Jesus, Kingdom

Jesus was attending the fair as he told Quinn, but he wasn't there as a guest. He had a bad feeling. He was hiding in the shadows, lurking around the Kingdom. He was determined to look out for danger, for the signs of the skins, but for hours, he couldn't see anything. Eventually, he entered the fair, to grab some food and greet some people. He glanced at Lydia from a distance. As soon as he finished his meal, he left the Kingdom and went back to his lookout post. He found a tall tree that he climbed upon and sat there for hours. He did that for two days already and nothing happened.

Maybe I'm just overreacting… but there's no way the skins wouldn't be interested in the fair. - He thought and took another look around. - Maybe I should just go down there and enjoy the fair.

He looked around once more, then climbed down. As soon as he entered the fair, he ran into Michonne and Judith.

"Jesus, I haven't seen you for a while," said Michonne smiling.

"Yeah, I'm just… It's good to see you."

"Wow, he really looks like Jesus in the pictures," said Judith, taken aback. Michonne and Jesus giggled.

"Yeah, that's why I got the nickname," said Jesus smiling, to the little girl, then he turned to Michonne. "Is Aaron here, too?"

"I don't think so, I'm not sure. I came with Daryl and Henry. I haven't seen him," she said. Jesus nodded.

"Okay, never mind," he smiled, but he was disappointed. He was hoping for a chance to meet Aaron again.

"Are you coming to see the movie?" asked Judith with an adorable, excited expression on her face.

"No, I'd love to, but I have to go elsewhere," said Jesus smiling at the little girl.

"Where?" asked Michonne, frowning her eyebrows.

"I'm looking for Tara," said Jesus, he didn't want to admit that he was overly cautious, since he almost died in the cemetery.

"I haven't seen her," said Michonne, glancing around.

"Have you seen anybody?" laughed Jesus.

"Well, yeah, everyone else," answered Michonne, laughing too. "I know exactly where Ezekiel is, or Carol and Daryl and I saw Eugene too, and Jerry, want me to continue?"

They both laughed.

"No, thank you. If you happen to see Tara, tell her, I'm looking for her," he said and waved goodbye to them.

"Will do," smiled Michonne. She was in a good mood. Jesus turned around and continued his walk. He wasn't looking for Tara, but he had to make an excuse. Since Aaron wasn't there, he headed back to his tree. He climbed up once again and watched the fair from a distance. He saw Michonne leaving Judith with Nabila and heading to the gates. He saw Daryl, Carol, and Ezekiel were gathering there too. He found it curious, but he thought anything they're up to, they are perfectly capable of managing without him. He didn't like either why they are leaving the fair with such a few fighters. They left and the gates closed once more. Not long after that, Jesus' eyes found Henry and Lydia. Henry was leaving Lydia alone, which Jesus didn't like at all. Where's he going? he thought, frowning his eyebrows. Maybe he was overreacting, maybe Henry was just going to the bathroom or something, but then, he saw Lydia enter the movie theatre, without Henry and she was searching for Henry with her eyes as well.

Jesus found that too suspicious, if Henry was going to the bathroom, he would be back already. Jesus climbed down and headed to the building, where he last saw Henry. He didn't like the thought of Lydia wandering around alone. Maybe Henry trusted her, but Jesus didn't. He wanted to find Henry to talk to him about this. He walked to the building, no one noticed him.

He knew something was off. As soon as he approached the door, he heard something from inside.

"Who are you? Let me go!" he heard Henry yelling. He didn't think twice, pulled up his mask to cover his face, only his eyes were visible, and entered the building, but there was a back door and they were already on their way out. He ran after them. He got a glimpse of them before they disappeared behind the bushes. He ran after them, not stopping for a moment. He quickly caught up, because Henry was limping, he couldn't go fast. Jesus grabbed his sword, and with the handle, he knocked one of the skins unconscious. The other one let go of Henry, turned around, and attacked Jesus, but he easily kicked him in the chest, so he fell on his back. Henry hurried to Jesus' side, his hands tied together.

"What are you doing here?" Jesus asked strictly, pointing his sword at the skin's throat.

"Just kill me now or she will. I cannot fail. I won't talk," he whispered.

"What the hell does that mean?" asked Henry, disbelievingly. Jesus reached inside his pocket and tied the skin to a nearby tree, then with one move, he cut the rope on Henry's wrists. He tied the unconscious one to the tree as well. He grabbed Henry and hurried back to the Kingdom. Jesus pulled the mask down.

"What did they want with you?" he asked in a suppressed voice.

"I have no idea, seemed like they wanted to take me somewhere."

"They didn't say anything, I suppose," said Jesus, while walking with fast, long steps.

"No, they didn't," said Henry, while trying to keep up with Jesus, who stopped suddenly and turned to him.

"You have to find your dad, he must be at the movie theatre. Find him and Lydia and tell them everything. Don't leave that girl alone ever again. Not for a minute."

"She is not one of them anymore!" said Henry angrily. Jesus sighed.

"We cannot know that for sure…"

"I know it for sure!"

"This is not the right time to argue about that, find Ezekiel and tell him everything!" ordered Jesus, then he turned around and started to look for Tara, this time for real, while Henry hurried to the movie theatre.

Henry hurried to the movie theatre as fast as he could while limping. He couldn't see Ezekiel or Lydia among the audience, as soon as he was about to turn around and head out, he saw them running towards him. Lydia embraced him tightly while crying, Ezekiel hugged both of them.

"What?" asked Henry taken aback.

"My mother was here and I couldn't find you, are you alright?" she asked, sobbing.

"I'm fine, but two of them tried to kidnap me. Jesus rescued me, then he went to find Tara."

"My son, you stay with me, and never leave my sight for a moment" ordered Ezekiel strictly, while he let them go. Lydia was still hugging Henry.

"We have to cancel the fair. These people are in danger," said Henry concerned. Lydia backed away. Ezekiel seemed to think about it for a minute, then spoke.

"No, we can't take it away from them, we must not make them panic. We just have to make our fighters more alert," he said and hurried out. Henry and Lydia followed him closely.

Jesus hurried around the fair but couldn't find Tara. He had a very bad feeling about it.

Maybe she went out with the others? Of course, all the leaders had to leave at a time like this! – he snapped in his thoughts.

He saw Luke and Alden singing on a stage, Alden looking out like he was searching for something with his eyes. Or someone. Jesus glanced around too. Enid was nowhere to be seen. He gasped for air. Maybe Tara and Enid were taken by the skins? He turned around and ran outside. He hurried back to the tree where he left the two skins.

As soon as he approached, he saw that they were already dead. Their masks were on the ground by their feet, and they already turned into walkers. Jesus cried out.

"Fuck!" he yelled and burst into tears. This was his only chance to get to Tara and Enid, and he was too late. He couldn't track like Daryl, no matter how much he tried to look for traces in the grass, he didn't see anything. It didn't help that his tears blurred his vision. He headed back to the Kingdom, defeated, wiped his tears, and pulled his mask over his face. He hurried to find Ezekiel.

He figured that if Henry told him, maybe they are having a meeting, but the movie theatre was being used for the movie now, so he had no idea where they might be. He headed to Ezekiel's house. He was lucky to find them there. Every eye fell on him as he entered the house.

"Jesus? Are you alright?" asked Ezekiel. Jesus shook his head.

"I think they took Tara and Enid, I can't find them anywhere. And the two skins who tried to take Henry was killed. I went back to interrogate them, but I was too late."

"She killed them, because they failed, and proved to be useless," mumbled Lydia, her eyes widened.

Ezekiel stood there, his mouth hanging half-open, speechless. Henry stroke Lydia's back, to calm her down.

"What should we do? I have no idea where they took them," said Jesus, his voice was cracking. He didn't want to pull the mask from his face, because he was still crying and he didn't want them to see him like that.

Ezekiel ordered the fighters to hurry to their places, then turned back to Jesus.

"I have no idea what to do," he admitted, his hands trembling.

"We can't find them, we can't just run out there and look into every bush! We have no idea about their numbers! We could end up being killed if they catch us one by one like that!" said Jesus, completely out of control, he was clearly scared. Ezekiel nodded with a painful face.

"We can't do anything," he repeated in a grave voice. His eyes fell on Henry and Lydia. He grabbed Henry's shoulder with one hand and Jesus's shoulder with his other hand and squeezed them. Not long after, they heard loud noises from outside, they hurried out immediately.

Daryl, Michonne, Carol, and Yumiko returned with a blood-soaked Siddiq, weary and sobbing…

Author's notes: The rest is history. Sorry, I only saved Henry, but it had to happen in order to continue with the story.
