Okay before I start with the other author's note I do want to say this... the next chapter of "Agony of an Agreste" is coming. It will be called "Octoblob" named after an OC sentimonster of the same name and I am very excited to showcase the chapter. It will have the first fight scene with the new powers Cat Noir accuired and help set up the events of the next chapter. Also after posting the chapter the story will be halfway finished. The fight scene will be well thought out and make good use of the situation and the circumstances involved, so I can't wait for all of you to see the chapter and it will be out by the end of July at the latest.

So since 6 episodes Miraculous Ladybug season 4 were released on Disney Channel in English for those in the US last week I will give my thoughts/review of all of them.

Season 4 - Episode 1: Truth

Likes: The Peacock Miraculous' true camofluaged form, Shadow Moth's design and transformation, the potential storylines with Marinette as the guardian, the potential storyline of after the reveal that Jagged Stone is Luka and Juleka's father, the sunset lighting in Shadow Moth's lair, Luka resisting the akuma/amok, a good introduction to an akumatized villain and sentimonster working together. The parallel structure with both this episode and episode 2. Marinette trying to balance her responsibilites

Dislikes: Wayzz flanderization, over emphasis on Adrien obsession, Juleka flanderization, Luka being too perfect, the lack of build up for the reveal of Luka's father, Jagged's explaination for leaving his kids and wife, the plot hole were Luka still remembers his father even though he finds out via akumatization, how quickly Luka and Marinette broke up

Note: Luka for me is probably the only character in the show that people can legitimately call a Marty Stu. Even though Marinette (and for some reason Adrien) van be called a Mary/Marty Sue/Stu there are notable flaws that keep them from that label. Luka however does not have that luxury. With how patient he is to how little flaws, to making a big deal on him using a Miraculous. Even though the reveal of his father has potential for legitimate growth there was literally no build up to. This is something that should have been built up to since season 2, show how being the sole male figure in the household has taken a toll on him. Or better yet have Luka's lack of a fatherly relationship contrast with Adrien's rocky relationship with his dad. It's that simple. But like I said before the reveal does set the stage for growth, all the show needs to do is capitalize on it.

Overall rating: 5 out of 7

Season 4 - Episode 2: Lies

Likes: The parallel structure between this episode and episode 1. Seeing Cat Noir just hanging out with the civilians, more Kagami development with her love of drawing, the fact that this is an Adrien centric episode, one of the best/one of the strongest/most effective akumatized villians, how Ladybug defeated the villian.

Dislikes: How Marinette and Kagami (to a lesser degree) only like Adrien for his celebrity persona, Chloe character post season 3, how Adrien does not want to try with his relationship with Kagami

Note: Well this is the 4th episode that has Adrien as the core focus (others being Santa Claws, Gorizlla, and Felix). Seeing how this show is just entering its 4th season AND Adrien is supposed to be a co-lead alongside Marinette this is sad. Honestly even though I like Kagami better than Luka as a character I still find that Kagami relationship with Adrien was not written to be happen. Especially with Marinette not really seeing Adrien outside of the celebrity person because that is the Adrien she fell in love with. Unfortunately this episode didn't really have a big "Cat Blanc" moment aside from Kagami's love of drawing. In retrospect maybe this is because of this episode and "Truth" taking place on the same day but still. Maybe the show could have mentioned more about Kagami's past in Japan. Anyway this just shows how Adrien really needs to be utilized more as a character

Overall rating: 4 out of 7

Season 4 - Episode 3: Gang of Secrets

Likes: How it portrays Marinette as she is at a breaking point, how Shadow Moth was able to akumatize multiple people at once, seeing kwamiis use their power without holders, Alya being the first person to break free of an akuma's influence while akumatized, how Rena Rouge used her powers, Marinette telling Alya that she is Ladybug, Marinette's friendship with Alya,Juleka, Rose, Mylene, and Alix

Dislikes: The same akumatized forms being used for Alya, Mylene, Rose, Juleka, and Alix, Cat Noir being useless, How Marinette not putting the Miracle Box inside the password activate box beforehand, Marinette telling her identity to Alya before Cat Noir

Note: So when I first saw the end of Gang of Secrets when Marinette told Alya she was Ladybug I was very exciting seeing where this will go. However after seeing the later episode of season 4, especially the mid-season finale (which I will not spoil), it was clear Alya was going to take the place of Adrien/Cat Noir. This is especially bad as Alya can use her Miraculous again after the events of the season 3 finale (which Gabriel remembers in the mid season finale) in where her identity is revealed. So before the events of Miracle Queen what was Ladybug's excuse for not giving Chloe the Bee Miraculous. And of course if you are going to let users who's identities are exposed use Miraculouses again AT LEAST give them new ones instead of the old ones. Also by the following episode there should no reason for Cat Noir and Ladybug not to know each other's identities. At least this time I will give it somewhat of a pass due to Alya being the only person AT THE TIME, who can be trusted with secret.

Overall rating: 6 out of 7

Season 4 - Episode 4: Mr. Pigeon 72

Likes: The existence of the Magical Charm, Ladybug's new outfit, Alya helping Marinette as Ladybug, Marinette and Kagami's dynamic, Rena Rouge using her powers, Plagg interacting with Ladybug, the rain scene with Kagami.

Dislikes: Lack of new Cat Noir power up, how easily Marinette can just make perfect Magical Charms, Mr. Pigeon as a villian, Marinette being overbearing with Kagami/ Adrien

Note: I like how with the Magical Charms the heroes are finally slowly but surely being somewhat proactive in stopping Shadow Moth. Since Ladybug will just give everyone these charms eventually there will be less people to akumatize therefore forcing Shadow Moth to use different strategies. Also now that Ladybug cam make these Magical Charms there is no excuse for why the big identity reveal to happen. Once both Ladybug and Cat Noir wear the charms neither of them can be akumatized.

Overall rating: 3 out of 7

Season 4 - Episode 6: Furious Fu

Likes: the introduction of a Grandmaster guardian, seeing Master Fu and Marianne again, lore about the old Miraculous Order, the set up for things to come with Miraculous Guardians, Master Fu's akumatized form, the action scenes

Dislikes: some of the kwamiis, the way Furious Fu was defeated, how the episode fails as a first episode

Note: The Order of the Miraculous is something that should be delved into more. Before this episode we had Feast which showcased Master Fu's backstory. Now we actually have a character from that group in the episode and he was pretty interesting. Hopefully the protagonist can actually explore one of the restored temples and find other Miraculous boxes. Despite having little actual flaws this episode does not make for a good introduction to season 4

Overall rating 5 out of 7

Season 4 - Episode 7: Sole Crusher

Likes: Zoe (as a character on her own), the bond between Zoe and Andre, learning that Andre directed "Solitude"

Dislikes: Chloe's character, Audrey's character, how anti climatic Sole Crusher's defeat was, how Zoe will suffer no issues integrating with Marinette's friend group, why Andre could not have been a better father to Chloe, the reasoning and context (on and behind the scenes) for why Zoe as a character exists.

Note: I am going to be upfront and say that Zoe on her own without context is not a bad character. Yes she is pretty bland so far with everyone just liking her but that can be said for almost every character with little exception. The issue however is that Zoe was included to replace Chloe, will get the Bee Miraculous in the same season as her introduction, and the show will prop her up at the expense of Chloe. It is insulting to anyone who wanted Chloe to be redeemed because now she is arguably worse than how she was in SEASON 1. Not only is this unfair to Chloe but it is also unfair to Zoe because understandably people resent her and Thomas for basically being a giant middle finger to anyone who wanted Chloe to be a better character. One of the few complex characters in this show was wasted. Frankly I sincerely wish that the writers would actually listen to fan criticism every once in a while but I do not know if that will ever happen.

Overall rating: 3 out of 7

So that is what I think of season 4 so far. Outside of 1 episode I think it is pretty good. Anyway you can expect to see chapter 4 before July is over. Until next time...
