Chapter Six: A Fluffy Suffering

"Talking"

Thinking - Emphasized word - Spells

"Demonic/Godly/Cosmic Entity Speech" - Incantations

He followed the direction he could hear her thoughts coming from, and found 'Mione sitting at the Slytherin table, only the Greengrass girl and Davis courageous enough to sit near her given her association. "Hey 'Mione." He called as he slid next to her, sitting down. "So, what happened after I left? Anyone give you trouble? Anyone I need to flay, throw salt at and laugh?"

He ignored the shudders from the other two, watching 'Mione's reaction. She just smiled indulgently; he knew she believed he'd go through with his promises by reading her surface thoughts; he had already gotten the story of her life back in the train, which reminded him, he needed to do something nice to whoever this Ron guy was; and shook her head. "Slytherins leave me to my devices, but there was this one Gryffindor boy who was rather rude after bumping into me...no that is not permission to torture him." He pouted at her and turned to his food, serving himself something to eat before they had to leave for the next class; double Potions with the Gryffs, if he remembered correctly.

"But anyway, what did professor Snape want with you? Are you in trouble with the Headmaster?" He smiled at her tone, noticing she didn't use nearly as much reverence when talking about people in authority as she had when they talked about it just that morning.

"Nah, nothing like that. Snape wanted me to be expelled immediately because of my horrendous behavior yesterday, but the Headmaster just assigned me detention instead. I did notice, however, that neither spoke of the attempted rapes." It wasn't a complete lie, but he didn't want to speak about what really happened in public. He wondered briefly if the trust he placed on 'Mione and the care he had for her was a side effect of his telepathy, like he knew he could trust her implicitly so he just did.

He was about to continue their conversation when a scent caught his attention. He took a few additional whiffs to be sure, and when he was he got away from the table, stopping only to let 'Mione know something came up. "Look, 'Mione, I gotta go investigate a lead that came up, this one shouldn't take me nearly as long as the talk with good old Dumbles, but if anyone gives you trouble in the meantime tell them your big bro is gonna fucking haunt their nightmares."

He walked away then, ignoring her "I'm older!" shout as he went, taking whiffs of the air as he walked, redirecting himself to follow the new scent, two werewolves' scents. He wondered for a moment if werewolves were even allowed to attend Hogwarts, and furthermore, if they would endanger 'Mione at any point in time.

He kept following the smell, out the big double doors of the castle, and into the Forbidden Forest. He saw a couple playing with a young cub, and although the scene seemed serene enough, and the information he got from their minds was reassuring, he wanted to test something. His powers fused his inner beast with the human, making him into a new race he, in his younger mind, called wolfman, something that stuck. He always wondered if he could do the same for other werewolves, but never found the good ones to offer testing his theory with. Maybe these two would let him?

He was so immersed in his inner monologue he didn't notice as the wind shifted and the three others present in that specific area growled, turning their attention to him.

"Who are you? Are you with R?" The male one asked, which confused him to no end. What, in the name of fuck, was R? He recalled the relevant information about this R organization that he got from both their minds just moments before, but he had to pretend he hadn't.

"The...who? Look, I'm not with R, whoever that is, I'm not a follower, see, I'm a leader." He answered easily, the Alpha Wolf in him not even considering following anyone. "You're both werewolves, right?" Their gasps were answered enough and he continued with his offer. "I was one too, but I have this power, I can fuse your inner beast with your human side, making you into...uh...Wolfpeople? Wolfmen? No, she's obviously female...huh, give me a second here…" He ignored the male's amused snort, and the female's confused tilting of her head and continued muttering. "Wolfpersons? Nope, sounds terrible...Wolfkin? Huh, that actually sounds workable. So! You guys wanna be Wolfkin?"

He turned again to the two werewolves, and watched them for a reaction, the mated couple seemingly speaking without words before the male walked forward. "Before either of us agrees to anything, I have a few questions…" Harry motioned the older teen to continue, watching him intently, the other male looking up at his eyes, possibly another Alpha. "First, will we need to submit to you or something in exchange? Second, what specific changes are we talking about here? For example, do we have to look forward to black teeth as well? And, for now, Third, will we be...contagious?"

Harry processed the questions, humming pensively as he did so. "Okay, in order. First, no need, you both will be my guinea pigs for this, so in a way we're already working an exchange here, you trust me to fuse you, and I get to satisfy my curiosity. Second, well, changes from Wolfkin transformation include canines turning to fangs, height change, bulkier bodies, claws for nails, wolf-like instincts, heightened senses, superhuman strength, superhuman endurance, superhuman speed, superhuman durability, enhanced healing...I may be forgetting something but I'll let you both know if I remember. Third, no we are not contagious, unlike the werewolf curse, Wolfkin will either be created by me or, hopefully, born. I know that for a fact because it's been tested...thoroughly."

He watched them for reaction as he finished speaking, and they once more seemed to have an entire conversation without a single word being said out loud, he pretended he couldn't hear their thoughts. Eventually, the male took a step forward and offered his hand.

"We'll do it. I'm Serkyan Roseblaze, by the way. I know, weird name, I blame my father, he wanted me to have a unique name." Harry held back a chuckle at the indeed strange name, but otherwise simply took the teen's hand and shook it. He turned to the female and she did the same, stepping forward and offering her own hand.

"Chiara Lobosca, and if you can indeed turn us into these Wolfkin, I'll name our first and second child after you." At his raised eyebrow, she answered easily. "You're Harry James, so I have two names to work with." Harry laughed and grasped her hand, nodding at her logic.

"Okay, so, who first?"

Harry appeared a few moments later beside 'Mione, sitting on her desk with her. "Not late. Victory." He whispered, looking around for the professor and pumping his fist into the air in triumph.

"Oh, hi Harry." Although startled, she didn't jump or shout, a slight gasp the only indication of her surprise. "No, professor Snape is kind of running late. Which is weird because I heard he is never late. I wonder what's wrong?" Harry chuckled at that, imagining the professor raging in Dumble's office for long enough to be late to his own classes.

A moment later the doors to the classroom burst open and Snape stormed in, waving his wand in the air as he went to his table. "Instructions on the board, I expect your potions to be ready before the end of this lesson." The man practically growled before sitting down. Harry just flashed a grin at 'Mione, who rolled her eyes, turning her attention to the instructions.

"Do you think the Chimera from greek mythology exists? I hope it does. Imagine having that as a pet." He whispered conversationally as he worked. If Snape himself treated his own class as though it was not worth his time, he would just have to do the same. And honestly, this farce of a teacher really was not worth his time, he wondered, not for the first time why did he even come to Hogwarts.

"It does. I've read in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them that they are extremely dangerous though, and if I remember correctly, not tameable." He heard 'Mione whisper back, and nodded absently, his attention momentarily in crushing the seeds necessary for the potion.

"Hmm...Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them...don't think I've read that one yet. I do believe I have it in my collection though, just haven't quite gotten around to actually reading it. Good to know it exists though…" Whatever else he might have said was stopped when Snape got up from his chair and made his way directly to their table.

"Ah...mister Potter, our newest celebrity. What's the matter, Potter? Your current project too easy for you? Or is my class not interesting enough for the great Harry Potter?" Snape spoke in a taunting manner, and Harry honestly had to fight the urge to laugh at the man's attempts. His relatives were better at getting a rise out of him.

"Oh geez, I thought I wasn't being obvious enough. The project is interesting enough, though the lack of interest from the teacher affects how the student sees the lesson. I'm giving your classes the amount of attention you are, which is none." Harry had also risen from his seat, despite the whispered protest from 'Mione. "And yes, I am a celebrity. At the incredible age of one I killed your master. The fuck have you done with your life?"

He watched as Snape's face twisted in barely restrained rage, a satisfied grin spreading on his face. "Out! And don't bother returning for future classes! You can just get a private tutor for your Potions instruction, Potter." Harry laughed in delight, patting the older man's cheek like one would a child's.

"There, there, Sev. The big bad Harry James Potter can't get you now, you threw him out of your class...is what you're thinking, right? Wrong. When you fall asleep, I'll be there, my mother will be there, and my father will be there. We will always be what you will never have. A loving family." With those whispered words, Harry turned on his heels and began walking toward the doors of the class, ducking his head so as to not hit the chandeliers as he walked. "Fucking low ceiling…" he whispered.

"Wait! Harry!" 'Mione all but shouted, and it took a minute, maybe two after he stopped walking for her to catch up. "Are we really getting a private tutor for Potions? This potion wasn't in the first year book that was on the school list...so I kinda had to wonder what type of teacher it would take to mess up a lesson plan like that, and make what you said make all the more sense. He does treat his own lessons with a certain apathy, doesn't he?" He couldn't help but beam at the nerdy bookworm walking beside him. He extended his hand toward her as he saw her having trouble carrying her backpack.

"Yeah, we'll get a tutor, I'll set it up with my contacts outside the school. I'm no good with the politics of it all, and there will be some politiquing required for this to pass. I did notice the potion we were doing wasn't in the book too, but apparently no one else did, too bad for them. Well, I always knew I wasn't going to stay in his class, I just didn't think it would be quite that easy to make him snap." He looked around after speaking, seeing the otherwise deserted corridor, an idea forming in his head seeing as they now had one and a half period free.

"Hey, an idea just occurred...wanna check out what's up with the third floor corridor that warrants that warning from Dumbles?" He looked around conspiratorially, before locking onto her much smaller frame. 'Mione looked startled right off the bat, giving him a wide-eyed stare, before her eyes narrowed dangerously and she pointed a finger up at his face.

"Now listen here, Harry James Potter, you're my best friend and I'll be with you through thick and thin, but if you think for a second I'll knowingly risk a, and I quote a very painful death just to satisfy your curiosity, then you, sir, have another thing coming. If you wanna check it out, I'll meet you in the common room afterward." Without waiting for a reply, she just continued walking even as he stopped to stare at her in amusement. "I like her" he heard his mother say in his head, and he had to agree, he liked her too.

He appeared in the specified corridor, looking around for a moment. "Well, I'll give them a ten for effort in the doom and gloom look." The corridor had a darker lighting than the rest of the floor, there were big scratch marks on the floor and the walls. Harry couldn't quite contain the grin that appeared on his face, the excitement almost too much to bear. He walked through the corridor, opening the doors as he went to see if any of them contained the thing that was supposed to give them the very painful death promised by the Headmaster.

He reached the final door, the one at the end of the corridor, the most obvious one to use if they were in a horror movie. He didn't hesitate, didn't wait for his heartbeat to calm down; it was already calm; and he definitely didn't want to increase suspense, so without a second thought he swung the door open and came face to face with a cerberus. A big, beautiful, three-headed cerberus that was watching him warily.

"Hello there, you absolutely wondrous beast!" Harry exclaimed happily as he fully entered the room, closing the door behind him, reaching forward to pat said beast's snout. "A cerberus in a school full of children...I wonder about Dumble's mental health...well I don't. I know he isn't quite all there at the moment. Anyway, not a topic to discuss with a new friend. I see you are collared...and I'll assume you're Hagrid's." He deadpanned when speaking the last phrase, as if reaching that conclusion should have been the first thing he did when seeing a cerberus of all things inside the school.

He walked around the still wary cerberus, examining the animal to the best of his limited abilities. "You look well fed, well cared for too...obviously, like Hagrid would ever let anything bad happen to a friend of his." He muttered as he continued his inspection. During his inspection of the cerberus' paws he came upon a trapdoor under one of them.

"Huh, wonder where that leads…" He finished his circling of the beast and looked each of the dog's heads in the eyes. "Can I take a look?" He asked, pointing to the trapdoor. That seemed to trigger a protective sense in the beast, as not a second after he spoke the words, the beast forgot the reason it was even wary of being in front of him in the first place and tried to lunge at him with one of its heads.

It didn't quite work, obviously, as Harry just backhanded the animal, not strongly enough to really harm, of course, he was, like Hagrid, a lover of such creatures. "No." He said simply, in a more commanding, less friendly tone of voice, causing the cerberus to stop the second lunge it seemed to be going for. For a moment Harry wondered on the sex of the beast, something he couldn't quite place yet as the animal was lying down when he entered the room.

"Down. You will let me take a look at what's down there, I promise not to unsettle anything." The big dog whined and backed away from the trapdoor, looking for all intents and purposes like it had just been forced to commit...well, in a way I am forcing it to betray Hagrid's trust. At that realisation Harry couldn't help but sigh in irritation and pass a hand through his hair. "Sorry, boy. It's okay I'm not going down there, I'll even help you guard whatever it is you're guarding, how 'bout that?"

That seemed to lift the cerberus' spirits as he approached Harry again, stepping once more on the trapdoor he was protecting and plopping back down, watching him intently and his tail swishing behind him. "Such a good boy, you are!" He grinned up at the cerberus before turning his attention to one of the corners of the room they were in, from where one of his...cenobites? Was that their name? It was one of the men he used in the Slytherin common room, the one with the eyes and mouth sewn shut.

"You're going to stay here from now on, helping my new friend over here guard this place. Anyone that isn't me or Hagrid enter, let me know immediately and then engage." The cenobite nodded before returning to his corner of the room and seemingly disappearing from view. Harry turned again to the cerberus, who was watching him the whole time, at least the middle head was, the left head was looking to the corner where the cenobite was and tilting his head curiously.

"That, my furry friend, was Tony." The name he made up on the spot, he'd never really given his cenobites names before. "He's going to keep watch on the room, and if anyone other than me or our mutual tall friend comes along, I'll come and help out, how 'bout that?" The enormous dog barked softly, licking Harry practically from head to toe, to which the boy just laughed and nodded.

"Yeah, I'll pass that along to Hagrid. See you!" And with that, he was gone, leaving the room through the door before, once he was sure no one was watching, walking into one of the many shadows in that corridor and disappearing. Not even really noticing he understood what the cerberus said in the first place.

Harry reappeared at the edge of the Forbidden Forest, and lifting one hand, he cast a quick Tempus to see the time, watching as hovering above his open palm was the date and current time floating. Hmm, I still have a full free period. He turned his attention to the lone shack in the middle of Hogwarts grounds, where he knew Hagrid lived, and began his walk to it.

As he walked to the half-giant's shack, he couldn't help but think about the man. They only shared a brief few days together, but even those few days were enough to endear the gentle Hagrid to him. The man didn't seem to have a false bone in his body, nor did he have evil in him. Without realizing it, Harry started to care about the half-giant.

Truth be told, if it weren't for his mother's soothing influence in his head, he would have given into his baser instincts and destroyed creation in this universe. He wanted to say he'd be a nihilist without his mother's influence, but he knew better, thanks to the time he spent reading about it. He believed in the existence of gods; how could he not, his predecessor fought the strongest among them; and although he was a destroyer, he felt no need to destroy universes he'd never been to, he just wanted the end of this one universe. Maybe some other universe out there could be his new home?

He stopped in front of the door to Hagrid's home and knocked, announcing his presence to the owner. He only had to wait a moment, as soon enough the door opened to show Hagrid, in all his enormous glory. Even as tall as he was, Harry was overshadowed by the half-giant. The man smiled down at him, his beady dark eyes shining with life as he beckoned the younger man inside.

"Harry! I was jus' about ter write yeh!" He turned from the young man to the kettle he left heating. "I wanted ter introduce yeh ter Fang here." Hagrid pointed to a big dog that was just lazing about, lying down next to Hagrid's bed. "If ye jus' wait a minute, I'll have us some tea." Harry nodded and hummed approval, before walking to Fang and crouching in front of the huge, black dog to pat him gently on the head. "Hello there Fang, I'm Harry James, but call me Harry." The dog looked at him after his introduction for a moment, and after a lick at his head, resumed his lazing position, resting his head atop his front paws. With a smile at the dog, Harry turned his attention to the other occupant of the room and in as conversational a tone as he could muster, asked. "So I met this cerberus today...any chance you know 'im?"

Thankfully Hagrid wasn't handling the kettle at that moment, because he stumbled over himself, startled by the question, before turning his attention to Harry properly, passing a hand through his thick, long beard. "...of course ye went there. So, how's Fluffy?" Harry couldn't stop the laughter that erupted from him at the name. A big, strong, scary looking cerberus and Hagrid named him Fluffy, because of course he would.

"He's absolutely fine, Hagrid. I even offered to help guard whatever it is he's guarding." Hagrid gave him a startled look, and he just shook his head, a smile tugging at his lips. At that moment he couldn't help but get from the older man's mind that it was in fact a Philosopher's Stone, and he held back a sigh, fucking telepathy. "Don't worry, Hagrid, I have zero intentions to go gallivanting after whatever it is, I genuinely like Fluffy. I'm just afraid someone will eventually find out how to get past him."

Hagrid nodded, pouring himself a cup of tea, and offering one to Harry, who kindly accepted. "Oh, he's a big softy, Fluffy. Just play 'im some music and he goes straight ter sleep." He said with a fond smile, as though he wasn't quite there, but inside the room on the third floor, spending time with Fluffy. But the moment was soon gone and a worried look crossed his face and he turned his head this way and that, as though someone that shouldn't have, had heard him. "I...shouldn't have said that."

"Oh Hagrid...we really need to work on that if you're ever to be trusted with any secrets. At the same time though, I really don't want you to change, that's how precious you are. That innocence you have...the world doesn't deserve you." A fond smile played across Harry's face as he spoke, and the half-giant actually blushed under the praise, so as to not embarrass his friend further, he saw fit to change the subject. "In any case...how's Aragog? You told me he was feeling unwell, last we spoke?"

That seemed to be the right thing to ask, as Hagrid changed completely, from extremely embarrassed to excitedly talking about Aragog and the acromantulas that lived in the Forbidden Forest. He just smiled and listened as his first friend babbled on and on about acromantulas in general. Harry liked them well enough but from his previous talks with Hagrid about magical beasts he was more partial to the Runespoor, himself.

"Say, Hagrid...if I wanted to get a Runespoor as a pet, who'd I have to go to, to make that happen?" He gave his half-giant friend his best innocent smile, but apparently he was fooling the impressing number of zero persons. But, given just the types of pets Hagrid kept, he needn't have tried. "Well, I'll be honest with ye, I know a few people...hmm…" He was then given the show of Hagrid muttering to himself about Christmas presents and contacts. "Anyway, ye didn't tell me why exactly ye aren't in class. I reckon by the time, classes are still ongoing."

"Hehe…" Harry sheepishly scratched the back of his head and blushed. "I...may or may not have pushed Snape's buttons." He grinned unrepentantly. "So now, until I get a Potions tutor I'll be having some free periods every other day." The older man sighed and shook his head, but Harry continued undeterred. "I should still have some time before the period's over, and to be honest, I just wanted to check on ya. So I'll be leaving for now, write to me when you get some free time for the next visit, or I'll just drop by again during my next free period."

Harry left after that and walked lazily back to the castle. As he walked through the school, Harry paid attention to the many portraits scattered across the corridors, all talking to each other in a friendly manner, and wondered what was involved in creating these artefacts, resolved to talk about it with his mother when next he slept.

Eventually he came upon the Slytherin common room, and as he walked in after providing the password, he sighted 'Mione sitting alone reading some book while other kids gave her a wide berth. It was a known fact in Slytherin house, you don't fuck with Harry, and messing with 'Mione was considered as doing just that.

"Hagrid says hi." He offered as he walked closer, sitting beside the bushy haired girl and taking a quick glance at what she was reading, discovering it to be a book on the specifics of transfiguration, which just happened to be their next class. "He is also planning to gift me with a Runespoor for Christmas, but don't tell him I know." He continued in a much lower tone, so only she could hear him.

He heard her sigh and watched as she closed the book, turning her attention to him fully. "I'm going to ignore that last sentence, because I know reminding you how dangerous Runespoors are is pointless, and instead I'll just tell you to give Hagrid a hug from me when next you see him, if I'm not with you."

"It indeed is pointless. I mean, three headed snakes, come on, that is cool. I'm gonna pretend that you like my company enough to not want to leave my side often, so that is not a problem." Harry winked at her to show he was kidding, before he turned his attention to Greengrass and Davis, who were approaching them, and, curiosity getting the best of him; no one approached him in Slytherin after the events of the initiation other than 'Mione; and despite already knowing why, he beckoned them closer.

"So, what's up, Garden, Davis?" Greengrass offered him a raised eyebrow at the joke, but Davis outright laughed, stating between wheezes of breath "I like him already." He knew the two witches were smart enough to understand the why of the nickname, but thanked the darkness he didn't need to elaborate anyway.

"Harry, be nice." Came the murmur from the witch beside him and he just shrugged, not bothering to answer that verbally.

"I'm always nice. You'll notice when I stop being nice." He said nonchalantly, eyes on the two in front of him, ensuring they knew who he was directing the phrase at. "Anyways, whatcha want?"

"I...well, we need your help with something." He looked to the apparent spokesperson of the duo, Greengrass, and made a motion for her to continue. "For me...well, after they lost their contract with me, the Malfoys are in talks to acquire my sister. Please, if there's someone who doesn't deserve it, it's her…"

Harry nodded and looked to the other one, intent on letting both tell him of their woes before he said anything. Davis seemed to notice this as she squared her shoulders and took a breath to steady herself. "And for me...well, I'm not a pureblood like many in Slytherin, and that being the case, my family is...vulnerable. I'm powerful, and I'm not being arrogant here, I needed to have part of my magic bound for my own safety, and my mother's family while not exactly at Malfoy or Black levels, is influential, so it won't be long before someone goes for a contract for my hand...and being a half-blood I'll be treated more as a servant than a wife. What I'm getting at is, please, if you can, convince my mother's family you're a better choice than say...Malfoy."

Harry sighed heavily, you do one good thing for people, without even meaning to, and they figure you're a charity. But still, sticking it to the Malfoy family gave life meaning, so why not? "Well, fine, I guess we can work something out for both your cases, but I gotta wonder...what, exactly, do I get in return? Those aren't really what I'd call small favors. I'm basically going to stick a ten foot pole right up a lot of pureblood families' asses."

For his crudeness, 'Mione smacked him upside the head, though he remained unrepentant, only flashing the girl a grin before turning to his would-be business partners.

"What? You want more than us? I mean, you already have my contract so we're all but betrothed already. You'll probably go for my sister as well, two for two there. Plus you get to arrange a contract between yourself and Tracey too, that's three for three...and you want more?"

Unblinking and not really caring, Harry nodded. His Wolfkin instinct hadn't reacted to either of the girls standing in front of him, so he wasn't interested in them like that, and he doubted he'd react to a younger girl either, so no worries on that front either. An idea came to mind and he looked slowly to 'Mione, who was watching silently. He knew the girl was going to be lonely given her connection to the monster of Slytherin house; he wasn't called that yet, but he surmised it wouldn't take long; and maybe using this as an excuse to arrange for her to get some wouldn't be all bad? Plus, if he played his cards right he might just get something out of this after all…

"Okay, Garden, the way I see it both of you will owe me after I'm done setting shit up." He pointedly ignored the smack and the "language, Harry." admonishment from 'Mione. "So here's how it's gonna go. You, miss Davis, are going to help 'Mione here with her research. You won't ask why she's researching whatever you help her with, if she wants you to know she'll let you know. And you, Garden, are going to teach us about pureblood customs and politics. I'm not a politicky guy, but the Cosmos seems intent on making me get involved."

Harry watched the two girls for a moment, turning his head slightly to see 'Mione offering him a small smile, he soldiered on, there was one more thing he wanted to get out of the way. "And after all that is done, for new favors I will cash in at a later date, I'll then wait for you guys to find people who you actually want to marry and pass the contract on to them, how's that for a deal?" He finished, watching the now gaping girls and nodding once to himself. Yep, still got it.

AN: Oh boy, these past few weeks...I got roped into DMing a one-shot for my sister, her girlfriend and a couple of their friends. I have absolutely no experience with DnD apart from playing Baldur's Gate...but I have since started watching Vox Machina campaign, and designing encounters for them, helping them with their characters...I have near panick attacks as the day of the game gets closer. What if I overprepared and they feel they are not really in control? What if I underprepared and they don't have fun? *Screams internally*

That's been the past weeks for me, learning and preparing...but I couldn't pass up updating this anymore, so here we are. I did get an idea for a DnD styled story though, based on Exandria. I was going to use the campaign as the setting, but since they are changing a few things for the animated series I'll hold up until that's been released to think on the story proper, so for now I'm creating the characters '-' but maybe I'll stick to the campaign...I don't know. I'd start at the Briarwood arc, since I skipped till after Tiberius was gone as I couldn't stand that character for some reason. I made a hopelessly sadistic Harry that I'm proud of, no idea what rubbed me the wrong way with that guy.

I think I said this, but this first year is all about exerting domination and some exposition of Harry's background, so not much action, but I hope the parts that do have action, will be to your liking...not much more to say at this point, methink...
