"This is your last chance to back down. I won't warn you again."

"Ha ha ha, if anyone here needs to back down, it's you. However, it's a bit too late for that."

The creature shot out its long tentacle-like arms extremely fast. The second before the man was hit with them, the scene paused.

"Will our hero be able to stop the mighty alien Conyard, or will he fall into his trap? Find out next week!"

As the credits began to play on the screen, XJ9 let out a sigh of disappointment. She couldn't believe that it stopped there, how cruel. The other monitors flipped through the world, while her special one was playing something else random like usual. Tonight an episode of a cartoon, she thinks that's what it's called, was playing, and she had found herself quickly invested in it. Granted, she had no idea what was going on, really, but it was still delightful.

Sadly, she knew that she needed to stop watching before she stayed up too late again and turned the volume off before getting up. She stretched a little bit and walked over to her bed to plop down onto it. A mute squeak yelped out from underneath her and rolled over to fish under her covers for it. With her ducky secured now, she got under the covers herself and squeaked it quietly. The little sounds brought her so much joy to hear, and she giggled to herself.

After playing with it for a few more minutes, she set it down beside her and curled up. She looked up through her windows and was disappointed not to be able to see any stars. It seemed like tonight, the clouds had decided to come out and mess up her view of the sky. She would be upset but the loud yawn that came out of her mouth indicated that she was too sleepy to be upset. She made sure she was plugged in before she passed out and let the darkness seep in.

Now, she wasn't sure what exactly had woke her up, but whatever it was, it made her shoot straight up in her bed. All of her body was suddenly tense, and her eyes darted around as fast as possible. She didn't know what she was looking for, but something told her to keep an eye out. She gripped her blanket hard and pulled it to her chin to cover the rest of her body as she peeked out over it. It was quiet, too quiet. Suddenly a quick flash of it appeared over her, and a loud booming sound followed it.

It made her shake, and her eyes quickly tried to find where the flash had come from. The outside world was completely black, and for a second, she thought she had closed her eyes. However, the little glow from her monitors showed her otherwise. XJ9 nervously stood up from her bed and walked closer towards her windows. Oh man, this couldn't be good, right? She pulled her blanket along with her as she stepped closer to them. What if it was that alien thing from the show? Then what was she going to do?

It seems she didn't have to think much about it, as her arm immediately shifted into her blaster and began to charge up a shot. She slowly stepped closer and stared out into the darkness. Suddenly a burst of light struck across the sky, and a loud thunderous roar echoed after it. She jumped at the sound and nearly pulled the trigger. Her eyes scanned the scene, and her mind raced to connect the dots by taking the images in her head to the internet to search for similar situations. As all the words scrolled through her head, she tried not to get a headache.

A little ding went off in her head a second later, and many pictures of the same dark sky filled her head. It seemed that the 'thunder' and 'lightning' had decided to visit her tonight. A little pit-pat sound caught her attention, and she tensely looked up at her windows. Another little pit-pat on her window came back as the water started to pour on down. The 'rain' hit her windows, and the drops ran down the glass. She slowly put her blaster away as her eyes traced the little rain tracks.

The thunder drummed out a little quieter than before, and the next flash of lightning seemed to be a little calmer. The rain was hard, but she wouldn't say harsh like the other sounds and sights. It was peaceful, really. Knowing what was going on and the rain sound calming her, XJ9 walked back over to her bed and tucked herself in. The lighting shot out across the sky, and it made her jump a little. The lightning lit up the sky once more, and she watched it for the second she could.

There was something about it all that drew her attention. The thunder was loud, and it shook across the sky as the lightning raced on by. The rain fell and played its song as it tapped against her windows. She felt her eyes growing heavier as she watched it. As she started to drift off and the lighting raced as the thunder rang out, she couldn't help but feel sad. Perhaps sad wasn't the word for it; no, this was something else. She wanted to jump out of her window and chase that lighting. She wanted to shoot across the sky like the man on the tv had done amongst the clouds.

She wanted to fly and scream and bang her fists on the clouds as the thunder did. Yeah, just like that and like the thunder, people would hear her. The Skyway Patrol officers would listen to her alright; they would hear her and see her dash off and be mind blown. She sleepy smiled at the thought they would see her, and they would stop being mean and calling her a robot. She'd be loud and fast to them but friendly and good like the raindrops falling onto her house. Yeah, she'd be very good so her mom would be happy. A new feeling set onto XJ9 as her eyes drifted close, a new sense really, a sense of 'longing' fell upon her like the rain on her home.
