Final chapter
Max vs Cera part 2
Everyone was completely speechless by the sight beheld by them all, down below Max found himself completely surrounded by all 6 forms of Erwin with no way of escape! It was already plenty of trouble to deal with Erwin one on one, but to face all 6 of his power simultaneously was both out off the question and a recipe for disaster!
"Cera's brought out all 6 dinosaur forms from just Erwin!?" Zoe exclaimed as she grabbed her pigtails in utter shock.
"I…don't believe it….." Rex breathed unable to comprehend what he was seeing.
The same went for everyone else who was staring speechlessly or in awe, "I always knew she was special and gifted…but this….this is something else…." Was all Lunensis could say, to see Cera accomplish what he never could do or even thought possible, he knew she could fill in his shoes and surpass him someday but this completely blew his expectations out of the water!
On the other side though, the immense pressure given off by the menacing aura of all 6 dinosaurs against Chomp who stood alone, was enough to make anyone crack, the fact Max hadn't given in yet meant he was brave and still able to hold it together or perhaps he was foolish enough not to recognise fear.
"I…Is this considered cheating?" Ed gulped as he pointed out weakly at what was going on down below, "I mean assist moves are one thing but this….This has to be cheating right!?" He shivered.
"Regardless, she now has Max cornered and completely surrounded!" Ursula gritted her teeth tensely, if there was any time to be really pressured and to have the odds and deck stacked against you there was no better time to consider than now!
Despite seeing friends pitted against one another again, this time Dr Z couldn't bring himself to enjoy it, "I can't believe I'm actually going to say this but…." he gulped and sweated profusely, "M…Maybe it was best that I lost to Max after all….." He was starting to wonder if he could actually take the crown from Cera should she won, but since there was no way Max could win at all it was starting to make him feel that him becoming league champion may actually be impossible and hopeless after all. As much as he likes unfair odds even he didn't wish something as big as this kind of overkill on his enemies, he much preferred a little sport and for his foes to put up some fight at least but this was too much even for him.
Soon various comments arose from the people of not just Saurus City but the entire world.
"He's done! No way can anyone handle that kind of power all alone!"
"Any hopes or chances of him being able to win are now rapidly diminishing! Just what will he do to respond against this!?" Several of the audience cried out in worry or anxiety.
Though there were soon others that thought differently, "But still! Just shows Commander Cera is unbeatable!"
"Maybe even more than Lunensis ever was!"
"Go Cera!"
"Our new Dinosaur Queen!"
Hearing those comments and cheers made Dr Z real bitter at that, not just because everyone was showing Cera favouritism above him but also because she had the power to back it up, a level of power even he couldn't compete with, and how envious it made him as he bit into a handkerchief and pulled so hard it tore in half before he screamed in agony right into his hands!
At the families' side, as they all stared with wide4ned eyes of bewilderment, "Unbelievable….." Lunensis broke the silence as they all looked to him seeing the greatly shocked expression one his face.
"L…Lunensis?" Aki asked him wondering what was up.
"Is something the matter?" Spike asked feeling he may know something about this.
"For as long as I remember, I trained hard to master every dinosaur element there is, their strengths, physical capabilities and weaknesses." He said rather seriously as he recalled having his 6 dinosaur partners which he trained and bonded with over many years in his career as a duelist and they took it even to the days of the shadow war, "And I achieved that with my 6 partners…..but when they were eon the verge of death…I transferred their spirits into Erwin to ensure they would live on within him." He said, "But Cera….she's been able to tap into a level of power even I couldn't achieve, nor even thought was possible. She was able to reach into their very souls….." He breathed as he found himself leaning in closer from his seat.
A sight Maia had never seen her husband ever do in his entire life as a duelist. For anyone else to make her husband do that must make them truly exceptional, but for it to come from their very own daughter was something she never thought possible.
Looking closer and recognising something familiar from each of Erwin's forms, "Each of those dinosaurs….it's as if….my old friends…..are back….." He breathed, realising while Erwin usually used the movements and abilities of the other elements the forms he took were merely imitations of the original dinosaurs that gave their lives up for him as they passed down their very essence for him to carry on. But now, the way they moved, acted and behaved was almost as though he was looking at them once again in the flesh, down to the smallest detail of behaviour from snorting or even grunting. For his own daughter to have brought back his old companions, Lunensis felt his heart deeply moved, proud and amazed beyond belief.
Back at the battle, Max and Chomp found themselves completely surround on all ends by each of Eoraptor's forms, while he had been prepared to handle every one of them one on one, to go against all of them at once was something he never accounted for or even thought possible. As thought his perfect plan was falling apart and so was his composure, "C…Cera…." He croaked as he weakly pointed out at her as she smirked at him confidently, "H…How did you?"
"It's rather simple Max." She replied more than happy to answer his question as she expected to, "Remember how Miku helped bring out the power of elemental fusion within Chomp and the others?" She reminded him as he nodded recalling how whenever Miku bonded to each of their dinosaurs and powered them up she was also slowly drawing out their hidden elemental energies deep without enabling them to advance naturally on their own without the dino tector's, "Well, in preparation for the final match of the League, I wanted to make sure I could fight with everything I had." She said looking down to her arm and then gripping her hand tightly, "At the same time, I felt the everything I knew at the time may not be enough, so had Miku do the same to Erwin, to see if she could unlock any hidden potential within him." Looking ahead to all 6 dinosaurs as they roared out one after the other which made her smile with satisfaction, "While we didn't achieve elemental fusion like the rest of you, we did unlock a new power unlike any other before!" She declared, "And as you proved just now, I was right that my everything before wouldn't be enough to secure a win against you. Which leads us to where we are here and now."
As Max began to process that all in, despite feeling overwhelmed with mixed emotions he was just able to get his thoughts straightened out so as not to fall into panic or confusion, "I….I don't know whether that's like a cheat code or anything….but I have to say….that's….pretty awesome what you found…." He laughed feeling rather happy for her to have found her true potential and gift all on her own, and the face he helped inspire her to do so. "Still…." He then gulped nervously as he looked at things from another perspective, "Chomp….maybe we bit off more than we can chew….." Taylor shuddered looking around to find that he was surrounded on all ends, each one of them snarling or growling at him threateningly or menacingly. Fighting them all off one on one and one after the other was hard enough, to go up against them like this….for the first time in the league he was starting to doubt himself or even feel tempted to give up.
"What's the matter Max? You wanted my very best and now you've got it!" Cera cried out to him rather seriously and not wanting him to back out just because of something unexpected, "Plus you did say once to my dad when you battled him you wouldn't hesitate to fight a hundred dinosaurs if the situation demanded it. You're not regretting your decision and thinking of backing out now are you?" Which she hoped wouldn't be the case otherwise it'd be a total letdown, "You've already come this far, and you passed the entrance test being able to handle yourself against all 6 of my eoraptor's powers. Now the real challenge begins now!" She declared as the 6 dinosaurs roared in unison which made Max and Chomp tense as they felt overwhelmed by their combined presence! "Plus you did say you wanted a challenge and a most memorable match to end off the finals didn't you?" She added at the end.
"Can't believe I'm starting to wish I failed this test like the ones back home…." Max thought to himself deep down, but then again, it was only because Cera felt really pushed and took this battle seriously that she went all out like this. Something none of her other opponents could ever do, so in a way, he was special to her. As he thought about it even more, "But still." He then smirked as Chomp's fear was slowly changed into excitement and courage as he roared out bravely, "Heh, I have no regrets at all! To face off against an opponent like you, a whole horizon to explore and battle to experience! The D in D Team stands for danger and we won't learn anything new without braving risks and adventure! So bring it on Cera! We'll take you on fair and square!" He called out and punched forward much to everyone's surprise as they saw him maintaining confidence even in the face of such overwhelming odds. WHilke others were amazed at his strength of spirit others wondered if he cracked under madness and is trying to put up a facade.
Despite what everyone thought, Cera couldn't help but smile, sensing pure bravery from Max and not overconfidence, "Heh, good answer Max, and I expected just that from you." She always knew his positive spirit and outlook on life always helped him to make the best of every situation, no wonder he was always such a great leader and inspiration for the D Team and her. Thus it was only fair she responded from the true feelings at the bottom of he heart too. "Very well then, consider it brought!" She called out loudly as her dinosaurs all roared out acknowledging Max's challenge and were willing to rise to it, "Nothing personal, but like you I really want to win the championship. So I do hope you'll forgive me and hope you hold nothing against me for this." Said Cera after that to give him a heads up that she won't hold anything back.
Max too felt the same as she did, "No worries, in fact hope you have no hard feelings when I beat you Cera!" He cried out much to everyone's surprise that he wasn't just demanding Cera's best but also believed he could surpass it!
"Heheh, tough talk, time to see if you can back it up!" Cera chuckled as she threw out her arm! "Attack!" She commanded which spurred her 6 dinosaurs into action as they rushed forward towards Chomp!
"Take it to them Chomp!" Max fearlessly responded Chomp roared out in response, refusing to yield and standing strong despite overwhelming odds!
The scene was staged for a violent prehistoric battle, as everyone was ready to bear witness this momentous event in their planet's history! Unable to take their eyes off for even a second, having come this far they had to see it through to the end!
Styrcaosaurus was first to wage an attack as he charged towards Chomp! He locked horns with the larger ceratopsian, and like before the struggle didn't last long as he has beginning to be pushed back! But this time he wasn't alone….
"Chomp! Behind you!" Max warned as Amargasaurus snuck in from behind and bit him hard on his back where the armour didn't protect him! Chomp roared in pain as Styraco seized the chance to flip his head up and expose his neck as the smaller ceratopsian slashed his horn at his throat making him roar in pain! Angered, Chomp swung his head with heavy force which knocked styracosaurs off his feet before doing a bronco buck at Amargasaurus' chest which replied him! But right when that was done, Megaraptor leap into back and claw rake him violently making him roar in excruciating pain! "Shake him off!" Max cried as Chomp leapt around, bucking and thrashing but to no avail as the raptor kept his balance and shifted easily with Chomp's movements!
Only when Chomp decided to stop, drop and roll was when the raptor leapt off him to avoid getting crushed under his massive weight! He didn't have enough time to rest on his laurels as Chomp felt the ground tremble beneath him after stopping his roll, looking ahead he saw saurophaganax charging towards him and raising up his foot ready to stomp on his head! He managed to turn his head away in time, barely avoiding getting his skull crushed as the ground cracked on impact! As Chomp regained his balance the giant carnivore shot a stream of fire right in his face making him roar in pain!
"AH!" Max gasped before seeing Saurophaganax break away upon realising Stegosaurus was coming at him from behind!" Behind you Chomp! Watch out!" He cried out as the armoured trike turned around to see Stego rattle his tail before swinging out the thagomizer at him! Chomp couldn't stop it in time so he thrusted his horns out, causing sparks to fly as the spikes and horns repelled one another! But just when that was over with, Lambeosaurus rushed him from his flanks, ramming him right in the side while styracosaurs struck him from the other end in a pincer formation!
Looking closer Max could see the 6 dinosaurs were maintaining a tight formation to ensure Chomp couldn't escape their combined attack range while also keeping themselves distanced enough so they wouldn't easily get hit by friendly fire or in the crossfire of one another's moves. "Urgh…man this really is something…." Max grunted finding wave after wave of attacks coming at him non stop and giving him no room to plan or think, Cera really had a solid strategy here and she had no doubt been planning this for some time…. Yes despite the odds, Max was always bale to see the bright side to ever bad situation, "But still…..Hehe…." He chuckled finding this new experience to be rather thrilling, and all the more exciting should he be able to overcome it, turning predicament to opportunity! Chomp felt his partner's feelings resonate with him once more as he roared out in defiance at said overwhelming odds.
Everyone who could see the duel unfolding widened their eyes or blinked in surprise, "Max is actually having fun in this situation!?" Zoe gasped in surprise.
"Heh, well that's Max for you." Rex snickered unsurprised before cheering out for him and Chomp, "Do your best you guys!"
"Cera you too!" Zoe couldn't help but add on, as others from both their families and even the captains began cheering for them both for a good fight.
"Keep it together Max! You're doing good!" Spike then called to his son, despite having some doubts he remained firm that his son would not only pull through but prevail! "You've handled them all before and you know how they fight! You can still beat them!"
Max widened his eyes as he realised what his dad told him, "Y…Yeah they're right! I know exactly how your dino's forms move and attack, I know I'll be able to stay a step ahead of them still!" He said firmly with confidence.
Others though didn't take it with the same enthusiasm he and his supporters did.
"That kid's lost his mind! NO way he has any chance now!" Ed called out, "I mean any ordinary guy would throw in the towel or faint at the sight of something that's clearly impossible!"
"Maybe the pressure's gotten to him!" Zander croaked.
"Cera! No way can he win against you now!" Blaze cheered her on.
Raina grinned with energy and anticipation, "She's already Commander, can't wait to see her add Queen of the League to her list of achievements!"
At the battle all 6 dinosaurs surrounded Chomp on all ends, as they charged forth in an effort to box him in and close what could be the jaws of defeat on him, Chomp narrowed his eyes as he identified the smallest of openings, right at where megaraptor was as the wind dinosaur pounced at him with his arms and legs stretched ride open as he intended to land on his back again!
"Now Chomp!" He yelled out, prompting Chomp to charge towards Megaraptor! The smaller raptor surprised by this, wasn't able to handle the attack head on as Chomp rammed him from underneath, stopping him and throwing him to the ground and escaping the circle as the other dinosaurs crashed into one another, shaken up upon collision as they staggered about groaning dazed and disoriented!
"What the!?" Cera widened her eyes surprised he could figure out a weak spot she didn't notice, when she had planned to pile the pressure on him and prevent him from thinking straight.
"Alright! They're off balance! Now's our chance!" Max grinned seizing his chance, inspiring Chomp to charge head on!
Charge and ram amargo and collapse on lambeo
Megaraptor leap at side but chomp change to face and scoop and fling at Saurophaganax's face which shoot fire at him only to hit mega instead
Then Chomp knock him down
Anticipate styraco come in but dodge and then hit stego instead
"Hey, he's actually not doing too badly out there….." Raina breathed in surprise, her expectations surpassed once again, which she should have been used to by now but just never could.
"I think he may actually have a chance now!" Aki smiled with hope.
"Go Max! Go!" Zoe cheered at the top of her lungs.
Rex however, remained rather pessimistic as he folded his arms and narrowed his eyes, "Yeah, for now…." Was all he could say, because knowing Cera, no way would she let a minor setback like this throw her off her gaze, plus he suspected they hadn't yet seen her use her real power yet…
And as usual, he was right….."I see, you've been paying close attention and you've studied them quite carefully." Cera noted, seeing how Max knew how to anticipate where and when each of her dinosaurs will strike, anticipating which dino she'd use in sequence after one of them has made their move, and knowing the right weak points to aim for in turn while also recognising moments when they would be off balance.
Max tensed hearing her say that, because it was already hard enough to keep them all in check and track of their movements, which could only mean…..Cera would no doubt try something more if she expected what he did.
Unfortunately she knew just how to do that, "Now for something you won't expect!" Max gritted his teeth and Chomp braced himself, but nothing could prepare them for what she had in store! Looking to megaraptor and styracosaurus they nodded at her as they knew the cue, "Lightning razor wind!" She commanded as Megaraptor called out a tornado from biting wind, which Styracosaurus charged up with a lightning strike! Fused with thunderous winds, megaraptor whipped his tail through it sending powerful lightning fast thunder wind blades at Chomp which not only rushed out faster than he could react but struck him with immense force! The shock of thunder combined with the swift sharpness of the wind blades as he roared out in pain to Max's shock and horror!
"Oh no!"
Everyone gasped in disbelief, "I don't believe it!" Lunensis cried out.
"Incredible!" Was all Kaze could gasp, while normally reserved and quiet this time around he couldn't contain himself as all kinds of emotions he never thought possible were erupting from him one after the other!
"You see that!?" Ursula and Dr Z both exclaimed as the Alpha gang's jaws hung speechlessly!
Max stuttered backwards and pointed out weakly at his opponent, "Y…You can use Fusion moves Cera!?" He exclaimed choking on his breath.
She smirked in response, "Indeed I can Max, and in a way I'm able to do it through 1 dinosaur." She smiled as she eyed both Saurophaganax and Amargasaurus who nodded at her, "That was just an appetiser, hope you're still hungry for more because allow me to move on to the main course!" She called out.
Max gulped nervously turning pale, "Uh oh…." He clearly wasn't hungry for this!
"Mist sword!" Cera commanded as Saurophaganax and Amargasaurus called forth Overheat and water sword together! The fire blade blending with the water sword which the sauropod then swung with full force towards Chomp!
"WAAAH! Run Chomp!" Max yelled out as Chomp leapt out of the way in time, but just barely as he could feel the steam and sharpness of the blade barely graze the tip of his tail as it slammed down on the ground cracking the very earth underneath while the shockwave sent him back a couple of feet away from the impact! "Man….That was way too close….." Max panted exhaustedly, narrowly escaping the impact as the sword exploded into vapour leaving behind charred ground and cracked eart result of the boiling hot blade!
"Ack….My heart….can't take so much of this…." Dr Z croaked clutching his chest before passing and fainting out on the floor to the alarm of his family!
"Hang in there Dr Z!"
"Grampa!
"Can someone get us a defibrillator!" Steve called out waving out his hands hoping to get the attention of some staff. Luckily they had one on standby, and just in the nick of time as Helga was about to do CPR on him herself.
"Clear!" The medic called out as he shocked Dr Z bringing him back to the world of the living!
"ACK! I'm awake!"
Down below Max wasn't as lucky as Cera piled the pressure on! "Now for dessert!" Cera grinned which made Max wave out his hands worriedly.
"A….Actually that won't be necessary! We're plenty full now!" He cried in a panic.
Cera grinned back at him, "Heh, sorry but I must insist you try!" She insisted as she gave the order for her next combo! "Egg machine gun!" Lambeosaurus and Stegosaurus glowed in sync, as Lambeo summoned the Oviraptor trio which fired out a barrage of rotten eggs while Stego slammed into the ground creating massive chunks of earth that combined into a huge boulder! The eggs pelted the boulder which sent it flying towards Chomp before it exploded into a barrage of stone bullets which hit their mark on Chomp!
"WAAAAAHH!" Max gasped as Chomp held his head forward using his shield crest and armour to try and resist as best he could, but it was just too much for the young triceratops as he roared in pain and was knocked back badly "Chomp!" Max could only watch helplessly as his partner was sent crashing through some rocks and coming to a stop as he lay on the ground. "Chomp…." Max could only look over him with an expression of distraught on his face, it lightened slightly when he saw the trike was still breathing normally but no doubt exhausted to the brink. Turning around he tensed, feeling overwhelmed as all 6 of Erwin's forms stood before him roaring and snarling menacingly at him, an immense wave of pressure coming over him as though he was slowly sinking in quick sand with no way out…..
"Max and Chomp have been driven farther than into a corner!" Raina exclaimed to the rest of the other captains' bewilderment, "In fact now they're both stuck in a deep pit of trouble from which there is no escape! This match may soon be over!"
"Unreal…." Rod and Laura both breathed out speechlessly, a sentiment shared by Rex and Zoe who widened their eyes and gaped speechlessly.
"I never thought Max, after all our battles we went through, would be beaten this badly…." Ed gulped feeling really relieved to no longer be in the league himself.
"I don't know whether to feel insulted or overjoyed that he's getting his just desserts by one of his own….." Zander twiddled his fingers together feeling really conflicted.
The one who didn't enjoy this most of all from the Alpha gang was Dr Z, "Still….the fact that we need to go up against that red haired radical Cera to be the best….is that even possible now?" He sighed lowering his head in shame and losing all hope, "If Max couldn't win….then what chance will I ever have of getting my crown now…." He sniffled on the verge of genuine tears at his dreams being crushed before his very eyes.
"Dr Z…." Ursula sighed pitying him as she patted him gently on the shoulder though it did little to soothe the ache in his very heart, a crushed dream would easily break one's will and emotional wounds like that wouldn't be easy to recover from.
At the duel, feeling confident in her victory now more than ever, and having driven Max into a corner, "You fought really well Max, I'll give you that. But now it looks like it's over." She said firmly with all 6 of Erwin's forms staring down at Chomp, who was panting exhaustedly, with all the damage and energy exerted just trying to either evade or hang on, he was barely holding himself together and felt on the verge of losing consciousness, the temptation of closing his eyes and giving into his own fatigue was tearing right at his weakened resolve.
"Cera….." Max panted exhaustedly from the intensity of the match himself. No one in the League had ever pushed him to this extent or even came close, seeing Cera and everything she set before him, made him feel so insignificant and how winning against her may actually be a pipe dream now. He was beginning to lose hope or the drive to fight on, his spirit barely holding together after narrowly managing to defend himself and escape defeat which was now closing in on him and its' jaws ready to devour him and Chomp whole….defeta that was being delivered by one of his closest comrades ever…..
Yet despite that, Cera didn't wish to put Max down too much, after all he was the one who motivated her to try her absolute hardest, so she had to give him credit for that much at least. She then smiled lightly which contrasted her current vicious actions, "Don't feel too bad though, you really tried and you made me and Erwin try our absolute hardest. And to show you my upmost respect, I'll make this as painless as possible while giving you my best move of all as your proper sendoff." She giggled rather ominously which made Max gulp anxiously as he would soon be facing down her strongest move of all, "After all, you were my inspiration for a long time now, you deserve nothing less than that." She thought to herself seeing there could be no better way to end things off, as all 6 of Erwin;s forms glowed together in unison as they were prepared to unleash their ultimate move as one unified force!
Max tensed as Chomp struggled to get back up to his feet though really weakly this time, "Urk…." He found himself sandwiched between a rock and really hard place.
All kinds of mixed comments arose from both worry and anxiety to anticipation and excitement, "This could be it!"
"Here comes the final blow!"
"So that's it?"
"It's over now?" Needless to say the end was near and everyone was clear in agreement that no doubt Cera would be the one to take the crown as their first champion in many years.
"Max….." Maia couldn't help but sigh feeling very bad for the boy despite all he went through, though who could blame him?nIn the end no one could fight against such might after all, "But still….good on Cera….." She then smiled still proud nevertheless of her daughter's incredible performance.
Lunensis nodded in agreement, "Yes, they both really fought well with honour and fairly….so in the end it was still a good battle. One worthy of the finals and to remember by." The other parents could see the bright side to this as Lunensis brought it up, though it didn't make it any less easier for them all to take in to see Max be beaten back to badly and rather brutally.
But just before as Max was about to actually give up and accept his loss, a sudden thought crossed his mind, one which he entertained for a little while before grinning and laughing out in amusement, "Hehehehe….Hahahahahah!"
"Huh?" Cera blinked confused while everyone else widened their eyes in surprise.
"Is Max….laughing?" Rex asked surprised.
"Has the pressure gotten to him he's gone nuts for real!?" The Alpha trio grasped their heads thinking he finally cracked under pressure, they know they would if they were up against such overwhelming odds themselves. As to why he hadn't surrendered yet was something they couldn't understand.
Despite everyone's thoughts, Max paid them no heed then looked towards his rival and no doubt one of his closest ever friends, "Cera, you're truly the best you know that?" He said with upmost sincerity.
His red haired rival blinked her eyes surprised at Max's comment, "H…Huh? I am?" She pointed to herself in confusion clearly not expecting this, if it was part of a ploy to distract her it was working quite well.
Max nodded answering her, "You're really strong and though the odds are obviously stacked way against me…..I don't care because this is like the best thing ever!" He said with energy in his tone, "Not only are you the greatest challenge me and Chomp have ever faced, but you've also become one of our best friends of all." He said as he remembered all the experiences he and the D Team shared together with Cera the day they found her in the woods on the outskirts of Sanjo City and how their entire world had grown that much larger since she was made part of their family, those truly were the best times of his life, "From the day we first met, to our many adventures together and for our bond that we've built up together. Meeting you was the best thing that ever happened to the D Team. For that we'll always be thankful." He added at the end and smiled showing no hard feelings or regrets despite his current situation, "I'll always remember that and be sure to keep that in my heart for as long as I live and to pass down those inspirations and experiences as long as I live and breathe." He promised her.
"Hahaha, I'll be sure to always remember that Max, your words truly touch my heart." Cera laughed before smiling a little seriously at her brunette friend, "But in all honesty, it's you and your friends who are the remarkable ones, you deserve it more than I do."
He blinked his eyes in surprise, "R…Really?" He asked pointing to herself.
She nodded answering him, "As much as Dr Ancient played a role in saving the dinosaurs from extinction and while Dr Z had the innovation to explore the potential of how far humanity and dinosaurs can go, it was you and Chomp who deserved the biggest credit of all." She said with upmost sincerity, "Believe it or not are the true key to this future being what it is." She explained, "Had it not been for your fateful meeting, you both wouldn't have become true friends and made the D Team what it is today. Built upon with courage, wisdom and compassion."
Max gasped, thinking about it Cera did make a really good point there. From when he first met Chomp and bonded with him, said example was then passed down to Zoe and Rex. After that when he would depart for the future, he would be the one to ensure Dr Z's ideals were made in the right way, so that bonds between human and dinosaurs acted as the very foundation their future would be built upon. So that mankind would walk alongside with dinosaurs as equals and to ensure they would never be misused as mere tools. On top of that, the Fossil League being the symbol of that unity, to bring everyone together with smiles through dino duelling, was now truly back as its' purpose was fulfilled upon its revival here and now.
"Wow Cera….that's just….really sweet." Was all Max could say feeling appreciation and the gratitude in Cera's words as everyone else felt deeply moved too.
At the Alpha Gang's side they didn't take it that well unfortunately, "Grr! She likes them over us!? She thinks they deserve the glory more than we do!? Unacceptable!" Dr Z growled feeling his zeal and resolve reawakened within him all thanks to his ego and pride unwilling to take such an insult lying down.
"Yeah! We worked our butts off to bring the dinos back from the grave! We deserve the credit more!" Ursula yelled shaking out her fist in anger.
"Cos without us the brats would never have met their dinosaurs in the first place!" Zander growled feeling insulted.
Ed scratched his chin in thought, "Technically isn't it Dr Ancient who should be getting the credit since we only tagged along?" He wondered.
"He does have a good point there you know?" Rod had to agree with Ed there as Laura nodded, only for the 3 of them to get a swift rebuttal from Dr Z, Zander and Ursula!
"Butt out! You wouldn't understand a thing!" They yelled fiercely towards them making them yelp in surprise!
"Eeep!"
"It was you and Chomp who discovered the possibility of dinosaurs and humans being able to walk side as equals." Cera meanwhile continued as she said so in a manner where Chomp and Max truly deserved the honour she was bestowing upon them, "How they'll be there to help shoulder our burdens and to take each other to heights neither species could ever attain alone. That's why I used the absolute best of my abilities to give him a battle worthy of his stature." She explained before looking ahead to see her parents looking upon her in the seats and to the captains who were also her great teachers, "As well as fighting for the honour of my friends and family who helped support me to get here." She told him.
Max widened his eyes at her words, feeling rather impacted by what she just said, before smiling understandingly, "There can be no greater reason to fight than what you just said Cera." He agreed with her, "And believe it or not, I'm doing the same too." The day he took his first breath and saw his parents' loving faces, when he first met Zoe and Rex, growing up loving dinosaurs and fossil hunts which his father took him on till finally meeting Chomp to their adventures in the present and through time and space along with meeting Cera who helped stay by them and guide them through thick and thin through the past and all the way to the future. He had all of them and his experiences to thank him for this very moment right now, before looking towards Cera, "On top of all that, I'm fighting for you too." He said to her surprise.
"For….me?" She pointed to herself this time taken aback.
"Yeah, you helped guide us through the toughest of times when we needed it most. Helping to expand and explore our potential and possibilities, giving us great dreams and the unyielding drive to follow them through. Traits and principles we'll hold dear to us and ensure they stay alive through the years to come!" He called out with great determination, showing Cera the same respect she showed him, "It's thanks you and everyone, that me and my friends were to make it here to this point in time and to stand before you in the finals." As he said that, Chomp felt inspired by the pure righteous spirit of his partner as he opened his eyes and stood firmly up again and let out a powerful defiant roar against all 6 of his opponents!
"No way!" Cera exclaimed along with Erwin who stuttered at Chomps tenacity, with all the damage they inflicted so far they didn't believe he could muster the energy to fight back let alone stand up once more!
His determination truly surprised everyone present as well.
"Chomp got up!?"
"He can still fight!?"
"Incredible!" Hua, Marina and Blaze gasped.
It was then that the families and even the Alpha gang cheered him on seeing hope relit once more, "That's the way Max! Keep going!"
"It's not over yet!"
"Take it to her Max!"
Upon hearing their wishes resonate within him, "I promised not to lose for everyone's sakes too! I won't let their efforts be in vain!" He declared making a vow not to lose to Cera or anyone, for everyone who helped him make it this far, "Get ready yourself Cera! Since you showed me your best, Chomp and I are going to respond in turn with all our might!" He declared as he thrusted out his arm and yelled at the top of his lungs! "Go!" As he did so, a bright golden aura illuminated around him and Chomp as he yelled out at the top of his lungs in sync with Chomp's roar! "AAAAARRRGHHH!" The 2 of them exploded in a golden aura of light to everyone's shock and bewilderment.
"Whoa!" Cera started stuttered back as everyone had to cover their eyes from the blinding radiance!
"What now!?"
"Urgh..."
As the light began to slowly die down and everyone could see again, they got the biggest surprise of their lives!
"Huh!?"
"No way!" Everyone stared in compete utter speechlessness as they bore witness to Chomp in his armoured form but also awakened as well! He roared out displaying tremendous might and unleashing a powerful wave across the field which sent everyone back ups receiving it!
"Oh yeah! Chomp! Now we're talking ultimate power!" Max cheered with his spirit fired up more than ever with the Super Armoured Triceratops roaring out powerfully to the heavens and bursting with tremendous might like no other!
Cera could not believe her eyes, "That form!?" She had only laid eyes on it one time and one time only….never in her wildest dreams had she ever believed she'd lay eyes on it again.
"He used it again!?"
"Unbelievable!" Zoe and Rex both cried out.
"How did that kid unlock that power again!?" Ursula gasped.
"Yeah! No fair! Why can't we do that!?" Ed and Zander both whined.
"Incredible…." Dr Z breathed in amazement before widening his eyes and grinning maniacally, "If I could find a way to achieve that….Hehehehe…." He cackled rubbing his palms together as big plans for the future began to hatch in his mind.
Meanwhile back in the present, everyone erupted into deep gasps along with applause of excitement, this League was truly better than anything they had ever had in their world's history.
Cera knew this too, as she stepped back with Erwin starting to actually feel fear and anxiety for the first time not just in this match but for the league as a whole! "That power, we only saw it one time…..Against Goma…." She breathed in awe as that very memory played over and over again within her mind, "That power, we used it together to defeat Goma and the Shadow Empire once and for all…." She then smiled feeling honoured and grateful for this moment, "And now I'm facing it…..heh….can't say I expected this but I did wonder what it would be like to take on that power the day I first saw it."
"Hehehe, be careful what you wish for Cera because you just might get it!" Max chuckled as he was finally ready to cut loose! "Attack Chomp! Show them the strength of our spirit!" Max cheered on his closest partner with Cera following suit!
"Don't back down Erwin! Let's give it to them!" She cheered her 6 dinosaurs on!
All 6 of her dinosaurs glowed in their respective elemental auras before blaming out 6 attacks at him! Burst of flames, lightning strike, falling water, leaf blades, biting wind and spike arrows! And yet as the attacks made contact Chomp remained unfazed and shrugged them off to her shock! In her stunned disbelief, Chomp swung out his head like a sledge hammer while also swinging his tail out in a complete 360 degree turn which sent them all flying away! "Oh no!" Cera cried out in worry, but also amazed at how well Max was able to take her attacks at once!
Now the stadium was alive with cheers and support as the match's intensity reached astonishing heights!
"Aw yeah!" Dr Owen pumped up his arms!
"That's awesome! You're the best ever!" Rod cheered.
"Keep it up Max!" Aki cried.
Cera's supporters were beginning to worry about her chances now, "I can't believe Max has tipped the tides once more!" Raina cried out.
"Don't quit Cera!"
"You can still win this!" Lunensis and Maia cried out not giving up on their daughter just yet.
That faith was soon to be put to the test, "Now for something YOU won't expect!" Max grinned feeling a new power resonating between him and Chomp, he was ready to give her a taste of her own medicine! Taking out 2 move cards, "Chomp! Combine flash frill with Lightning axe!" He cried out as Chomp surged with immense thunderous might and to everyone's shock!
"What!?" Cera widened her eyes as her heart skipped a beat.
"A combo move!?" Reese gasped.
"With just one dinosaur!?" Craig cried out in alarm.
Everyone, including Cera's own dinosaurs were stunned by the unexpected development, as Chomp leapt into the air and sprouted out his thunder axe before cloaking himself in electrical aura before spinning towards Cera and her team.
Trying to regain her composure, Cera stuttered uneasily as she tried to give out her orders, "F…Fight back with Green whip!" Her dinosaurs were hesitant at first, unsure of whether their moves would be able to cut it against Chomp now, yet they still tried, with Lambeosaurus and Amargasaurus summoning aqua whip and throw whip before both of them merged together to form a giant thorny vine infused with a layer of water as it swung itself towards Chomp!
Unfortunately it did little against the thunderous buzzsaw Chomp had form as it easily shredded through the vine like paper and then smashing right into both her dinosaurs and sending them flying through some trees which crashed down around them!
"AH!" She gasped in alarm at how easily he overcame her fusion move!
"That's the way to do it!" Cretacia cheered clapping and applauding with all her heart
"Cera's barely hanging on now!" Dr Ancient gasped.
"She's getting backed into a corner now!?" Ursula cried in disbelief.
"Never thought I see the day." Craig whistled as he widened his eyes, he was used to surmounting walls, but the one Max erected before him, he truly set the bar there and it could be one no one else may be able to achieve or break down….
Cera was starting to panic but she wouldn't give up, "E….Electric spines! Fast!" The stegosaurus fired out a barrage of spike arrows which were soon conducted by the thunder strike from styracosaurus!
"Lightning strike, with plasma anchor!" Max countered slashing the moves un unison, as Chomp roared out charging up with the power of lightning strike before firing it with rapid succession into a plasma anchor, which easily punched through the arrow barrage and then ensnaring Stegosaurus before swinging him out at styracosaurus! Sending the ceratopsian flying away before slamming the stego on the ground repeatedly before tossing him away at some rocks!
Cera gritted her teeth annoyed, "Alright, then try this on!" She growled, "Tornado fire cannon!" She ordered as Megaraptor summoned forth a large tornado, which Saurophaganax sucked right in as he took a breath and then fired out a gigantic swirling fireball encased with the wind before launching it with full force towards Chomp and Max!
"I'll blast right through that with a 4 move combo!" Max countered to her disbelief!
"F…Four moves!?" Cera stuttered, for once she wished he was kidding but this time she felt he could actually back it up as he took out 4 cards!
"Electric charge!" Max slashed as a bolt of thunder crashed down on him, supercharging Chomp's energy as he roared out fiercely and charged forth into battle! "Now to follow that up with Buzzing spear and Energy bolt!" He declared slashing them in unison! Chomp shot forward like an electric arrow while generating a lightning lance from his head! "And finally, Thunder bazooka!" He yelled at the top of his lungs causing Chomp to leap into the air and spiral like a torpedo which struck right into Megaraptor and Saurophaganax which sent them flying into the rocky outcrop!
"AAARRRGH!" Cera cried as she had to hold out her arms and grace herself from the impacts and shockwaves that occurred from the attacks!
"That was awesome!" Rex pumped up his arms.
"Max is like a runaway train now!" Patrick cried out loudly with a bright smile.
"Nothing's fazing him anymore!" Dr Owen widened his eyes.
"Our son….is there really no end to his limitless potential?" Spike widened his eyes speechlessly and having his very breath taken away.
"I knew he was special the day he first opened his eyes….." Aki teared up as she wiped away a tear from her eye, something which the other parents could feel, for it was through Max that their children were able to grow and develop to become the great people they were today, and they found that path all on their own together without needing their guidance too.
At the battle, feeling more confident in himself than ever and having driven Cera into a corner, "Hehehe, had enough Cera?" Max chuckled feeling pumped up, their positions having been reversed, since he spurred Cera to surpass her limits it was only fair that she be the one to help him surpass himself once more!
This time, having been pushed to the brink Cera had finally had it, "Tch! Okay, that does it….." She clicked her tongue deciding to put her all into this one move, as her 6 dinosaurs emerged from where they all lay before regrouping together against Chomp to make one final stand together as a team! Seeing them all united she smiled knowing this couldn't fail if she had faith and if they truly were as one! "Everyone together now!" She called out as they all roared summoning forth every bit of energy they had left, pooling in everything they could as they glowed in a bright rainbow aura! "Ultimate fusion move!" She yelled at the top of her lungs throwing in every ounce of passion and determination into her final attack! Her dinosaurs fired off in sync magma blaster, lightning strike, sonic blast, emerald garden, hydro cutter and spike arrows as they all merged into a powerful rainbow energy beam!
Everyone gasped in utter amazement at what they just witnessed, "Whoa! That ultimate move!" Rex exclaimed as he recognised it as the one they once used against Seth's Black T Rex and against the Dark Pterosaur! What's even more incredible was Cera did all that with just 1 dinosaur, or 6 in 1!
"Max! Watch out!" Zoe cried worriedly thinking Max could have bitten off more than he could chew this time!
Max however, in face of what may be the strongest move in existence, remained unfazed to their amazement! In response he grinned, unwavered from his path as he faced said challenge head on! "If you're going all the way then so shall we!" He took out his best moves of all and slashed them with all his might! "Gatling sparks with Ultimate thunder!" The 2 strongest lightning moves synced with one another, with Chomp laying out the path he wouldn't stray from which lined up ensuring all 6 dinosaurs were in his line of sight! Chomp rushed forward cloaked in a legendary lightning aura as he met the ultimate attack head on, and even punched through it to everyone's bewliderment and utter amazement!
"AH!" Cera widened her eyes as she realised they couldn't break away now! Chomp struck with full might through the entire group before firing a mighty barrage of gatling sparks through them one by one! Sending them each flying back as they were all overwhelmed in an instant! "NO! Erwin!" Cera cried out in horror and shock as Erwin's final form as the Saurophaganax was struck head on by Ultimate thunder, then being followed by a rampant barrage of thunder strikes from his horns while still being rushed! Till finally Chomp delivered the finishing blow by swinging out his horned head and sending him flying across the battleground before coming to a crash as he roared in pain!
"AAAAAH!" Everyone widened their eyes speechlessly as Chomp stood his ground, panting exhaustedly as that final attack took everything out of him, while it looked like Erwin was down for the count, they had to be absolutely sure because if he was somehow able to withstand that attack and counter them, there was no way they could respond in time.
Max and Chomp were both pushed to their utter brink at this point, as they both gasped for air, covered in scrapes or wounds from the duel, but they still held firmly, the tension in the air thickened heavily making it hard for everyone to breathe, some were even fainting from the suspense and pressure.
Cera stared with widened eyes unable to comprehend what she just witnessed, till she shook her head snapping herself back to reality, "Erwin!" She cried out running to his side, and seeing him still laying down on the ground in a near unconscious state she sighed and closed her eyes admitting defeat, "I….lose….." She breathed, to which her partner heard as he weakly opened his eyes and let out a sad pained grunt. Cera then smiled as she stroked his head gently with compassion, "Thank you Erwin, don't feel bad, you, no we, did our upmost best and yet we still lost, but as a team. And I have no regrets about that." She assured him, "Max simply proved himself our better today, and there will always be next time. But for now, take a nice long rest, you earned it." She told him, satisfied with his perforce today and that was all that mattered above all, as she returned him to his card and all 6 of his forms joined back into them.
"Cera lost….."
"No way…."
"That Max sure was something indeed….."
"Incredible….
Many were disappointed or devastated to see their commander and one of their favourite duelists lose despite holding such an overwhelming advantage in almost every way, but that would soon change…..
Max was stunned by what he just saw, by recalling a dino back it meant only one thing in this tourney, "We….won? We actually did it…." Max stuttered as he soon processed it altogether, before grinning widely with joy and excitement as he leapt up high fiving to the sky! "Ahahahahaha! Chomp! We won!" He laughed out with joyous energy, with Chomp roaring out to the heavens in triumph!
"I…I don't believe it folks! History has just made before our very eyes!" The MC stuttered and choked almost speechlessly, before roaring out to the masses gathered before everyone as he announced the League Champion at long last, after many decades a new Dinosaur King has been crowned! "The winner of the Fossil League is none other than the greatest dino duelist of the D Team and possibly even the whole world! Let's give it out for none other than Max Taylor!"
"YAY!"
"Max!" Zoe and Rex cheered their friend on.
"You did it!"
"Well done! You won it!"
"That was the most awesome thing I ever saw!"
"I knew never to count you out! I always believed in you from the very start!" Dr Drake, Ancient, Owen and Cretacia cried out at the top of their lungs in cebration.
"He did it….our baby…." Aki teared up as she sniffled emotionally moved to tears, as Spike passed her a hankie which she used to wipe away said tears of joy.
"Yes he did Aki….sniffle….I'm so proud of him! Waaah!" He bawled in a less mature manner as he took his wife's hankie back and blew into it himself, with her giggling in amusement.
"The fact our son has grown up to become a great champion….makes me wish I enjoyed his childhood much sooner….." Spike sniffled as he held his hat to his face to cover up his manly tears, but the fact he shed them still showed how much he was impacted seeing his son grow up so fast at such a young age. It also made him jealous somewhat to see him find his path so easily but it also made him proud that he helped his son discover that very passion.
"Congratulations Taylor, you surpassed me and now you surpassed my daughter too….." Lunensis nodded with great approval and smiled now seeing his victory was no fluke, it may have been destiny without a doubt, "You truly are more gifted than any dino duelist will ever be."
"The future will truly shine even brighter in their hands." Maia nodded feeling more at ease to leave the future in the next generation.
Even the Alpha Gang joined in the cheers of celebration, "Nice job kid! You really proved your mettle there! It's way harder than any metal in the world too!"
"We take back all the mean things we ever thought or said about you! That's all water under the bridge now!" Zander and Ed each cried out their hearts driven by pure joy.
"Bravo Max….bravo….." Ursula clapped, not wanting to say anymore or any less, but she hid the fact that she was really fired up by their battle too and wished she could be in the finals….still there was always next time so it was no skin off her teeth, "And Cera too…..well done…." She added at the end knowing even the loser deserved some degree of credit and acknowledgement, after all since she got it when she lost it makes sense that she gives it to Cera as well.
"Ahahaha! A fine match it was! Worthy of the finals!" Dr Z clapped and applauded with sincerity, something he never imagined he'd ever do but with a match like that it would be madness if he didn't congratulate the result. Plus it helped inspire a new dream deep down, and seeing Max being able to triumph made him even more worthy as a rival in the old man's eyes and filling him with more youthful determination than ever! "Once I make this a reality back home I'll make sure the battles will always be of equal caliber to this! This I swear!"
His words greatly motivated his men."And we'll be there to make that dream come true Dr Z!"
"You can count on us to carry it through!" Zander and Ed cheered for him as he held out his head up high and snickered with glee.
"Hehehe….of course, I know you will." He smirked guaranteeing them a place in his inner circle of his new Dinosaur Kingdom one day, with Rod, Laura and family smiling for them all.
Surround by the applause and celebration, Max waved out his arms to everyone returning their thanks as he leapt for joy, "Ahahahah! Chomp! They love us!" He laughed joyously as Chomp stomped his foot on the ground and roared as he reverted back to normal and his armour dissipated off him, "We did it….We actually did it….We made it to the end of the League and won….." He almost teared up feeling a new kind of emotion that he couldn't describe well up deep within.
"Yes Max, you sure did." Cera spoke to him as she walked right up to congratulate him personally.
"Cera…." He breathed seeing her, also feeling a little guilty about denying her her dream, to which she shook her head.
"Well done both of you….heh, I have to admit it still stings a little to lose." She admitted, "Though I suppose if I had to lose, I don't mind it being to you, one of my closest friends of all." She smiled looking to the sidelines to see Zoe and Rex getting up and running towards them, with their friends and families slowly emerging from their seats and heading towards them as she spoke, "After all you and your friends helped saved the world from destruction many times, so I shouldn't be surprised." She said putting a hand on his shoulder, "Max, you're the greatest and I salute you. You are now the Fossil League Champion, well done." She acknowledged him as both a friend and a rival to surpass, but today, as Champion of the World.
"Heh, you and Erwin didn't make it any easier for us hehe….you're as every bit and tough as you said." Max chuckled as he recalled Chomp and turned him to his small size again, as he shook his head clear and barked with joy as Max picked him up so he could lick his face and playfully nibble his nose. "Ahahaha, you never change will you buddy?" He smiled hoping Chomp would stay that way forever, before looking to Cera, "Thank you Cera, in fact thank you for inviting us to take part in the League and to make it a huge success." He said to her gratefully, "After all we joined in to not just compete and have fun but to also bring back what was lost to the city just like how the dinosaurs were once lost to the world."
She nodded back in response, "Indeed Max, but we accomplished more than that today." Cera looked all around to see the audience smiling brightly or gasping with awe and admiration, with eyes reflecting the new hopes and dreams being born deep inside them. Something she had longed to see for many years during the days of the Shadow War and now her long wish has been granted, "You helped to bring out the very best in the duelists gathered here and planted great seeds that would bloom into a newer brighter future for man and dinosaur kind alike." She told him as she faced him, locking eyes with Max, "You demonstrated your gift at being the bridge between humans and dinosaurs, a gift uncovered the day you met Chomp, and a gift which gave birth to this very world now." She placed a hand to her chest as she could feel a great warmth and calmness over her as well, "Along with a great new power within, setting the goal and the dream for the future to achieve." With the dark days of the past now left behind for good as they move on to a bright new future to forge.
"Cera…..it was an honour, truly it was." Max replied as he swore to always remember not just this very day but the events that lead up to it, which was all made possible thanks to he and his friends meeting her in the forest that one day. As destiny no doubt set in motion for them, and he had absolutely no regrets about it in the slightest.
"Attention to our new Fossil League Champion!" The MC quickly resumed his post as he got the brunette's attention along with Chomp as they turned to see him at the now raised podium on the arena grounds, "Please take your rightful place upon the pedestal to receive your commemorative thanks and your prized reward for winning your way through to the finals and even defeating Commander Cera herself!" He told Max as he ushered Max to his rightful spot of the champion's seat! "A place in the Fossil League's Prehistoric Hall of Fame!" He declared as behind the podium, many other commemorative plaques and league photos were displayed along with them, featuring the greatest dino duelists of the past right up to Lunensis, their most recent champion of the last league they had, with a fresh new spot open for none other than Max himself.
"AH!" Max gasped while everyone stared in awe to see that sacred pedestal emerge from deep within the stadium underground, much like that of a traditional ritual or ceremony that hadn't been erected for many years.
Cera smiled, for it was a long time since those words were uttered. The first time she ever heard them was for her father, there were no doubt many who stood on that throne before him but since he took first place he won many years in a row undefeated and seemingly unbeatable, the day he retired he now left a spot to be filled by a new Champion, and today that person was Max. "Go on Max, you earned it." She assured him now was his time to shine, "Don't keep them waiting too long now."
"Y…Yeah…." Max gulped nervously, but soon mustered the courage to walk towards it with pride, knowing as champion he had a standard to uphold and he did so, as he stood on the stage before everyone gathered.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, we present to you our new Champion! Max Taylor!" The MC then announced to the masses.
Cheers erupted from all across the world and even if not in person, Max could no doubt feel their very presence and spirit with them this very moment.
"YEAH!"
"Take it to the Max!"
"You're the greatest!"
"Well done!"
The MC then handed Max a solid golden triceratops trophy, a symbol of his very victory here in Fossil League stadium, "Champion, your trophy."
"Yeah! We did it Chomp! We're now the Champions!" Max laughed as he gladly received it and held it out to the sky for everyone to see. Chomp barked and wagged his tail with enthusiasm as confetti and fireworks fired off into the night starry skies!
"Winning the championship in your very first tournament, now that is a historic event!" Cera clapped as she praised his greatest triumph ever.
It didn't take long for everyone else to begin showering Max with praises and applause one after the other, "Yeah! No one's ever done that except Lunensis himself!"
"Congratulations!"
"You are a true champion!"
"No one's more worthy to stand up there than you!"
"Not just you! A big shoutout to you and all your awesome peeps too!"
"You're all the greatest fighters of all!"
It was then that Lunensis, along with Maia, walked right up to him to give him his personal congrats, "You really are strong Max," Lunensis complimented the young boy, he always knew he had it in him but today he truly surpassed his highest expectations as he bowed with respect, "To defeat my daughter Cera after she unleashed every ounce of power, I truly salute you."
"Ahahaha! Wait till I get back home and tell everyone about my boy being a world champion dino duelist!" Spike boasted with pride as he held out his head to the sky, "Oh they're all going to be so jealous!"
"If they actually believe you or don't clobber you out of envy that is…." Reese sighed and shook her head with disapproval which made him croak nervously.
"Urk…." Maybe it was best he kept his mouth shut and quiet about this.
"Th…Thank you…all of you." Max waved back to everyone in a shy and modest manner, till tears began to well up in his eyes with emotion as he began to sniffle, "Chomp and I….really don't know what to say….but…."
"Don't you dare cry!" Dr Z suddenly spat getting his attention, "And quit that sobbing already! It sickens me!" Everyone looked to him in disbelief that'd he shock such disrespectful behaviour to their new champion, till he said his next words in a more mature manner, "You've won the championship and defeated every opponent set before you including yours truly! Hold your championship title up with pride knowing that you're a winner!" Dr Z told Max seriously who widened his eyes realising he was right about that, "And make sure you live a life worthy of that very title and defend it with all your might to your last breath!" The old man added at the end before grinning deviously, "So that I may come and take it from you one day! Ahahahah!" He cackled with pride before turning to his whole family and punched out his arm to the sky. "Alpha Gang! We're going to train like there's no tomorrow for the next League, and next time we will not lose!" He declared making a solemn vow he would not rest until he claimed the title of Dino Champion one day alongside his throne as Dinosaur King!
His words certainly boosted his gang's morale and excitement as they all cheered with him, "You bet Dr Z!"
"We'll never let you down for sure!"
"The future is in the palm of our hands!" They all cried together.
"Ha! Like the Alpha Gang's gonna have a future if it's hanging on you bozos." Rod scoffed in response which caught them by surprise throwing rain on their parade!
"Huh!?" They widened their eyes at Rod and Laura, who smirked rather smugly their way.
"Yeah! After that final fossil fight no way can we just sit back in the spectators anymore!" Laura smiled before high giving her big brother.
"Next time we're entering too and we'll blow you and the rest of the competition away!" He grinned as he and his sister smirked smugly at the Trio, "I mean we always beat you in the video game so no way can you handle a dinosaur better than we can!"
Their words sparked a sense of rivalry with their older adopted uncles and aunt who flared upon with rage at them, "Say what!?" Ed growled.
"You take that back you snot nosed kids!" Ursula snarled tensing her fist which throbbed with rage.
"Yeah! We've been practicing and even if our albatross was crippled with 1 broken wing we'd still kick your eagle's tail feathers!" Zander countered as he raised his fists at them, "And I bet we'll give you dino sized trouncing too if we ever fought for real!"
"Hehehe, we'll see about that." Rod snickered in response.
Zoe and Rex soon walked up to him, "They're not the only ones who want a piece of the action Max!" Rex called getting his attention as he looked their way.
"Huh?"
Rex grinned pumping up his arm, "Ace and I will train like there's no tomorrow and one day we'll settle the score!" He declared towards his friend a future challenge.
"And don't count me and Paris out!" Zoe cheered, "We'll practice some new moves and when we win we'll be famous superstars ourselves won't we!?"
Max blushed red scratching the back of his head, "Ehehehe….I don't know what to say you guys."
The battle requests and challenges soon began piling up one after the other, "Well I'm ready when you are Champ!"
"Bring it on unless you're afraid to lose!"
"No! Me first!" Various duelists our troopers began crying out demanding a battle from Max, regardless of win or lose they wanted to prove to him that they were worthy enough to stand in the same league as him and his friends!
"Aww give him a break won't you?" Raina shook her head in disapproval before grinning cheekily, "But if he wants a real challenge I'm happy to oblige!"
"Forget them! They're all lame compared to me!" Blaze laughed as he folded his arms on his hips and smirked with fiery energy!
"I'm always looking for some fresh meat!" Craig grinned as he popped his knuckles itching for a fight!
Meanwhile Kaze simply, stood on the sidelines, but deep down he smirked seeing a worthy opponent for him no doubt.
Hua and Marina both smiled and shrugged their shoulders.
"Oh men….they never change will they?"
"Typical….Oh well if you can't beat them, join them." They both giggled in amusement.
Max most certainly had his work cut out for him, no doubt he'd have a real busy schedule the next few days without a doubt.
Looking all around him, Chomp could see they're not just friends and teammates, they're fellow rivals pushing one another to new heights and he set the example for them all
"Champion Max," The MC then called out, breaking up the fans and praises, as he held a small microphone to the League's Champion, "Would you have any kind parting words to share with the many people gathered here and now? Words that they can carve into their very hearts and minds and to potentially live by for generations to come?" He asked catching Max off guard just when he felt he could take a breather.
Max blinked his eyes and stuttered, "E…Err…." As the MC finished, many people were waiting excitedly or pestering him to say something memorable to be remembered for the ages!
"Hey Taylor! What can we do to be as tough as you are now!?"
"Do you think we can be as strong as or even stronger than you!?"
"What do you think is most important for a dino duelist now that you've won the league!?"
Hearing so many requests piling on him at once made Max real anxious to have the whole world staring at him. He sweated nervously and felt his throat grow quite dry at first, but upon seeing the hopeful looks on everyone, especially the younger children, he knew that what he said today would impact how they would go about in their future days or even affect the very essence of dino duelling itself! While nerve wrecking to say the least he knew as the Champion it was his duty to set the example for everyone to follow and live by, it was more than a title, one must also have a vision strong enough to uphold and truly be worthy of it. "Come Max, you can do this, you won through the toughest battles of all to get here. If you chicken out now you'll live with the shame for the rest of your life and not to mention missing out on the people you could have inspired…." He told himself deep down, before opening his eyes with clarity and clearing his throat, "Ahem," Silence descended upon the entirety of not just the arena, but the entire world, as they awaited to hear what Max had to share with everyone present, many held their breath waiting in anticipation of whatever great words of wisdom their champion and hero would part upon them all.
"Thank you everyone! Chomp and I are really grateful for you all cheering us on!" He said really gratefully to not just his loyal supporters and dino duel dans, but above all to his best friends and family whom he both trusted and loved, who have carried him to this very end and how he carried on their very wishes and saw this tournament through, "And I'm really happy for all of you sticking with us to the end to help make this possible! We've made it through all kinds of trials to make it to where we are now! It was through our many battles both victories and defeats that helped us find strength along with the wisdom to use it with both courage and compassion!" Max continued before sniffling emotionally but wiped away his tears not wanting to look weak in front of everyone in this very moment, "But this strength was not ours alone, with both the many great people we've met we've made both friends and family along the way in our great journey, forging bonds together that will tie as long as time flows! It was thanks to all these people and the experiences that helped shape us all to whom we are today."
He declared firmly with resolve, speaking the very words that came from his heart, "And if you all do the same, one day you may stand where me and Chomp are right here and now thanks to today's very events!" Looking to his partner who barked at him with enthusiasm, Max smiled, "The day me and Chomp met was a fated meeting, where we made it possible that people and dinosaurs can coexist side by side as equals! Partners! Friends!" He pumped up his arm and grinned with energy, "And as long as we make that the foundation of what we build our lives on, that dream will never die!" Chomp barked happily as Max laughed, "That's right Chomp! As long as we keep our eyes on the prize and never forget courage, wisdom and compassion, your dreams will definitely come true, the impossible will become reality even! You need only to discover your own potential through adventure and experience itself!" he answered his partner and best ever friend, as their friendship would stand even the toughest trials of time and space and will span through all eternity, as others will not only forget the foundation they have laid here this very day but may one day follow the same path as they have too. Pumping up with excitement he added "And this is just the beginning for us! We'll always be together no matter what, not even time, space nor death will ever do us apart."
Clap and cheers of applause soon followed as Max completed his wondrous and heart touching speech, as the words he spoke were carved into the hearts and souls of everyone gathered for ages to come.
Far away in one of the hallway entrances to the arena, Seth smirked satisfied with what he bore witness, this being the ideal dinosaur society he had hoped to bring forth to the world one day, yet all along wha he worked hard to achieve with his own 2 hands, it was the D Team and Alpha Gang who had already laid the groundwork for his dream to be a reality. At peace with himself and his past actions at last, he turned around and began walking away, having no in terse in taking part in the festivities though, having seen what he needed already.
"Oh, and 1 last thing everyone." Max then spoke up, already figuring out a grand way to end this commemorative day as he recalled Chomp and slashed him! "Aha! Dino slash!" He summoned forth Chomp to full size as he reared up and let out a proud roar to the skies before slamming down with a lot thud in celebration!
"Ahahaha! Let's join in everyone!" Zoe laughed as everyone held out their cards and dinoshots, ready to call in everyone to be included for the grandest moment of all.
"Yeah!"
"Alright!"
"DINO SLASH!"
"ALPHA SLASH!"
As everyone began slashing and summoning forth dino after dino one by one, roars and multiple cheers could be heard echoing through the arena walls and across the globe in celebration, as fireworks erupted and exploded across the dark starry night sky cheers of joy hailed through the night as dreams were made and wishes fulfilled.
And no one could understand that better than Cera herself as she looked on with pride and joy filling her heart as she shed a small tear from her eyes, as her heart took in this very experience and recorded it deep within her very soul to never ever forget. "These cheers are a salute to the friendships between man and dinosaur. To the bonds that overcame adversity and helped save the world." she thought as she looked upon Max with pride and joy, "You have won a mighty battle indeed Max, one that shall echo beyond just generations but through the ages of this world and for those who have yet to see." She then sported a most confident expression on her face as she knew this was merely the start of something new for everyone gathered here at this point in time as though fate and destiny both planned for this very moment, "Savour your triumph, for this isn't the end of your journey. No, it's merely an addition to what you've written on the currents of time the beginning of a new chapter for you in life. No one will decide how your story ends but you yourself." She said with upmost confidence as Erwin and Miku appeared alongside her as she slowly walked in to join everyone else.
"As for myself, I'll never forget this truly momentous occasion as I shall burn this right into my heart snd soul right here and now, and as I breathe I will strive to ensure we will continue to have battles like these which touch the heart and soul, and that they will span till all eternity." She concluded as she vowed to protect this very legacy, one that won't be merely recorded in the history books but on the hearts of the lives touched here and now, so that many more will be moved and inspired by what happened this very day even after they are gone. As everyone stood together for a grand photo that would commemorate this great event in history, at the camera's flash, the skies lit up with he fireworks lightning up the starry night sky with pterosaurs flying overhead to celebrate the conclusion of the greatest league ever in history.
And thus the fossil league draws to a close with Max as the champion and making history of winning on his very first try, the first in a long long time ever since Lunensis, who has held the crown for many years in a row till he retired and now Max claims said crown with everyone aiming for a chance at it next time the League comes.
Surprised with how I came up with Max's power up? It only appeared one other time in Dinosaur Queen against Goma, but I figured it may be the only chance he had against Cera's newfound power and needless to say it came really close too, so it's not exactly a deus ex machina if anyone was thinking that, also Cera had a chance to finish him off earlier but wanted to show off more of her newfound power too which she only recently achieved.
As for the other champions besides Lunensis, can assume them to the protagonists from Fossil League and Fossil Fighters series.

From all the battles in this story which was your favourite and from last chapter from the 6 elements which battle did you find best? Max certainly had to bring out his absolute best to bring out a win and with everyone training hard so they can reach his level and even beat him one day the future Cera lives in will no doubt become even more extraordinary in the future.
