(Violet's Pov)
'Journal entry one, this will be the first of many, but this is to inform anyone who sees any of these papers, I am David Garcia and I just want to say that there are many things wrong with this world many things I cannot explain in a logical sense to those in the future that read these as well. Magic is real, demons are real I have seen these things happen and I am not going crazy and I never have been crazy to begin with, I am or was the king of Richmond, I have made a kingdom for my son Gabe Garcia called The New Frontier hoping that he by the time he is a man will know how it is to rule a kingdom at least in a way were people do not suffer. I have seen wars many of them, I have led many men into battle the death and destruction of many, I am hoping that one day this will all end but knowing that battles have been fought for thousands of years before I was even born, that it will never end.' I read and looked to Clementine a bit as she looked back to me, and I read some more.
'Journal entry two, I am going to make this a quick entry but we have made it to the land in Crawford, there have been tells that the land is tainted, many people have died here be it from the burning of these lands or murder, or even people taking their own lives these lands are not good to be at, but we have to go and find any lost citizens, I have made a list and even copies to keep for my own record and the archives in Macon where I am currently at. I have been reading about demons and Witches, and as I travel, I have been gaining more information on them, I will write soon sorry for the short entry.' I read and flipped the page and we read more and more, and I keep flipping the pages as I let Clementine read some too. It was mostly how he has been studying about all these things.
'Journal entry thirty-seven, I have to leave I just have to leave, Joan and the others they have taken over The New Frontier kingdom they have taken the land I have made for my son and they have turned it into something immoral and unholy, I won't say where I am going but I will be gone, either Alive or dead.' The entry then ends and I flip the page and there is a scream and I cover both my ears and I dropped the book. I groan a bit in pain, and I feel Clem rubbing my back a bit. The screaming settles down and I shake my head at this, and I look to her as she looked to me worried, and I shake it off.
"I don't think the screams are going to stop soon." I say to her, and she looks a bit worried, and I shake my head a bit at this.
"We can look for something to stop them." She says and I shake my head.
"I… I can deal with it." I tell her and she makes me look at her.
"We will look for something… I will get Minerva." She says and I stop her from getting up and I look to her, and she looks back to me and backs up a bit and I let her go.
"What?" I asked.
"Your… your eyes they changed and… they're normal again but…. They were white like before but they're normal again." She says and I look to her, and I nod as I place my hands on my lap and take a breath.
"Ok… let's have Minerva take a look and… see if she can get this stuff to stop." I mutter and she gets up from the bed and heads out the door. I grabbed the book and looked through it more and I furrow my brows a bit as I flipped the page to see an entry. Which was weird since there was no more.
'Journal entry thirty-eight, the day the dead will come is the day Joan wins.' It reads and I and I look to it more and I grabbed my book and wrote this down just as Clementine and Minerva walk in, I close both books and I look up to them and Minerva comes over to me and takes a look at my eyes.
"Well, your one eye is still the same but the other one, the somewhat blinded one is still white…. Can you see out of it a bit?" She asked and I nodded.
"Just the same as it was, only blurred shapes." I tell her and she nods as she gets up and grabbed something from her cloak and I look to it.
"This is going to make the screams stop, at least for a short while." She tells me as she hands me a liquid and I sighed as I grabbed it and took a drink. I shook my head a bit at this because it tasted bad, and I hear Clem giggle a bit at this.
"Sorry I know it tastes bad." Minerva says and I nod at this, and I take a breath and chuckled at this.
"Ok, I will let you get ready for bed." Minerva says and I nod as she leaves, and I see Lee come in the door with the kids and I smiled as Mary brings in her blanket and Clementine goes and gets AJ from her father. He nods to her and then looked to me a bit before he leaves the doorway. Clementine hands me AJ and then went to get a makeshift bed for Mary, and I look to Mary as she comes in the bed with me, and I smile a bit at her, and I rubbed her head a bit and she looked up at me.
"How are you?" I asked as I rubbed her head a little more.
"I should be asking you that." She says and I look to her.
"Hey, I can still ask if you are ok, I get worried about you sometimes." I tell her.
"But you aren't feeling good at all… Grandpa Lee says you have something wrong with your head." She says just as Clementine walked in.
"What?" Clementine asked and I look at her.
"Don't." I say to her, and she sets the bed down and looks to me.
"I… need to talk to him." She says and I get up from the bed and I grabbed her hand and she looked to me as I get up a bit. I didn't care that my leg hurt, and I look at her as she looked to me a bit shocked.
"We can talk about it later." I tell her and she shakes her head a bit but sighs in defeat, so she gets Mary ready for bed. I look down to AJ who was just talking to me, and I smiled down at him and he smiled at me as I make a funny face to him.
"He's getting attached to you." Clem says and I nod.
"Well, he knows I am the fun parent." I joked and Clem laughed as AJ grabbed my shirt and I look to him as he looked to me. I then hand him to Clementine as she went to lay him down and we all had gone to bed early this night. I was in a dark area again but then it changed to Crawford's battlefield, and I walked around it a bit. I could hear screams, swords hitting each other, armor clanking here and there but there were no people around at all. I keep looking around as I see flames and then there were a bunch of people running past me or even through me as I turn around to see where they were running too but it was nothing really. I keep walking forward and see buildings being burnt to the ground children were screaming and crying as they couldn't find their parents, or they did find their parents who were dead. I hear some yelling and I turn to see some Knights; they had the Macon crest on their armor which was weird since we didn't have that on our armor.
"Kill every sinner here." I hear a Knight say as he ran around trying to find people and then I was bumped into, and I turn to see a woman scared. I moved my hand to see Armor and I take a look downward to see I was wearing the same armor as the knights, and I backed away from the woman. I looked around more and a Knight came up to me.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING KNIGHT?!" They yelled at me, and I looked around.
"KILL THESE SINNERS!" They Knight yelled as he handed me a sword and I was so confused at this.
"WHY AREN'T YOU TAKING ORDERS!?" They yelled and I look to them.
"What did they do?" I asked.
"They have sinned and the king want's them dead you moron." They say pissed as they shoved me.
"We all have sinned what is the difference why are we even here we should be home." I say and they shove me to the ground and pulled their sword.
"You are the sinner just like them." They say as they brought their sword down, but I was able to block it. We fought for a good while before I was able to stab them in the shoulder. He tried to grab his dagger, but I was able to cut his hand off and I laughed. Why was I laughing? I heard the scream and saw the blood and then I ripped his arm off, and he screamed more and more. Others saw what was happening and they started to come after me as they came after me, I was stabbed many times in the chest, but I never went down. Why wasn't I going down what was going on?
"KILL THE TRATIORUS MONSTER!" I hear someone yelling and I turn to see another Knight come after me with their sword and I smirked at them. They have a shield with them, and I run up to them and they tried to block but I grabbed the shield and threw it to the side. As I did this the person disappeared and so did everything else. There was nothing and I look around a bit as I see nothing. But then it changes. I'm in a field in some unknown land I look around and see nothing, but the field and I turn back to see a large body of water in front of me. was this the ocean?
"Hey what are you doing out here?" I hear and turn to see a woman.
"Sophie?" I asked and they giggled.
"No, I'm --." I never got the name.
"Oh… sorry." I say and they stand next to me.
"Did you have your nightmare again?" She asked and I nodded at this and look back to the ocean.
"The battle again?" She asked and I nod.
"You didn't mean to do it." She tells me.
"I killed my own people, the people I served with in battle, the people I thought were family." I say and look to the woman.
"They killed many innocent people, and you didn't want too, you made the choice because you didn't know what you were fighting for." She tells me and I take a breath.
"But to be the monster I am… I am not alive or dead." I say to her.
"You were brought back to life for a reason." She tells me.
"What was that reason?" I asked.
"To be here with me… to prove to others that as time goes on people always repeat what our ancestors did, and they never learn from it because they don't live long enough to see this." She says.
"So, I am immortal?" I asked.
"Not sure, but you are around one hundred years old as you told me." She tells me and I nod.
"Is there a way to make me mortal?" I asked.
"Yes, do you want me to make you mortal?" She asked and I nodded. The whole place faded to darkness, and I looked around more but still nothing. I wake up from the dream and I looked around the room to see it was morning and I see that no one was in the room, and I felt my leg hurt a bit. I moved the covers and I saw there was blood on the bandages, and I sigh a bit as I get up and limp to the other side of the room and grabbed some medicine and new bandages. I fixed up the wound and as I finished, I heard the door open, and I see Minerva.
"You're up." She says and I nod.
"Clem took the kids into town to get you something to eat." She says and I nod as I get up and lean on the desk a bit. Minerva then handed me a cane and I look to it a bit and I sighed internally as I grabbed it and we walked out the room and I saw Lee as he looked to me, and I nod to him as he nods back. I then headed to the Library and Minerva stayed with me as I looked for any books on Macon History.
"What are you looking for?" She asked and I just looked for anything.
"History book on anything." I say and I grabbed a really old book, and I went to the chair by the fireplace, and I opened it up to read anything.
"Violet, when we were bringing you home, did you hear anything that Clementine and I said?" Minerva says and I look at them as they took a seat.
"No, not that I know of." I tell her as I read the book more.
"You are telling the truth?" She asked and I look up to her to see her not looking at me at all.
"Yes, I am telling the truth… did something happen?" I asked.
"No… I mean… yes but nothing bad." She tells me and I close the book and look to her more.
"What happened?" I asked and she comes up to me and I look up at her. She then leans down and kisses me, and I moved back as fast as I could as I covered my mouth and looked to her.
"I uh, I." I tried to say something, but I was shocked.
"Did you drink one of your potions by accident?" I finally asked.
"No… look Violet I want to be honest with you, I have had feelings for you for a long time." She says and I look to her.
"We used to be at the same orphanage, I was just adopted before Clementine and you left, I just wanted to get this off my chest." She tells me and I look down to the book and I think a bit.
"Clementine and I are together." I say.
"I know, and I would never ask you to leave her or anything, I just wanted to get this off my chest before… anything really." She says and I nod a bit.
"You know I am going to have to tell her." I say to her.
"No, please don't." She says and I look to her, and I sighed a bit and nod at this. I then looked to see something in the book, and it seems a few pages were taken out. I then hear the door to the library open and Mary runs in, and I smiled as I closed the book, and she comes and sits in my lap just as I placed the book on the table. I then look to see Clementine come in with AJ and the others.
"Hey she's doing fine." Louis says and I nod at this.
"How's your leg?" Ruby asked.
"It's good, I changed the bandages." I tell her and she nods, and everyone goes and take a seat.
"Papa was moving a lot in her sleep." Mary says and I look to her.
"I was?" I asked and she nods.
"Did I say anything?" I asked.
"No nothing." Clementine says and I nod at her.
"What was your dream about?" Mary asked.
"Nothing bad really, just… I don't know." I say and Duck comes and picks up the book and I look to him.
"Macon History?" He asked and I nodded.
"Yea just…. Trying to figure some things out is all." I tell all of them. After a while I had grabbed the book back and I looked at the missing pages for a bit.
"There's some missing pages." Mary says and I smiled and rubbed her head a bit.
"Missing pages?" Clem asked as she came over and looked to the book and I nod.
"Yea, and I think I know what is missing." I say.
"What do you think is missing?" Marlon asked and I looked to him a bit.
"Crawford was a battlefield regardless, people were killed and blah blah blah, walkers came in almost two hundred years ago or as far as we know but there was one person who was a Walker in Macon, or at least I think, anyway they were in Crawford and they… killed their own Knights." I explained.
"Ok that's weird… how do you know this?" Marlon asked and I think a bit.
"Just a dream but I wanted to make sure if it was true, I don't know." I tell him.
"So, you're going based on a dream?" He asked and I nod.
"Yea, anyway I can't find anything on it." I tell them and I set the book to the side.
"It seems like Gabe hasn't caused any issues since you were out." Duck says and I think a bit.
"Well after I ripped his arm off, he can't really cause us any problems until he is healed, I'm kind of surprised that Lee hasn't called for an attack or asked Marlon to take a look into Gabe with a spy." I say as I looked to Mary a bit.
"I'm surprised too." Marlon says himself and I look to him and nod.
"Yea… send a spy out to Gabe just to see what he's up to." I tell him and he nods as he leaves the room and I look to Brody as she took a seat next to me and Mary talked to her a bit, and I look to Clementine and smiled to her. I heard some screaming again and I placed my hand on my head a bit and then I looked to her a bit, and I looked to Minerva. I then took a breath and looked to Brody and the others.
"I'm going to do a bit more digging around at the library, if any more pages are missing from any books, we can probably make a connection that someone is hiding something." Sarah says and I nod as her and Duck leave and then Brody leaves with Ruby and the others. I look to Mary and then to AJ who was in Clementine's hands, and I smiled at this.
"You think you can look into dreams?" I asked as I kept looking at my family.
"I uh… yea I can try but I'm not great at it, I need to practice a bit." Minerva says and I nod.
"Alright, it's fine I just wanted to know, we are on a bit of a time limit with Gabe." I explained and then I took a breath and moved in my seat a bit and my leg started to hurt a bit.
"Your leg, ok?" Clementine asked and I look to her, and I nod at this.
"Yea just a little but it's ok." I tell her and she nods a bit at this.
"I can help with it." Minerva asked and I look to her.
"No, it's all good it's not that bad." I tell her and she nods, and I think a bit on anything.
"Are you going to be leaving again?" Mary asked and I look to her.
"Soon, I will have to." I tell her.
"I don't want you to go again." She says and I rubbed her head a bit and I look to her.
"I'm just trying to figure some things out is all, and I want to make things a better place for you and AJ." I explained to her.
"But I want you to stay here… we don't want you to go." She says and I sighed a bit, and she laid her head on my chest and I rubbed her back gently.
"I know, but once this is done and over with then we can spend all the time we can together." I tell her.
"You promise?" She asked and I nodded at this.
"Yea I promise, and the first thing I am going to do is take you, your mom and AJ to my home and spend a few weeks there." I tell her and I feel her head nod a bit. After a while she fell asleep, and I look to Clem and AJ as he slept in her arms, and I looked to Minerva a bit as she read one of the books. It looked like another one of Macon's history books, but it looks a little more recent to the book I had before. She would tell Clem and I any information she found, and I would think on it as I tried to see if any of this fit in with what was going on.
"Walkers can live a long time." I say out of the blue and I feel eyes on me as I rubbed Mary's back a bit.
"In my dream, the person I was, said something to this woman that looked a hell of a lot like you and Sophie… you aren't like a few hundred years old, are you?" I joked to Minerva, and she shakes her head with a bit of a smile.
"No, but we have been told we looked a lot like our ancestors, though I will say your dreams might have mixed with what is happening now, or not but it could be a possibility." She explained and I nod at this.
"So do Witches live a long life?" Clementine asked and Minerva who looked to her.
"No, we live an average lifespan, we can still get sick especially if we aren't skilled in medicines or magic. Oldest Witch I knew lived to be in her seventies… she was in love with a woman too but not much is known." Minerva says and I look to her.
"This Witch have red hair at one point?" I asked.
"Yea why?" She asked.
"Are there any books on her? Or her Lover?" I asked.
"Sadly no, the papers were burnt up in the library a few years back in Macon, it was when the old king ruled." Minerva says and I sighed.
"I'm guessing you went to see if all the books were saved hu?" I asked and she nods.
"Yea… that book was an interesting read, but I don't remember much of it." She says.
"Did it mention her lover being a walker?" I asked and she shook her head.
"I don't think they wanted people to know… but they wrote her as a crazy woman who killed all her Knights, though she never tried to fight it and just let people talk bad about her, hell they even claimed she was a witch, tried to burn her at the stake but her and her lover left to live near the ocean." Minerva explained and I nodded.
"No names?" I asked and she looked to me sadly.
"No, none, they wanted to keep their relationship on the downlow because of the times." She says and I nod.
"I don't blame them though, honestly if my dad hadn't changed the law like he did Violet, and I wouldn't have been able to get married… I even offered to run away." Clementine says and laughs a little.
"Funny how history could repeat itself in an odd way." She says and I nod.
"Yea history is funny when that happens, though no one lives long enough to see it happening." I say quoting my dream and I sighed a bit and rubbed Mary's head a bit and I think for a bit more.
"I'm sorry that I went crazy." I tell both Minerva and Clementine.
"I can understand why but we need to think logically and rationally, not out of anger and revenge." Clementine says.
"I think differently, Gabe deserved what was coming to him, he's threatened Violet, threatened your kids, he only wanted power, that's all he wants and he's just… deranged I suppose is the right word to say in this case. With him working with Joan also makes things bad due to her being a literal demon." Minerva said to Clem.
"And you taking control of Violet's life is any better?" Clem asked her and I sit up a bit.
"Hold-."
"No let her say her peace." Minerva says and I look to Clem.
"You tricked Violet into doing what you wanted in order for her to work for the Delta, you hurt her you stole her heart and basically made her go mad, you aren't the best person to be giving your piece of mind when it comes to how people should act." Clementine says.
"Listen, none of this was planned out well it was rushed." Minerva says and I look to them.
"Look both of you stop arguing on this." I say.
"No, this isn't something we can't ignore, she's just as bad as these people, look at you." Clem says and I look at her.
"What's wrong with me?" I asked and her eyes widen at this.
"Nothing is wrong it's just… you're hurting badly, mentally, physically I mean for fuck sake Violet you went crazy and you've been looking for answers but you are killing yourself over this and it worries me… hell it even worries Minerva." Clem says and I look to Minerva who nods a bit and I look back to Clementine.
"Why do you care if Minerva is worried about me?" I asked her.
"We are all worried Violet." Clem says.
"Yea but you just mentioned Minerva." I say and Clementine sighed a bit and looked to Minerva she then looked to me.
"Minerva…. She knows not to intervene in our relationship, and I don't care if she has feelings for you as long as she doesn't act on those feelings." Clem says and I look to Minerva as she looked down at the floor as she leaned forward in her chair, and I rubbed my face a bit.
"Ok, I get it, I get it…. I understand the whole situation, and I am sorry for causing any problems to both of you and the kids… but you both need to understand that I am just the type of person that wants to try and do something right, even if I get hurt…and I am very sorry for saying this type of things but you both know that it is true." I say to both of them. I did feel bad about all of this.
"We just want you safe." Minerva says and I look to them.
"Yea, I get it… look let's go put the kids to bed for their nap and we can talk more." I say and we all nod in agreement as we take the kids to the room, and I turned to Minerva as she handed me the cane back and I walk back to the library. Once back we all take a seat and I groan a bit as I finally sit down.
"You, ok?" Clem asked and I nod.
"Just my leg that's all, but don't worry I'll just take some medicine." I tell her and she nods, and I think a bit.
"What else happened in your dream?" Clem asked.
"Just what I told you, nothing more or less." I tell them and they nod at this.
"Ok… we will find out more when Marlon gets more information, then we have Sarah and Duck looking into the library, but I doubt they will find anything though I might be wrong on this." Minerva tells us and I nod.
"Now… when did the whole feelings come about?" I asked and Minerva kept quiet for a bit.
"She told me that she has liked you since we were kids… like I said as long as she doesn't try to intervein with our relationship, then she can be around you." Clementine says and Minerva nods at this and I lean back a bit in the chair.
"Ok we have that established." I say.
"I didn't want any of this to happen to you… but if nothing was done many people would have been killed many people would have been walkers and we would be in an apocalyptic world at this point… that's why I tricked you because I didn't want you to think you were going to be responsible for the death of thousands if not millions." Minerva says and I nod.
"I get that, I really do, I can understand the lie and such." I say and lean forward a bit in the chair and look to both of them.
"But I would have liked to have known this beforehand and not after I tear off a boy's arm or eat someone beforehand." I state and Minerva nods.
"I get it I fucked up badly, real badly at that, and I understand why Clem and you would be angry." She says and I nod.
"But… you have been helping me, might not have been a lot in the beginning but now you're helping us a bit more." I state and she nods.
"How's the baby?" I asked and Minerva looked to me then to Clementine.
"Healthy, still have a few months before they are born." She tells us and I nod at this information, and I look to Clementine who looked to me as well and I nod at this.
"Alright, that is good news." Clementine says and I nod in agreement. We then hear the door to the library opening and we turn to see Lee as he walks in, and I stand up with my cane to keep me balanced as I looked to him.
"You mind explaining why I heard Marlon was sending a spy to The New Frontier?" Lee asked.
"You didn't tell him not to did you?" I asked him.
"I did, there is no reason to send anyone out there." He says.
"There is, we have some new information, and I would like to gain more on this Joan character." I say to him.
"I don't want any of our Knights going there and getting hurt, you failed to kill Gabe, you should have-."
"What eaten him? Why don't we turn you into a Walker and see if you like the taste of human flesh, it would make you sick." I tell him.
"Let me guess… you've killed a person before, but you couldn't kill Gabe in the same way." He says.
"I was away for a long time, and I regret what I have done, after I made that mistake, I went into a frenzy, but Minerva was able to stop me before I could eat anyone else… I felt sick and I threw everything up and I said I would never do it again… as I said before I hate the boy, but I won't eat him, I tore the damn kids arm off." I tell him and I looked to him a bit angry.
"If you had-."
"No… look Lee, I respect you but stop asking me to do this I will not eat someone, you're using me like an animal, and I don't like it, I am human." I tell him.
"Dad, listen we are trying to plan some way of getting Gabe and the New Frontier out of everyone's lives, but continuously asking Violet to eat a person is not the way to go about these things, I know you are worried but dad I told Violet the same thing, we have to think logically on this matter." Clementine tells him and he looked to her then to me.
"You know this dad this is all I am saying, we are trying to plan these things out." Clem tells him and he nods then looks to me and heads out the door and I rubbed my face a bit and I sighed as I sat back down in the chair and looked to Clementine and Minerva.
"Alright we are going to have to plan these things out and fast, I need to get as much information to make a battle plan." I tell them.
"We can tell Marlon to send someone out there later on tonight, unless Lee changed his mind on it, then we can get Sarah and Duck to find any information on what is going on with you and your situation, after this is all over…. What?" Minerva asked and I look to her as does Clementine.
"Whatever happens after the battle I am taking my family to the countryside and taking a few weeks off, if I am able to that is." I say.
"We will make sure that happens, but what about Gabe and Joan… will you have to kill them?" Clem asked and I nod.
"I don't want them to be around, even locking them up would cause problems but I think if they are gone and we erase their history like Carlos and Luke tried to do with Carver but we will be more precise on it, everything even the lands, if their people want to fight for them then we will have to kill them we will have no choice but to do that… it sadly would have to be another Crawford and I don't want that to happen." I explained to them, and I look to the history book again and sighed.
"We can explain to Joan and Gabe that if they really care for their people, they will evacuate them, so they don't get hurt… if the people themselves decide to stay then they are no longer innocent." Minerva says.
"No, they were brainwashed probably, all people are technically they would say our own kingdom has been brainwashing our own people… at least tell them to evacuate the kids and women who need to be with their kids, and anyone who doesn't want to fight… the moment they execute anyone who doesn't want to fight then we have no choice." I explained to them.
"Alright, we can work with that." I hear and we nod and relax a bit as a servant comes to bring us something to eat and drink and I grab the cup of tea and take a drink.
