Author's notes: Hi! I got a question recently about not detailing some scenes in these chapters. I'd like to explain this in case someone else is wondering too. So the scenes I don't write in detail are the actual scenes from the show since Quinn went with Negan, I'm following the show pretty closely now. Therefore, when you see that I summarise in 3-4 sentences a situation writing something like, for example, Maggie was talking quietly with Alden, or something like that and I'm not detailing the conversation because it happened on the show and I don't want to steal the story and I don't want to quote any dialogue from the show either. Therefore, I summarise what's going on (which you can watch on the show and listen to their conversations) and then write Quinn's thoughts in detail and then extend the scene with other scenes that did not happen on the show. I hope this makes sense and you can still enjoy it (also I hope everyone reading my chapters at this point has already seen season 11 so far). 😊 And sorry for posting late, I was busy today!

Thank You for reading! ❤

Quinn, Negan, Maggie, Jesus, Gabriel, and Elijah in the woods

"So, what do we do?" I asked as Negan slowly approached the three walkers coming toward us.

"We have to capture them," he said as he grabbed one by taking its arms behind its back and led it to the nearby tree while Jesus quickly tied it to the tree. The rest of us looked at them, then Maggie's friend, Elijah, and Maggie captured another one in the same way. It was growling loudly. Elijah couldn't take his eyes off of the dead body that Maggie put out and they said they knew her.

"How long are we going to be here?" asked Elijah unsurely.

"Why do you ask?" asked Maggie as she followed Elijah's gaze. Maggie understood what was going on in his head and glanced at Gabriel and Jesus. "Would you mind?" she asked. Gabriel and Jesus nodded at the same time. Negan grabbed the crowbar and softened the ground in the shape of a grave. Then the rest of us started to dig with our own hands. There were many of us so we could do it quickly. It wasn't as deep as an old-fashioned grave, but deep enough to bury her. Elijah gently held the body in his arms and placed her in the grave. The rest of us buried her. I tried to wipe dirt off of my hands in my clothes while the others stood around the grave. Then Gabriel made a funeral speech. I stood next to Negan, he leaned his back against a tree. I took his hand and our fingers intertwined. He didn't look at me, he was looking at the ground by his feet. I glanced at him, then back at the grave. When Gabriel finished the speech, Maggie and Elijah had a short heart-to-heart about Elijah's sister and that they are going to kill every one of those who attacked us. Negan got a knife and a sharpener from Jesus, so he could skin the walkers. Maggie talked to Gabriel and Jesus too, then they left us to go out patrolling while we get into whisperer mode. Negan sharpened the knife as Maggie approached us. She stated she is not using anyone that she knew so we needed stranger walkers. Then Maggie counted how many masks we need, but Negan said we don't need that many because he kept his. I frowned my eyebrows at him.

"Why would you keep that shit?" I asked him.

"Because of practical and sentimental reasons," he said smiling.

"This isn't funny at all, so stop acting like this and get started," Maggie scolded him. I was just staring at him speechless. He kept the whisperer mask for sentimental reasons? What the fuck? He didn't mean that because he had an affair with Alpha? I took a step further from him. Now I became the jealous one. Maybe he said it for this purpose? To make me jealous and get back on me for Daryl? What the hell?

There were three walkers tied to the trees, growling loudly. We had to find two more to get everyone a mask. Because Negan kept his… Jesus Christ. He pissed me off with that one. He followed Maggie to the first walker I followed them a couple of steps away. Negan started skinning the walker while Maggie was watching his every move to learn. I almost got nauseous. The smell was so bad. Negan pulled the skin off with one move and handed it to Maggie. She took it with a disgusted grimace.

"Hang it on a tree, so the sun will dry it up a bit," said Negan as he stepped to the next walker. In the meantime, Elijah brought us another one, and later Jesus and Gabriel as well. Negan skinned the rest and put the skins up on the tree to dry. Gabriel and Jesus left us to patrol again, and maybe spy on the enemy. Maggie stepped to Elijah and started talking to him while we waited for the masks' inner side to dry. Luckily it was almost summer, so the sun was shining strongly, drying the masks quickly. Negan stepped next to me. I was so pissed off.

"What?" he asked with that impish smile. He knew he pissed me off. "You have somethin' to say?" he asked smiling widely. I looked at him angrily.

"Why did you keep that mask?" I asked very seriously staring at him. He chuckled, which made me even more pissed off.

"I told you, for practical and sentimental reasons."

"What are those sentimental reasons?" I asked very seriously now taking a step towards him, getting ready to slap his face if I don't like his answer. Now his smile faded away and he frowned his eyebrows. "Is it because of Alpha?" I asked straightforwardly.

"No," he started. "It's because of Lydia. And because of me. This piece of crap reminds me who I am," he said as he pulled it out of his pocket. "That I am still the enemy in Alexandria. An outsider. I have to wear a mask, a different kind, but a mask to do what needs to be done," he said very seriously. I frowned my eyebrows questioningly, easing up a bit.

"So it's not because of her?" I asked again to make sure.

"Of course not," he said. I didn't get to slap him after all, but I pushed his chest a little bit, out of anger. He started smiling again. "What? You got jealous of a dead woman?" he asked smiling.

"Stop it, you idiot," I said grumpily. "You don't get to be jealous of Daryl, because nothing's going on, but I have to live with the thought that I will never be as good as Lucille was and that you had so many women before me," I stated finally. His smile faded away instantly.

"Oh, come on. Don't compare yourself to Lucille. You didn't know her. And the rest didn't mean anything to me," he said gently. Probably I am the only one who can get away with mentioning Lucille without making him angry or sad.

"Great, but Lucille meant the world to you, I'll never get to that level," I said grumpily avoiding his eyes, almost about to cry. I don't know what got into me suddenly. I was frustrated and worried and angry and then he talks about this sentimental bullshit. I think this was building up inside me unconsciously and suddenly it just burst out. He took a step and stood really close to me.

"Hey, look at me," he said gently. He just said it in the same way he did on the night of the storm. I didn't want to look at him, so he put a finger under my chin to make me look at him. He looked me in the eye and I got mesmerized. I got lost in his beautiful eyes. He continued: "Lucille is just a beautiful memory now. Alpha never meant anything to me in a romantic sense. And the rest… I don't even remember their names. Not proud of it, but shit. They don't mean anything anymore. You are my present and hopefully… my future too."

That's it. My heart felt like it fell out of my chest then it started racing like crazy. I almost gasped but then he quickly kissed me not giving me any more time to think about it or say anything. He sealed it. He kissed me in such a cute manner at first but then I just found myself making out with him. My hand slipped onto the back of his neck. I didn't give a shit about Maggie seeing us or not. But obviously, she didn't like it.

"Negan!" she said his name like a queen asks for a servant. "We don't have time for this crap. Let's move on to the next step," she said, but Negan didn't stop kissing me, so after a little while we both started to smile during kissing but then we stopped and we chuckled quietly.

"You're such an idiot," I said as I gently hit his arm. He was smiling widely. Maggie was so angry.

"Negan," she said again really pissed off.

"Coming, ma'am," said Negan with a salute, still smiling. I giggled. Suddenly I forgot about all the jealousy I felt five minutes ago. Maggie marched towards the tree where the masks were hung, Negan followed her, but glanced back at me above his shoulder and winked at me. I smiled widely this time and got embarrassed, so I turned my eyes to the ground and chuckled. I felt my face was hot which meant really red. Negan put his mask on to show Maggie how to do it. I stepped to them and grabbed one too. It looked disgusting and smelled disgusting. I glanced at Negan as he was already wearing his. I made a disgusted grimace, he smiled at me.

"What? You don't like me this way? Am I not handsome?" he asked jokingly.

"I prefer you without that disgusting crap," I said chuckling.

"Enough. What should I do now?" asked Maggie seriously.

"Put it on and get familiar with it," answered Negan. Maggie and I did as he said, then I exchanged glances with Maggie.

"I don't see anything in this shit," she said grumpily.

"Get used to it," said Negan seriously. Maggie started to walk around in the mask. I did too. We were walking in circles, trying to get used to the mask. "Try imitating those motherfuckers," said Negan. "Numb limbs, slow steps," he said. I tried my best but it felt so awkward, especially because Negan was watching and this was anything but sexy. "You're doing good Quinn," he said, then he looked at Maggie and repeated the instructions. Maggie was too stiff. But then he praised her too. Negan let go one of the walkers which were tied to the tree, to see if we can fit in with it. Maggie was breathing so loudly I could hear it from two steps afar.

"Maggie… try to be more quiet," I whispered to her. The walker didn't give a shit about me, he was following Maggie, which means I passed the test. Then suddenly Maggie tripped on a stone and fell, her hands were shaking so she couldn't take off her mask. I stepped next to her to keep the walker away, while Elijah jumped on the walker and tied it back to the tree. When finally Maggie got the mask off she stood up and threw it at Negan. She claimed that she said she can't see anything in that shit. Negan jokingly said that it's someone else's face so it won't fit. But then he admitted that this one is actually a good idea and might work. Maggie got into thinking. Negan said he is fixing the mask so it would fit better but for once they seemed to be on the same page.

Negan sat down by a tree and started working on Maggie's mask, making tiny holes on its back with a knife. He was about to put a thin rope in it, like a shoelace. I sat next to him.

"You did good," he said without taking his eyes off of the mask. "If I didn't know you, I would think you were already a whisperer."

"Haha," I said grumpily. "I hate it, it's disgusting and smells terrible."

"At least I know you're safe," he said as he glanced at me. "Make sure not to make any quick moves and don't talk. Not even in a whisper. And if one takes interest in you just keep walking really slowly without making any sound," he instructed me.

"Thanks, Mr. Expert," I said smiling at him. He chuckled.

"Hey, at least I'm good at something," he said shrugging his shoulder.

"You're good at many things," I said smiling at him. He smiled too. Suddenly my smile faded away.

"So… we're doing the same to them as what the whisperers did to Alexandria and Hilltop?" I asked. Negan became serious too, glanced at me again, and nodded.

"Yeah, we are," he said as he started putting the lace into Maggie's mask. In the meantime, Elijah tried to imitate walkers as well, while Maggie watched him. I looked at them while Negan finished the mask. He put it down and looked at me, I glanced back at him.

"Stay next to me closely while we're walking," he said seriously. I nodded.

"I will," I said equally seriously. Negan was about to kiss me again when Maggie stepped to us.

"Let's go again," stated Maggie and grabbed her mask from Negan's hand and put it on. I put mine on too and followed Maggie. Negan let out a sigh, gathered himself up, and followed us.

Author's notes: Listen to "Blue Jeans" by Lana Del Rey.

That part of the song when the guy left doesn't fit, but the atmosphere and chorus do, so that's why it's here.
