Quinn, On the way to DC

We were walking in complete silence for a while, killing the rest of the walkers in bags just to find the tunnel blocked by a subway train. That was when Alden noticed that the kid and the old guy were missing. The two idiots took our supplies. Of course, it was instantly blamed on Negan for scaring them off.

"Hey! It's their decision, don't try to blame their shit on us!" I stated very strictly. The guy shut his mouth while I locked eyes with him. Of course, he was one of Maggie's friends. Daryl shushed everyone, we heard the growling noise of walkers. They were approaching us, so we cleared them. Negan and Gabriel checked the train, it was blocked on both sides. Daryl suggested climbing on top of the train. I didn't like this at all.

"We don't know what's on the other side!" I said.

"Go!" ordered Maggie. She didn't have to say it twice, her friends climbed up immediately. Negan and I were hesitating. I turned around when I heard the noise of more walkers. There was a horde.

"Where did they come from?!" I asked desperately.

"The tunnel carries our voices. They might have heard it from afar and came through a crack on the wall or something," explained Jesus. Maggie's friends climbed up on the train. Negan and I glanced at each other. We were still hesitating. Suddenly, Daryl's dog ran off.

"Dog! No!" yelled Daryl, but the dog ran away. "Meet me at the next platform!"

"Daryl, wait!" yelled Maggie.

"Daryl!" I yelled after him, but he was already off after the dog. I rolled my eyes. I was furious but I didn't want him to die. Only Maggie, Negan, and I were on the ground, the rest was on top of the train.

"Maggie, Quinn, come on!" yelled Jesus as he reached down with his hand. I locked eyes with Maggie. She turned around and kept killing walkers. I grabbed the ladder, Jesus helped me up.

"Negan!" I yelled. He climbed up and I grabbed his hand. Now Maggie was the only one left. She was struggling to climb up. I'm not proud of it, but the thought crossed my mind... what if we leave her here? The hatred against Negan would go away with her. But no. I'm not a murderer. At least not in this sense. Negan and I exchanged glances, I think he might have had the same thoughts. A walker grabbed Maggie's leg.

"Quinn!" she yelled desperately. Negan and I reached our hands down at the same time and grabbed Maggie. We pulled her up. As soon as she was up, she released our hands immediately.

"You're fucking welcome," I said grumpily and turned my back on her. Negan did the same. We hopped inside the train with Maggie following us, panting.

"Everyone good?" asked Jesus looking around.

"Yeah," panted Maggie.

"Daryl went after the stupid dog..." I said quietly. I was so mad at him. The last interaction between us was me hitting his face... again. And the thought came again... what if this was the last time I saw him? It was like Negan read my mind.

"He'll be fine. He survives everything" he said. I glanced at him. His eyes were warm and cold at the same time. None of us were themselves down here.

"Keep going," said Maggie and went ahead to check the door. She couldn't open it. Negan had a crowbar with him, so he stepped closer, exchanged glances with Maggie, then she stepped aside to give room to Negan. She glanced at me too as she passed by me. She went to her friends who checked if everything was okay with her. I looked at Negan he was struggling to get the door open.

"Let me try," said Maggie's huge guy friend. He was quite a muscle. Negan stepped down, he didn't look at me. I smiled to myself. If it was only Negan and me and he couldn't open the door we would be in huge trouble, but somehow I thought it was cute that he couldn't do it. Two of Maggie's friends got it open, while Negan was watching them grumpily. They gave Negan back the crowbar and we stepped into the next car. As I walked past Negan I pecked his cheek. He looked surprised. He closed the door behind us. But as soon as we stepped into the next car we saw the kid at the far end crying for help behind us. We rushed back to the door. The car was full of walkers because he didn't close the door. I hope Daryl is not trying to follow us here. Maggie said not to open the door because they will come over but Alden wanted to help the kid.

"See? That's what I was talking about. She doesn't give a god damn shit about any of you," said Negan.

"Maggie? What the hell?" asked Jesus as he stepped next to Alden to try to get the door open. Something insane was lurking in Maggie's eyes. Like she was going crazy. The rest of her friends didn't look so surprised though.

"Maybe you are used to leaving your people behind, but we aren't," I stated. Maggie's friends looked ashamed. Good. That was my point. Maggie pierced her eyes right through me. I stood her gaze then I turned my back on her. I was watching Jesus and Alden struggling with the door. Maggie's friends grabbed Alden and Jesus and pulled them away from the door.

"Maggie?!" asked Jesus deeply disappointed.

"We don't have ammo to kill all of them," she stated strictly. Negan chuckled sarcastically.

"Yeah, sure," said Negan. I was shaking my head disbelievingly.

"Why are you following her? She is murdering that kid right now!" I told Maggie's friends, but they didn't answer. I chuckled sarcastically too.

"She is right, we would all die if we opened it," said Gabriel. Jesus, Alden, and I looked at Gabriel at the same time.

"What the hell, Gabe?" asked Alden.

"It's decided, " stated Maggie.

"Ha! I don't know how you can sleep at night. Murdering a kid like that. Well done, Maggie," I said as I sat down. Negan stepped next to me, we looked at each other. Jesus and Alden were staring at Maggie disbelievingly, while Maggie was staring at the kid, watching him being ripped apart by walkers. Maggie went to the far end of the car and sat down, crying silently. Her friends went to the door next to her, trying to get it open. Jesus and Alden sat down staring in front of them disappointed and disbelievingly. Negan started pacing. After a while, the kid reanimated. Alden looked at him then at Maggie. She was avoiding everyone's eyes. Negan looked at the kid, then at Maggie, and rolled his eyes. Alden questioned Maggie and her friends about why they can't look at the walker kid and said he died in the worst way possible. Maggie said there are worse ways to die. Negan chuckled sarcastically. Maggie shot a killer glance at him, then turned around and checked her friends still struggling with the door. I exchanged glances with Negan, this time I rolled my eyes. Maggie turned back to us and told a story about how she lost her humanity. It was about how she found a man living with mutilated bodies of women in a house. The story was disgusting and terrible, but somehow, I understood her. Negan got it too. He sat next to me. Alden seemed to be very shaken by the story, Jesus and Gabriel were staring in front of them. Maggie walked back to her friends who were still struggling with the door.

"Did you see anything like that?" I asked Negan quietly, referring back to Maggie's story. He shook his head slowly.

"We did some shit, but I haven't seen anything like that. Sick motherfuckers," he said as he laid his head back. I looked down at his hand, I took it. He held back up his head, looked at me, and squeezed my hand gently. "Alexandria is rare, like Maggie said. We have to fight for it," he said quietly. I nodded in agreement. I turned my eyes away and let out a heavy sigh. "He will come back," said Negan again, referring to Daryl. I nodded.

"Yeah, I hope so," I said quietly. Negan put his arm behind me and hugged me, but we couldn't stay like that for long, because Maggie's friends managed to open the door. We stood up and walked closer just to find the next car's door blocked by a seat. At the same time, the walkers on the other end started to break through the door, led by the walker kid Maggie left there to die. We pulled our weapons and stayed ready to kill them. I looked at all of us, then I rested my eyes on Maggie.

"Suddenly, we have the capacity to clear them," I stated. Jesus and Alden looked at me nodding in agreement, then glancing at Maggie, who was killing me with her eyes once again. I stood her gaze then we turned our eyes back to the walkers. Maggie and her friend started shooting them, then Maggie ran out of arrows, Alden and one of Maggie's friend's started taking them out by stabbing their heads. Only two people could fit on the tiny passageway, so the rest of us were standing behind them. Maggie's other friend yelled that walkers are coming from the other side too. I grabbed Negan's hand, tightly. What if we don't make it out alive? We glanced at each other, he had worry in his eyes too. Suddenly, Maggie turned to us and handed Negan a pistol. We were both surprised, she nodded and Negan nodded. He glanced at me then he pulled me to the other car, so we could start clearing those who were coming from the other direction. I was standing behind Negan while he was shooting them by the door, then he suddenly stopped.

"Ran out?" I asked. He glanced at me.

"No," he said, looked back, then looked at me again. "Your hero is here," he stated grumpily.

"What?" I asked, then I saw Daryl appear behind him, our eyes met for a moment.

"Daryl!" I gasped. Negan helped him open the blocked door, then I rushed to their side, exchanging looks with Daryl. The rest of us ran through the door too, then Daryl threw a grenade into the other car and closed the door. We all ducked behind the seats. After it exploded we stood up and stared at the door. The walkers exploded in the other car. It looked disgusting.

"Ew," I said quietly. We exchanged glances with Jesus, he was just as stunned as I was.

"Let's go," commanded Maggie and she was already stepping to the next door, getting out of the train. Everyone followed her but I stood there stunned. My eyes fell on Daryl. He looked a bit weary but other than that fine, as he was walking towards us. I was confronted by my feelings once again. I was so mad at him but at the same time glad he made it out alive, and he saved us again. As he caught up with us we moved at the same time automatically to hug each other, but then we both stopped mid-air. I was mad and he was mad. I slowly took a step back, letting my arms fall back to my sides.

"Are you... are you okay?" I asked finally, avoiding his eyes.

"Yeah. You?" he asked. I nodded. "Good," he said. We locked eyes for a moment then I turned around and followed Negan after Maggie and the rest. I let out a silent sigh of relief. We got out at the end of the train. Negan helped me down. He had a strange, sad look in his eyes.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing," he said. Just as I thought.

"Were you injured?" I asked as we were walking behind Maggie's friends.

"No," he said. As we were walking silently, tired, we saw the night sky through the collapsed ceiling. I looked up at the stars. Daryl sat down, Maggie did too. Negan stepped to Maggie and handed her back her pistol while locking eyes with her. If I didn't know how much they hated each other, I would suspect something was going on and I would get jealous. But since I knew what was going on I was more worried about Negan's safety. He turned his back on her and came back to my side. Maggie explained our next step, she knew about a hidden supply, so we were heading there next. I sat down and looked up at the sky once again. It was beautiful.
