Artemis Crock has just come back home from training with Cissie and Olivier, exhausted and all sweaty. Since Will and Lian are in Gotham visiting Paula Crock for the weekend, Artemis had the entire house all for herself. She didn't want to spend the night alone, so she called her friends to ask if anyone wants to come over. Megan busy with the Team, Raquel busy with her son, Dick said something about playtime with Babs he promised her (Arty didn't even want to ask him what the hell that was supposed to mean). There was one person she didn't call.

"She said something about helping that guy last time we spoke... I can't remember what his name is. The only thing I remember was how angry Zee was at him for screwing up the last time when they worked together."

To call or not to call, maybe Zee was free tonight, or she was glaring at some idiot and losing her mind.

"Fuck it. I'll call her and ask."

Artemis took her phone and found Zatana's number in contacts. Unfortunately, the young magician couldn't pick up.

"Great, so I guess I'll spend the night all by myself after all."

As the blonde put her phone on a table, it started ringing. Artemis couldn't help but smile when she saw the caller's ID.

"Hey, sorry for not picking up earlier. I needed to finish something... Is everything alright Art?" Zatanna said little out of breath.

"Yeah, everything is alright. I just wanted to ask if you would like to spend the night with me (wait...oh crap) y-you know like old times, watch some stupid movie, talk all night. (saved it)"

Zee giggled at her friend's response.

"Wow, maybe buy me dinner first. Just because I said that I love you doesn't mean you don't need to try harder." The young archer blushed and quickly replied.

"Very funny Zee. But for real, I'm all alone and need some company." Artemis said, trying to calm herself.

"Give me about thirty to forty minutes. Do you want me to buy some snacks? Ice cream? Roses??" Zatanna said, lowering her tone at last suggestion.

"You can bring ice cream if you want, and stop with that."

"With what, babe?"

"That. Stop it"

"Fine... No roses for you..." Artemis hung up and hid her red face in her hands. She only glanced at her phone when it vibrated, letting her know about a message she received from Zatanna.

" ( ͡ ͜ʖ ͡) "

"I hate her..."

Artemis spend thirty minutes preparing the living room for her "movie night" with Zatanna. She put all of the pillows and blankets on the sofa, made popcorn and ordered Zee's favourite pizza. Her friend should be here any minutes now, so she should be relaxed right?

"Why I'm so stressed out... It's just Zatanna..."

"ARTY!!!" Zatanna yelled after she appeared behind Artemis from nowhere, scaring the living shit out of her friend.

"JESUS!! STOP IT ALREADY!!" Zatanna smirked and put her thing on the chair, which was next to the table.

"Artemis, I do that for seven years and you still haven't learnt that I won't stop."

"Why are you doing that??? Like to see me jump out of my skin?" Artemis said, throwing a pillow at the magician, who caught it and placed it on the table.

"No, of course not Arty. I just like to make you scream." Zatanna said and winked at Artemis, whose face was as red as the tomato.

Artemis didn't reply and went to the TV to find a movie for them to watch. Zatanna rolled her eyes with a smile and scanned the room for Brucely.

"Where's Brucely? Is he torturing some squirrels in the backyard again?"

Artemis laughed and said that her dog was in Gotham with Will and Lian. The archer was still looking for a movie to watch while Zatanna changed into her PJ's and sat on the sofa, taking all blankets to herself.

"What were you doing before I called? You sounded like you've just run a marathon." Artemis asked while setting up the movie. Zatanna sighed.

"John and I were fighting some demons in London. He told me we would come across some 'weak' demons, but well, he forgot to tell me how powerful these were. Asshole..."

"Sounds like you don't like the guy much, so why help him?" Artemis asked, sitting next to Zatanna.

"I don't know why. Guess I'm too good for people."

"(That you are...) You know that I can help if you need me right? After all, you're my best friend...and I still owe you after what you did for me on valentine's day..."

Zatanna turned her head from the archer and whispered "right" under her nose. This reaction surprised Artemis, but she didn't think much of it.

They were watching the movie, cuddling on the sofa as they used to when they were younger. Megan and Dick would make jokes about them behaving like a couple or Artemis cheating on Wally with Zatanna. These were the good times, where everyone was happy and Mount Justice was their home. Artemis felt Zatanna's head moving on her chest as the magician was making herself comfortable.

"Don't tell me you're going to sleep Zee, it's only 10 p.m." Zatanna mumbled something Artemis couldn't understand and covered herself with a second blanket. Artemis smirked and took the blanket off her friend.

"Oh no, you don't. Wake up, woman."

"Get back here...You were a good pillow..." Zatanna said with closed eyes.

"Oh, I'm gonna wake you up."

Artemis went to the kitchen and poured some cold water into a glass. When she came to where Zatanna was sleeping, she spilt water on the magician, which woke the younger woman up. Zatanna jumped from the sofa and landed on the floor.

"Damn it!"

"You deserved it." Zatanna stood up, whispering under her nose again, but this time Artemis didn't hear her.

"What did you say?" Artemis asked.

"Nothing..." The archer came up to Zatanna and glared at her.

"What's up with you? It's the second time you whisper under your nose." Artemis said, crossing her arms on her chest.

Zatanna was quiet. She knew that she would feel guilty while spending time with Artemis. She lied to her best friend, who was her first love too, but what was she supposed to do? She couldn't watch Artemis, standing with tears in her eyes, asking her, begging... to bring Wally back.

"It's nothing, Artemis, just drop it."

"No, I won't drop it. Is something wrong? You know you can tell me...right?" Artemis said, taking Zatanna's hand in hers.

"I can't..." Zee tried avoiding Artemis' eyes. She knew the archer could read her like an open book. Arty placed her hand on Zatanna's cheek and tightened her grip on Zee's hand.

"Zatanna, please... I'm worried about you..."

"You shouldn't be worried about me... I'm a bad friend..." Artemis couldn't help but chuckle at her friend's reply.

"Are you for real? Zee, you've been there for me even before you joined the team. You always bring a smile to my face. Even when Wally died, you were the only person who could make me crack a smile or calm me down. You helped me to move on, to say goodbye to him..."

"It-It wasn't him Artemis..." Zatanna didn't look at Artemis saying those words. She couldn't. The only thing she could look at was her tear that dropped to the floor.

Artemis was speechless. She stood there with wide eyes, looking at Zatanna.

"What do you mean?" She said those words fast, without thinking.

"When you called me that night, I knew what you wanted me to do, so I asked Megan for help...All of the things that happened there were just your imagination...I'm sorry, Artemis, so sorry..."

Artemis felt like a truck hit her, a truck full of lies and betrayal. Her legs were weak, and the room was spinning. The only thing she could think of was

" Why..."

"How could you... I put my trust in you...Why..."

Zatanna grabbed Artemis by her shoulders.

"I did it b-because I love you, Artemis. I always have. I couldn't watch you, crying over him for the rest of your life-"

"So it was better to lie straight to my face!" Artemis said, taking Zatanna's hands off her shoulders.

"Please, Artemis, forgive me. We only wanted to help you!"

"I don't want to hear any of this... Get out, now..."

"Please-"

"Now!"

Zatanna didn't try to reason with Artemis while she was in this condition, so she used her magic to get back to Shadowcrest.

Months go by, and Artemis still can't even look at Zatanna when she appears on the news fighting with other leaguers. She took a break from the team to not look at Megan too. Raquel messaged her after she discovered that Artemis knows about their friend's lie. Raquel said she had no idea what they were going to do. Artemis believed her but still didn't want to talk to her. She closed herself in her room, away from everybody, as she did after Wally's death, but this time was different. She didn't mourn after the man she loved. She mourned after the woman she loved. The woman who was always there when she needed her. The woman she started to have feelings for. After that valentine's day, Artemis took Wally's-well her imagination's- words to heart. She didn't consider Will, because first, it was too weird and out of place, and second she had another person in her mind. The person who was very dear to her heart. She had Zatanna on her mind... Even when they were younger, she had dreams about the magician, which in a way scared her, but gave her butterflies at the same time. These feelings didn't change when she was dating Wally. She doesn't know how is that possible, maybe she didn't love Wally this much after all... Maybe, just maybe, she loved the idea of having a normal life like every other girl.

Zatanna talked to Will every day, to know how Artemis was doing. She didn't stop texting Artemis, but the archer only read the messages, never replied. The magician tried to focus on her work, catching criminals and helping the League. She heard "I told you it would end up like that" from Raquel. Heard "We really shouldn't have done this" from Megan. All she wanted to do, was to go back in time, but her powers have limits. She tried talking with Canary. It helped a little. Tried to focus on her Protégé, but Traci could feel her mentor wasn't behaving like she used to.

All she wanted was a call from Artemis, even if the only words she would hear were "I hate you".

Artemis was asked by Supergirl to guard Lena Luthor aka Kara's girlfriend while Kara was going make a attempt to knock some sense into Superman's thick skull about Connor. Wanting a chance to avoid the others especially Zatanna, Artemis agreed. Now in Lena's office Artemis try to get her mind off the magician who lied to her.

"May I ask what is the matter?" Asked Lena looking up from her desk. "Because you seem very broken up about something that's making you not focus." Artemis wanted to say it was nothing but decided that Lena was neutral person.

"A person I love lied and betrayed me." Said Artemis looking at the floor. "About?" Asked Lena. "She said she'll would help me reunite with the man I lost and I thought she did. I was able to make peace with his death. But it was a lie, because she said she love me." Artemis voice turn angry. "But you don't lie to someone to make them feel better because it's fake it..."

"Are your feelings for her fake?" Asked Lena getting up and moving to sit on the couch across from the archer.

"I know exactly what your going through because it happened to me and Kara." Lena look out the window. "When I found out who she really was and that she lied to me, I didn't handle it well. And the thing to stop the hate was for Kara offering a Kryptonite dagger out for me to stab her." Artemis eyes went wide after a long silence where Lena whipped some tears away then continued. "And I realized that I love her more then I hate her and can't live without her…" A small smile appeared on Lena lips.

"And I'm glad I made the choice to forgive my Kara and move forward with her into our future." Lena look at Artemis. "Are you going do the same with Her as well?" Artemis was silent as she thought about what Lena had said.

Then came the invasion. (The aliens are the ones from the Failsafe episode but are real. In this the team never did the mind simulation.) Many heroes and villains had already been killed and the remainder were taking a last stand. Artemis and Zatanna were literally fighting back to back but they both knew they were dead. Zatanna look at the Archer.

"Artemis I'm sor- mmmmhhhh!!" Artemis silence her by pulling Zatanna to her and locking lips with her. "I forgive." Said Artemis. "Now shut up and kiss me." Zatanna didn't hesitate as the aliens aimed their weapons on the ladies. The two kissed with all the love they had for each other as the aliens fired. Both about to die with the one they loved.

Then everything froze and the only thing moving was a cloaked figure walking through the carnage. The figured stop in front of the kissing girls the death beams about to hit them. "These are worthy." The cloak figure snap his fingers and the archer and magician disappear.

Artemis open her eyes finding herself, still holding Zatanna to her and still kissing. The two separated their lips but keep holding each other. "If we're still alive and if we are going make us work. No more mind stunts. Deal!" Zatanna then spoke backward. "I evig ym drow." Which Artemis knew was "I give my word." And was binding. Then Z said. "I evol uoy Artemis." Artemis smiled. "You didn't need to say that backward. But I evol uoy too." They shared a quick kiss. "Now where are we?" They look around and found themselves standing on a strange building where the were on the side and should be falling due to gravity. "The Tower of Fate?"

"No I'm sensing different magic here I never sense before." Said Zatanna then nearby a strange portal hiss open and two figures stepped through. (To save describing it Lana and the Ancient One.)

"Welcome to Battleworld. I am the Ancient One, Headmaster of the Temple of the Vishanti." Artemis and Zatanna look at each in confusion. "I'm Lana. We know your among those chosen that are not a threat. And you are confused." Said Lana. "Right now I'm feeling Vertigo." Said Artemis. "Understandable." Said Lana looking at her teacher. "With your permission master. I can take them to the Thermopylae." The Ancient One simply nodded. "I will await for Zatanna to come to class afterwards." Before going through the portal he came from which closed behind him.

"Class?" Asked Zatanna. "Here we teach magic and it will be good for you to learn new forms of magic and how to use magical items like Sling Rings." Said Lana showing the ring and opening another. "But he sounded like it wasn't a choice?" Said Artemis. Lana smiled. "No he know because the Time Stone on his face showed him you'll be coming to learn. Now shall we?" After a moment of hesitation Zatanna and Artemis followed Lana through the portal.

"Artemis, Zatanna!" Came a very familiar voice and looking the two saw Megan, Connor and a green skin girl looking just like Megan coming towards them. "Megan!" Said Zatanna. "Connor!" Said Artemis. There were hugs between friends especially with Connor to his surprise.

"How are you alive Connor?" Asked Artemis which cause the others except for Zatanna to look confused. Lana then spoke up. "Keep this in mind. While some of those chosen may come from different reality and May come from very similar earths of the same reality. You may come from either alternate timeline or versions of that earth where something changed or not in the other."

"So on your earth Connor died?" Said Connor. Zatanna and Artemis nodded. "You died stopping a bomb Megan brother planted that supposedly would kill all green and red martians leaving only the white martians alive to rule Mars. The Bastard!"

"So that what is was Ma'alefa'ak did!" Growled Conner clenching his fists. "We were on Mars when something started killing all Martians of all colors. Even effecting…" Connor stopped and Megan eyes began to water. "Gar is…" Zatanna could finished. Then another familiar voice spoke up. "I'm what!" Turning they saw Beast Boy with a Raven hair girl coming through another portal. "Hey sis good to se- ooofff!" Gar was cut off by Megan tackling him.

"Well she happy to see you." Said the girl. "No kidding." Said Beast Boy hugging his sister. "So I don't know who you are but nice to met you?" Said Connor holding out his hand. The girl look at the hand for a second then got hug Connor instead. "There no handshake between family members."

"Hon perhaps you should tell them your name?" Said Beast Boy managing to sit up.

"My name is Racheal Logan but I go by Raven. Me and my husband are members of our world Titans." Said the girl before looking at the green skin girl.

"Em'ree love the new look sister." Artemis and Zatanna look at Em'ree. "Uh… Call me Emma. And it's a pleasure to me you, all of you and knowing we have friends in this new world."

"There going be a lot to get use to. But what ever comes next." Said Artemis taking Zatanna hand in hers. Zatanna smiled at her new girlfriend and Artemis pulled the magician into another kiss making their friends look at them with surprise.
