Kath POV:

I looked at Westover Hall. The thing looked straight out of a medieval painting.

High walls protected the inside from external viewers. 3 towers, about 10 feet higher than the rest of the walls each rested on one side of the castle. I imagined the walls would form a triangle when viewed from above. Not to mention that those walls were painted pitch black, darker than an Octopus' ink at the bottom of the ocean. About a third of the fortresses sides bordered the steep coast. Another third neighbored a forest, probably filled with many monsters. The last side was the entrance from which we were supposed to enter from.

I accompanied Thalia, Percy Jackson, and Annabeth Chase to the wicked gates of the military school which had skulls for doorknobs.

I glanced over at Annabeth. She was staring at the building like she wanted to recreate it before we managed to destroy it somehow.

Thalia, with great bravery, knocked on the 20 foot wooden door with her hands. The door opened far too quick for a rickety medieval gate and allowed me to find 2 people, a man and a woman in military clothes, looking at us with stern looks as if we had disappointed them somehow.

"Who are you?" The man said with a vaguely French accent, "visitors are not allowed."

Thalia snapped her fingers and I correctly predicted that she would use the good old mist manipulation trick to make us look like students to the teachers.

"Oh, we're not visitors, sir," Thalia said, saving us from being thrown into the snow, "We're in the 7th grade. I'm Thalia and this is Percy, Annabeth, and Kath."

The man hesitated and turned over to his female counterpart who seemed to actually believe the story.

"Mrs. Gottschalk, do you recognize these students?" He asked.

"Why yes, I believe I do," she finally said after a moment of confusion.

And so, we were let in, just in time to catch Grover and let him give us a quick briefing of the mission.

"The mission's easy. We just need to grab Nico Di Angelo and his sister, Bianca," he pointed to a boy and girl standing over to the corner, trying to not grab attention. With his other hand, he brought a paper glass to his mouth and swallowed it whole.

"If it's so easy, why'd you call us?" Percy asked.

"Well... there's this monster here that thwarts everything I do. One time, I started talking with them about the Greek Gods but he called me over to do some studying."

"So we can just kill the monster and be done with it," Thalia said, "Who's the monster?"

"The Vice Principal, the guy you met when you entered, Dr. Thorn."

I looked back to where Bianca and his brother had been just a few moments ago. A side door to the outside had been opened, revealing a light topping of snow over dead grass.

They were gone.

Annabeth caught my gaze.

Percy, Grover, and Thalia all turned around to look at what we were seeing.

Besieging a School

The plan was supposed to be simple. I was to head out the door, find Thorn and lead him into the forest from where Thalia and Percy would pounce on his back from a tree branch. Bianca and Nico would then follow Grover and Annabeth back inside.

I don't think I was supposed to be ambushed by Thorn while looking for him but there I was, pinned against the outer wall by a spike thrown from Thorn's tail.

Bianca and Nico were standing right beside me, one on each of my sides. I imagined they were freezing due to the fact that Nico was only wearing a t-shirt with a band called AC/DC on it. Bianca had dressed more sensibly, wearing a dark black sweater, with a list of AC/DC songs on the back,

Back in Black, Thunderstruck, Highway to Hell

We were standing on the part of the school between the wall and the main building. To my left, a helicopter landing pad, empty for now. To my right was a storage area, holding several antique weapons including the most hated weapon in the world, the slow firing and inaccurate musket.

"Well, Well, Well. What do we have here? A traitor?" the manticore said, "Maybe I should present you to The General and see what he'll do with a betrayer like you."

That reminded me of the 1st Titan War.

I shuddered. That war hadn't been particularly kind.

"Perhaps Lord Kronos will spare you. Maybe he won't. But I'll get a big reward for taking you in," Dr. Thorn said.

"What's he talking about? young Nico asked me, "it sounds cool."

It was at this moment that a silver arrow found its way into his back. Nico screamed in excitement while Bianca covered her mouth.

Dr. Thorn roared, more in rage than pain and around a dozen spikes flew towards the attackers, a dozen or so girls in silver parkas standing on the walls behind/above me.

Standing with them were my demigod accomplices in murdering monsters.

"Permission to kill, m'lady?" A girl said. Her appearance reminded me of a Persian princess that had been plopped into the modern world with a Medieval English accent.

"Unfair! Direct interference is illegal by the Ancient Laws!" The Manticore said, referencing an ancient law the Gods had made a few millennia ago.

"The Hunting of wild animals is within my sphere," a 12 year old girl said, "and you, monster are a wild animal. Zoë, permission granted."

Several arrows flew towards the monster, some landing a hit but he moved his paw towards me and the Di Angelos.

I pushed Nico and Bianca down, allowing the monster to snatch me up. Annabeth jumped down with her knife but the manticore quickly recovered from the silver arrows lodged in his skin and caught her too. Before I could get out of the monsters' hand, He jumped over the walls on the side next to the cliffs and plummeted towards the sea, maybe trying to commit suicidal while simultaneously committing homicide.
