(Violet's Pov)
I sat next to Clementine as we looked through any books, we had on Macon history but over and over again there was pages torn out and I would get a bit agitated by the fact that there was missing information. The door opened and we looked to see that it was Duck and Sarah, who had some books and they set the books on the table, and I grabbed one of the books and look it over a bit.
"I'm guessing you guys didn't find anything either hu?" Duck asked and I nod.
"Mostly torn pages so missing information." I tell them and I find something in the book, so I sit up more and read it.
'Information on me is mostly destroyed due to who I am and what I have done I am a Walker or that's what my wife wants to claim me as since this is a bit new to both of us. She is a witch don't worry she is a good one or at least I think she is, my name is Hayley and her name is Sharon, we have been together for a few years now, I was a knight in Macon and she stayed by my side, until we had to go to Crawford, I didn't want her around those people I personally think we should leave that place alone until they decide to attack us, but I understand that the children and mothers that left there due to the conditions of the land. I want people to know these things.' I read and I look up to Sarah and Duck.
"You two just found what we needed." I say and wave the book.
"What's in there?" Clementine asked.
"Seems like their journal, found out their names too, Hayley and Sharon, might be their journal." I say and read more.
"Today Sharon and I had gone into the castle of Macon to talk to the king, we have been trying to convince him about how I should be turned back to normal and not be used as pet, being a Walker is not the best thing in life, I'm advanced than the others but there are some things that are the same, when I eat human flesh I go into a frenzy I need to be given a potion in order to stop and the only person who can get close enough to me is Sharon. I didn't know how she was able to do this but, in all honesty, I guess it's because I didn't want to hurt her, she's special to me." I read out and look to the others.
"Sharon was not the one to turn me into a Walker, the original Witch was killed by being burned alive in the streets. Regardless Sharon has been helping me as best as she could in this predicament, we have been trying to find some way to reverse all of this, I want to be human again I don't want to be a Walker." I read to them, and I think a bit.
"The king at that time he sends his Knights out to Crawford and they bring a Walker that is basically as advanced as Violet." Duck says and I nod at this.
"Yea seems so, there is probably more like me, but I won't hold my breath." I tell them and I read the book more.
"Sharon has been working on a spell to help me while I am in Crawford since I won't let her come, the only issue is, is that I would need to have time in order to take it, and with me being in battle it might not work." I read and I remember my dream.
"She was never able to take it." I muttered and flipped the pages.
"How do you know?" Minerva asked.
"In my dream, she never had time to take the potion and she goes on a frenzy and killed her knights." I tell them and I read another passage.
"The day after the battle in Crawford was the worst day I will have engraved in my memory, I am glad that Sharon was not there, but I regret not having her there either I have killed majority of my men before she had come, I was about to kill this young boy who had just joined the Knights before she stopped me, she was crying telling me to stop basically begging me to stop. I felt so bad that she saw what I was about to do to the young boy I should have been able to control it but I couldn't I was mad that the one person I was supposed to trust when I was in battle would also be the one to try and kill me just because I was feeling bad for all those people, mostly the children, I felt so bad for them." I read out loud and I sighed and rubbed my head.
"Seems like you and this Hayley character have more in common than you think." Louis says as he walked in, and I nod a bit at this.
"Seems so, but Clem and Sharon are a bit different." I say and look to her and chuckled a bit then looked back to the journal.
"Today Sharon and I were working on a new project or well trying to develop a new spell to help me, I kept a book for everything we had been working on, but it might end up burnt in this process, it might still be in our home but still not all things last in these times, regardless we had been looking all around the woods for any items needed for this particular potion, sorry for the short entry but Sharon has walked in." I read and flipped the page.
"Hello, this is Sharon, Hayley wanted me to write some things in this book too though I don't have much to say on it, I don't read what she writes and she promised not to read what I wrote as well though I don't mind, she probably doesn't want me to see anything that she would regret telling me in person, though I should say that we have been making progress on the new spell but it did end up blowing up in our faces quiet literally it was a bit funny but I was scared if Hayley went blind but we were both ok, sadly I don't think any of these spells will work since I am not the original Witch that turned her, they died a long time ago." I read and sighed a bit then placed the book down. I take this time to process all of this, and I looked to the others.
"Seems there might not be much hope." Louis says and I shake my head a bit.
"There has to be something, I mean come on if there was no chance of this working then we would know about this Hayley person." I say and look to everyone at this point.
"They could have changed their name I mean if they live this long." Duck says, and I rubbed my face a bit.
"Yea, Hayley isn't a common name here." Clementine says and I look to her, and I think a bit. I grabbed my cup, and I took a drink of tea and looked to the book on the table. I stared at it for a bit, and I stand up and grabbed my cane.
"Where are you going?" Minerva asked and I grabbed the book.
"The name might be recorded in the Knights booklet might give us an idea of exactly who this person it." I say and walk to the Knights barracks, and I hear some people following, I finally get to the barrack, and I grabbed the booklet and look through it. I finally found the year she started and looking into the book and never saw her name of her leaving.
"Basically, says she never left." I muttered as I point to her name.
"What do you mean?" Duck asked and I rubbed my neck a bit.
"When a Knight leaves, we put their name and the year they left so their name will be in there twice, so since she was a Walker, she would live longer but we only have one female Knight." Marlon explained as he pointed to my name and the year I had left.
"Wait, but she had to leave at least." Sarah says and I keep looking but see nothing.
"Especially after what we just heard." Duck says and I look to them.
"Maybe… she's still a Walker…. Meaning she is still alive." I state and I think.
"We could look at our old papers see if she left an idea of where she lives or lived, maybe she did die but no one knew what year." Marlon says and I nod as we go and look for any papers and I see a familiar home area.
"Hey… that's where Violet's house is." Clem says and I nod a bit.
"Let's go than." I say as we all head out to the horses, and I got a cart ready, and we headed to my house. After a while we finally get to the house, and we all go inside and take a look around for anything out of place. I looked in the bedroom and looked around everywhere. my leg starts to hurt, and I take a seat and sighed as I looked around then looked to see Clementine come in and I smiled at her as she came over to me.
"Couldn't find anything hu?" I asked.
"No, nothing, what about you?" She asked and I shook my head and looked around the room a bit.
"Nothing, unless." I think a bit and I looked around the floor or walls, it took a bit as I tapped the wall with my cane and one brick felt loose and I bed down a bit as I pulled out the brick. I put my hand into the wall, and I felt something, but it was a bit to big to take out through one brick removal, so I pulled another brick out and I feel someone next to me as I take out a third even fourth brick. I then pulled out a box and I take a seat as I opened it and looked to see some papers and I read through them.
'Hello to anyone who found this, you might be in the same predicament as I am or even was in, you are a Walker, and you either owned the home or maybe some historian who found these documents, I have a family that no one would think was possible to have between two women, my dear wife died not too long ago and I gave my home to a nice couple leaving this behind. I want to go to our other home in the Kingdom of Ericson.' I read and looked to the note a bit as I looked at the papers more.
"Weren't you born in Ericson?" Clem asked and I nod as I read more.
'I have a family they do not know that they were born from two women, I made it up saying their grandfather was a knight, my great Granddaughter seems to have taken a liking to these stories, telling my son and daughter-in-law that she wants to be a knight, she is very energetic on it, her father, my grandson isn't taking good care of her, after my son passed away my Daughter-in-law ended up taking her own life in front of her own granddaughter, sad to say this and my grandson gave her up to an orphanage.' I read but I am a bit confused.
"Did she sneak in here at one point?" I asked no one in particular and looked to Clementine who was also confused.
'You might be wondering how these papers got here well the couple had left a few years back and I placed the papers in this house just in case, I know it's weird and confusing I understand this completely, but I have been keeping an eye on my great granddaughter…. Grand Cross Violet.' I read and set the papers down and looked to the door to see the others looking at me. I looked back to the papers again and kept reading.
'She has worked so hard on being where she is at, I know she is in love with the princess of Macon, Clementine I believe is her name, if this is found not by my Great Grandchild Violet Aldon, then please find her so she can read this, so she knows part of her family history, Violet I know you are a Walker, your other Great Grandmother Sharon told me this would happen if you followed the path of being a knight, I was hoping you wouldn't but it seems you have from what I can see, and I am so sorry you had or still have to go through with this I still have not found a way to become mortal…. But I do know how to end it, I have found a way for death to happen and I will be with your Great Grandmother soon, I will stay alive for a few more years before I do take my own life, if you find this letter before the ten years are up I will be in the Ericson Kingdom, cabin by the woods near an old oak tree, on the tree there are the initials H and S. Love your great grandmother Hayley.' I read the paper over and over again and I look at the box then I shake my head and think.
"She knew I was a Walker, that happened about four years back almost five, Ericson Kingdom is a six-day trip we can get there faster if-."
"Wait hold on what is going on?" Louis asked.
"Uh... we can explain on the way." Clem says as she helped me up and I grabbed the box after putting the letters in, I then placed them in a bag and I headed out the house and I saw the clouds in the sky turning gray so I hurried to a single horse and unhitched them and I got on quickly dropping the cane in the process as I snapped the rains and the horse started to run as the rain started to pour down.
"VIOLET!" I heard Clem yell as I rode off, I had to get there quickly I didn't care at this point I just needed answers, answers for everything and anything. I was able to get to Ericson in a few days, only stopping so the horse could rest up and eat and drink, so it didn't take long, I did eat as well and slept for a few hours, but I was finally in Ericson. I stopped in the town to get information and something to eat, so I stopped in a tavern and sat at the bar and got a drink.
"Long way from home hu?" The bartender asked and I look up to him and grabbed the mug.
"Your crest by the way, shows you're a long way from home." He says and I nod a bit and take a drink.
"Macon." I tell them and they nod.
"Knight?" They asked and I shook my head.
"King." I muttered and took another drink from the mug.
"Oh, you're the king of Macon… didn't know it was true, but I never travel far from home." He says and I look up to him.
"Not trying to start anything but how did you become the king?" He asked and I look at him.
"Married the princess." I mutter and keep my eye on him.
"Oh, don't worry we have a lot of gay people here, we're very accepting." He tells me and I nod as I take another drink.
"Do you know a woman by the name of Hayley?" I asked and I saw some shock to his face.
"The Walker lady?" He asked and I nodded.
"Yea, her… she still here?" I asked and he nods as he points to the side, and I see the empty barstool and then I look back to him.
"She sits there almost every night, her and her wife use to before Sharon passed away, now she comes here and has two drinks, one mug of ale, one orange juice, Sharon drank orange juice a lot." He says and I nod.
"What do you know about them?" I asked.
"Sharon was a sweet woman, was always kind to the people here, she saved my grandmother before she passed away, Hayley was… devastated when Sharon passed and so she moved back to Macon after her great granddaughter was born, their uh grandson wasn't the best when it came to taking care of his daughter, don't know what happened, and Hayley doesn't talk about her, or her son anymore after she got news of her daughter-in-law." He explained.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Her Daughter-in-law killed herself after her husband died in a bar fight gone wrong, he was just there to talk to some old friends and… some guy got mad and a fight starts… don't know the full details, I heard Hayley talking about it to herself saying how she hopes her son and wife are together in heaven, or saying how sorry she was that she wasn't there with him… she uh… she was just devastated…. Actually a few years back I heard her talking about how much her granddaughter has grown and such, so it seems she's still keeping track of family, just not her son that much." He says and I nod and finish the ale and I give him a gold coin telling him to just keep it as I head out and go to the horse and ride into the woods. I looked around for any tree with markings and it took me a good while before I finally see a cabin and I ride up to it, I see the door open, and I slowly get of my horse, and I limp up the steps and I am in front of Hayley as she looked up to me and gave me a small but sad smile and I just looked to her.
"You have my letters?" She asked and I nodded.
"Found them in my home…. You uh… know about me." I say and she nods at me.
"Yes, I do… but you don't know much about me… come let's have some tea." She says and I nod as I come into her home, and I take a seat in one of the chairs at the table and she sits across from me and I look to her as she and hands me the cup and I take it then place it on the table.
"You are in the same situation I am in." She says and I nod.
"In a bit of a worse situation… what is the last thing you know about me?" I asked her.
"I knew you left Macon for a year but after that… sadly nothing else." She says and I nod.
"I'm married to Clementine." I tell her and look to the tea and then back to her.
"That's wonderful." She tells me and I nod at this.
"Yes well…. We are kind of at war with a brat of a prince who now runs the kingdom of Richmond." I tell her and she looked to me, and I sighed as I took a drink of the tea and then set the cup back down.
"Why?" She asked.
"…He didn't like the idea that I married Clem… he wanted to marry her, and… I am… I didn't tell the truth about me being a Walker, he knew because someone told him I have no idea who told him, and we may never know but I just… I just messed things up and he went crazy… I was just…" I kept quiet at this point.
"You were scared." She says and I nod at this.
"I was scared and confused and just… I just messed these things up… my wife is involved with all of this my children." I say.
"Children?" She asked and I looked to her, and I nod.
"Yea… we adopted two kids, a beautiful girl named Mary and a… a handsome boy named Alvin junior…. and we have a baby on the way… our own child." I tell her and I look at her.
"Ah, ok." She says and I nod.
"You have another great grandchild by the way… a girl named Iris." I tell her and she looked to me, and I stopped her.
"My father and mother are fixing themselves they came to Macon for our ceremony they are kind, and they are taking great care of Iris I made sure of that." I tell her and she nods at this.
"So, what do you need help with?" She asked.
"I… I don't know what to do I have been having nightmares saying I shouldn't be here, hell I had nightmares where I was you I saw what happened in Crawford damn well two hundred years ago for fuck sake, then I see a dead girl talking to me telling me I shouldn't be here how… how my wife would be better off if I was dead… how she would have been better off if I was dead… how I'm going to hell but I know I am, I ain't no saint no one is… had a fucking preacher who use to be a king and they tried to destroy his records but they didn't they messed up and he's talking shit about us knights and I hated it." I tell her and I look to her then to the cup of tea.
"I see you are angry." She says.
"I am very angry at everything… I was supposed to die in Crawford, but I am used as a damn pawn in someone else's game, to kill the King of Macon, and Clementine, but I stopped it, I just had to marry her so I wouldn't have to." I felt tears go down my face and I wipe them a bit.
"I basically forced her to have a child with me and I am so fucking confused in everything, I lied, I stole, I ate people I just." I tried to say something but couldn't.
"Don't tell me you want to die." I hear and I look to her sadly.
"I do… I do want to die, I just… I can't take this anymore I have… all these problems and I just I hate having to bring people into my problems… I thought I could fix them by myself but when I couldn't I had to bring others in and I feel like I put a target on their backs and I can't… I don't want to be responsible if anything is to happen to them… they're Clementine's friends." I tell her.
"Are they not your friends as well?" She asked.
"I… I don't want them to be… because I don't want to be the cause of their deaths." I tell her.
"That is the sad to hear… but I personally understand why…though not for the same reasons." She tells me and I look to the tea again and I take a drink.
"Have you gone into a frenzy?" She asked and I look to her.
"Not like you… I didn't kill my Knights, not saying anything bad about you I just… I tore off the stupid prince's arm and… I laughed." I tell her and I sighed.
"You regret tearing off the arm of the boy that wanted your wife?" She asked and I look down.
"I don't but I do…but what bothered me was when my wife's father and his friends told me I should eat him." I say and just looked to my lap, and I lean my arm on the table and think.
"I kept telling them no because I didn't want to go on a fucking frenzy but regardless, I did, and I tore his arm off, and I laughed… I fucking laughed at his pain." I tell them and she looked to me, and I shook my head.
"Yes, that does tend to happen when we go into frenzies like that… it's a bit… psychotic but it happens mostly when we are killing people we don't like." I hear her say and I look up a bit.
"You didn't like the knights?" I asked and she nods.
"They didn't believe in my, they tried to force me into… sexual activities even when I denied, they thought I was weak, and I was vulnerable… a few knights decided to take it into their own hands and tried to kill me…. then a Witch comes by as I am dying and turns me into a Walker…. Few years later she died and then after about one hundred fifty years later… I meet your great grandmother…. She was in her twenties fine young woman." She says and I shake my head and chuckled a bit at this, and I look to her to see her smiling.
"She was a Witch too… but she was a great and good Witch… sadly we couldn't find a way to turn me mortal." She tells me and I finish the tea and she goes and makes me another cup. I wait for her to come back to take a seat and I look to her as she hands me the cup and I take it and set it on the table then look to her again.
"Anyway, those knights were vile men and they tried to use me as their pawn, and it turned on them." She tells me and I nod at her.
"Seems like we have a lot in common." I say and she nods.
"I wish we didn't, and I am sorry." She tells me and I nod.
"Don't it's not your fault." I tell her and she nods at this, and we drink our tea in silence.
"How uh… how did you find out about the whole…. You know." I asked and she looked to me and sighed.
"I looked into some old records in Ericson's town library books that were taken from Crawford, and I took them, they're in my personal library and I took them to make sure no one else grabbed them and… made this place the new Crawford." She tells me and I nod.
"Ok…. What did they say?" I asked and she gets up and I watched as she grabbed some books and sets them on the table, and I grabbed one book and opened it. I read through it for a while before I look up to her.
"Yea." She says and looks to her teacup, and I look back to the book.
"Do you, have it?" I asked her and she nods.
"Are you still going to?" I asked and she shook her head.
"No… not now at least." She tells me and I nod.
"Now… I have a question for you." She says and leans forward a bit and I look to her.
"What?" I asked.
"You aren't doing to try and leave your wife and kids, are you?" She asked and I look at her.
"I uh." I tried to think on this.
"You aren't going to let those kids grow up without their other parent…. And you aren't going to leave your pregnant wife alone to raise those kids by herself… are you?" She asked and I rubbed my neck a bit.
"I don't want to do that to her." I tell her.
"Good… good." She says and I look to her sadly.
"I… I do love my wife dearly, but these dreams have…. Been making me think differently." I tell her and she nods.
"Well… we can talk about it… but I guess you came here on your own accord without talking to your wife, so I would suggest sending a letter to her to let her know that you are ok, and you are talking with me." She tells me and I nod as she hands me some ink and paper.
