Chapter Eighteen
Our goodbye to the community of Dantoo Town was bittersweet. We had come to consider the people here an extension of our family and the village a second home. Obi-Wan and I both promised to return to visit soon.
Dela cried as she kissed Leia's little face over and over. The two had grown close and we had come to think of her as our little girl's grandmother. It would be most difficult to leave her and I appreciated all of her help. I told her so, embracing her last.
A transport was waiting for us and we had packed all of our belongings into it, Leia's things taking up most of the space.
The plan was to return to Coruscant to try and repair the damage done by the Chancellor. Hopefully, the Republic could be restored as well as the Jedi. I would try to be their voice and regain the trust of its citizens.
"With the absence of the Chancellor, they'll need a leader," Obi-Wan had slyly suggested.
The thought had crossed my mind, but after hearing what Leia had done to Palpatine, I decided to retire from politics and focus upon her. Perhaps with my attention as well as her father's and Master Yoda's, we could keep her in the light.
During our journey back to the Core, I listened to the Jedi discuss and debate her abilities and what to do with her. There were concerns as well as praises. I was on the concerned side. I worried that with the wrong influences, she could become someone quite dangerous.
At the moment, she was sleeping in her father's arms, oblivious to the worries surrounding her and possibly to the serious nature of her abilities. At the moment, she was a sweet and innocent curly-haired angel without a care in the galaxy.
Time would define her fate, though no matter what, we would love her the best we could and cherish every moment we shared.
/End
A/N If I can come up with a good story idea, I'm considering continuing this story into a third, though sequels worry me. They never seem to live up to their potential. Thanks to everyone who posted reviews. Hope to see you next time!
