Hyde immediately veered off towards Jackie's room.

"I can't believe you can really think about eating at a time like this?" Eric froze as soon as he heard Hyde throw that snide comment of his shoulder, he had known it was coming of course. He had just thought, well he had hoped Hyde was going to wait to explode when his Dad was around to control him.

"Come on Hyde he's just a hungry little guy and I am too. I am sure we all need to eat a little..." His head ping-ponged back towards to the kitchen to where Fez was trying to cajole everyone into maybe eating a small bite, when Hyde cut him off.

"NO! What we need is to get the crap we came here for and get back to Jackie. You do remember who Jackie is right?" Hyde turned back to face them when he commented this time his much tone gruffer and more annoyed, making the hair on the back of Eric's neck stand on end because he could see what was coming if they didn't back off.

"Yes, Hyde I do. I also happen to remember that Jackie is my girlfriend, not yours." Oh, of love of Luke Skywalker, No Fez no! What the hell are you doing. That was the opposite of backing off. Eric thought as he exhaled and shook his head in astonishment.

"Your girlfriend…" And here we go, Eric thought as he watched a Hyde take a couple menacing steps in Fez's direction.

"First of all, the two of you have been together all of two seconds, which by the way never would have happened without me. Secondly, she has been high as a kite the entire relationship if you can even call it that. Now let's move on to the fact that you knew she was using Cloud-Nine, a drug that just may have killed her and did absolutely NOTHING about it. And you want me to acknowledge Jackie as YOUR girlfriend, NO Fez, it's not happening. As far as I'm concerned Jackie's NOT even your friend. As matter a fact you lucky I don't…" Hyde started taking another step towards their shaking foreign friend his fist curled so tight that Eric was sure there was next to no circulation in them.

"Hyde man, maybe you should just take a breath a chill out. Fez is just trying to…" Donna finally jumped away from the door, her voice aiming for soft but still you could hear the frantic edge to it and Eric knew it would only succeed in turning Hyde wrath in her direction.

"You know what Donna, screw you too. You're no better than he is." Yep, for the love of the force why do I always have to be right. He thought a Hyde lite into Donna too.

"Screw me. Hey if you want to start throwing stones around here, you're..." And there goes Donna, well looks like I get to be Yoda, Yay!

"ENOUGH! All of you, shut your traps!" Eric yelled finally having done at watching his friends rip each other apart.

"What the hell are you all doing?! We are supposed to be friends not ripping each apart. Is this what it was like for Jackie?" Well, that shut them up. The uncomfortable silence was now back time ten, taking a deep breath Eric knew he had to saying something to start mending fences, even if it was just a beginning step.

"Look, we were all wrong in what happened with Jackie okay. Me included. The she-devil is our apart of us and we let her down in a big way. WE… we that mean all of us. We can set here blaming each other, or blame one person more than the other all damn day long and it's not going to change the fact the Jackie in the hospital right now fighting for her life. All we can do now is pull together and agree to be better. Promise to be there for her like we weren't before when we should have been, right?" He watched as everyone, with the exception of Hyde nodded in agreement. Sighing he walked over to the man he thought of as his adopted brother, and placed a careful hand on Hyde's shoulder watching his hands flexed a couple of times.

"Hyde, I know that…"

"Don't Forman. I don't give a damn what the rest of you do, I'm going to be in Jackie's room to look for what we need. If any of you have any sense at all, you will leave me the hell alone." Raising his hands up as if in surrender Eric stepped back as Hyde stomped into Jackie's room and slammed the door shut.

Eric let his hands fall to his sides as his eyes roamed over his remaining friends. Well, it wasn't the greatest of starts but at least no one was arrested or ended up in the hospital, so it wasn't the worst either. And with Hyde's hostility the later had most certainty been a possible outcome. Problem was now they were all looking to him as if asking what to do next, and hell if Eric knew the answer to that question.
