Chapter 3: Death Eater Attack

Hermione and Harry were underneath the cloak of invisibility. They were listening in on the conversation between Dumbledore and McGonagall.

"What can this mean, Albus?" McGonagall asked.

Dumbledore placed the newspaper down on the desk. He honestly did not have an answer for this. He didn't believe for one second that Voldemort was gone. And this showed him that.

"I honestly do not know, my sweet."

"How can the Ministry not know who did it!?" McGonagall threw her hands up.

Dumbledore went silent. He drew his attention to the stairs. His children should be sleeping. He knew they weren't though.

"Maybe we should send them back?" McGonagall asked.

Dumbledore turned his attention back to his wife. Under the cloak both Hermione and Harry were stunned to hear the question.

"Albus, my love, they were almost killed tonight. Or worse captured and then killed. I don't like this one bit."

"Please don't agree to it daddy." Hermione whispered from under the cloak.

"He won't." Harry whispered back.

"We can talk about it at a later time, my sweet. For right now, let's get to bed." Dumbledore said.

McGonagall nodded her head. Harry and Hermione quickly went back to their room. They made it look like they were still asleep. Dumbledore came into the room to wipe their memories of what they heard.

"I love you both very much. I will make sure you two are safe."
