Chapter 8: The Holy Maiden
I'M BACK WITH A MEGA RELEASE
I apologize for not getting a chapter out when I said there will be one in June.
It's December literally almost 2022.
I'm going to be honest, I've just haven't been motivated. And by that, I mean that I haven't been motivated to actually write, well type, this story. It's not like I didn't want to. For these pass months, I've been visioning my story but every time I try to put an idea into a format I just lost it.
What I needed was a break and spark. Something that could get me back to writing.
And I found it in the form of fan fiction and some manhwa. For months, I've been on and off reading, and slowly getting motivated.
I could list off some stories and manhwa that got me back up and running and if you guys want to know, then I could put it in my bio.
Also the story of Solo Leveling ended yesterday. And man what a wild ride it was. I'm going to miss it certainly. Well life goes on and who knows what other great stuff people could create, it's truly fascinating what people can do when they put their minds to it.
Raynare touched down in front of the church and walked inside. She knew she was lucky that Issei didn't know her true intentions. She had to twist her story and hide her true intentions, which will come to reality soon enough.
Not only that, but she met her comrades who were sitting in the pews.
"Well, well, well, look who it is." Said a twin tailed blonde girl who wore a gothic Lolita attire, consisting of a black Lolita dress with white frills, large black bow on the front, a green jewel embedded on the collar, white thigh-high socks, and black shoes.
"Shut it, Mittelt.", Raynare huffed. "Where were you last night, Raynare?", asked the more mature looking one of the three.
"If you want to know, Kalawarna, I was at a human's house."
Mittelt laughed, "Out whoring again?", earning her a glare from Raynare. Letting out a sigh, she relaxed a bit, she didn't know the blonde that well, she didn't even know why she brought her along on her mission. Figuring it wasn't even worth her time to argue or explain herself to the two, she went on to the next topic.
"The sacred gear owner was only some pathetic twice critical user. I let him live out of mercy." Mittelt looked at her nails, uninterested.
Kalawarna raised her eyebrow at this, "And you are not convinced that the devils will get a hold of him.", Raynare shook her head. "He has been around for a while and if they wanted him, they would have picked him up already.", she explained.
Straightening her posture, she made her announcement. "The girl will be here tomorrow, so where is Dohnaseek?" Kalawarna spoke up, "He said he had to take care of something, he'll be here when we need him."
"And Freed?" She asked with an eyebrow raised.
Mittelt growled. "That bastard said he was meeting with 'a strong fallen angel' and that he will be more 'powerful and useful' as a result…he can burn in hell for all I care."
Raynare nodded and walked off, throwing a light spear at a cross on the wall in the process. A wicked grin formed on her face. She couldn't wait for her plan to be put into motion.
The next day Issei woke up, did his routine and went to school. He would be lying if he didn't miss the dungeons, being in school was boring, even though he had gotten way closer to Katase and Mu to the point that they were always together during the mean time.
The only interesting thing he could say that happened to him was earlier after he left the house. His shadow was acting rowdier than usual, so 'scrolled' through his shadows until he came to Iron. Walking into an empty alley, he summoned him. The demon bowed and handed Issei a key.

"How in the hell am I going to get to Hell? And I must have the level of an Ultimate class being?"
Entropy spoke up {There are multiple ways to enter hell, so don't stress that. However, you'll have to get stronger before you can tangle with a monarch}
"What's up with these monarchs anyway."
Entropy sighed, {I'll explain at a later time, we'll cross that bridge when we get there. Take this time to enjoy your life}
Deciding not to stress that morbid ending, he thanked Iron and carried on to school.
Entropy spoke privately to Ddraig. {When he reaches that level he can enter an incomplete juggernaut drive without immediately breaking his sanity. I also have some plans on certain dungeons he'll enter to reach that level}
The Welsh Dragon didn't respond, hoping that Issei would never need to enter that horrid state of being.
Walking into the school, he skipped breakfast and went to class. Classes were also boring, he already knew what was being taught, so he settled on sleeping or having conversations with the two voices in his head and in just a blink, it was the end of the school day. Expecting this day to be like any other day, he was shocked when Kiba immediately talked to him when the bell rang.
"Hyoudou-kun, Rias-sama would like to meet with you." This obviously got some gasp out of the class. Issie was going to straight up decline, but figuring it would add some excitement to his day, he accepted. "Sure, lead the way, Prince of Kuoh." Issei chortled out.
Kiba's popularity was way higher than his, but he had a decent size fan base that he frankly didn't appreciate. Popularity didn't mean much to him and he didn't know how people like Kiba, Koneko, Rias, and the rest of them handle it.
'It must be that devil pride.', he thought as he
walked to the Occult Research Club, which was unsurprisingly closer to the woods.
The three-story building didn't look well-kept, with various foliage and vines that ran rampant throughout the area. Walking inside, he was surprised that the interior was actually the opposite, having a Victoria era theme to it.
{Issei, I have sensed a lone devil entering the outskirts of my barrier near the abandoned industrial area}
'Kuoh seems to be a supernatural hotspot for some reason,' Issei thought. Entropy set up a secondary barrier the covered a good portion of Kuoh, the barrier was made to spot beings with supernatural power and not concealing his power like the other one. For convenience, Entropy has a map of every devil at school so his "radar" won't go off constantly. The only part of the town that Entropy didn't cover was Kuoh Academy, and the east of town where the church is and if he wasn't mistaken, Raynare said her base was also in that direction.
{Issei I sense another devil in the area with a trace of…. vampire}
'Where?'
{Right behind the door we are approaching}
Issei could also feel the presence from his position. 'Now, why would a devil hybrid be hiding here…. well, it's none of our business, but something to keep in mind later. Teleport me, make sure that you can dissipate my energy.'
{Sure thing}
"Sorry Kiba, I got something urgent to deal with." Issei said quickly and teleported. Kiba didn't even get the chance to even turn around to see the boy disappear, only catching a bright flash of blue. Sighing from his loss, he went to go report to Rias.
Opening his eyes, he found himself outside an abandoned factory. "Ok, let's see what we are dealing with." Jumping through a window, he was met with a dark and uncanny inside.

He walked throughout the abandoned factory until a woman walked around a corner to face him.
"Looks like an unfortunate soul has stumbled upon me, I'll enjoy killing you~~!" The woman sung, allowing a snake like tongue to fall out of her mouth.
Issei just stared at her, "Observe."

{Stat for stat you are stronger than what your class ought to be. To be frank, your base power can be compared to ultimate class devils. Every supernatural will have different stats, as each thing that decides power, and the potential of gaining power, will be circumstantial}
'Makes sense.' Turning his attention back to the devil in front of him, he spoke with an urgent voice. "Look, I don't know who you are or what you did to become a stray, but can you like take your bullshit to another town? I've got things to do."
'The sad thing is that I don't.'
The stray laughed, her skin bubbling, "What a cheeky man you are!" Suddenly, her body morphed into a giant centaur with an amalgamation of other human and animal parts. Intimidating for normal people certainly, but Issei was undisturbed.
'Now that I'm fighting again, this is the perfect moment to realize that I don't really have any long-range attacks except for pyromaniac. Ddraig and Entropy, any ideas?'
[Well you could easily learn Dragon Shot since users can learn and use it by using pure instinct, but this isn't the place to use it]

Issei looked back at the devil, monster would be a better word to describe her, as she stared to scream.
"I can't believe you are ignoring me!", she screeched, rubbing her nipples they perked up at her act, which Issei both loved and hated. "I'll dissolve that pretty face of yours instantly!" She moaned out.
Her nipples hardened to the point that they looked like nozzles, which added to Issei's disdain. Grabbing them, she aimed them at Issei and fired multiple globs of highly corrosive acid much to his horror. Backflipping out of the way, he searched for cover.
'I want to vomit." He scampered behind a wall and sat patiently for Entropy to give him what he needed, while Viser continued to moan and fire globs in random directions in an attempt to drive him out.

Suddenly, a hilt fell in his lap. Picking it up, he got a message.

Swinging your sword will cause a wave of entropy to shoot out.
He heard the thump of her footsteps and foul laughter as she was getting closer to him.
Wasting no time, he summoned his sword and watched as the hilt instantly melted on as if it was forged like that. The only thing Issei didn't like was that the black hilt destroyed the red color scheme of the blade, but that was a minor nitpick. "Alright, let's test this out." Jumping from cover, he aimed towards the devil in front of him and swung his sword in her direction.
*CRACK*
*BOOM*
The sound of thunder roared out as a massive wave of dark energy shot from the sword and cut through everything in its path. It sliced through Viser, but kept going and obliterated the factory wall and kept going with no intend to stop.
The upper part of Viser's body slid off and fell on the floor with a sickening splat, her lower body fell seconds later to reveal a trail of destruction. Looking out the hole he could see multiple structures with visible damage. Everyone watched as the wave kept going until it disappeared over the horizon.
"…."

Sirens blared from the distance. He could have easily teleported, but the problem wasn't getting away, the problem was that he couldn't leave a body here.
"Alright boys, time for a snack! My shadow bears come out!" Multiple eyes littered the walls behind with faces appearing soon after. Tank walked out first with the rest lumbering out.
"Alright guys, eat this corpse and don't leave a single drop of blood." Green tongues rolled out the bear's mouth as they licked their lips and pounced on the body of the dead stray. Not even a minute later, the group left no trace of that abomination.
"Excellent job." Issei said, as he called them back into the abyss. "Now let's get out of here."

He jumped back through the window he entered from and leaped over a wall and ran back into town, all the while cackling like a madman.
(Issei's House)
Arriving at the house, Issei was welcomed by his horse. Jumping the fence to his backyard, he whistled to his new companion which surprisingly grew another foot in his care. Issei walked up to his horse and pet it, it's white fur seemingly glowing even during the day. "You're alright boy.", he cooed.
"You know I haven't given you a name yet." Backing up he started to think of a good name. Contemplating for a while he finally thought of a good name.
"Phantom." The name of those bastards he encountered about a while back seemed edgy at first but sounded good. Hearing this, the horse reared up on its hind legs and let out a loud neigh that was more akin to a roar. It stomped the ground while its eyes turned from a soft blue to a light green.

Issei laughed, "I seemed to forget that you actually have some magical power flowing through you." Hopping on, he was thankful that Entropy had already taught him how to ride and gave him the necessary equipment.
"Alright, let's go on a stroll shall we?" Phantom huffed and jumped over the fence and galloped down the street.
{I'll have to make you and your horse invisible to everyone but the supernatural, so you wouldn't need to exhaust yourself. You are welcome to do as you please}
Issei nodded and let his muscles relax and enjoyed the ride while thinking of a destination. 'I guess I'll enjoy time out at the park.'
"Alright boy, let's head to the park!" Issei ordered. Snorting, Phantom increased his speed, hooves generating the sound of thunder with each stride. After a couple of minutes of riding, they arrived at the park. Issei seemed to forget how comforting the park was. The atmosphere, the air, the trees, the flowers, the sound of children playing. It all brought good memories.
{I feel something with supernatural power coming in from the west and is heading… in this general area}
"I feel it too…any idea what kind of entity this is?"
{Not a devil and definitely not a fallen angel… whoever they are, they're weak, frail} Entropy snorted.
"Well, let's just wait and patrol the area then." Phantom nodded and started to trot through the park while Entropy gave constant updates. They pathed their route until he got to the center of the park, where the fountain Issei knew all his life resided.
{In front of us}, Issei squint his eyes and locked on a blonde girl.
[I sense holy magic], Ddraig spoke in a groggy yet interested voice. [Judging by the power, I suspect a nun, but something is off. It feels… familiar]
The girl stared at Issei with wide eyes as she watched as he got closer. Suddenly Issei disappeared off the horse and reappeared in front of her which made her shriek and fall down revealing pristine white panties!
*inside Issei's mind*
'AAAAASSSSSSSS!'
'White panties! Perfect for maiden!'
Issei quickly walked up and held out his hand, "Hey there, sorry that I scared you." She looked at his hand and slowly grabbed it and let him help her up. She gave a quick nod and said thanks.
"Now where are my manners, my name is Issei Hyoudou. What's yours?"
"My name is Asia Argento! Please call me Asia! It's nice to meet yo-" she was interrupted when a strong gust of wind started to blow her veil away.

Asia widened her eyes as her veil came to a sudden stopped midair and floated over right back into her hands. She stared at Issei as he smiled, "Let's go for a walk, I believe you've got a lot to say."
Five minutes of talking showed Issei and Asia taking a stroll through the park while asking questions back and forth, with Phantom following close behind. He gave a brief description of him without telling anything important, while she explained to him why she was in kuoh in the first place.
"So you're a nun and you've been appointed to the church in this town, and you need an escort? Sounds like a simple request I can carry out." Issei agreed to her request.
'It's either she is lying or being fooled. The church in this town has been deserted for close to a decade.'
{She doesn't seem like the type to lie, far too innocent. I suspect this has to do with your fallen Angel friend}
[How intriguing] Ddraig snickered.
Issei didn't want to think that Raynare had something to do with this girl, and he felt it would be better not to start drawing lines to any conclusions.
However, Entropy knew the truth. How could he not? He saw through Raynare's lies and misdirection instantly, plus he already knows the path that she took, so what is his reasoning for letting this happen? He concluded that it would be better and safer for her to be with the ones she will know in the future. A girl like her has no place on the battlefield next to a monarch that's standing on a mountain of corpses.
At least in the state she was now.
"Ow!" A voice screamed, breaking Issei out of his thoughts. They both turned their attention to a boy who had appeared to scrape his knee. Asia quickly ran to the boy's side and started to comfort him. She held both of her hands over his knee and a soft green light shined over the scrape. Slowly the injury healed to the amazement of the boy and Issei.
Standing up, the boy flexed his leg and lit up in joy when no pain was felt. He laughed and jumped up and down before turning to Asia. "Thank you miss!" He hugged her and ran off, continuing his day.
Asia turned back to Issei and giggled, "All done now, sorry."
Issei and Asia continued to walk in silence until he spoke, "So healing powers, huh?"
Asia smiled," You must be surprised?" Issei laughed at that notation. "I ride around on a horse in public that is invisible to common people. Compared to what I know healing powers is pretty moderate isn't that right Phantom?" The horse who was trailing behind them snorted and seemed to nod his head.
"Even so, for a girl like you to be able to do what I saw is remarkable."
"Yes, I consider it a gift and a blessing!" She held her head down, "A real blessing." she said in a sad tone. Before Issei could press further, she lifted her head and smiled. "Look, there it is." she said as she pointed at the church on top of a hill overlooking the town.
His eyes homed in on the church, "Yup, that's the only church in the town." he replied. 'Even though nobody has been there for years, probably have to thank our devil friends for that.'
Asia turned to him, "I would love to thank you somehow… would you mind coming up with me?"
Issei stared at the church for a while. Normally, he would go and scope out the situation for his eyes, but lately this whole endeavor has garnered numerous questions and not many answers. Of course going to the church would answer some, he figured he will wait this out… for now at least. He was split between spectating or getting involved, but recently with the appearances of supernaturals doing what they please in the town he grew up in and what he considered his turf rubbed him the wrong way.
This was getting frustrating. He felt like he was slipping up when he shouldn't. Devils were watching him, the fallen angels are planning something, and Kuzuryu was still around. She wasn't in town, but he had a gut feeling she was still near, watching from a distance.
[Now that I have seen the girl in action, I have deduced that she holds the sacred gear Twilight Healing, which makes her involvement in this endeavor even more suspicious]
Issei let out a sigh, it can't be helped. "Sorry, but I'll have to kindly refuse, maybe another time."
She looked disappointed a first but quickly smiled again, "I see. Regardless, I'm glad that I've been blessed to meet someone as nice and kind as you. Promise me that you'll visit me at the church if you have the time."
"Oh I promise, and here is my address and contact information if you need me." He pulled out a piece of paper Entropy made for him and gave it to her. She stared at it with a small blush before thanking him again.
"Well until then." Issei said as he mounted Phantom and started to trot away. 'Might have to speak to the devils after this.'
(Kuoh Academy)
The next day went by with Issei not even going to school, deciding to get all the rest he could as he felt that from now on, it might be a luxury. However, as school was ending with students pouring out of it, he was entering watching as students avoided him and stared, gossiping on why he would be here. Soon he was walking through empty halls with a destination in mind.
Walking into the building again, he navigated it swiftly and silently, using his senses to guide him until he found himself outside big fancy doors. Knocking twice, he stepped back and listened as the voices quickly quieted down. The door opened to reveal the buxom queen of the school looking at him with shocked eyes.
"H-Hyoudou!? W-What are you doing here!?" she stuttered. She looked back to see her peerage equally shocked as she was. 'He got all they way here without any of us detecting him.' Rias thought with wide eyes.
Issei chose to ignore her expression and continued. "Greetings, I have some questions that need answered, and I'm sure you have stuff to ask me as well, am I correct?"
Quickly gaining her composure, she fully opened the door and welcomed him in. "You are, come in, and we'll discuss over some tea." Akeno immediately got up and walked to another room, supposedly going to make a batch of tea.
Entering the room he got a good look and was impressed with the decor, very fitting for devils in his opinion.
He decided to sit down on the same high-class couch that Kenoko was munching cookies on, almost making his stomach rumble in hunger. Noticing his staring, she hugged her bag with her small frame. "You can't have any." she said with a deadpanned expression and tone.
'Damn.' Issei thought, disappointingly hanging his head down only to bring it back up when he heard Kiba laughing. "Don't mind Koneko, she is like that with everyone."
Not feeling any better, he gave him a small thanks.
{Oh yeah speaking of hunger let me tell you guys about this time when I tried to order food}
While Issei waited he listened to the primordial rant about 'boneless pizza' and 'poor customer service'. Surprisingly, Ddraig seemed more interested than he was. He did notice that the dragons were more talkative to eachother as time went by.
{As it should be. We're the Three Musketeers and partners in crime after all} Entropy chortled.
'Uh-huh, and what crimes have we committed?'
{Counterfeiting, forgery, technical Grand Theft Auto, arson, driving without a license, tax evasion, owning a horse without a license, trespassing, evading the law, contributing to a genocide of an entire planet need me to go on?}

Rias walked in and sat at her desk as Akeno passed out tea to everyone. When she got to him, she bent over to show a bit of cleavage, however her eyes said otherwise…they were almost pleading which reminded him how serious this whole situation is.
"So…"spoke Issei breaking the silence "why haven't you guys dealt with the fallen angels?"
Rias let out a sigh, "While we certainly disapprove of their presence, we just don't know what they're doing. Basically, we can't kill them without an excuse."
Putting the cup to his mouth, he sipped. Sloshing it around his mouth he slowly took in the flavor before swallowing.
It was pretty good tea.
"Isn't them trespassing an excuse of itself?"
"Normally yes, but things have cooled down ever since the last war. She took a sip of her tea. Outright killing isn't frowned upon, but usually they get time to leave or stay if they have an excuse. Especially since no one wants to start a war."
Issie had a solution to that. "Let's make a deal then. Let me deal with the 'intruders' while you guys observe from the rear, and after all is done I'll hear you out in your endeavor. Sounds good?"
"Just like that?"
"I'm a man of my word"
The girl giggled,"Then you have a deal, Hyoudou-kun."
Issie nodded, standing up, he set his cup down on the tray and proceeded to leave. Looking back he smiled.
"That was some pretty good tea, Akeno. I'll might need you to make me some in the future."
Walking home Issie decided to take a detour towards home deciding to take a walk in the park too. After walking for a while, he sat on a bench to clear his mind. Looking up, he noticed darkness started to fill the skies way to fast to be natural. Of course, he expected this, as he already knew somebody was trailing him. He didn't even budge from his spot, ears listening at each step that was being taken.
"I spy a pathetic human with a pathetic gear." a voice chuckled. Appearing from the shadows, his figure was shown. A middle-aged-looking man with short black hair and dark blue eyes who donned an attire of a pale gray trench coat over a white dress shirt with a matching ascot, black pants and shoes, a pair of black gloves, and an admittedly nice looking black fedora.
'Should I entertain this guy?'
[Get some information out of him after that kill him] Ddraig mumbled highly uninterested in the fallen.
"What are you guys even doing here? Your leader has already confirmed what the Grigori sent you here for, so why are you still here, especially in devil territory?"
Dohnaseek reeled back, "A lower life form demands an answer from me? And it looks like that bitch has yapped her mouth too much if you know what we're initially here, not only that, but she didn't kill you as well?"
He clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Well, I guess I can tell you, it's not your pathetic life will continue for long." He chuckled as he straightened his coat and spoke.
"You claim that the Grigori sent us here to confirm your gear? Wrong boy, Raynare was sent to kill you regardless! The fact you are still alive is intriguing, but her methods are none of my concern. The reason the rest of us are here on her mission to steal a sacred gear off a nun we lured here." He explained looking at Issei expecting fear and despair, however his face was expressionless and eyes covered by his hair.
He continued regardless summoning a light blue light spear, "So let's see, you don't have any signs of association with the devils and thus no association with any faction, you show no signs of disappearing nor any magic circles deployed; therefore there will be no problem with me ending your worthless life-" Before he could end his reasoning
/The Skill: Bloodlust: Has Been Activated\
The air noticeably got heavier and the night sky gotten darker. Dohnaseek tensed as hid knees buckled as it felt like half of his power was instantly drained from his body.
Sweat dripped from his forehead. 'No drained isn't the right word, more like stolen.' He couldn't believe that a mere human could do this to him.
Maybe it was a trap set up by those pompous devils, he sneered at that thought of being careless. Turning his head up, he was about to curse the boy, but the breath was sucked from his lungs when he looked at him.
Light green veins littered Issei's eyes, sharp teeth were showing from the grimace on the boy's face. Issei was shaking in rage at the situation. Not only was Asia, his new, cute innocent, nun friend, was played for a fool, but he was too! The trio already drew parallels between Asia and the fallen angels, but hearing it straight out of the mouth of Dohnaseek was so infuriating that he could feel fire rumbling in his stomach.
The condescending, mocking tone of his supposed death brought back bad memories he wanted to avoid remembering. Issei let out a sigh, thick steam rising from his maw, and spoke with a dark tone.
"Now from listening to you I can tell that you're not fond of other beings, especially a human like me. I can also tell that you're very prideful and various other things. But the fact is, Dohnaseek, you and I aren't even close to the same status of significance. I'm not something beings like you can understand… but I will be something you all will learn to fear."
His head lifted to show messy green eyes beaming into the man. "Now that I got the information I needed now I have to break your neck. Issei shrugged his shoulders. "It's just the way it is, I'm not- I'm just the messenger." His voice echoed a somber tone.
Dohnaseek shivered and started stuttering," H-h-how dare y-you!" He gritted his teeth in rage as he summoned a light spear, aiming to decapitate the blasphemous boy who was toying with him. "HOW DARE YOU, A MERE HUMAN, TRY TO FUCK WITH ME!" He shouted, throwing the light spear with his remaining strength. "DIE!" As the unholy spear came inches from his face, the boy disappeared and reappeared in front of him grabbing the man by the neck and lifted him up.
{Have no hesitation. End his life and send him to oblivion. Spill his blood and start the path many others will fall on. He won't be last, no many more will join him}, the dragon hissed sadisticly.
Those words were the primer needed to send a bullet down the barrel, Issei dug his claws in flesh until he felt bone and muscle tendons on his fingertips. Releasing a growl from his maw, he crushed the throat of the fallen, warm blood slowly leaking unto his palm. He tossed the body and burned it, leaving nothing but scorched earth.
