(Violet's Pov)
I was looking around in the dark as I searched for something, anything, and then I see her. It was Sophie. I run up to her as her back was to me and I grabbed her by the shoulder and forced her to turn and look at me. As she turned to look at me her body turned into a skeleton, and I let go of her quickly and I back up scared at this.
"What is wrong Violet? Afraid of death?" She asked and I glared at her as she laughed.
"I thought you wanted to die?" She asked me again and I still glare at her as she looked at me more and started to circle me.
"Who the fuck are you?" I asked as I kept my eye on her and she laughed again.
"I am death and death is your fate, and wish is it not?" She asked and I shake my head.
"No one wants to die; I don't want to die." I tell her and she places her hand on my shoulder and I back away from her as she looked to me.
"Oh, but you do, you have stated you wanted to." She says.
"I-."
"You said so yourself that you wanted to die did you not?" She asked and I think.
"I don't know… I don't remember." I tell her and she looks to me as the scenery changes to flames and obsidian and I look around scared at this.
"This is where you will be when you die, you won't be in heaven." She says and I look to her and I shake my head.
"I never said I would…. I never said I was pure enough for heaven." I tell her and she laughs at this.
"All those people you killed, the person in the woods." She says and I hold my head and close my eyes as I hear screams.
"Stop… stop, STOP!" I yelled and the screams keep coming as I hold my ears the screams are still there.
"No, you must know the consequences." She says and I look up to her and I look back down.
"I never asked for this, none of this, I never wanted to be brought back as this." I say and the scream still come, getting louder and louder and then. They stopped. I look up to see Sophie looking at me and she looked normal.
"Violet…. You have to die." She tells me and I look to her.
"I don't want to die." I tell her.
"You have to…. It's the only way to fix these things." She tells me and I lowered my hands from my ears.
"Fix what?" I asked.
"Everything." She says.
"What is everything?" I asked her and she looked to me.
"Gabe will no longer be crazed; you would be at peace." She says and I shake my head.
"You told me I would be in hell… how is that peace?" I asked her and she looked to me.
"Well others will think you are at peace… Clementine would think that…. And she would be happy for you." She says and I looked to the ground then back to her.
"She would?" I asked her and she nods.
"But the kids wouldn't." I tell her.
"Alvin Junior is to young to know about death, and Mary will be told that you are in heaven, so she will think it's ok…. She'll be sad for a short while just like Clementine, but they will move on knowing this." She says and I looked to her more.
"Clem wouldn't move on so fast." I tell her.
"She will… once I tell her that is." She says and I look to her.
"How would you be able to tell her?" I asked.
"I can go into her dreams as well; don't worry I would never do to her what I am doing to you." She says and I hear the screaming again and it gets louder and louder and it feels like my eardrums were about to burst.
"STOP THIS!" I yelled and I shoot up from the bed only to be shoved back down and I see Clem and Ruby holding me as I struggled to get out of their grips. I can still hear the screaming and I wanted to cover my ears, but they won't let me.
"Stop the screaming, please stop." I begged but they didn't stop it and I shake my head a bit and I tried to get out of their grips, and I see the powder again.
"Don't, please don't I don't want to see her again." I begged but the screaming finally died down and they look to me.
"See who?" Clem asked and I looked to her.
"Sophie… or the skeleton I don't know I don't want to see that again." I say and she looked to Ruby, and I looked to her as well as she set the powder down and I take a few deep breaths and I lay back a bit. They still keep me down and I take a few deep breaths. I try to keep calm, but I am still scared as I look to Clem.
"Can you stay calm?" She asked and I nod a bit as they finally let me go and I sit up slowly so they don't shove me back into the bed. I looked to my lap a bit and I hold my hands together a bit and I take some breaths.
"Hey, is everything good in there?" I heard and looked to see Louis and Clementine goes up to him and leaves the room.
"Violet, are you thirsty?" Ruby asked and I nod a bit at this, and she hands me a cup and I take a drink out of it, and I take a few breaths.
"Nightmare?" She asked and I nod at this.
"Are you hungry?" She asked, and I nod a bit at this, and she nods as she goes to the door and Clementine comes back in and I look to her as she looked back to me.
"Uh… we got some information you might like to know." She says and I looked to her. I felt tired but I know I just woke up. But I just felt tired.
"Sophie is not real." She says and I looked to her confused.
"I mean… she was a real person, she did die, and she was a Witch, but the Sophie you are seeing is not her… Minerva says Sophie worked with nature not talking from beyond." She tells me and I look to her, and I hear a scream and I covered my one ear and closed my eyes a bit.
"Vi?" She asked, and I shake my head as the scream finally stops and I look back to Clementine.
"Just… screaming." I say to her, and I look down to my lap.
"Screaming?" She asked and I nodded at this, and I take a breath.
"Is there something that can keep me up?" I asked her.
"I don't think so… why?" She asked and I look at her.
"I just don't want to sleep is all." I tell her and she thinks.
"Just ask Minerva." I say and she looked to me then to the door.
"I told her to leave." She says.
"What?" I asked a bit confused.
"She… I was mad I was really mad, and I told her to leave till she could find something to help you and I just… I was scared and mad." She tells me and I take a breath and try to relax.
"Ok… just find something to keep me up I guess." I say to her, and she looked to me a bit shocked.
"You aren't mad at me?" She asked and I look to her a bit.
"I am… but right now I just… I just need to relax or something." I say to her, and she nods at this. Ruby then comes in with some fruit and she hands the bowl to e and I eat a few grapes here and there. Some time passed before more people came. In and I looked to everyone as they gave me the look of pity and I hated it.
"Stop looking at me like that." I tell them.
"Sorry we just… we honestly don't know what to say or do." Louis says and I think a bit.
"Look… you guys said you had some information?" I asked as I ate a grape and looked to them.
"Look Crawford was tainted land from the beginning, bad things happened that ended up the town to be burnt, restless souls' mumbo jumbo stuff, anyway, seems like anyone in charge like high ranked Knights, Kings, hell even queens can go crazy when in those lands." Duck explained as he handed me a book and I heard the screaming again and covered my one ear and close my eyes again. It took a bit before I opened my eyes and looked back at the book as best as I could.
"Ok so this is where the whole Walker stuff happened, necromancy?" I asked.
"Don't know, anyone can basically raise the dead with the proper ingredients and such." Louis says and I look to him.
"I did some digging around." He says with a smile, and I smiled back and looked to the books.
"So I am guessing and this is a large guess but people died there so they raised the dead so they could see their loved ones again, or hell to even scare people from trying to rob their loved ones graves, things got out of hand and the whole area was burned to the ground so no one could repeat this again but big problem they did, resulting in the two walkers you and I talked about beforehand, and now currently me." I say and look to everyone.
"Yea that seems just about right." Louis says a bit shocked, and I nod and read some more.
"Oh, but hey going back to those lands make people go mad like what happened and is basically happening to me… unless this is the result of bringing the dead back, they also go mad." I muttered the last part to myself as I keep reading.
"I guess that could be another way of thinking this out." Aasim says and I nod.
"Cool…. So how do we fix this is the issue." I say and think a bit before another scream comes in but this time it was louder, and I cover my ear again and groaned a bit.
"What's wrong?" Ruby asked.
"Screaming… again… I'll… work thorough it." I say and open my eyes as the scream died down again and I look back to the book. I think and think but nothing comes to mind before I finally get an idea.
"Who is in charge of The New Frontier?" I asked.
"Mainly the woman named Joan… why?" Duck asked and I think as I get up but they tried to lay me back, but I shove them off me.
"Don't." I say as I get up but fall forward a bit and Clementine catches me, and I grab the nightstand a bit and look to my leg.
"Gabe stabbed it, that's why." She tried to say and I nod as I take a seat on the bed and think.
"What do you need?" Louis asked and I look to him.
"Remember that list I had in my tent… when we were in Crawford, I need that list just bring the whole damn chest I had." I tell him and he along with Aasim go and head to the barracks.
"Anything else?" Ruby asked.
"Some god damn pain medicine." I say and lean my head on my hands as I feel my leg burning and I hear the door open and close again and I think.
"You need to finish eating." Clem says and I move her hand off of me and I look to her as she looked sad. I then pull her close to me into a one-armed hug and I kissed her head gently.
"I'm sorry I just… don't want to be touched it all." I tell her and I feel her nod a bit and I kissed her head again and pull away from her just as the door opens again and I see Louis, Aasim, and Ruby come in the room, and I slowly get up and take a seat on the ground as I opened my chest and looked around in it.
"What is in there?" Duck asked as he grabbed something from inside the chest and I saw that it was a letter from Clementine, so I grabbed it from his hand quickly and he looked to me shocked. I placed the letter back and looked around it more.
"Stuff I like, or want to remember, and I think…. I found… what I need." I say as I grabbed some papers and shut the chest and laid the papers out and looked in my booklet a bit and point to the names.
"Joan, Badger and Cliff." I say as I looked through more papers.
"The New Frontier leaders?" Louis asked and I nodded.
"A few years back they were just regular people, David was the knight in charge of any lost citizens, Joan Badger and Cliff were three people lost." I mentioned and made an air quote.
"Wait how do-."
"Research on the battlefield when David went missing just didn't think it was important my judgement was clouded." I say as I hand the papers to Duck.
"So, they weren't lost?" Louis asked and I nodded.
"They were just looking for information…. And it seems like they got more out of it then they expected." I say as I looked through more papers.
"Wait, Wait, wait… you're just remembering all this?" Aasim asked.
"Nope." I say as I grabbed more papers.
"What do you mean no?" He asked.
"Lilly told me about this beforehand about who they are, I just didn't put their names with these people, because the name Joan is kind of common and so on, anyway confusion aside we met them before the same way David did, though finding lost civilians when we were traveling to Crawford." I say and look to Louis.
"You think they are the same people?" Clem asked and I nodded.
"Joan, Cliff and Badger, show up on my papers and David's papers." I them.
"They could have been lost the first time." Duck says.
"Yea they could have but David allowed them in the kingdom that he had set for Gabe, and they ended up taking over because they didn't want Gabe in charge, right?" I asked.
"I mean yea who would want him in charge?" Sarah says and I think a bit.
"We need more information on these people." I say as I looked to my papers and then I look back to Clementine.
"You need to get Minerva back here." I tell her.
"I wouldn't even know how." She says and I take a breath and I look to her, and I opened the chest again and I grabbed something from inside it and I hand it to her.
"What is this?" She asked and I look to her then to the item.
"Emergency summons…. Break it open." I say to her, and she looked to me then to everyone else and she breaks the glass vile, and smoke pours out of it and it flows to the side and Minerva appears.
"Uh…hi." She says and I nod at this.
"I uh… I'm not." She says.
"I made Clem bring you here because I know how you can help me… kind of." I say and she looked to Clem who nods a bit as she hands me the vile and I put it in the chest, and I look to Minerva.
"Ok… what do you need me to do?" She asked.
"Need you to go to The New Frontier Kingdom, see what you can find on Joan, Cliff and Badger anything about them would be valuable." I say to her, and she nods as she leaves, and I hear the screams again and I cover both ears this time. And I look up and see someone in front of me. I keep still and look around a bit to see no one else and I look back to the figure as they come up to me.
"Look at the graves of." The figure then says two names, but I couldn't hear a sound come from it and I shake my head a bit.
"Vi?" I hear and I opened my eyes and see Clem and the others looking at me.
"Sorry… I heard the screams." I tell her.
"You need to rest." Ruby says and I nod in agreement as Clementine and Louis helped me back into the bed and I lean back a bit in the bed.
"Here take this." Ruby says and hands me some medicine and I take it. I eat a little more of the fruit and I look to Clem.
"Where are the kids?" I asked her.
"With the servant for now." She says and I nod at this. The others leave the room to go get any books or even food. I looked to Clementine as she kept her eyes on the ground and I take her hand gently and she looked to me a bit shocked.
"You, ok?" She asked and I nodded at this.
"Yea just… wanted to ask you something." I tell her and she nods as she moves her chair closer to the bed and I take a breath and look to her.
"You know I would want you to be happy right?" I asked her and she nods, and I look to her.
"And you know… that I might not-."
"Don't… don't you dare say it." She says and I look to her.
"Clem listen to me, it's a possibility that it might happen, you have to understand this, it will happen… I am going to try and not let it happen, but it will, and you know it." I tell her and I see tears in her eyes, and I wipe them away.
"I will try to not let it happen, but I want you to know… It will be ok." I tell her and she looks to me and she looks back to the ground and I move her head to make her look at me.
"Clem…. It will be ok in the end… I just want you to know this." I tell her and she shakes her head.
"What about…" She stays quiet and I look to her stomach and then back up to her.
"Um… just tell them the truth… if I am not around to tell them." I tell her and she nods a bit.
"Go spend some time with the kids… hell bring them here if that would make things better for you." I tell her and she nods again as she leaves the room. I bent down to the chest and grabbed a notebook, and I began to write some things down. Just important information for Clementine and the kids. It wasn't long till I heard the door open, and I quickly hid the book and I looked to the door and saw Mary run in and I smiled at her as she come up on the bed and I look down at her.
"Hi Papa." She says and I nod.
"Hey Mary." I say and rub her head a bit and I look to see Clementine and AJ come in and I smiled to her as she comes over with AJ and I hold my hands out for him. She hands him to me and I look down at him and he looks up at me and I smirked at this.
"How's my little man?" I asked and he smiled at me, and I chuckled at this.
"Doing good I see… haven't been giving mama any trouble, have you?" I asked him and then looked to Mary who smiled and shook her head and I nod at this.
"Good… I don't want either of you to cause mama any problems, ok?" I asked.
"Why would we cause Mama problem?" Mary asked.
"No reason… so you two are going to be big brother and sister." I say and Mary nods.
"I'll be a great big sister." She says and I smiled and kissed her head gently and looked to Clementine.
"Oh, Happy birthday Papa." She says and I looked to her a bit confused, and I smiled and nodded.
"Thank you." I tell her and she nods, and I look back to AJ who was smiling at me again and I smiled back as he did a spit bubble and I chuckled and looked to Clementine as she smiled back at me. She then handed Mary some fruit and she ate it. I leaned back on the bedpost a bit and Mary was talking to us about her day so far and I nod in response and AJ grabbed at my shirt a bit and I heard the screaming again and I take one hand and cover my ear and I looked to Clementine sadly. The screaming stopped and I let go of my ear and I hold AJ again in a proper way.
"Are you ok Papa?" Mary asked and I nod at this.
"Yea… yea I am ok I just have some pain in my head is all but don't worry." I tell her and she looked to me a bit worried, and I nod at this. After a while the door opened again and in came Louis and Duck as they rushed into the room, and I looked up to them and Minerva arrived in the room to but in a sensible way that is.
"Um… yes?" I asked and looked to them than the others came rushing in.
"Joan, Joan she." Louis tried to say but he was out of breath, and I looked to Minerva.
"Joan, she's how you say… a Demon." Minerva says and I look to her confused and I looked to Clem.
"What's a demon?" Mary asked and I look to her then to Clem.
"I think you and AJ should go be with Grandpa Lee while we talk." I say and look to Clem and Sarah as they take the kids away and I wait for them to come back before we start the whole conversation again. I take a few breaths and I hear the screams again, but I don't cover my ears I just close my eyes a bit and I opened them again just as the door opened and I see Clementine and Sarah come back in and everyone takes a seat and I look back to my lap again as I try to relax and listen to what everyone has to say.
"Joan is a demon?" I start off.
"Well sort of… she I suppose sold her soul to a demon and now acts like a witch when she never had the ability to do so." Minerva says and I look to her a bit confused.
"And the other two?" I asked.
"Basically, henchmen mortals, it's just that Badger has the tendency to cause problems… and murder people." She tells us and I nod at this information.
"And how does Gabe fit into all of this?" I asked her.
"David… being the one who built the kingdom and owned it and he was going to give it to his son, they didn't seem to like that, and Joan took over after David had disappeared." She says.
"But that's another thing, we looked up information on David, and we found some books and then this." Louis says quickly and he places a book on the bed, and I grabbed it and looked at it.
"A journal?" I asked and I picked up the book and looked through it a bit then closed it. I looked to the others, and I nod at this.
"Ok I will look through this tonight." I say and we all agreed on that and many people left the room to head out to their own rooms. I looked to see the sun was starting to set and I shake my head a bit as I realized time had passed quickly today. Ruby checked me over again as she changed my bandages on my chest and leg. I hissed a bit in pain at the one on my leg and she looked to it then to me.
"You good?" She asked and I nod at the question.
"Yea, I am fine." I tell her and she nods.
"Ok well if it does get worse then you need to tell me and if you don't you know that Clementine here will." She says and I nod.
"Yea I know." I tell her and she nods and then leaves.
"Violet…. Do you want the kids in here?" She asked and I think a bit.
"Do I scream in my sleep?" I asked her.
"No, you toss and turn a bit, but we can bring in a makeshift bed for Mary if that is what you are worried about." She says and I nod a bit.
"Yea that would be fine… I mean if you and she are ok with that." I say to her, and she nods at this.
"I see you have AJ's bassinet here." I say to her, and she nods at this and I smile at her as she looked to me.
"Yea, it's fine um… just let's look through these notes and then we can get the kids to bed, ok?" I asked her and she nods and I open the journal and look at the first entry.
