Summery: They had a fight. Can Inuyasha save Kagome from doing something drastic? ONESHOT.

Scream Your Heart Out

"Spiteful wench!" Inuyasha spat. Kagome grew wide-eyed but then became angry.

"I hate you, you dumb son of a bitch!" Kagome quipped. Then, before she knew it, a hard slap knocked her on her butt. Sango, Miroku, Shippo, Keade, and even Kirara were in shocked silence.

Kagome looked up at an angry Inuyasha, tears in her eyes, shocked. She felt something warm spill down her cheek and she lifted her hand to it, looking at her fingers. They were smeared with blood. Kagome looked back up at Inuyasha, tears falling down her cheeks.

Inuyasha no longer looked angry. He looked at his red palm then back at Kagome, horrified.

"Kagome, I-" Inuyasha started.

"SHUT UP!" Kagome screamed. "Sit, boy!"

Inuyasha didn't even try to fight the pull. He hit the ground harder than usual. Kagome stood up and stomped on his back as hard as she could before kicking his side. Inuyasha grunted and Kagome sobbed, running out the door into the night.

Kagome ran through the village, into the forest, tears falling, wetting her cheeks. She ran as fast as she could through the forest, tripping numerous times on tree roots and rocks. She ran until she came to a cliff and she stopped, walking away from the edge and sitting on a log.

Kagome put her head in her hands and sobbed.

Kagome knew she would make him angry saying his mother was a bitch, but that didn't stop her from saying it. He had it coming.

Still, she had been out of line. It was just another one of their dumb arguments. Kagome hated him for hitting her. She didn't understand. He was supposed to protect her from harm, not bring harm to her.

Kagome though about this song she had heard called Rooftops by Lostprophets, an American band. It said, "Standin' on the rooftops, everybody scream your heart out."

So that's what she did. Kagome stood, threw her head back, and screamed her heart out. She poured all the anger and sadness into that scream. It was long and rang out through the forest. She finally closed her mouth and dropped her head.

Kagome looked at the edge of the cliff. She was sick of it all. Naraku, Inuyasha, all of it. Kagome walked to the ledge and looked down. It didn't look like a long fall and Kagome contemplated jumping, then she backed away.

"What the hell am I thinking?" Kagome thought and then she paused. "But, I bet he would like it."

Kagome walked to the edge, looking towards the sky. She spread her arms and closed her eyes.

"If you care, Inuyasha, save me." she whispered, leaning over. Gravity took over and she began to fall. Suddenly, a hand clamped around her wrist. She heard a grunt and opened her eyes. She met Inuyasha's frantic gaze. Inuyasha pulled her up and wrapped his arms around her middle. He fell back on his butt, pulling Kagome with him so she ended up straddling him. He cried into her chest.

"I'm s-so s-sorry I h-hit you." Inuyasha said, holding onto her as if she might float over the edge like paper. Kagome lowered her head onto Inuyasha's shoulder and tangled her hands in his hair. A tear slid down her cheek as she whispered comforting words. All was forgiven.

When Inuyasha stopped sobbing, he lifted his head and looked into Kagome's gaze. He tilted her head up and licked the blood off her chin delicately before kissing her gently, running his tongue along her lips

"Thank god." Kagome thought to herself. "He does care."
