It was funny how he seems to know everything about her. His psychic abilities he called it. She knew the time vortex had strengthened their bond, but he seemed to know what she was thinking, how she felt, everything. At first it was like an intrusion she liked her privacy. She didn't mind as much now. Sometimes it got to much and she just wanted to shut him out, mostly though she loved the connection they shared. Loved the way he would just tell her it was o.k. when she needed reassurance. Give her a hug when he sensed she needed it. She wished he would come to her now. Now she needed his comfort.

She didn't even hear the door open, or his footsteps as he crossed the room to her bed. She only realised he was even in the room when he slipped under her covers and took her hands in his. They laid in a companionable silence for a few minuets before he broke the silence.

'You did the right thing you know' his warm breath ruffled her hair as he spoke into her ear. When she said nothing he lifted his head slightly to see her face. Her eyes were tightly closed to hold of her tirade of tears. He sighed slightly and laid his head on the pillow so they were almost nose to nose.

'Rose?' he called her gently placing a hand on her upper arm. 'Rose, look at me' Pain rushed through him as Rose raised her tear filled eyes to his.

'Rose, you did the right thing! He endangered you and everyone else on that ship. You saved them all Rose, YOU did'. He could feel her shake under his hand.

'I saw it' her voice shook with emotion and the tears began to flow. 'I saw him go. I saw his human side return. I saw his fear, he shouldn't have had to die.'

He couldn't take it any more. The look on her face. The despair radiating from her, ripped his heart's in two. He pulled her into a tight embrace, letting her cry into his shoulder.

'Shush now Rose' he rocked her gently, pressing light kisses into her hair.

Eventually she ran out of tears. She tilted her head up to look at him and rubbed her eyes with the back of her sleeve, she couldn't have looked more adorable if she tried. She gave him a watery smile, he couldn't help but notice that she looked so tired. Dark circles were present under her eyes and she had a grey look about her.

'Right now Rose, I think it's time for sleep' he told her firmly wriggling down into the bed she could lie on his chest. 'Don't worry I'll still be here in the morning' he said kissing her goodnight.

As they fell asleep the Doctor prayed to any and all God's that were listening for Rose. For her peace, and for Toby's soul, for his forgiveness.
