As me and Winter enter the training grounds we are met with Clay, Sunny, and Starflight looking down at Winter but looking up at me was Sunny.
"Do you know what you have gotten yourself into, boys?" she asked, flicking her tail back and forth kinda like a dog.
"A fight with a pokemon that has only a base stat total of 345?" I said jokingly ready for the battle that I knew was going to be hard but I had a plan in my back pocket.
"As the eldest nightwing here I have to say. Starshot I'm disappointed that you would do this and put a bad name on us." I could hear Starflight thinking in his mind and I rolled my eyes as Larvitar popped out of his ball latching onto Sunny's tail.
"Hey get off!" she shouts at him as he latches on tighter till I click my tongue and he lets go.
"Sorry he does that a lot." I say picking up Larvitar and putting him on the top of my head.
"It's fine what can you do against a cute thing like that." she says jumping up and holding him in her arms as if it was her own dragonet.
"Mhm." i say as Winter had gotten into his position to fight this battle. "CLay what is this fight a 2v1?" I ask knowing the Rhyhorn is weak to ice and ground moves.
"Correct now Rhyhorn, come on out!" he shouts as a Rhyhorn appears in a instant
"Sunny, could you let Larvitar go?" I ask as he lets go of the small pokemon who hopes onto the battlefield for the 2nd time today.
"Larvitar!" it roars in its high pitched voice.
"S-Snorunt go." Winter says as his Snorunt appears to do battle alongside Larvitar.
Without hesitation I shouted "Larvitar use Stomping Tantrum!" as Larvitar starts to beat its feet faster and faster till it charges right into the Rhyhorn.
"Super Effective! Critical Hit!" I hear the voice call out as the rhyhorn faints.
"Well that was a let down of a battle." I proclaim figuring out that I might have over-leveled a bit. "Could we go again but a rhydon vs both of us?" I ask as Winter looks me dead in the eyes as to say are you insane.
"Sure thing, I'm always up for a fight if you want one." Clay said with a smile. "but niter of you learned a single thing thanks to it."
"I did learn one thing from this, it's that Sunny loves my Larvitar a bit too much." I say as Sunny is holding him again as his face is filled with confusion.
"No, now both of you will be going to the rainforest to pick up some shiny stones and Budew that queen Glory is gifting us." He said as I called Larvitar back to his ball and Winter did the same to his Snorunt.
"Fine with me Clay, just look out for your sister and brother ok Clay?" I say leaving the room hoping he would stop them before the events of the book take place and I would have to do dragon on dragon fighting.
"So how did your fight go? I'm going to guess you lost?" a familiar voice said from behind me.
"No i won now who are you? Oh moon, what's up?" I ask her as her jaw drops.
"I can't even beat Sunny's Growlithe let alone Clay's Rhyhorn." she says as i hear in her head.
"He is one of us, look behind his eyes he has the scale." A deep bellowing voice said from Moon's mind.
"I see that now so that's what that means." she thinks as the voice who was Darkstalker trying to be sneaky starts to speak again.
"Don't worry if push comes to shove we could always battle him and win if all he has is a Dreepy." Darkstalker adds.
"A Dreepy that is ready for a fight anytime any place." I say out loud hinting that I can still hear them.
"So you are a mind reader like me!" she says, growing a smile on her face.
"Not only that but a master at pokemon battles though where i come from thats not a good thing." I tell her as I think about how much of a loser I would have been if I told someone that when I was human. After a bit of walking I noticed a green dragon following us a bit ways back but I couldn't hear his thoughts which made it obvious who it was. "Turtle stop following so far back dude come on and join us." I tell him as he rounds the corner starting to walk faster.
"How did you know I was there?" he asks.
"Simple, I could not read anyones mind but Moon's even though I could hear footsteps behind us. And i saw you about 4 times" i tell Turtle not realizing that i revealed im a mind reader.
"But nightwings dont have powers anymore right?" Turtle asks Moon as she goes into a statue like state.
"Nope none at all." she finally replies.
"Turtle I'm off so unless you need me I'm going to sleep before I don't wake up tomorrow." I say as I walk into my cave.
After arriving in my cave the others had walked off talking about something I could care less about. I had found a high ledge and sat on top of it as thoughts of home went through my head. "How is mom doing and does anyone even know I'm gone?" But most importantly it was "why do i still remember everything?" And "could I use this to improve the story or change it in a massive way?" all these thoughts till i had a vision appear in my head of scarlet who still had her marks from Glory's venom.
"You help me take back my throne! you were my attendant and script writer of the arena fights after all." I hear in a low monotone voice slowly getting louder.
"Nope not going to help you leave me out of your problem Scarlet. Plus i don't even know what i did that old nightwing is gone now a whole new soul in his place. Your scribe is dead and soon you will be as well so leave me alone you old hag." I say to her in this half dream state. After that I slept till morning and remembered something about this place and why it was normal to me at first. I had been like this before in a small place with annoying neighbors and an old woman yelling at me at night. It was way too much like home where I had my own Apartment with a bad landlord. The only thing missing was a job that was an hour away.
"Starshot you are due to leave at 10 so get ready!" Clay shouts as Winter walks in the cave behind him.
"Get up, nightwing, we have to do this quickly before I kill you out of annoyance." he says with the same confidence as yesterday.
"Shut up before your family comes for your 7th ring." I say back forgetting what I said as I woke up.
"How dare you!" Winter shouts charging into the room.
"BOYS!" Clay shouts before he can do anything. "Clearly I can't trust you to work together so You ,Quilbi, and Kinkajou can go do it." he says, talking to me. "Winter you are off picking up herbs for medicine." he says, sending Winter out of the cave to go do his task immediately.
"Great Quilbi, my favorite shoehorn of a sandwing." I think to myself as the dragon about my size leaves the room.
"Well get up cause we are leaving at 5!" I heard Quilbi say as he entered the room after following Winter's shouts.
"Fine, let's get Kinkajou and some food then we can go." I tell him as I walk out the door slowly.
After grabbing Kinkajou and starting off on our adventure to the rainforest home of the rainwings and nightwings. "Hopefully I can find out who I am as a dragon." I think to myself as we fly down to meet the ground. "Why did we stop?" I ask Quilbi as he gets a grin on his face.
"Starshot if you could beat Clay's Rhyhorn then letts battle real quick!" he says in an upbeat voice.
"Sure i guess. Kinkajou want to referee?" I ask as she waves no and lays down.
"I'm tired so wake me when it's over." she says as she falls asleep.
"Rainwing, am I right?" Quilbi says as both of us look at him with an unamused look "noted."
"Now you throw out your first pokemon." i asy as I prepared my first choice.
"Sandile go!" he shouts as I throw my choice.
"Dreepy go!" I shout as he hits the field. i call out to it. "Infestation go!"
"Dreeeee!" it called out as it caused some bugs to start biting on Sandile's feet.
"Super Effective!" the dex shouts in my ear.
"Sandile use Hone Claws!" Quilbi calls as Sandile starts to sharpen its claws.
"Dreepy Quick Attack!" i shout as Dreepy blitzes his target.
"Sandile counter attack with Bite!" Quilbi shouts as sandime bites on Dreepy's tail and throws it against a tree and on Kinkajou's sleeping body.
"You sleep, bud. Larvitar get out there and attack with Stomping Tantrum!" I command as Larvitar appears and attacks almost instantly.
"Sandile No!" Quilbi says as it faints from being stomped on "Skorupi go and avenge Sandile with Poison Sting." she shouts as Skorupi shoots out poison needles from its mouth.
""Larvitar you ok?" I ask as he gives a nod back. "Good now counter with a Rock Slide!" as i say that larvitar sends boulders crushing skorupi it barely being able to stand after.
"Super Effective!" I heard the pokedex say.
"Skorupi can you fight?" Quilbi asks as it stands back up ready to attack. "Good Poison Fang!"
"Larvitar match it with Bite!" I say as both pokemon charge at each other with Larvitar getting hit then hitting his attack.
"Skor Skorupi." Skorupi says as it falls unconscious as I take back Larvitar and Dreepy for some needed rest.
"Good battle now lets wait for her to wake up then we can get going." Quilbi said with a smile on his face.
"Sure now i'll go out looking for herbs to make potions." I say walking off into the forest.
