A/N: This is a poem based loosely on the Harry Potter Universe and Severus Snape. Really it could be any death eater, whose life has been turned into a heap of lifeless rock by Voldemort. It has some HBP 'spoilers'... but it's not clearly stated. Hope you enjoy! And as always, reviews are very much welcome. I don't accept flames... but truthful criticism is great!

Disclaimer: Though nothing is clearly stated, J.K.Rowling owns the HP series, Warner Brothers owns the movies... and I, sadly, own nothing.

Unrelenting Blackness

Slowly, cold and hollow hearts close all memories.
Stones replace muscle where love should be.
All feelings, emotions suppressed by weight of guilt,
Produce oily regret that seeps from every gash
Cut by harsh and hasty words of hate and burning rage.

Helplessly lost, clinging to many mortal things;
Anger welling from the holes of stony, earthen heart.
Fighting desperately with a master, unmerciful;
Every hope, light, and good thing choked by
Unrelenting blackness and sickening green light.

Sorrow escaping and taking flight,
In form of unshed tears and shaking hands.
Quivering innards spill blank words and regret,
Meaningless in the face of pleading, gaping death
Whose only joy is pure destruction.

Face dusted, speckled with age and that oily regret.
Pitfall eyes sting with memories of hatred
And cloaking murder that blinds all but the dead.
Ripping pain as the stony soul is torn
Into two un-whole pieces of raw bleeding meat.

Where blood should run, ice now charges on,
Pulling heat from every fold of living flesh.
Through dark and deadly woods, convicts rage
Guided by a burning scar that refuses to heal
Unrelenting blackness and sickening green light.
