Ross Geller is a single father who has a daughter with his ex-wife Jessica Melnick. Jessica abandoned Emma when she was a 6 month old infant for a rich guy named Barry Farber. Rachel Green is a lonely girl who is friends with Ross's sister Monica Geller. Chandler and Ross know each other since childhood and they attended the same school along with Monica. Rachel and Monica are best friends since and Monica work in Louis Vuitton. Rachel is not Emma's biological mother.
Chapter 1
He is all over the place. Be it magazines, newspapers or stock market or news, there was this guy who was the talk of the town. It was none other than Ross Geller. He was a Harvard graduate in economics and business administration. He is currently the senior vice president of economic operations in Goldman Sachs and was one of the names being considered to become the next CEO of Goldman Sachs and other companies were also headhunting for his services. He has a net worth of 500 million dollars and yet, he was simple man with high morals and respect for others. He was married to Jessica Melnick for almost 2 years. After his daughter was born, Jessica left him for a rich doctor named Barry Farber because back then, he was not doing well as he is doing now. She abandoned Emma when she was a six month old infant. He was after all,a simple guy who saw happiness in smallest of the smallest things. That defined him from any of the men. But, in the end, he was cheated by Jessica and left in the lurch when he was going through a lot of troubles. Now, Emma was a three year old toddler who was raised by her dad and with some help of his parents, his sister and his close friends.
"Good morning princess" Ross goes near Emma's bed and pats her hair.
"Good morning daddy." Emma groggily greets her father
"What you want to do my little peanut?" Ross playfully asks her. He needed a break from work.
"Let's go to grandma and grandpa.I want to go be with them." Emma pouted.
"I can't say no to it. Well, we are going to visit them. I know you missed them." Ross agreed."If you want to visit them, better get ready."
"Okay daddy." The little girl gets off the bed and he goes into the kitchen to make some breakfast for them both.

In another apartment, who is peacefully sleeping. She is none other than Rachel Green. A few years ago, she worked with Levi's in San Francisco. But she wasn't completely satisfied with her job in San Francisco. A few years ago, she contacted her college best friend Monica Geller and since two people were living the apartment across the hall, with the help of Ross, she was able to find an apartment across the hall in his building. And with the help of Monica, she got a job in Louis Vuitton in New York and loved it.
She is suddenly woken up by the smooth jazz on the saxophone which was played somewhere.
"Ohh" Rachel groaned."Hey! can you stop your jazz." Rachel gritted teeth. She wasn't a morning person.
"Come on. Morning's here." The man hollered
"It's a Saturday." Rachel angrily shouts on him
The guy continues to play the saxophone and she just shuts her bedroom windows.

Meanwhile, Ross is preparing some breakfast for himself and Emma as he promised to be with his daughter and for that reason, he decided to take a break from work and spend time with his kid. His phone suddenly starts to ring.
"Hello?" Ross asks
"Good morning sir." Larry greeted Ross.
"Good morning Larry. What's the matter?" Ross asks him
"Sir, Mr Frank would want you to attend the meeting with Richard Kennedy sir." Larry tells him sadly
"Okay, doesn't he know that I'm taking a leave today?"Ross asks his assistant in an agitated manner.
"Sir, Mr Frank called me last night to inform you but I was outside at a family party. He says it's important." Larry tells him
"Okay fine. I'll do should have told me earlier." Ross exasperatedly tells him
"I'm sorry sir." Larry remorsefully tells him.
"Okay Larry, that's fine. "
Larry cuts the phone and Ross needs to find a way to tell Emma that they are not going to their Grandma' then, she comes towards him with her Tigger soft toy in her arms and comes near Ross.
"What happened daddy?" Emma innocently asks Ross.
"Emma, we may not be going now sweetie." Ross tells her
"Why daddy?" The three year old girl asks him
"Sweetie,I've got to go for a meeting and I am sorry that I should be going." Ross tells her remorsefully." I promised you that we'll spend most of the time with you but I have to go." Ross explains to her
"It's okay daddy. Maybe we can go some other time or tomorrow." Emma consoles her father. She loved her daddy a lot and didn't know much about her mommy as she abandoned her when she was a six month old infant.
"Thanks sweetie. Let's call your Grandpa and tell him that we are not coming."Ross tells her. "And your Aunt Monica and Uncle Chandler are in Paris. I'll ask aunt Rachel whether she can babysit you for the time being." Ross thought aloud."Until then, go do some coloring." Ross tells Emma.
"Okay daddy." The little girl replied and got into her room.

Just after a couple of moments, Ross knocks Rachel's apartment door. They both lived across the street from Monica and Chandler's apartment and they both live across the hall in the same building.
"Hey,Good Morning." Rachel greeted him while her hair was completely disheveled
"Good Morning Rachel. I need your help." Ross started."Can you take care of Emma until evening.I have a meeting with a client. See, I'd generally ask the nanny to come over but she is not in town and my parents are like in Long Island and it would take them some time to come in this traffic and if Monica is free, I'd let her babysit but she is in Paris along with Chandler. And I don't trust Joey because once he lost Emma in the bus. So would you mind taking care of her?"Ross asks her
"Gee ,calm down Ross". Rachel tries to calm him."Sure.I wouldn't mind babysitting Emma." Rachel replied with tone of ecstasy. She has an inexplicable crush on Ross since college days but she was a shy girl and she moved to San Francisco to work with Levi's and later moved back to NYC to work with Louis Vuitton along with Monica. She still harbors feelings towards him because of his humble nature, his hard working mentality and his down to earth nature. And she loved Emma even more. She knew that Emma's biological mother abandoned her when she was a six month old infant. For most starters,she shared an unexplained connection with her.
"Thanks a lot. I owe you a lot." Ross replied.
"No problem Ross. I'd be happy to help you." Rachel replied

A few moments later, Ross is ready with his suit and tie to office and Rachel comes into his apartment.
"Hi Emma." Rachel enthusiastically greets the kid
"Hi aunt Rachel." Emma greeted her
"Bye Emma, now be a good girl. Okay." Ross playfully tells her
"Don't worry Ross. I'll take care of her." Rachel reassured him.
Ross exits the apartment. A few moments later, Rachel finds Emma quietly eating her food on the kitchen island. She was a kid who bought happiness into anyone's life and Ross was an example for it. She loved being with Emma. Whenever she was with her, people used to mistake her for Emma's mother and the bond which she and Emma shared was more than that. It was maternal just like how a mother and daughter share their bond.
Rachel casually sauntered to the place where Emma was sitting. She carefully approaches the kid.
"Emma, what would you like to do today." Rachel asked with a lot of energy.
"I don't know." The kid replied
"Okay, how about we go to park. "Rachel asked her
"Okay."Emma seemed up for it.
"Good. I'll just get ready and we both will go." Rachel excitedly tells her."Now you also get ready 'lil grasshopper."

A few hours later, Emma was enjoying the swings while Rachel was watching the three year girl curiously play. She loved being with Emma and moreover and Emma loved being in her company along. As Monica always pointed out, Rachel had a maternal instinct for Emma since the day they both reunited and he was not ready to date. Rachel has a huge crush on Ross and she wished that they could be together. She hopes that one day, she would confess her feelings about him and tell him what she feels about him. She wanted to somehow tell him. It is just the beginning.
"I'm tired." Emma came to Rachel.
"Come here." Rachel opened her arms towards her and she held her. Emma put her head on her tiny shoulder and they both leave the playground.
"Aunt Rachel, can I say something?" Emma asked her
"Tell me dear?" Rachel curiously asks her
"I love you a lot." Emma declared
Rachel was feeling emotional. She wanted to cry. Those words from a three year old toddler warmed her heart. "I love you too sweetie. Whoever marries your daddy will be lucky to have you as a daughter." Rachel whispered.
