Author's Note from Mat49324: It's been quite a while since I did a TS one-shot. I guess this cold weather (at least by Hawaii standards) gave me a bit of an idea. For the 19th time, I'm writing a TS one-shot on Fanfiction, but this will be only the 2nd time that the setting is the spies' beach house. The one and only time I did that was the one-shot, All Washed Up. In that one, the spies go through a car wash that turns out to be too much fun – at least for them anyway. This time, we'll be dealing with keeping warm in rather Christmas-like weather. For now, here's The Blue Time Ranger if there's anything he'd like to say.

Author's Note from The Blue Time Ranger: It's definitely getting colder in my neck of the woods, so what better way to stay toasty than with another one-shot? Let's get to that, shall we? ROLL IT!

Title: A Way to Keep Warm

11:51 A.M. – The Spies' Beach House

It was another normal day at the spies' beach house. The sun wasn't out, and Mat was in the den having just finished eating a bowl of soup. He was sitting on the couch trying to watch a little bit of TV, and had a small blanket over his knees and a cushion on his feet.

"Geez, 68 degrees today and I'm still a little cold," Mat groaned to himself.

"Dude, you okay?" Nick wondered, coming into the den.

"I guess I'm still not used to this cold in Beverly Hills," Mat replied, trying to get a laugh out of things.

"You do realize I dealt with a blizzard or two, eh?" Nick stated.

"Yeah, I get it," Mat told him. "But I also hope you remember that any temperature under 70 would be considered 'cold' by Hawaii standards?"

"My mom was the same way," Nick admitted. "That's one of the things I kinda had to adjust to myself when we moved here."

"I'm hoping it warms up a little bit later today though," Mat replied.

"It's not that bad out there today, honestly," Nick quipped. "But for our sake, hopefully it warms up later."

"Yeah, I hope so," Mat replied.

Nick looked at what Mat was watching, and as luck would have it, it was one of Mat's old Motocross races.

"Unadilla 2001," Mat told him.

"That's pretty old," Nick commented as he got a look at what race was going on.

"Can't beat the classics, though," Mat pointed out and Nick immediately thought of Sam's classic green swimsuit that Mat liked so much.

It was the final lap of the second 125cc moto, which was led by defending champ Travis Pastrana on his #1 Suzuki RM125. Calling the race were Art Eckman, former champ David Bailey, and pit reporter Davey Coombs.

Currently, there was a recap of what happened during the 2000 125cc Motocross season until...

Art: ...not let [Stephane] Roncada get that 50-point-lead... OHH! PASTRANA WENT DOWN HARD!

Pastrana was still on the ground, completely stunned and woozy.

"Ouch," Nick quipped. "I felt that one."

Art (continued): Can he get back up in time? That's not the new leader – there's the new leader! [Grant] Langston, ON THE LAST LAP!

"That right there was the final straw of Pastrana's racing career," Mat explained. "Travis never won again after that."

Nick nodded, remembering how that season turned out.

David: That looked scary, Art.

Art: It does.

David: He hit his head hard! It was just a last minute... as soon as he touched the ground, the front wheel twitched and BAM! He hit his head hard. He's gonna get no points. He'll get what he's lapped up to, if that's gonna put him in the points this moto.

KTM's Langston won the moto and the overall – his 3rd win of the 2001 season.

After Langston's winner interview, there was a clip of Pastrana finishing the last lap – even with Travis wheelieing up one of the many Unadilla hills. Pastrana was credited with a 22nd place finish in the second moto, and listed as 6th place overall thanks to the moto 1 win.

Nick declined to watch the rest of the broadcast and got a bottle of soda before going away upstairs, and Mat didn't get a chance to watch the final 250cc moto of the day. Sam had come downstairs and saw her steady boyfriend.

"You okay, hon?" Sam wondered.

Mat looked and saw that Sam was decked in her red and white tie-on bikini; he was a little surprised.

"Yeah, I'm... okay," Mat stuttered. "How can you wear a bikini in this weather, though?!"

"We've probably done it more often, so we're used to it," Sam answered. "And I'm sure it's gonna get warmer as the day goes on, too."

That was when Sam approached him and helped Mat to his feet.

"Babe, where're you going?" Mat wondered.

"I was gonna take a dip in the jacuzzi outside," Sam answered. "Why don't you come with me?"

"In this weather?" Mat asked, acting like he didn't want to go outside.

"I'll keep ya warm," Sam giggled.

Mat eventually agreed and used his DS to change to his swim shorts. That was when Sam took his hand and escorted Mat outside; he looked to see Nick giving him a thumbs-up over this turn of events.

Mat flashed a thumbs-up in return as he and Sam headed to the jacuzzi.

Nick walked back outside and looked up at the clouds, wondering where the heck the sun was.

"Sun, sun, where did you scoot off to?" Nick quipped, reciting an old phrase he'd often said as a child when the clouds blocked out the sun.

"Tell me about it."

"Oh, you feel the same way I do, May?" Nick laughed as May walked up to the beach house.

"Hey, if you remember correctly, Nick, I was always the one who believed that someone was sad when it was cloudy," May giggled. "Kid stuff, don'tcha know."

"No kidding," Nick replied.

"So, what's up with all of you on this cloudy day?" May asked.

"We're just relaxing, really," Nick answered. "I was just about to hit the pool myself. If you wanna join us..."

"Ah, say no more!" May laughed. "Let me just head inside and go get changed, 'kay? Since I don't have a quick-change button like you guys."

May dashed upstairs to change into her swimsuit just as Alex came down the stairs in her classic yellow two-piece.

"Someone's eager, huh?" Alex giggled.

"May lacks the 'quick-change button' we do, her words," Nick laughed.

Nick and Alex made their way to the pool, happy that the weather was still nice despite the clouds that were out and about today.

"Ah, this is definitely the life, huh?" Alex stated.

"I concur on that," Nick answered.

"And look at those two," Alex chuckled when she noticed Sam and Mat in the jacuzzi. "They're not wasting any time."

"Mat's still kinda not used to Beverly Hills' different climate," Nick replied. "You know, the whole 'anything below 70 is cold to me' thing."

"Ah, I get it," Alex quipped.

Suddenly, Nick heard rapid footsteps from just out of sight.

"Um, what was that?" Alex wondered.

Nick suddenly tensed up, remembering this old habit of May's.

"Oh, I seriously hope she isn't..." Nick stated.

Nick's worries were confirmed when May rushed down the stairs, decked in a two-piece orange swimsuit, turned the corner into the pool, and leaped.

"PIRATE DIVE!" May shouted as she cannonballed into the pool, unfortunately landing directly on top of Nick in the process.

Once Nick was able to surface, he mentally cursed himself for not seeing that coming, same as always.

"Still couldn't see that coming, huh, Nick?" May teased...

...only to find herself getting dunked by Alex.

"Oh, it's on now, May," Alex proclaimed. "Nobody dunks my boyfriend but me!"

"Oh, if it's a water war you want, Alex, then it's a water war you shall get!" May shouted in dramatic fashion.

With that, May started to give waves to Alex, much to the humor of Nick. Mat and Sam were taking in the sights from the jacuzzi, and holding each other, too.

Clover and Britney seemed to know what was going on because they came out in bikinis of their own and jumped in the pool, too. After resurfacing, Clover looked and saw the romance going around.

"Too bad Blaine-y's not with me today," Clover groaned, knowing Blaine was away at a volleyball practice.

"And I'm still on the market, technically," Britney quipped. "Though occasionally I do see Mat on the side."

Britney was thankful Sam was willing to share Mat with her. Nick and everyone else didn't tease or bother them.

Meanwhile, Mat and Sam were having a good time getting cuddly in the jacuzzi.

"Oh my gosh," Mat sighed. "I don't think I want to come out of this jacuzzi now."

Sam giggled at his reaction.

"Thanks for the offer, Sammy," Mat replied as he hugged her.

"Oh, anytime, my love," Sam quipped.

Mat kissed her on the cheek, which Sam liked... until she felt Mat try to brush her bikini top down.

"Ah, ah, ah," Sam requested, pulling her right shoulder strap back up.

"Okay, sorry," Mat replied, being very understanding over it.

Sam let it go, and Mat, being a gentleman, didn't try that move again.

"You wanna join them after a little while?" Sam asked her boyfriend.

"Yeah, sure," Mat answered.

"We don't want to spend too long in here," Sam pointed out. "But I certainly hope you're warmed up, hon?"

"I am," Mat told her. "Thanks to you, babe."

The two shared a kiss.

May could see Mat and Sam locking lips from her spot in the pool.

"Get it while you're young," May giggled to herself.

Clover had an inquisitive smile on her face at seeing that.

"Apparently Mat is still getting used to Beverly Hills weather," Nick told Clover.

"I still remember he said any temp under 70 is cold to him," Alex laughed.

"Well, he does deserve a break since Hawaii reportedly doesn't get any snow," May commented.

"True," Britney quipped.

"Only the super high-up mountains would probably get anything noticeable," Nick replied.

Meanwhile...

"I think we should join them now," Sam told Mat.

"Yeah, okay," Mat agreed.

That was when Clover looked over to see Sam doing an old move on a prior mission. She had lifted herself out of the jacuzzi and did a gymnastic front-flip into the pool. (A/N: Remember S2's Mummy?)

"I remember that move," Clover laughed as Sam resurfaced.

Sam giggled and waved an arm at Mat to come join. He didn't do the same thing as Sam, but he did splash in the pool.

May decided she wanted to be sneaky and stealthily swam towards Sam, only for Nick to dive underwater and pull her back by the legs.

"I wouldn't try that if I were you, May," Nick teased. "I tried that on her once, and I paid for it. She's too tricky sometimes."

"Oh, what, you mean this?" Sam laughed as she jumped over Nick to do a handstand on his shoulders that pushed him underwater in the process.

"Yeah, that, basically," Clover laughed.

Nick sputtered slightly after resurfacing.

"You totally stole that from Haruka," Nick quipped, referencing the last time Haruka had come to Beverly Hills.

"Maybe," Sam giggled.

"Well, hope you like some retaliation!" Nick exclaimed as he prepared to splash Sam with a big wave, only to be drenched by a wave himself, courtesy of Mat.

"Sorry, did I do that?" Mat chuckled.

"You're not sorry," Alex laughed.

Nick just smirked and dove underwater to try a sneak attack, but was intercepted by Clover, of all people, waving her finger like a certain famous hedgehog before surfacing.

"Keep trying, Nick," Clover giggled.

"Why, you...!" Nick sputtered as he lunged towards Clover.

And so, another glorious water battle ensued. The spies were really just glad to have any excuse to relax.
