"Wake up bro you got to go get your first pokemon from the professor today!" A voice called out jumping on my back kinda feeling like a four legged fury.
"What? Where am I even? This is not my room." I said groggy from just waking up and not thinking correctly yet.
"Bro wake up you have to go before all the pokemon are taken by your friends." the voice said again.
"What am I doing here, why am I a nightwing and why is my whole setup gone? I need to log into CoD today because the new season is out!" I said rushing out of bed falling on my face as I tried to balance on two legs and walk normally.
"Starshot what is wrong with you just go to the training room and get a pokemon i'm out of here." the small dragon said, walking out looking scared and confused.
"How did this happen? I'm not where I was when I went to sleep last night. This looks like what jade mountain would look like and if it is then I should know my way around here or I can find a map." I stumble out of bed and learn to walk pretty fast and get used to it as well. "Ok now if this world is the same as the books then nothing should go wrong if i just avoid the darkstalker mountain and dont talk to the jade winglet i should survive and that is my main priority."
"Wait, how do you know about Darkstalker? Can you hear him as well?" A soft voice said coming from another nightwing.
"Um uh wait that means you are moon right? Could you show me to the training room?" I said trying to fly over the question as she started to squint and question about if I can really hear him or not.
"Sure this way." she said, still looking at me and giving me the death stare. "Why can't I read your mind? All I hear is scavenger squeaks?" she thought to herself.
"So do you have a pokemon or are you getting one?" I ask with a smile trying to get information and be nice.
"Yeah but I have my partner Gothita." She said pointing at the ball on her shoulder.
"Do you know the options I would have in a starter? Like Rowlet, Popplio, or Litten." I said with my eyes closed and imagining what life would be like with a pokemon. "Man if I had real pokemon in highschool I know I would have been the best trainer." I sighed.
"Ok a few things first normally your options would be Salandit from the Sandwing Kingdom given, Budew from the rainforest not so far from here, and Spheal from the Seawing and Icewing due to how late it is I don't think you will get one of those. Next, what is highschool and three how do you know about Darkstalker when neither me nor him can read or speak to you in your mind?!" She shouted at me with a roar.
"Ok look i'll tell you i'm not from here or at least i think the last thing i remember, was going to school then coming home to my house falling asleep. After that i woke up here ok! where i'm from this world is a book for people to read and is not real ok there!" I shouted at her as something had poked around the corner and ran away. "Im human or i'm supposed to be i don't know what happened to me did i die? Are there others here? What am I doing here? What is my name?" I questioned as I held her by the shoulders, almost crying in the fear I felt for the first time.
Moon had sat there eyes open wide taking in all the information that was pouring out of my mouth and into her ears. "I-I don't understand wh-what are you talking about. Thi-This sounds like a myth. A scavenger society and you Starshot were one of them?" she said as she walked
"Yes and before I was Starshot I was a human named Mike Akaba" I said entering the training grounds.
"Ah Starshot good to see you but sadly all the starters have been taken but i do have something" Webs said as he called over a Dreepy from a Dragopult that was not far away. "This Dreepy has been looking to leave its mother, and go on an adventure so if you want you can take him with you."
"Sure, I'll take him with me." I said looking the dreepy in the eyes as it smiled and hopped on my back.
"Here is Dreepy's pokeball or at least it will be. Just tap him on the head with it Starshot." Webs said as he handed me the ball.
"I know how this works old man, I just have to get used to throwing things with these talons." I said as I tapped Dreepy on the head and put him inside the pokeball.
"Oh and here you will need this pokedex. It is enchanted with magic to show the wielder the entries it holds in it. There are only 2 of them that exist and were made by an old animus dragon named Monolith." Webs said handing me a book that started to talk in my mind
"Dreepy the lingering pokemon has been registered to your pokedex." The dex said as the book opened to a page with Dreepy on it.
"I wonder if i could just say read dex entry for Dreepy" as i said that the book started to telepathically read out the information of the pokemon in question.
"Dreepy the lingering pokemon. This pokemon has a tendency to hang around dragons that have lost something close to them, it is also said that this pokemon loves flying at high speeds." The dex read out.
"Oh hey if there are only two of these then why give one to me?" i Pondered and asked Webs.
"It has your name on it on the front so I guess it should be yours." Webs said turning around to hand be a bag with a strap to put around my arm. "And with this all you need is a ball holder and I can get one made in 2-3 days."
"Thank you, now I'm going back to my room so I can sleep and think about something." I said as I walked out of the training grounds.
Just then a strange dragon had challenged me into a battle as they also had picked up a starter today. A small rainwing with her pink and yellow scales slowly changing to a light purple and emerald green. "So you have your pokemon and I have mine so let's have a battle please. Oh and the name is Kinkajou. How do i know you got a pokemon well i might have been eavesdropping on you and heard about you getting one so now we battle right?" she said with intense speed and basically forcing me to turn back around and go into the training room for my first battle in this world and if it was like the games i was going to win.
"This is not like how I planned my first fight to go but sure let's battle." Just as I said that the same yellow and pink dragon had walked around the corner the same one as before.
"Oh so you know what i was going to ask you then sure let's go!" Kinkajou said turning light purple, yellow, and emerald green.
"You throw out first." I said as I puzzled over what I saw and thought of finding something to see my face in later.
"Ok well. Go Budew!" she shouted as her pokemon emerged from the pokeball with a smile that turned into a more serious look well more than her trainer
"Dreepy you are on!" I said as Dreepy came out of his pokeball and landed on top of my head. "Dreepy go use Infestation!" I shouted as he started to call an infestation on Bedew keeping it in place and dealing super effective damage.
"What was that? How did you get your pokemon to do a move like that? I just had to learn my Bedew's moves but you just know!" Kinkajou said with an open hanging jaw and sheer surprise as she turned a dark red and deep yellow.
"Because I know what my Dreepy knows from experience with pokemon and I know yours as well." I said waiting for her to call out an attack till she recalled her Bedew
"Wow good job you win! Anyway the name is-" She started before I interrupted her.
"Kinkajou, I know now but why did you stop the battle? It was getting good and we just started." I said as she was shocked and confused on how I thought battles worked.
"Because you got the first hit so you won!" She said hoping over to where me and Dreepy where standing.
"But normally battles go on till a trainer's team faints." I said backing up a little bit.
"But here on school grounds the rule is that whoever hits the first move wins. So you won the battle plus its only training." She said moving even closer and turning both a light and dark pink with little bits of lime green in her scales.
"That's fair, could you back up please?" I ask as my partner jumps in.
"Dr-Dreepy!" it shouted with a squeak.
"Calm down buddy, it's ok just head back into your ball for now." I told it as it vanished with a red light into his ball.
"Anyway I'm hungry and it's time for lunch so I'm going to the prey center for some mangos!" Kinkajou shouted as she rushed out of the training grounds.
"Hey wait up, I need to know the way there!" I shout as I bolt out after her putting Dreepy's ball in my bag.
After running for what felt like hours I had caught up to the rainwing as she entered the fruit side of the prey center. I followed her and got looks from some dragons, eating meat from some animals they had gotten. However I still followed her till she got a mango from a tree and knowing what and where things are is a plus.
"Why did you follow me?" Kinkajou asked.
"Few things, one im hungry and two I did not know where the mangoes were. They are my favorite fruit." I said trying not to make it weird by grabbing one and walking out.
"Oh wait before you leave, what even is your name?" She asked as I questioned that statement what to go by.
"The name is Mi- no Starshot." I said turning around and walking out the room hearing a cry that even in my past life I had known the cry of Arceus as I heard his voice ring out in my ears.
"Thus start your new life now shalt thou come and face thi?" I hear him say in my mind.
"Oh I will and when I get to you. You will explain everything!" I thought as i moved along out taking a bite out of the mango.
