Among the Hyuga
Naruto and Karasu didn't have to wait long for Hinata to arrive, bursting through the door and doubling over to catch her breath. When she finally looked up at Karasu, her eyes went wide.
"Are you Karasu, son of Hyuga Shirohime?" She whispered, to which Karasu nodded his affirmation.
She slowly approached him, her gaze distant. Karasu didn't know whether she meant him harm or was shocked by his answer. Hinata closed the distance between them and wrapped her arms around his shoulders, much to Karasu and Naruto's surprise. It confounded them even further when she began to cry heavily, her tears quickly soaking the sleeve of Karasu's cloak. When she looked up at him, a sad smile graced her lips.
"I am glad to know that I was right after all these years. I have a few vague memories of my older sister, but my father still refuses to acknowledge that she ever existed. How is she?" Hinata said, a glimmer of hope in her eyes as she asked Karasu about his mother.
"She died several years ago at the hands of the Foundation," he replied sadly, a dangerous edge of rage entering his voice.
"I'm sorry," Hinata replied.
"Would you like to meet her side of the family?" She asked him, that spark of hope once more visible in her eyes.
Karasu looked to Naruto, who gave him an encouraging nod and a warm smile. He looked back at Hinata's face, nodding his agreement. Her smile widened at his response, giving him no time to react as she grabbed his hand and ran for the door, leaving Naruto chuckling to himself in his now empty office.
Karasu couldn't believe the size of the Hyuga compound as Hinata guided him along its walls. Sasuke had told him about the size difference, but he still found it hard to believe now that he was seeing it for himself. Hinata noticed the odd look on his face, hurrying her pace to end their journey more swiftly. Neither of them had spoken much along the way. Hinata had asked Karasu about his childhood as they walked, stopping to cry after he recounted the night his mother had been killed.
"If only she had not felt it necessary to leave the compound," Hinata said sadly as they neared the front gate.
They were greeted immediately by an older man and a girl younger than Hinata. Both people asked after Hinata's children, seeming disappointed when she said they were away at school.
"Who is this? A new Anbu guard assigned by your husband?" The man asked Hinata, referring to Karasu, who was wearing his dragon mask.
"No father, in fact, he's your grandson," she replied timidly.
"Preposterous!" He shouted. "He's too old to have come from you or Hanabi," he added, his light manor revealing that he thought Hinata was joking.
"My mother's name was Shirohime," Karasu said, causing the other man's face to flush with anger and his Byakugan to activate.
"Lies!" He shouted.
Karasu slowly reached up and removed his mask, causing Hinata's father and sister to gasp in shock. Hanabi clutched at her chest as Karasu opened his eyes to reveal that they were like the Hyugas'.
"No daughter of mine would ever dare to mix with an Uchiha, and you're clearly the offspring of that traitor, Itachi! Begone from my sight!" Hinata's father shouted at him.
Before anyone could react, Karasu had closed the distance between them, his right hand covered in white flames as it shot towards Hiashi. He stopped his attack just before he tore through the Hyuga head's throat, staring into his eyes as he awakened his ocular abilities in sequence. Hiashi froze as Karasu began by activating his Byakugan, activating his Kokuryutei Sharingan in tandem, causing the Ryugan to awaken and the Rinnesharingan on his forehead to open.
"I will not tolerate another insult to either of my parents. I don't care whether your blood runs in my veins or not, Hiashi," Karasu spat, surprising the Hyuga head more with the use of his name than his tone, as he knew that they had not been properly introduced.
Karasu didn't wait for Hinata to depart, instead taking on his dragon form and launching himself into the sky. He flew high into the air to ensure he'd be easily mistaken for a bird as he circled the Leaf Village, wishing he hadn't lost his temper on his mother's father. After a few minutes, he realized that his mother's family was still watching him with their Byakugan. He let out a heavy sigh before descending back to the Hyuga compound.
Several members of the clan swarmed as his feet touched the ground, their bodies tense and ready for battle. Karasu let loose a wave of the dragons' combined chakras, causing every one of the shinobi gathered to instinctively step back. Hiashi stared at him with a resentful gaze as the chakra washed over him. Before anyone could move against him, Karasu once more closed with Hiashi, his hands covered in white flames again. Rather than attack, Karasu placed his hands on either side of his grandfather's face.
"Is this proof enough?" Karasu whispered before pouring his own memories of his mother into Hiashi's mind, forcing him to look upon the daughter he had forsaken.
The Hyuga head's eyes streamed tears as Karasu showed him Shirohime's fate at the hands of the Foundation. Karasu felt his own rage and hatred mirrored in the old man's heart as he beheld his daughter's death. Karasu ended the genjutsu after showing Hiashi that he had avenged his mother, taking a step back to let the man breathe.
"I am sorry. If it were not for my harsh judgement of my eldest daughter's views of our clan's disputes between branches, she might still be alive and you wouldn't have had to endure that kind of hell as a child," Hiashi said after regaining some of his composure.
"She wasn't killed for being Hyuga, she was killed for being with my father. The foundation only killed her to get me," Karasu replied, an edge of anger to his voice.
"I am glad you avenged her, though I am of a mind to resurrect Danzo and kill him a thousand times over for what his men did to the two of you," Hiashi answered with the same edge in his voice.
"The Foundation is finished, father, Karasu and his team have spent the last sixteen years tracking down every facility they ever used and dismantling it. Naruto has confirmed it," Hinata told her father.
"Still want to tear him apart myself," Hiashi muttered, earning a disapproving look from both his daughters.
"Now that we are not going after each other's throats, why don't you join me for tea, Karasu? I would like to hear more about the daughter I so foolishly banished," Hiashi said, his tone firm yet kind.
"I would like that," Karasu answered.
"I think she would have liked it, too," he added in a whisper as he followed his grandfather into the house.
