(Violet's Pov)
I stared at Clementine as she came into the house and I closed the door. I turned to look to her again as she had her arms crossed and I just looked at her and I just kept quiet.
"You need to explain to me, everything right now Violet." She tells me again and I look at her then away and I shake my head.
"Violet."
"No… I just can't you have to trust me on this Clementine." I tell her and she looked to see my bag and I sighed.
"You were going to leave…. You are really going to leave?" She asked and I nod.
"I have to, I need to get more information on what that thing was." I tell her. I really needed to do more research on what I am an if there was a way to fix it without Minerva getting in my way.
"Then I can join you."
"No, no you can't join me on this, you cannot join me at all, you need to stay here and have Marlon and the rest of the knights keep you safe." I tell her.
"Violet, god damn it I'm not going to let you leave me again, we can do research here I can get books from all over." She says and I passed the room and shook my head.
"Clementine, please stop… I need to do this on my own and I can't have you around distracting me." I tell her and she looked to the bag a bit and sighed.
"Am I that much of a bother?" She asked me. I kept my head down a bit and sighed.
"You aren't but I don't need you knowing any of this stuff, I need to figure things out on my own… it's a different way of protecting you." I tell her.
"But to say we need a Witch here?" she asked and I nod.
"Carver knows nothing on magic, the best thing he'll say is to burn it with fire or Holy Water but none of those things work, you cannot kill that thing but there has to be a way to reverse what has been done to it." I tell her. It was weird talking about myself this way but she can't know, she can never know.
"You know that and I know that, the best thing to get is a Witch to help with what they can, I know your dad… the King is not too fond of the idea but there is nothing else he can do, just trust me when I say this." I tell her.
"And what exactly will you be doing?" She asked pissed and I look at her.
"Looking for whatever I can do that will kill the thing, along with whatever I can find from the Delta to try and stop them." I tell her.
"let's make a deal." She says and I pull a chair out for her to take a seat. As she does, I also take a seat next to her.
"What kind of a deal?" I asked.
"No looking at other women." She says bluntly and I chuckled at this. I look at her and she was giving me a serious look and I nod.
"Of course not, I would never." I tell her and she nods.
"You write to me at any point you stop in a town, you write to me." She says and I nod a bit and she nods as well.
"Anything else?" I asked and she thinks a bit I look at her and I see the ring on her finger so I grab her hand gently and she looked to my hand then to me.
"You tell people you're married; you don't have to say to whom but you can tell them they have… connections." She says and I look to her.
"But we-."
"We have matching rings… might as well say we are unofficially." She mutters and I think a bit and I nod.
"Ok…. Yes, I will do that." I tell her and she nods.
"Don't die." She says and I nod. But sadly, this might have to be a promise I can't keep.
"I won't." I tell her the lie and it hurts. It hurts to lie to her.
"Ok… you also… you have to keep my family crest on you, at all times." She says and I nod.
"Yes I can do that as well." I tell her.
"When do you leave? Tonight?" she asked and I nod.
"Yes, if I start early… I can come back home sooner." I tell her and she nods as she gets up and I grabbed her and made her look at me.
"I will escort you home first though before I leave… can't leave my princess to fend for herself." I tell her and she nods as I grabbed my bags and my black clothing I was able to get her back to the castle as Marlon and the others looked to me.
"Anything happens to her then I'll have your head." I tell him and he nods. I say my goodbyes to them and head out the town and meet up with Minerva who was standing on the edge of town.
"You have to hide the crest when you're in the Delta." She says and I nod.
"I know…I know." I say as we head to the Delta Kingdom.
-1 Year Later-
I was currently looking at the Kingdom of Macon after a year of being away I felt a hand on my shoulder and I look to see Minerva and I shake my head as we head into the town with our cloaks and I kept my head covered along with my face. Though I cannot die I have kept scars, I currently had a scar going down my left side of my face blinding my left eye a bit but I could see shapes from it still just not very well. I was looking at the meats section a bit until I hear something.
"The Knights are to blame for everything that is happening, ever since we had a Witch here nothing has gone right." I hear Carver the priest yelling and I head to the crowd and listen in.
"The king is to blame for this, he listened to the knights and not the lord and brought a Witch to our homeland, and to what? Cause problems for us loyal children of God." He rants and I roll my eyes a bit and I look to Minerva as she glared to the man and we walk away a bit.
"You there young one, are you enjoying the sins of what the king has done?" I hear and turn to see him looking at me and I look around a bit as the people look to me. I clear my throat a bit and I think. I changed my vocals a bit to speak a little deeper than usual.
"Do you know as to why the king asked for a Witch?" I asked.
"He wants to cause problems for us." He says as if that was just it.
"Is that all? Or are you not informing your followers correctly on what is actually going on? Is it truly the Witch causing issues or is it you?" I asked and he looked to me angry.
"Your lord says lying is a sin, if you don't know all the information then you are lying to the people and maybe that is why you're all in a problematic situation, because of you and your sins, being the priest and all." I say to him.
"I AM NOT LYING!" He yelled and I look to him.
"And why should we trust you? Just because you work in a church? No, a peasant can tell the truth just as much as a pure person can, I can tell the truth as well, so again why should we trust you as a person?" I asked.
"Because the Lord has spoken to me to speak the truth." He says.
"I think you are lying about that; I have seen The Lord myself and I must say your ticket to heaven is long gone." I tell him and Minerva and I both leave the area. The other people left the area as well and I feel eyes on me and I look to see Minerva looking at me.
"Did you really see God?" She asked an I shrugged.
"Not sure if it was truly him or not but I must say that if it was, I'm good to go to hell after accepting a deal with you." I tell her.
"I'm sorry." She says.
"Don't be, you're forced to do this too." I tell her as we head to my old home and we take a seat in the kitchen a bit.
"I'm guessing Clementine will be here?" She asked and I nod.
"Yep, she stays here sometimes or so she says in the letters we've been sending each other, remember you and I met again on the road and I asked you to stick with me to help me learn about medicine and stuff, you're a nurse." I say and she nods. I sighed a bit as I got up and started to work on making dinner for all of us and I kept the home warm as winter was close to us. I was almost done with dinner when I hear the door open and I look to see Clementine walking in and I smiled.
"Welcome home." I say and I hear something drop and I turn just in time to hug Clementine as she slammed into me and I chuckled.
"When did you get back?" She asked as she looked to me and I went to close the door, then went back to dinner.
"Today… I uh, Minerva is here as well, she's been helping me." I say and she turns to see Minerva then she looked to me and I raise my hands up a bit.
"She was helping me with my research nothing more, she knows I am married." I tell her and she nods as she looked to Minerva and she nods back to Clementine.
"What have you found out?" Clem asked and I think.
"Well… it's hard to kill the… Monster in general, stabbing of course doesn't work, burning damages some things but then it's healed back up, we haven't found out a true way to kill it other than what stories tell… ironically it's like one of those books you read." I explained and Minerva looked to me a bit as I set the food on the table and I took a seat next to Clementine.
"You mean that romance stuff?" she asked and I nodded.
"Though, I don't think it's true, but we can't say for sure." I say and she nods.
"We did try something once, well I did before I met with Minerva here, I was talking to a witch and well… there was a spell where they could be casted to a human to make it more human like… to kill it." I tried to explain.
"You mean you had to hurt yourself to find this out?" She asked and I nodded a bit as we ate.
"It was the only time, but I wouldn't do it again." I say as she looked to my eyes and I nod telling her it was the result of the so-called experiment.
"Fine, I can let it pass this one time." She says and I nod.
"So, who did Violet here marry?" Minerva asked and I look to her a bit.
"I don't think it's important." Clem responds.
"Come on, she's been talking about her lover so much, I just want to know who." Minerva says and I look at her.
"Clem… my lover is Clementine." I tell her.
"So sweet… are you really married?" She asked and I look to Clementine then to her.
"No… we aren't." Clementine says and I look to Minerva knowing what she is planning.
"I can officiate a wedding, if you two truly want that." She asked Clementine. I was frozen a bit as I glared at Minerva. She cast a spell on me to keep me quiet but I could still glare at her.
"Really now?" Clem asked and she looked to me so I had to smile a bit at her and nod. Minerva really could do this.
"I… I don't know." Clementine says and I look to Minerva as she looked to me.
"Trust me when I say this, I can make it happen, I worked with the nuns before, I know how it all goes, I have papers ready as well." She tells her and Clem looks to me.
"Violet?" she asked and I looked to her.
"If we do this, Lee can't say anything about you, he's already passed the laws that say I can marry who I want, heir or no heir." She says and I look to her then to Minerva as she looked to me. I took a breath as I think.
"I uh… need some time to think." I tell her.
"Oh… ok… are you leaving soon?" She asked and I shook my head.
"No… not for a long while." I tell her. And she nods.
"We can get married before you leave." She says and I look to her.
"Why wait?" Minerva says.
"Well because Violet doesn't want to right now." She tells her and I grabbed some bread and ate it.
"Come on it will be fun, right Violet?" Minerva says and I look at her and I breath in a bit.
"Violet?" I hear and look to Clementine and I sighed sadly.
"Give me just a little bit of time… to get some things ready?" I asked and Clementine nods at this.
"I should be heading back now, I just told Lee I would be out shopping for some vegitables." She tells me and I nod.
"I'll come with you…if you want." I tell her and she nods as I grabbed the jacket and place it on Clementine as I saw the snow start to drop from the sky. I helped her on the horse as I walked right next to her.
"I'm sorry if I'm pressuring you." She says.
"No it's… it's just I uh… wanted to do it not in secret you know?" I asked.
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be… I know your father isn't fond of me… hell I don't think he really is now with all the talk about a witch making the town bad or something… I don't know." I tell her.
"She didn't… but she did tell Lee and I we needed to watch ourselves… he's been a bit paranoid since that and hasn't thought straight for a while." She says and I nod.
"What did the Witch say?" I asked as I kept walking.
"Those you love may turn on you… watch your back princess and king of Macon." She says and I nod at this.
"And you aren't taking that warning?" I asked.
"I don't know anyone that would want to hurt me and if they did… they would have done it by now." She says.
"Unless they knew." I tell her.
"Let's not talk about this anymore, how was your travels?" She asked.
"It was ok… lots of books, libraries, the usual when it comes to looking for something." I tell her as we reach the secret entrance to her room. I helped her off the horse and she looked to me and gave me a kiss and I smiled as she pulled away from me.
"Think on it Violet… please." She says and I nod as I watch her go in and I take the horse back to it's stable. I then walked home and felt the cold winds hit my face and I shake it off once I reach my home and I opened the door to see Minerva looking at something.
"Such a poet you are Violet." She says and I see it's the letters I had sent to Clementine so I grabbed them and glared at her.
"Woah, not like I haven't read our writing before." She says and I go and lock the letters up. I then went to my room and sat on the bed as I tried to think.
"You, ok?"
"Why the hell would you care? I know why you kept edging on the marriage and I need you to fucking stop with that." I tell her.
"Don't you want to be happy?" she asked.
"I will not have you pulling that stunt, do not force her into this." I tell her.
"I am not, she's willing to actually marry you, Violet." She tells me.
"I know that damn it but I am not going to have her marry me just so our plans can go through, god damn it, if you knew how it felt to actually love someone then you would know how wrong it feels." I tell her and got up from the bed to just walk around the house to do something other than sit down and do nothing.
"Hey you need to do this, we both know it needs to happen." She says and I look at her.
"No, no it doesn't need to happen god damn it." I was pissed at the words she was saying.
"Violet, you want to be happy with Clementine, right? This is the one way, and you want a child together right?" she asked me and I grabbed her by her shirt.
"Shut up about that you hear me, I don't want to hear that come out of your mouth." I tell her.
"But you know you want to, both of us know that." She says and I shoved her away.
"Shut up." I muttered as I went to clean the dishes.
"…. You want to reverse the curse right?" She asked and I looked to her.
"I can change the deal all I want, so why don't we step it up a bit." She says and I turned back to the sink and thought a bit then I look back to her and turn my body to face her.
"What are you offering?" I asked.
"Marry Clementine tomorrow night, be king or queen of Macon for three years, we will see how you play that role, if you do things to help the Delta that way then you won't be attacked, and you and Clementine can not only be together but you can rule the lands." She says and I look to her.
"The king has to be dead though before we can take over." I tell her.
"Not necessarily, I heard that King Lee would step down once his daughter is married, he will just be on the side to help if anything gets to difficult… you become king, be with Clementine, have a child together with the help of a witch of course, and you can help the Delta." She says and I look at her as I think.
"No killing the king? Or hurting Clementine?" I asked.
"Hmm, not you killing the king, but we can make it an accident." She says and I look to her.
"This is only if he doesn't allow you to rule." She says and I think some more on this new deal.
"That's only if he doesn't allow me to be king?" I asked and she nods.
"This has to be done before tomorrow, if not the deal is off." She says and holds her hand out and I look to her then to her hand.
"I… I don't know." I say.
"It's the best deal I have to offer you, and I had already asked Lilly on this and she said she would be fine with it." She tells me and I look at her.
"She is?" I asked and Minerva nods. I look at her hand then take it and shake it. I felt my arm burn a bit at this and I pull away from her.
"Fuck." I muttered as I looked to my hand a bit and she looked to me.
"You have tomorrow night, if you aren't married by then, than you and Macon will all suffer." She says then leaves the house and I groaned as I walked around the house.
"Fuck… fuck why did I do this, fucking… FUCK! I yelled as I grabbed my hair and I sighed as I sat in the chair and laid my head on the table a bit. After a while had passed I went to bed and fell asleep. I know I was asleep for a while as I hear a knock on my door and I get up and I opened the door to see Clementine.
"I got your letter." She says and I look to her.
"Uh letter?" I asked and she nods and shows it to me.
"Minerva brought it by, saying you wanted to meet with me… to ask me something." She says and I looked to the letter and I nod at this then look at her.
"Clementine…. Let's get married tonight." I tell her bluntly and she looked to me.
"You're serious?" she asked and I nodded.
"I mean come on, you were right, you want to be with me, correct?" I asked and she nods.
"And your dad wrote into the law that you can marry who you want… and we both love each other… so why not?" I asked and she nods.
"Ok yea but isn't it rushed?" she asked.
"Why not rush it? I mean you were willing to marry me as soon as you could." I say.
"I mean you are right… we need two witnesses." She says and I think.
"Well… I could invite Louis." I say.
"I could invite Brody, or Ruby." She says and I nod.
"Go ahead, I wont mind, but it would be best if we did this tonight, I heard the stars are very beautiful at this time." I tell her and she nods.
"Ok, I'll send them letters, and you can get Louis… and Minerva?" She asked.
"She's going to officiate it so she will be there, we should get married here at my home." I muttered.
"Are you sure you're ok with this?" she asked as she cupped my cheeks and I look at her and I nod.
"Yea, I am… I want to be with you Clementine." I tell her and she nods. She then heads out and I sighed as I decided to head into town and get some flowers and a set of wedding rings for us. I then felt someone standing next to me so I turn a bit and look to see Minerva.
"I see she's quick to marrying you." She says.
"You knew this, this is why we made the agreement." I muttered to her.
"I know, I know… I have the papers ready, the only thing is, we need your family crest." She says and I look at her.
"I… my parents never told me it." I tell her.
"Hmm I guess the Macon crest will have to do until you can get that, then we will make you resign the certificate." She says and I nod at this. I go and get some more things and I set in an order for some wine and ale to bring to the small ceremony. I also ordered some food as well and they told me to get it in the afternoon. I agreed and then went back to the house and grabbed my best outfit.
"You can't be serious." I hear Minerva say and I rolled my eyes at the comment.
"It's the best I have." I tell her.
"Your armor is the best you have?" she asked and I rolled my eyes at this.
"No, I have an outfit for you, since I've seen this happening." She says and throws some clothes at me and I look to the black long-sleeved shirt, with a black leather vest. There was also a black pair of pants and boots as well as a gold sash to tie around my waist. I looked to her and sighed as I went to try the outfit on and it fit perfectly.
"There is a pocket for you to place the rings, and you need to get a red rose to give to Clementine." She says and I nod at this and I sighed as I placed the rings in my chest pocket. I then went out the house to find Louis at the church.
"Violet." He says as he comes up and hugged me and I hug him back.
"Well, aren't you dressed up nice… how was the trip?" he asked and I rubbed my neck.
"It was ok but Louis, I need you to uh help me." I tell him and he pulled me to the side so we could talk in private.
"First what happened to your eye?" He asked and I rolled my eyes.
"Bad fight was all, anyway I need you to come be… a witness to my wedding." I tell him and he gasps.
"Who are you marrying? When? Where?" He asked and I look to him.
"Clementine, tonight, at my home." I tell him and he looked to me.
"Wait… that's a bit soon, why?" He asked.
"Well, she wanted to get married and I promised so here we are, besides her dad is allowing her through that new law and stuff, it's complicated." I say to him.
"Does it have anything to do with the Witch?" He whispered in my ear and I looked to him and just nodded a bit.
"Nothing bad will happen to Clementine?" he asked.
"No, god no not if I do this… I really want to marry her Louis but… I promise we will make a big deal out of it later but right now it's just a quick thing." I tell him.
"Carver wont like this." He says.
"Why? He's not officiating it." I tell him and he looked to me.
"He's been against this new Law that Lee made, he thinks Clementine should marry the prince in Richmond and have children together." He says and I clench my hands into fists.
"Well Carver can go burn in hell for all I care, just… please come Louis." I tell him and he nods.
"Alright, so long as you make an actual wedding happen with you and Clementine." He says and I nod as I head away from him and got more things ready. Noon was close by so I grabbed the cart and went to get the supplies, I went to the flower shop first and grabbed more flowers for Clementine, her favorite was Violets ironically. I then went to the bakery and grabbed the small cake we were going to have, and then finally I made it to the food shop where I saw Omar who handed me my order.
"Hope you enjoy it, Violet." He says and I nod.
"Thanks Omar." I wave to him and then head back to the house. I was able to get everything set up by myself before the others came and I rubbed my neck a bit as I wiped the dust off my new clothes and I looked to them.
"Violet getting married… and to Clementine." Brody says and I look at her.
"You waited this long? I mean I understand because of the laws and stuff so I get it." Ruby says and I nod at this and Louis comes in and I smiled to him. Minerva then came in.
"Well, the bride is here so Violet you need to go somewhere else so you don't see her." Minerva says and I sighed and nodded as I went outside and I decided to grab some paper and tobacco and roll my own cigarette.
"You haven't smoked since the battle in Crawford." I hear and I look to Louis.
"I know but… I know." I say and light it and sighed.
"Is this stressing you out?" he asked.
"No, I just… it's just when I had left and everything, I couldn't deal with it." I tell him.
"I get it, with Lee and losing your job and well you marrying his daughter, I get it." He says and I nod as I rubbed my neck a bit.
"I don't want him getting mad at her for this but… with all the stuff I've been hearing I just… don't want her to be judged on her wedding day." I say, which is true, I never wanted her to feel bad on her wedding day, she should never feel bad on her special day. But I know that if she knew about this deal and about everything, I have done it would crush her.
"So how are you besides stressed?" He asked and I think.
"No idea, just… how do I put it?" I asked as I thought a bit on this.
"You are happy to marry Clementine, correct?" He asked and I nodded.
"I am, I really am… do you think this is too soon?" I asked.
"Not really, you've loved Clem for so long, and to have this law passed then, well it makes things easier on you." He says and I nod.
"Hey, Clem is ready." I hear and look to see Brody and I nod as I go to the side on the makeshift patio, I had made a while back and I look to the door just as Minerva came out and stood to the side of me but centered for the others to see her as well. Brody and Ruby then walked out and then I saw Clementine so I stood up taller and my god she was so beautiful, I mean she always has been beautiful but she looks fantastic right now. She came and stood next to me and I took a breath as we both turned to face Minerva and I look to the woman as she grabbed a book and I looked to Clementine from the side of my vision.
"Today is a special day, we are here to see the marriage of Clementine, Princess of Macon, and Violet… the Grand Cross of Macon, in holy matrimony. These two will be joined in this holy matrimony in the eyes of our lord and with their witnesses as well. Those this wedding is going to be different, do the two have vows for each other?" Minerva asked and I turned to face Clementine as she also turned to face me.
"Clementine, I will promise to keep you safe, and protect you from anything that would cause you harm, just as I did when I was your knight a year ago, I know this wedding is a bit rushed and I promise I will give you a proper one soon but this… this right now I will remember forever, in my next life even… I want you to know that I have loved you for so long, since we first met in the orphanage, when you became Princess of Macon I have stayed by your side and I will continue to do so, even now, as we stand here with our friends or what I would consider my family." I tell her and she smiled at me and nods.
"Violet, I will promise to make you happy in any way I can, I will do the same and protect you any way I can as well. I love you and always have, I've been waiting for this day since I could think of my own wedding, you don't have to give me another once because this alone makes me happy, I will also remember this day for the rest of my life and even my next life as well, it's special to me, and I hope one day it can be put in the history books so anyone who thinks they can't have a wedding with the one they truly love then they'll look at what we have done and know it's possible." She says and I nod and we both look to Minerva.
"The two have spoken their vows, now Violet may you present the rings?" She asked and I pulled the rings out of my chest pocket and hand Clementine the ring she will give me and I hold the ring I will give her.
"Violet, repeat after me as you place the ring on Clementine's finger." Minerva says and I nod as I grabbed Clementine's hand and place the ring on her finger and I repeat what Minerva says.
"I give you this ring as a symbol of our love. Let it be a reminder that I am always by your side and that I will always be a faithful partner to you." I say to Clementine and then she takes my hand and places the ring on my finger saying the same words I had spoken to her.
"I know pronounce you, Wife, and Wife, welcome the new couple, Mrs. and Mrs. Aldon, you may now kiss the bride." Minerva says and I pull Clementine close to me and I kiss her. I try to pour all my love into the kiss and I look to her as we pull apart.
"You took my last name?" I asked and she nods.
"It's a good name, why wouldn't I?" She asked as we looked to our friends who decided to throw flower petals at us and I couldn't help but chuckle as we all headed inside and I had the food all set out and we each took a plate to eat after Clementine and I had signed the official documents and put our seals on it as well.
"So how does it feel to be married for say, ten minutes now?" Louis asked and I shoved him as he laughed.
"Feels nice, I just wanted to know why she took my last name." I muttered the last part.
"I think she wanted it because she wanted you to know she doesn't want you to change your name for a royal status." He says and I nod as I looked to Clementine as she talked to Ruby and Brody.
"I guess I can understand that." I say and he nods and we eat a bit. It wasn't much of a feast but it was better than having nothing.
"Omar should make our wedding cake." I hear Brody say and I nod at this.
"Yea he's really good when it comes to cooking." I say as I take a bite of the cake and I smirk as I take some of the frosting and place it on Clementine's nose. We all talk for a bit and the others had gone home and I looked to Clementine and Minerva as they talked.
"Yea Violet got hurt a lot but she's like that, not wanting others to get hurt if she can at least try to protect others." Minerva says and I go over to them.
"She's always been like that, even when I was being bullied in the orphanage, she always kept me safe, one time there was this boy who didn't like my skin color and she just got up and punched him in the face, the teachers had to pull her off of him… actually that's how we really met, ever since then she's always been with me." Clementine explained and I took a seat next to her.
"Hmm, interesting to know, well I shall be on my way, I'll deliver this to the documentation office, and the other one will be headed to the castle if that is ok?" Minerva asked and Clementine nods as Minerva headed out the house. I cleaned up the place a bit and looked to Clementine as she helped and I stopped cleaning. She turned to look at me and I pulled her to me and gave her a kiss. She kissed me back and I look to her more as we pulled apart.
"Why my last name?" I asked again.
"I like it." She tells me and I look to her.
"And I don't think it's fair for you to change your name just for a royal status name, I married you, you always wanted a wedding you've asked before when we were younger too…. And again I like it." She tells me and I look to her a bit and I nod.
"Ok I will accept that for now." I tell her and she nods. We finished cleaning the dishes and I had put them away before we decided we should go to bed. I put some logs on the fire to keep the house warmed up while we slept. I saw Clementine get into the bed and I followed her lead and went into the bed as well. I looked to her a bit and she looked back to me. I held her hand in mine gently and I kissed her hand a tiny bit.
"I do love you, Clementine." I tell her.
"I love you too Violet." She tells me as we start to drift to sleep.
